The Green Tea Omega Has Turned Bad - Chapter 30
After more than an hour, Zhao Daimann finally finished the parent-teacher meeting and walked out of the classroom with a dark expression on her face.
She was nearly dying of anger. She never expected that attending a parent-teacher meeting for Yan Xia would result in such a humiliating experience. Originally, as the parent of the student ranked first in the whole class, she should have received plenty of envy and admiration, with everyone coming to her to ask for advice on how to educate a child. However, things turned out quite differently from what she had imagined.
At the time, Zhao Daimann was called upon by the homeroom teacher for praise and was invited to the front to share her experiences regarding study habits. Facing over twenty pairs of envious eyes below the stage, Zhao Daimann spoke with an air of affected reserve, saying, “The children of our Yan family have been very smart since they were young; the genes are good. I usually do not manage Yan Xia much; she relies entirely on her own self-discipline.”
Old Liu, the homeroom teacher, stood by and agreed with a smile, “Yan Xia is indeed a very clever child.”
As a result, a parent in the audience asked bluntly, “Why have we never seen you at any of the previous parent-teacher meetings?”
Quickly, someone else chimed in, “I remember that previously, it was always an older lady who came. I thought she was Yan Xia’s grandmother.”
Zhao Daimann was stunned for a moment and said, “That was our family’s domestic helper.”
Everyone looked at each other and asked again, “Why didn’t you come personally?”
Zhao Daimann stammered, “I… I am very busy and have no time.”
Someone who had long been displeased by her display of wealth said in a sarcastic tone, “Are you and your husband really that busy? Coming to attend a child’s parent-teacher meeting only once every two years!”
Another person joined in the banter, “With such a large family and business, they are busy making money; it’s quite normal.”
“Even so, they can’t both fail to show up. A small child would be so heartbroken to hear that!” That person sighed. “My child insisted that I come; if I didn’t, he would argue with me and say I don’t care about him. So, I could only take leave from my workplace and rush here to attend the meeting.”
“Oh, then you really do care about your son!”
That woman giggled and said, “As it should be. Parents simply must care more for their children.”
Zhao Daimann stood on the stage, her face turning pale and then flushed, speechless. Since joining the Yan family, it had always been others who took the initiative to flatter and fawn over her. Today was the first time she encountered such a situation where “a thousand fingers were pointing at her.” Her heart was filled with both anger and anxiety, and her fists were tightly clenched.
Seeing the situation, Teacher Liu hurriedly stepped in to smooth things over, “Thank you to Yan Xia’s parent for sharing. You may step down now.”
Zhao Daimann kept her head down, her high heels making a thud-thud-thud sound as she walked down. Just as she returned to her seat and before she could even get comfortable, a parent suddenly held up a phone and said suspiciously, “Wait, this person is you, isn’t it?”
The person dragged and enlarged the photo on the phone, which clearly showed Zhao Daimann and Yan Siqiu standing together, both possessing very similar melon-seed-shaped faces and smiling together.
“I saw this next to the bulletin board where the grades are posted outside and took a picture of it casually,” the person said blankly. “It’s over there with the representatives of outstanding students from previous years; there are many photos with parents.”
The crowd looked at each other, understanding the situation clearly in their hearts. Someone said meaningfully, “So, you have the time to attend the younger daughter’s parent-teacher meeting, but no time to come see the eldest daughter?”
Zhao Daimann’s temper flared up instantly. She could no longer restrain herself and slammed the table as she stood up, “Do you know who I am? How can you speak to me like that?!”
“I don’t care who you are!” the person said provocatively. “We are all parents here, yet you are so arrogant and full of a sense of superiority. If I didn’t know better, I would think you were the queen of some country!”
“Exactly! You obviously only came to the meeting because the daughter did well this time, right? Ptooey!”
The crowd was also enraged, their words flooding toward Zhao Daimann like spit. Old Liu almost lost control of the scene, shouting for a long time before finally settling everyone down to continue with the matters at hand.
The gazes of those around her felt like knives scraping against her body. Zhao Daimann’s expression was twisted, and her whole body was trembling. After this difficult hour passed, she bolted out of the classroom like a rocket.
However, the corridor outside was crowded with people, and Yan Xia’s figure was nowhere to be found. Zhao Daimann walked quickly toward the restroom while pulling out her phone to call Yan Xia. After waiting for a long time, the call was finally connected.
“Hello?” Zhao Daimann, currently full of anger and looking for someone to vent it on, asked aggressively, “Didn’t I tell you to wait for me outside? Where the hell did you go?”
