The Green Tea Omega Has Turned Bad - Chapter 36
Yan Xia followed behind He Xiaoyu and Wen Han, visiting Class B, Class C, and Class D one after another. The speech process went very smoothly.
Everyone’s impression of Yan Xia remained stuck on the previous “love letter” incident that had caused such a stir; they thought she was still a rustic and ugly academic failure who was like a toad lusting after a swan’s meat.
However, the Yan Xia standing on the podium was dressed neatly, clean and beautiful, with fluent language expression… it was simply refreshing.
“So Yan Xia actually looks really good. I thought the photos on the forum were Photoshopped.”
“Actually, her voice is quite gentle, and her speech is very logical. She feels quite cute.”
“How did she change so much? She hasn’t been soul-transmigrated, has she…”
After walking through three classes, many people’s impressions of Yan Xia had changed significantly.
Even He Xiaoyu was somewhat surprised. She originally thought that a “country bumpkin” from Class F like Yan Xia would definitely not have seen much of the world. She expected her to stutter and read her manuscript vaguely, which would highlight He Xiaoyu’s own fluent speech by comparison making her look incredibly embarrassed.
Unexpectedly, Yan Xia’s stage presence was even more interesting than her own; she knew how to stir the atmosphere and even cracked a few jokes from time to time, drawing friendly laughter from the audience.
By the time they finished the three classes, He Xiaoyu’s face had turned a bit dark.
Failing to see Yan Xia make a fool of herself, she instead found herself being overshadowed.
Wen Han walked by her side and lowered her voice: “Xiaoyu, are we going straight back to the classroom now, or…”
He Xiaoyu shook her head and narrowed her eyes: “Follow the original plan.”
Wen Han bit her lip and hesitated: “Are we really going to do that?”
He Xiaoyu stared at her: “Are you backing out?”
Wen Han’s voice weakened: “No… I’m just worried something might happen.”
He Xiaoyu: “Don’t worry. I heard from those in Class F that Yan Xia is very cowardly. She wouldn’t dare to snitch.”
After saying that, she suddenly stamped her feet, acting as if she were in a hurry: “Oh! I suddenly remembered, I left my water bottle in the sports equipment room this morning!”
Wen Han immediately said: “Really? Then what should we do! The PE teacher should be gone by now, right?”
“It’s fine, I already asked the sports commissioner for the key to the equipment room.” He Xiaoyu looked at them with concern, “I’ll go get it now, you guys go back to the classroom first.”
Wen Han played along with her: “It’s fine, it won’t take long anyway. We’ll go with you.”
She looked at Yan Xia and casually encouraged her: “Yan Xia, you should come along too?”
Yan Xia smiled and said, “Sure, let’s go.”
Upon hearing this, the other two looked at each other and smiled meaningfully. He Xiaoyu leaned close to Yan Xia and said affectionately, “Yan Xia, you are so kind.”
Yan Xia said leisurely, “You’re welcome, we are classmates after all.”
The electronic voice of the system sounded in her ear: “They are starting to stir up trouble, aren’t they?!”
Yan Xia glanced at the corners of their mouths, which they couldn’t stop from curling upward, and looked away: “It seems so.”
“Be careful, Host,” the system said. “This He Xiaoyu looks much more ruthless than Fu Yuan.”
“I’m actually quite looking forward to what kind of method they will use.” Yan Xia put her hands in her pockets and raised the corners of her mouth, “Don’t disappoint me.”
The three of them walked down the stairs and arrived at the sports equipment room on the first floor.
The equipment room was small and had no external windows; it looked more like a crude storage room.
He Xiaoyu pulled a key from her pocket and turned it in the lock, producing a crisp clicking sound.
The door opened.
Wen Han stood behind her and suddenly lowered her voice: “Did you know? I heard the equipment room makes strange noises at night.”
He Xiaoyu stopped her movements and scolded with a smile: “What nonsense are you talking about? It’s quite scary.”
“It’s true! Apparently, a security guard posted a plea for help on the forum, saying he heard crying outside the equipment room in the middle of the night,” Wen Han said meaningfully.
Yan Xia, who had been silent, suddenly asked, “And then?”
“There is no ‘and then’.” Wen Han looked eerie. “That thread grew into a tall tower of comments, but the original poster disappeared without a trace and never replied again. It continued until daytime, when the post was suddenly deleted.”
He Xiaoyu waved her hand: “What, maybe it was just a prank.”
“I don’t know about that, but later someone posted a screenshot of that thread, and it quickly became a 404 error,” Wen Han laughed. “Anyway, this is one of our school’s midnight legends the crying in the equipment room at midnight.”
