The Green Tea Omega Has Turned Bad - Chapter 15
Shang Wandong frowned upon hearing those words.
“Why would she be angry because of that?”
“Because… Fu Yuan seems to mind me very much,” Yan Xia lowered her head, her thick eyelashes trembling as she spoke in a wilted tone. “She might have misunderstood. I really didn’t mean to disturb you two.”
The System: “…Host, you’re just doing sit-ups. Aren’t you being a bit too much of a drama queen?”
Yan Xia replied with deep emotion: “System-chan, did I do something wrong again? I’m so sorry! I didn’t do it on purpose!”
The System: “…Thanks. I definitely feel the ‘green tea’ vibes.”
Shang Wandong looked thoughtful.
After a moment, she said, “I understand. I’ll explain it to her later.”
Yan Xia suddenly looked up, a trace of nervous emotion flickering in her dark, bright eyes. She gripped the hem of her shirt and asked in a small voice, “How is Sister going to explain it?”
Shang Wandong said indifferently, “Tell her not to mind it.”
Yan Xia: …You really are a straight shooter.
She twitched the corner of her mouth: “Then Sister, please don’t tell her that I said these things.”
Shang Wandong nodded: “Okay.”
After the two finished their sit-ups, Shang Wandong went to report their scores and happened to run into Fu Yuan nearby.
Seeing this, the other girl walked over, took the initiative to strike up a conversation, and asked with a smile, “Wandong, how was the cooperation with your younger sister?”
“It was alright.” Shang Wandong looked at her and hesitated for a moment. “About what happened just now don’t mind it.”
Fu Yuan was stunned, but then her heart leaped with joy: She actually noticed that I was uncomfortable just now? Could it be that she has been silently watching me all along?
One had to know that Shang Wandong was famous for “not acknowledging anyone,” let alone suddenly caring about someone’s emotions.
Could it be that Shang Wandong… actually has feelings for me too?
Thinking of this, Fu Yuan’s cheeks flushed slightly. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and said somewhat shyly, “It’s fine, I wasn’t angry.”
Shang Wandong nodded: “That’s good.”
Fu Yuan smiled tenderly: “You’re so thoughtful. You must be a great sister.”
Shang Wandong shook her head, however, and whispered, “I’m not.”
“Wandong, you are very good. Don’t underestimate yourself.”
Fu Yuan, believing their relationship had taken a step forward, moved a bit closer.
She was an Omega with a lovely face and an exquisite figure. Although she couldn’t compare to the person in front of her, she was still among the best in the class. Because she was lucky enough to be Shang Wandong’s desk mate, she felt she had the advantage of being “close to the water to catch the moon” and was confident she could win Shang Wandong over.
She asked suggestively, “Wandong, would you like to come to my house for dinner sometime? You can bring your sister along.”
Shang Wandong gave her a strange look, appearing completely baffled: “No need.”
Fu Yuan thought she was just being shy and smiled: “If you’re not used to it, I can go to your house as a guest instead…”
Unexpectedly, Shang Wandong replied expressionlessly, “Sorry, my family doesn’t have the habit of hosting strangers.”
Fu Yuan’s smile froze instantly on her face.
Just as she was trapped in one-sided awkwardness, Yan Xia appeared behind Shang Wandong with a beaming smile, her voice clear and bright: “Sister, what are you two talking about?”
She naturally placed her hand on Shang Wandong’s shoulder and shook her affectionately from side to side. Shang Wandong let herself be swayed by the movement, her face remaining expressionless.
However, Shang Wandong showed no sign of resistance. That coldness that usually kept people thousands of miles away had vanished without a trace.
“Nothing.”
Shang Wandong gave Fu Yuan a polite nod. “We’re going over to assemble now.”
Fu Yuan stood frozen on the spot, watching the two walk away side by side. Her eyes suddenly reddened, and a trace of resentment flickered in her gaze.
She had been Shang Wandong’s desk mate since the first year of high school and had spent nearly two years with her. She had worked so hard for so long… she thought she could at least be considered an acquaintance, but in the end, it was all for nothing.
After finishing the sit-ups and pull-ups for both classes, Teacher Liu blew his whistle. Once the crowd was lined up, he clapped his hands: “Alright, we have some time left. Let’s finish the 800-meter and 1000-meter tests.”
Wails and groans erupted from below, a scene of pure misery.
“Is he even human? How can we have the strength to run after doing sit-ups…”
“Damn… I’m going to fail again!”
“Help, my stomach is starting to hurt. Every time I run, I feel like I need the bathroom.”
Teacher Liu blew his whistle hard: “Stop shouting! Do you want to drag this out until after the midterms? Both classes will test together. Alphas, run the 1000-meter first.”
The Alphas were collectively driven onto the track, and Shang Wandong was among them. She was tall and fair, shining brightly under the sun, looking exceptionally striking.
Jiang He sighed: “The school beauty is really good-looking…”
She wasn’t the only one thinking that; several Omegas nearby couldn’t resist taking out their phones to snap photos of Shang Wandong.
The whistle blew, and the dark crowd spread forward. Shang Wandong ran in the leading pack. The sun was intense as she stepped through the dappled green shadows on the ground, her black ponytail whipping in the wind as she pumped her arms.
Yan Xia’s gaze followed her lap after lap, until her arm was suddenly nudged.
Jiang He pointed into the middle of the crowd with a giggle: “Xiao Xia, look quickly! Isn’t that your crush?”
…My crush?!
Yan Xia was stunned. Following Jiang He’s finger, she saw a girl with a bun tied up, trailing not far behind Shang Wandong. Her hair color was light, her limbs were fair and slender, and her features were gentle and bright a different kind of beauty compared to Shang Wandong.
Yan Xia suddenly remembered her name.
