The Green Tea Omega Has Turned Bad - Chapter 20
Yan Xia: “…”
Yan Xia typed with difficulty: “I thank you so much!”
Shang Wandong replied politely: “You’re welcome, it’s what I should do.”
Yan Xia put her phone away, not replying again. She was afraid that if she took another look, her mental state would collapse.
As Yan Xia walked back to the classroom, she thought indignantly: That block of wood… just wait until I test into Class One, then I’ll come find you to settle the score! See if I don’t flirt with you eight hundred times a day until you finally get a clue!
When she reached the examination hall, a large crowd was already queuing at the door. Two invigilators were holding metal detectors, organizing the candidates for entry, checking them one by one as they entered.
No. 1 Middle School’s major exams had always been strict. The teaching building specifically had signal jammers turned on; no smart devices were allowed inside, and one could not turn in the paper early even after finishing.
Seating in the exam hall was arranged by rank. Yan Xia’s seat was in the back row of the second-to-last column. In the eyes of some, this was a position very suitable for cheating.
Xiao Wu was sitting with her legs crossed, boredly spinning a pen, when she saw Yan Xia enter through the door and sit in the empty seat in front of her. Yan Xia wore her hair in a brisk ponytail, the tip of which swept back and forth across her neck with her movements, occasionally revealing a section of snowy-white swan-like neck.
Xiao Wu narrowed her eyes and let out a silent sneer. Unlike the vast majority of Alphas in the class, she didn’t like timid and weak Omegas like Yan Xia. She preferred those with a bit more personality. Although Yan Xia’s face had indeed become much prettier… her personality was too dull.
For the first exam, Chinese, once the papers were distributed, Xiao Wu first flipped to the back to look at the modern text reading comprehension. After finishing the somewhat interesting reading questions and scribbling a few lines of nonsense, she picked a few questions she knew how to write from the dictation section at the beginning and filled them in.
Classical Chinese and sentence correction were left to improvisation. As for the final essay, she just threw together enough words to meet the requirement, and then she was finished. That was the good thing about the Chinese exam it was easy to fill the blanks, even if most of the content wasn’t necessarily correct. Most underachievers did exactly what she did.
While everyone was burying their heads in deep thought, trying to remember which texts they had memorized, a sudden sound of paper flipping appeared amidst the quiet rustling. It was very abrupt.
Xiao Wu’s pupils shook: Someone has already moved on to the second page? How terrifying!
She looked up and saw Yan Xia flip the test paper over, continuing to lower her head and write furiously. For a moment, Xiao Wu doubted whether she and the other person were doing the same paper.
Why is she doing it so fast today? I clearly scored one rank higher than Yan Xia in the last exam! Is this reasonable? This is not reasonable!
Xiao Wu couldn’t help but stare at Yan Xia for a while, finding that the other girl wrote very fluently, without even a pause of the pen. Moreover, Yan Xia sat upright with a pleasing posture; she really had the “top student” vibe now, like a fallen young lady in a slum… no, in a pile of academic failures, looking completely out of place.
Could she really know how to write everything?!
Xiao Wu began to doubt herself. She wasn’t the only one doubting; the other people from Class F were stunned. By the time they finished struggling through the dictation, Yan Xia had already rolled up her sleeves and started on the essay.
Xiao Wu specifically glanced at the time. There was still an hour left before the end of the exam. A plan suddenly formed in her mind. She tore a small strip from her scratch paper, wrote some words on it, crumpled it into a ball, and threw it at Yan Xia.
Yan Xia, who was currently brainstorming her opening, suddenly felt her elbow being lightly struck by something. She furrowed her brows, turned her head, and saw an extra small paper ball on her desk. Yan Xia looked up abruptly. Fortunately, the invigilator in front was staring at another row and didn’t notice this.
Xiao Wu leaned her chin on her hand from behind, smiling very triumphantly. Since Yan Xia had always been easy to talk to, helping her cheat shouldn’t be a big deal, right? She would definitely agree.
As expected, Yan Xia unfolded the note and scanned the content. Then, she set the note aside and continued to lower her head and write.
Sitting behind her, Xiao Wu waited and waited, but Yan Xia never passed the answers back to her. Ten minutes passed before she belatedly realized she had been played by Yan Xia. Her expression turned ugly. Furious, she immediately tore off another piece of scratch paper.
Thump. A second paper ball hit Yan Xia. Xiao Wu was very good at timing; the invigilator didn’t notice this time either.
Yan Xia didn’t even twitch an eyebrow as she calmly opened the note. It contained a long, “beautiful” string of insults, followed by a threat to force her into helping with the cheating.
Yan Xia thought for a moment and wrote back on the note: “What is your name?”
Looking at this ambiguous question, Xiao Wu was very confused. But she still replied with her name.
The paper ball hit Yan Xia for the third time. She put down her pen and suddenly raised her hand.
The invigilator looked at her and asked, “Is something wrong?”