He Xiaoyu frowned, looked at the pitch-black equipment room, and rubbed her arms: “Stop talking, I’m getting goosebumps.” She turned her head to look at the expressionless Yan Xia, “Yan Xia, aren’t you afraid?”
Yan Xia’s face was pale, and she stared straight at them.
She suddenly raised a hand and pointed at the door behind them, saying in a trembling voice: “You… behind you…”
The two of them trembled in unison: “W-what?! What’s behind us?”
Yan Xia said ghostily: “The door opened.”
The two screamed and quickly hid behind her.
“I-I-I didn’t even push the door, how did it open?” He Xiaoyu was shivering.
“Maybe it was the wind…” Wen Han swallowed hard and shut her eyes tight, “I don’t dare to move!”
Yan Xia looked at them: “Aren’t you going in to get the water bottle?”
The door to the equipment room opened silently; it was pitch black inside and nothing could be seen clearly, just like a deep and cold cave.
The two looked at each other and said in unison, “I don’t dare to go in…”
“Me neither…”
He Xiaoyu pleaded: “Yan Xia, can you help me go in and get the water bottle? I’m scared.”
Yan Xia stepped back a few paces, delicately covering her mouth: “But I am also very scared.”
He Xiaoyu tightly gripped her clothes, a hint of coldness flashing in her eyes, though her voice sounded pitiful: “I beg you, I’m too cowardly to go in alone. Please help me, and I’ll buy you milk tea when you come out.”
Yan Xia curled her lip: “Why don’t the three of us go in together?”
The other two shook their heads in unison, placing their hands over their hearts in a pleading posture, their eyes flickering.
“Please help, Yan Xia!”
“I beg you, you’re the best!”
After they pleaded for a long time, Yan Xia let out a long sigh and said as if with great difficulty, “Well, alright then.”
He Xiaoyu was overjoyed: “You’re so kind!”
She pushed Yan Xia forward and said with a smile: “It’s on the table at the very back; you can see it at a glance.”
Yan Xia stopped at the dark doorway, suddenly turned her head to give her a deep look, and curled her lip: “Okay.”
He Xiaoyu’s whole body tensed up, as if she felt observed from head to toe.
She watched Yan Xia walk inside without looking back and subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.
To the side, Wen Han said nervously: “What should we do? She’s in!”
“Go close the door.” He Xiaoyu shook the keys in her hand, her smile successful.
Yan Xia walked into the equipment room, feeling for the switch on the wall.
As her vision gradually adjusted to the darkness, she could vaguely see several tall iron racks in front of her, filled with various balls, and several sit-up mats scattered messily on the floor.
There was also something hanging from the ceiling fan in a strange posture, though she couldn’t see exactly what it was.
Yan Xia quickly found the light switch and with a click, the light turned on.
The space was suddenly illuminated. In the small room, between several large iron racks, a person in white was hanging in mid-air, swaying precariously.
Beneath the person’s feet, the words “Go Die” were written all over the floor in bright red chalk.
Yan Xia: “…”
System: “Holy crap, what is that?!!”
Yan Xia walked forward to take a look. The person was hung from the ceiling fan blade by a nylon rope, hands hanging down and long hair covering the face; it looked very strange.
She reached out and directly pulled the person down.
The person in white fell lightly to the floor.
System: “Host, you are so brave! Aren’t you afraid?”
At the same time, the heavy sound of a door closing came from behind.
Yan Xia raised an eyebrow.
“Click!”
The main door was locked.
The system screamed: “Oh my god! We’re locked in!”
“Don’t worry.” Yan Xia shook her head and flipped the “person” on the floor over, revealing a smile, “As expected, it’s made of pillows and a wig.”
She looked at the dummy’s face, which had been intentionally painted hideous with red paint, and commented with a smile: “I wondered what it was. The painting is quite average.”
System: “…Are you really not afraid?”
“It’s alright.” Yan Xia stood up, put her hands in her pockets, and scanned the room, “What can a group of high schoolers come up with? It’s all just little tricks.”
She glanced at the innermost part of the room; as expected, there was no water bottle on that table.
“Now that we’re locked in, what should we do?” The system said anxiously, “Did you bring your phone?”
“My phone is in the classroom. They probably won’t open the door for me.” Yan Xia walked to the door, compared it with the lock, and shook her head, “I don’t think I can break it.”
System: “Then…”
Yan Xia closed her eyes, and a cassette tape gradually emerged in her mind.
She whispered: “Rewind.”
A black cassette tape floated above her palm, its surface snowy white and brand new.
Yan Xia: “Five minutes ago.”
The words “Five minutes ago” were immediately written on the surface of the tape.
A slight stinging sensation suddenly arose in her eyes, forcing Yan Xia to close them.