On the other end of the receiver, Yan Xia’s voice was somewhat blurred, as if separated by a layer of mist: “…Hmm? Mom, what’s wrong?”
“What are you doing? Why are you panting like that?” Zhao Daimann asked suspiciously.
After a moment of silence, Yan Xia answered sluggishly, “Nothing. The teaching building was too stuffy, so Sister Wandong and I are outside… playing with water.”
Zhao Daimann was speechless: “Where is there water nearby for you to play with? There isn’t even an artificial lake! I won’t say more; you two go to the school gate and wait for me. I’ll be there immediately.”
After saying that, she hung up the phone in a fit of rage.
Yan Xia put down the phone and leaned lazily against Shang Wandong: “She’s so angry.”
Under the dim yellow streetlights, the shadows of the two people were tangled together on the ground, inseparable, like two twisting and intertwining dodder flowers. Shang Wandong leaned against the wall, her head turned to the side, a lingering flush still visible on her fair cheeks: “What did Auntie Shang say?”
Yan Xia hugged her and rubbed against her: “She sounds very irritable and told us to wait at the school gate. Is she perhaps going through menopause?”
“Get up.” Shang Wandong pushed Yan Xia’s shoulder, her voice hoarse, “Let’s go back.”
In the hazy night, Yan Xia half-opened her eyes dizzily and leaned in to kiss her again. “I have no strength left.” She leaned on Shang Wandong’s shoulder and said lazily, “I am very weak; I can only walk if Sister carries me on her back.”
Shang Wandong looked at her silently for a moment and said, “If my memory hasn’t failed me, you are clearly an Alpha.”
Yan Xia argued mischievously, “What about being an Alpha? Can an Alpha not have weak legs? That is a gender stereotype!”
Shang Wandong: “…”
She remained silent for a moment, then slid her hands behind Yan Xia’s knees and placed one hand on her back, directly lifting Yan Xia in a princess carry.
Yan Xia’s eyes suddenly widened, and she looked at her in surprise: “You’re really carrying me?”
Shang Wandong glanced at her: “Aren’t your legs weak?”
She carried Yan Xia’s backpack and walked steadily out of the alley. The street was empty and very quiet, with only the chirping of cicadas being exceptionally loud. The night breeze blew, bringing a chill that drove away the heat from their bodies.
Yan Xia curled her eyes, hooking one arm around her neck and using the other hand to rub Shang Wandong’s face: “Sister is so good to me.”
Her fingers were slender and long, and her nails were trimmed round and smooth. Under the polishing effect of the moonlight, they were lustrous and translucent white, very beautiful. Looking at those beautiful hands, Shang Wandong thought of what they had just done, and her cheeks could not help but heat up again.
She paused and asked, “Did you wash your hands?”
Yan Xia blinked and said, “No.”
Shang Wandong’s footsteps halted, as if she were about to let go and drop her immediately.
Yan Xia quickly made amends: “I rubbed you with the back of my hand; it’s clean!”
Shang Wandong glanced at her and let out a helpless, soft sigh. Yan Xia suppressed a smile, suddenly feeling that Shang Wandong’s temper was becoming increasingly better.
When they were not well-acquainted, she felt that Shang Wandong was like a cold and aloof big cat, maintaining a grumpy face every day and radiating a cold aura from the inside out. Now that they were close, she discovered that Shang Wandong was actually a Ragdoll cat that could be rubbed and squeezed at will.
A secret joy suddenly filled Yan Xia’s heart, like discovering a little secret that only she knew. Their relationship could be considered to have taken a step forward, right?
Yan Xia pulled at Shang Wandong’s sleeve, her eyes bright: “Does Sister not care that I am an Alpha?”
Shang Wandong looked straight ahead: “It doesn’t matter.”
Yan Xia was somewhat surprised: “Do you not mind that I lied to you?”
“You must have your own reasons for doing so,” Shang Wandong said. “I will not interfere.”
Yan Xia pursed her lips: “Then are you not curious why I wanted to lie to you?”
Shang Wandong answered calmly: “I am not curious.”
She was as rational as an AI. Yan Xia’s heart full of tenderness immediately dissipated.
Originally, she thought that after Shang Wandong found out, she would have a significant emotional reaction that the two of them might have a big argument or that Shang Wandong would distance herself because she couldn’t accept it. She didn’t expect Shang Wandong to have no reaction at all, as if she didn’t care at all, appearing cold.