Yan Xia stood up with a serious expression, sighing with regret: “Student Xiao Wu just passed me a note asking me to help her cheat. But knowing deeply that this is wrong, I refused. I didn’t expect her to repeatedly insult and threaten me, which has seriously affected my personal safety.”
Xiao Wu was completely stunned, shocked and angry: “You’re full of crap—”
The exam hall suddenly broke into an uproar.
“Damn, that’s savage!” “What’s the situation?”
It was also the first time the invigilator had encountered someone proactively reporting such a thing. Shocked, he adjusted his glasses and walked over, saying, “Let me see the note.”
Yan Xia handed it over. While he was reading the note, she turned her head and smiled at Xiao Wu. Her eyes and brows were very gentle; when she smiled, she looked like autumn afternoon sunlight. Yet Xiao Wu felt her hair stand on end, as if she had fallen into an ice cellar.
After reading the note and comparing it with Xiao Wu’s handwriting, the invigilator said, “That’s right, she definitely wrote it.”
Xiao Wu was powerless to defend herself: “I…”
Yan Xia switched back to her expressionless, serious face, her whole body radiating the “light of righteousness.” She said, “Teacher, I understand. This kind of cheating behavior cannot be shielded in the examination hall; it must be taken seriously. Tell me, am I doing the right thing?”
Seeing that they were both poor students, the invigilator had originally intended to just give a verbal warning, but being told this, he had to nod: “You are right. This kind of behavior truly cannot be tolerated.”
He tapped on Xiao Wu’s desk. “Alright, student, your eligibility for this exam is cancelled. I will report this to the Year Director.”
Xiao Wu: “…”
She gave Yan Xia a vicious glare: “You’ve got guts!” Then she kicked the desk and stormed out of the classroom without looking back.
Yan Xia sat down calmly amidst the astonished gazes of the crowd.
Seeing this, the invigilator shook his head. “What is wrong with students nowadays?” He looked at the quiet Yan Xia and comforted her, “Don’t let her affect you. Continue with your exam.”
Yan Xia nodded obediently: “Okay, thank you, Teacher.”
The invigilator couldn’t help but sigh: Both are poor students, so why is one so sensible? If only all these little brats were like her.
The afternoon exam was Mathematics. Yan Xia briefly browsed the paper; for her, it wasn’t difficult. She began to write diligently.
The underachievers next to her weren’t as relaxed. In their eyes, the math problems were like heavenly scripts unlike the liberal arts subjects, they couldn’t just make up random answers. Many people finished the questions they knew and started staring blankly at their desks or sleeping. Yan Xia, buried in her writing, looked like an outlier instead.
A few people wanted to ask her for answers but, remembering Xiao Wu’s fate, they all withdrew their hands. No one dared to disturb Yan Xia’s peace, and she quickly finished everything. With twenty minutes remaining, she checked everything once more.
Her attitude toward studying in the real world had always been very proper; no matter how confident she was in an exam, she had to check it upon finishing to ensure nothing went wrong.
As soon as the bell rang, Yan Xia turned in her paper immediately and walked out of the exam hall feeling light. Everyone watched her retreating silhouette with looks of mutual bewilderment.
Yan Xia immediately grabbed her backpack and dashed toward Class A.
Shang Wandong was standing at the door. She was tall and thin, very eye-catching, and surrounded by a group of people. Yan Xia pushed through the crowd and saw Fu Yuan smiling and saying to her, “Wandong, did you solve the last question?”
Shang Wandong nodded slightly, her gaze very cold. She didn’t seem to like being surrounded by so many people; her face was expressionless, but her brows were slightly furrowed.
Suddenly, a slender palm reached out in front of her. A faint lemon-fruit fragrance lingered like a dream, penetrating the noisy crowd just like before, surging toward her.
Shang Wandong was startled. Subconsciously, she placed her hand on it.
In the next second, that hand tightly gripped hers, and a force pulled her out of the crowd. The crowd immediately let out a burst of exclamations.
By the time Shang Wandong reacted, she had already been pulled down the stairs by Yan Xia. They ran forward as if in a desperate escape, passing through narrow stairwells where light and shadow intertwined and corridors where people came and went, with all the wind rushing toward them.
In front of her was the swaying black ponytail and a loose backpack. Shang Wandong couldn’t see every face clearly, but she felt everyone casting surprised glances their way. The sounds of breathing and heartbeats hammered heavily against her eardrums.
At the entrance of the teaching building, Yan Xia finally stopped, steadying her breathing, her pale cheeks slightly flushed. She suddenly began to laugh, her curved eyes clear and mischievous.
“Was it exhilarating?” Yan Xia asked. “It felt like we were eloping just now.”
Behind them, the sunset glow dragged a string of brilliant red clouds across the sky.
Shang Wandong looked at her silently. Neither of them let go of their joined hands, as if they had both forgotten at the same time.