When she opened her eyes, she was back in front of the equipment room, her hands being tightly held by He Xiaoyu.
He Xiaoyu kept pleading: “Please, Yan Xia! Just this once…”
In the next second, she saw Yan Xia’s eyes turn red as she suddenly burst into tears, causing her to be stunned: “What’s wrong with you?”
Yan Xia wiped her tears and said in a cloying voice: “I am also very afraid.”
He Xiaoyu: “…” There’s really no need to be so dramatic.
“Then I’ll go.” Yan Xia curled her lip and, just like last time, walked toward the doorway.
He Xiaoyu and Wen Han exchanged looks, unable to hide their triumphant smiles.
However, Yan Xia suddenly stopped at the doorway and knitted her brows.
Wen Han urged: “Hurry up and go in!”
Yan Xia turned back, her lips trembling, and gave them a “shushing” gesture.
“There seems to be a sound inside…”
Wen Han was stunned: “What?!” How was that possible?
He Xiaoyu asked doubtfully: “Is someone inside?”
Yan Xia shook her head, tilted her head to listen, and her pupils shrunk slightly: “It sounds like crying.”
The two girls’ hearts immediately began to race, and they subconsciously denied it.
“This…”
“No way? Those are just legends!”
“It’s true.” Yan Xia looked straight at them, her eyes dark. A gust of wind passed by, rustling the fallen leaves at their feet.
“If you don’t believe me, come over and listen for yourselves.”
Wen Han and He Xiaoyu looked at each other. They were both afraid and curious, and they couldn’t help but lean in.
The doorway was pitch black, and there was no sound at all, only the faint sound of the wind.
The two of them huddled together and listened at the door for a while, then said in confusion: “There’s nothing?”
“There is!” Yan Xia said, “Get closer and listen carefully, there really is.”
He Xiaoyu took another step forward, tilting her head to listen.
In a flash of lightning, the keys in her hand were roughly snatched away!
He Xiaoyu was shocked. Before she could react, a hand pushed her from behind the two of them were caught off guard and tumbled together into the darkness.
“You…”
Yan Xia stood at the door, looking at them with a smile. She spun the keys around her index finger, and they shimmered brightly in the sunset.
Without hesitation, she reached out and swiftly closed the door and locked it in one smooth motion.
Wen Han sat on the floor and cried out in pain: “It hurts…”
In the pitch blackness, He Xiaoyu’s eyes were nearly splitting with rage. She lunged at the door and screamed like a madwoman: “Yan Xia! Yan Xia!!! You bitch, open the door for me right now!”
She shouted for a long time, but there was never any response.
Wen Han stood up, patted the dust off her body, and whispered: “She couldn’t have left, could she?”
He Xiaoyu slumped against the door and muttered: “How did she know we were going to lock her in…” She paused, her gaze turning sharp as she looked at Wen Han, “It wasn’t you who told her, was it?”
Wen Han was shocked and shook her head like a rattle: “It wasn’t me! If I had told her, would I be locked in here?”
He Xiaoyu bit her lip and hammered the door hard with one hand: “The keys were snatched by her… now we can’t get out.”
Wen Han was stunned: “No way, maybe she’ll open the door soon?!”
“How is that possible!” He Xiaoyu sneered. “I knew that ‘green tea’ bitch wasn’t easy to mess with. She knew everything and was just playing with us outside. She’s probably long gone!”
Wen Han said despondently: “Then won’t we have to wait until someone finds us…”
He Xiaoyu didn’t speak. Her gaze fell on a dark area where she could vaguely see something hanging in mid-air.
In the dark and narrow space, only the faint sound of wind came from the internal ventilation pipe, a “woo woo” sound that sounded exactly like a resentful wail.
Omegas were naturally timid. Recalling the campus legend from earlier, the two of them couldn’t help but hug each other: “The light? Where’s the light?!”
“On-on-on the wall!”
“By the way, I told you to put something scary in the equipment room…” He Xiaoyu swallowed hard. “What did you put?”
“I-I don’t know, I asked someone else to help me set it up…” Wen Han said in a trembling voice, “Quick… quick turn on the light, I can’t take it anymore…”
He Xiaoyu felt for the switch on the wall. With a click, the bright incandescent light suddenly illuminated the entire equipment room.
In the next second, the two of them saw a person in white hanging in mid-air. After swaying a few times, it suddenly fell lightly to the floor, revealing a blood-red smiling face from amidst the messy black hair!
“AHHHH—”
“AHHHH—”
Yan Xia leaned against the door of the equipment room with her arms crossed.
She heard two piercing screams from inside and raised her eyebrows: “That’s it? No way.”