Luo Qiyuan of Class A, the former “White Moonlight” of the original novel’s female lead.
Luo Qiyuan was also the type of student who was good-looking and had excellent grades. But unlike Shang Wandong’s coldness, Luo Qiyuan was very popular because she was gentle and approachable, always wearing a smile for everyone.
Most Alphas had strong personalities, so Luo Qiyuan’s gentle and considerate type was rare and very popular among Omegas.
The reason the original female lead liked her was because Luo Qiyuan had stepped up to help her a few times when she was being bullied. Perhaps to Luo Qiyuan, helping someone was just a small gesture, but to the female lead who endured long-term neglect and lived in a world of darkness this was a rare ray of light.
Consequently, the female lead wrote a love letter to Luo Qiyuan. She tucked it into her desk drawer, hoping to meet Luo Qiyuan and get a definitive answer.
Luo Qiyuan didn’t do much. She showed up for the meeting and then politely rejected the female lead, just as she did with everyone else.
However, that love letter was leaked by someone, posted on the bulletin board, and spread throughout the entire school. Since the signature on the letter was “Yan Xia,” the female lead naturally became a target for many Omegas.
In the eyes of the vast majority, Yan Xia was simply not good enough for Luo Qiyuan.
In an instant, Yan Xia became the laughingstock of the school and suffered bullying from Luo Qiyuan’s admirers. It was at this time that Jiang He stood up to help her.
Jiang He posted on the school forum, responding: “This letter was a prank; I lost a bet with Yan Xia and wrote it in her tone. It was all in fun, she’s innocent, please stop attacking her.”
To back it up, she even posted her handwriting, which indeed looked very similar to the script in the love letter.
The matter gradually settled down.
However, as her desk mate, the female lead knew that Jiang He had beautiful handwriting and liked to imitate others’ styles. Therefore, mimicking her own handwriting was no problem. Because Jiang He helped her, the female lead remained grateful. From then on, Jiang He took on a sense of entitlement, borrowing money from the female lead and never returning it, taking advantage of her everywhere, and repeatedly “PUA-ing” (manipulating) her. The female lead, immersed in that initial gratitude, never noticed anything was wrong.
This part of the story wasn’t very long in the book, and Luo Qiyuan’s role was minimal, which is why Yan Xia hadn’t remembered it until now.
She lowered her head. Thinking she was shy, Jiang He teased, “How about it? Do you want to go after her?”
Yan Xia smiled but didn’t answer. Her gaze fell back onto Shang Wandong.
Shang Wandong was running in first place, leaving the second-place runner nearly half a lap behind. Her expression was calm, her fair forehead was beaded with sweat, and her cheeks were slightly flushed from the heat.
Seeing that the time was about right, Yan Xia stood up and walked toward the edge of the playground.
Jiang He was dumbfounded: “Where are you going?!”
Yan Xia waved her hand behind her without looking back: “To buy a bottle of water.”
She bought a bottle of mineral water at the canteen. By the time she hurried back to the playground, the 1000-meter test was over.
Shang Wandong stood behind the finish line, surrounded by a large crowd of chattering Omegas. Yan Xia squinted to look—she was surrounded three layers deep. Some were offering drinks, some tissues, some were fanning her… she had everything.
What kind of emperor treatment is this?
She looked at the mineral water in her hand and suddenly felt it was a bit meager.
Shang Wandong, however, ignored the crowd, keeping her head down to catch her breath. Yan Xia walked over and pushed through the crowd with determination.
The Omegas who were pushed aside shouted in annoyance: “What are you doing?”
“Stop squeezing, it’s so hot!”
“Who stepped on my shoe!”
“Sorry, sorry.” Yan Xia apologized while squeezing inward. After a bit of effort, she finally reached the spot closest to Shang Wandong.
She directly handed over the ice-cold mineral water.
Shang Wandong paused, her unfocused gaze gradually sharpening as she reached out to take the bottle.
Seeing this, Yan Xia couldn’t help but laugh: “Sister, you dare to take water when you don’t even know who handed it to you?”
“I smelled your pheromones.” Shang Wandong unscrewed the cap, her expression indifferent.
Many Omegas showed disappointed looks upon seeing this, turning their heads one after another to size up Yan Xia.
To the side, Teacher Liu shouted, “Don’t huddle together! Hurry up and register your scores! Starting from the last places, remember to report your student ID when called!”
The crowd dispersed like birds and beasts, and the suffocating heat of being surrounded faded away.
Shang Wandong tilted her head back to drink. The span of her neck was dazzlingly white, the lines of her throat shifting slightly as she swallowed.
Looking at her, Yan Xia suddenly felt like teasing her and asked, “You know what my pheromones smell like?”
Shang Wandong finished the water, her wet lips looking exceptionally rosy.
She said softly, “Lime… Green lime.”
“Oh…” Yan Xia rolled her eyes playfully and curled her lips. “With so many Omegas just now, you could still distinguish mine.”
Shang Wandong screwed the cap back on, looked at Yan Xia, and said softly, “Because yours is the easiest to recognize.”
The way she looked at someone was overly focused; there was an indescribable emotion in it, like a thick, heavy silken net wrapping Yan Xia up entirely.
In the height of summer, the sound of cicadas came from the camphor trees beside the track, long and lingering, distant and blurred.
Yan Xia’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.
For a moment, she didn’t know what to say. She turned her gaze away somewhat awkwardly, her face wearing her habitual smile: “Sister got first place. You’re amazing.”
Shang Wandong asked instead, “How did you know?”
Yan Xia lied: “Because I saw it just now!”
Shang Wandong shook her head: “You’re lying.”
Yan Xia felt a bit guilty: “How… how do you know! You were clearly running; could you even see me?”