A normal person should feel doubt and anger, but Shang Wandong’s emotions were like a straight line that briefly curved before quickly returning to a state of calm. Perhaps it was because there was no love or concern that there was no feeling.
Yan Xia felt as if a piece of her heart had gone empty, feeling a bit discouraged. Walking out of the street, she took the initiative to suggest walking on her own: “We are about to reach the school gate. There are many people; it wouldn’t be good if my mother saw us.”
Shang Wandong did not ask further and put her down: “Okay.”
Yan Xia walked in front. As Shang Wandong’s warmth suddenly left her, the cool breeze made her school uniform feel a bit thin. The two arrived at the front gate of the school one after the other, and sure enough, they saw Zhao Daimann standing at the entrance looking around.
Seeing the two of them, she hurried over, her face dark: “Why did it take so long to get here? Get in the car quickly!”
After sitting in the passenger seat, Zhao Daimann let out a sigh of relief as if a heavy burden had been lifted.
Yan Siqiu, Yan Xia, and Shang Wandong, the three of them, squeezed into the back seat, and the car slowly drove away from the school. No one spoke in the car. Yan Xia looked down at her phone for a while and felt a bit carsick. She tilted her head and subconsciously looked at Shang Wandong.
Shang Wandong was resting her chin on one hand, her head turned to look out the window. Her profile was exquisite and cold. The neon lights were bright, occasionally falling into her eyes, flickering on and off. That expression seemed to hold a moment of loneliness.
Sensing a gaze, Shang Wandong turned her head and met Yan Xia’s eyes.
“What is it?” she asked softly.
Yan Xia shook her head. Feeling dazed, she moved toward her, sitting a bit closer, her nose twitching. After a temporary marking, the marked Alpha would become very dependent on the other person’s pheromones.
Shang Wandong lowered her head, rummaged in her backpack for a while, and placed something in Yan Xia’s palm. Yan Xia looked down at her palm, where a piece of candy lay, wrapped in beautiful blue-green candy paper.
She was stunned for a moment and blinked, feeling that this didn’t quite fit Shang Wandong’s character: “…You even carry candy with you?”
Shang Wandong nodded slightly. Yan Xia unwrapped the candy paper, and a cool scent spread across the tip of her tongue. It was mint-flavored.
With the candy in her mouth, Yan Xia felt her carsickness improve a lot. She folded the candy paper neatly and put it in her pocket. Yan Siqiu, who was next to her, also saw this and leaned over to act spoiled in a low voice: “Sister Wandong, I want candy too.”
As she leaned over, her whole body pressed against Yan Xia’s abdomen. Yan Xia already felt uncomfortable from the carsickness and furrowed her brows in annoyance, saying, “Move away, there’s none for you.”
Yan Siqiu glared at her, didn’t say anything, and looked at Shang Wandong expectantly again.
Shang Wandong said, “There are no more. That one was also given to me by someone else.”
Yan Siqiu retracted in disappointment.
Yan Xia thought to herself: Indeed, how could such a cold woman like Shang Wandong carry candy with her regularly? She leaned against the back of the seat, her eyes squinting as she secretly reached out one hand to hook Shang Wandong’s pinky finger.
Her fingertip was gently encircled. Shang Wandong glanced at her but did not say a word. She pulled the zipper of her backpack with one hand, letting Yan Xia pinch and play with her fingers like a bothersome puppy.
Yan Xia wasn’t satisfied with just flirting and used her phone to send her a message: “Sister, I’m dizzy.”
Shang Wandong looked at the WeChat message, quite speechless: “Didn’t I give you candy?”
Yan Xia: “It’s not that kind of dizzy [crying cat head emoji]”
Yan Xia: “I was just marked by you, and my whole person is very weak QAQ!”
Yan Xia: “Sister, you aren’t even comforting me; I feel very sad in my heart.”
Yan Xia typed rapidly: “Why do you ignore me after the marking is done? You are so scummy. You are a scumbag girl!”
Shang Wandong: “…”
Zhao Daimann turned her head and frowned: “Whose phone keeps vibrating?”
Shang Wandong answered, “Mine.” She turned on silent mode and replied: “Then what do you want me to do?”
Yan Xia raised an eyebrow: “Coax me.”
Shang Wandong pursed her lips and remained silent for a moment: “Okay.”
Yan Xia’s eyes lit up, and she looked at her with great anticipation. In the next moment, a message box jumped out in the chat interface.
“WeChat Transfer: 888.00.”
Yan Xia: ?
Shang Wandong: “Is that enough?”
Yan Xia: “??????”
