The Green Tea Omega Has Turned Bad - Chapter 14
Section 1
Before class began, Zhang Ying made her usual rounds to patrol Class F. With midterms approaching, she frequently wandered through the various classrooms to check on the students’ revision progress.
It was the height of midsummer, and the overhead electric fans whirred incessantly. Even on their highest setting, they failed to dispel the sweltering heat. The students were slumped over their desks, listless and weary.
“Everyone, snap out of it and study hard! The midterms are only a couple of days away!” Zhang Ying barked, rapping her knuckles on a desk with a stern expression. “Do you think I want to nag you? Once the exams are over, you can go as wild as you like!”
Jiang He propped up her head with one hand, holding a gel pen while staring blankly at her “Five-Three” exercise book, her mind wandering. Suddenly, a significant commotion erupted from the front row.
“Holy crap…”
Zhang Ying’s eyebrows shot up. “What’s going on? What’s all this noise about!”
She then heard a clear, soft voice coming from the doorway. “Teacher, reporting in!”
Zhang Ying turned her head. “Come in…”
Jiang He instinctively looked toward the front door and froze.
A girl stood at the entrance. Her lustrous black hair was shoulder-length, with wispy bangs resting against her forehead. Her features were small and delicate, and her skin possessed a sickly paleness that, instead of looking ill, gave her a pitiable, charming quality.
Zhang Ying stared at her for a moment before asking in confusion, “Student, are you in the wrong classroom?”
The girl smiled and said, “Teacher, I am Yan Xia.”
Zhang Ying clearly hadn’t processed this yet. She paused before slowly saying, “…Then, you may come in.”
Yan Xia nodded and walked with her long legs toward her seat by the window. The entire class was deathly silent, their eyes tracking Yan Xia’s every move until Zhang Ying slapped the desk and shouted, “Stop staring! Everyone, get back to your revision!”
Jiang He gripped her pen so tightly her knuckles turned white. As Yan Xia approached, she whispered, “…What happened to you today?”
“I just wanted a change of style,” Yan Xia replied, casually adjusting her bangs. “Does it look good?”
“Why did you cut it? I thought you looked fine before.” Looking at that beautiful face, Jiang He suppressed the displeasure in her heart and said slowly, “There’s no need to change yourself for others. Just be the way you like to be.”
Truly a master of PUA (Pick-Up Artist/Manipulation) tactics she made it sound so logical and justified. If the original host of this body had heard her, she likely would have believed it.
Yan Xia looked at Jiang He with feigned surprise. “But this is the way I like to be.”
The school bell rang, and Zhang Ying walked out of the classroom. The moment she left, the class exploded like a drop of water hitting boiling oil.
“Holy s***! Did you guys see that?! That was Yan Xia?”
“Damn, was she always that good-looking? As expected of the Yan family…”
“I think she’s even prettier than Yan Siqiu now. F***, I’m going to go get that haircut too!”
“Wake up. You’d need to change your face, not your hair.”
Zhong Quan, sitting in the front, suddenly spun around and scanned Yan Xia up and down. “You…”
Yan Xia looked up, puzzled. “What’s wrong?”
She had removed those heavy black-rimmed glasses. Her eyes, clear and gentle like lake water, tilted upward at the corners, carrying a thousand unspoken emotions. A sweet, fruity fragrance drifted through the air, weaving around like a fine net.
Zhong Quan’s face flushed unknowingly. Noticing the half-empty transparent water bottle on her desk, he stammered, “Are… are you thirsty? I’ll go get you some water.”
Yan Xia blinked, her eyes crinkling into a smile, her voice soft. “Sure, but class has already started. Go after class is over.”
Zhong Quan nodded blankly and turned back around, looking like he’d lost his soul. His seatmate glanced at him. “You’re so pathetic. Weren’t you the one calling her ‘trash’ every day before?”
Zhong Quan muttered, “How was I supposed to know she was this beautiful…”
The old Yan Xia always kept her head down, rarely spoke, and acted timidly toward everyone. She was gloomy, moving around like a transparent ghost. She had no presence, and no one liked her. But her current image appeared delicate and beautiful more like a fragile porcelain doll that no one had the heart to criticize.
Jiang He took all of this in, her expression growing increasingly dark.
After the first period ended, Yan Xia stood up from her seat. Jiang He suddenly called out to her, looking anxious. “Xia Xia, where are you going?”
Yan Xia: “I’m going to the restroom.”
Jiang He hurried to follow, putting an arm around her in a show of intimacy. “I need to go too. Let’s go together.”
The two walked out of the classroom. Since Jiang He was a Beta, she used a different restroom than Yan Xia, so they parted ways at the door.
The moment Jiang He entered a stall and closed the door, the smile vanished completely, replaced by a terrifying expression. As she finished and prepared to open the door, she heard several sets of footsteps outside.
A female voice said, “Hey, how did Yan Xia suddenly become like that?”
Jiang He paused, pulling her hand back from the door handle.
Another girl replied, “I know, right? If she’s that pretty, why did she make herself so ugly before?”
“Who knows, maybe she has weird taste. But those Alphas are really shallow they hated her before, and now that she’s pretty, they all want to chase her.”
“Don’t even get me started. A soft, weak Omega like Yan Xia really triggers an Alpha’s protective instinct.”
“Pfft, did you see Jiang He? When those two stood together before, it was like a green leaf highlighting a red flower now Yan Xia has become the red flower.”
“Jiang He isn’t ugly, she’s decent at best, but she’s way behind Yan Xia now.”
Jiang He’s hand trembled, her fingers curling into a tight fist. She stood quietly for a moment, waiting for the two girls to finish washing their hands before she stepped out.
Yan Xia was leaning against the railing outside the door waiting for her. She had her head slightly lowered, and the cool breeze ruffled her lustrous long hair. With her red lips and fair skin, she looked as striking as a painting, drawing the eyes of everyone passing by.
Jiang He’s gaze darkened. She quickly switched her expression, greeting her with a wide smile. “Xia Xia, sorry to keep you waiting.”
Yan Xia’s eyes swept over her briefly. Jiang He felt a jolt of alarm, but Yan Xia said nothing, simply curling her lips into a smile. “Let’s go.”
The second period was Physical Education. The sports representative organized everyone to gather at the playground. As Yan Xia walked toward the stairs, she heard people beside her saying, “Are we having class with Class A this period?”
“Yeah.”
Class A? Wouldn’t that mean she’d see Shang Wandong?
At the thought, Yan Xia’s footsteps became much lighter. When they arrived downstairs, there were indeed many unfamiliar faces on the field besides Class F.
With a quick scan, Yan Xia spotted Shang Wandong in the crowd. She was tall and slender, with a cold, elegant demeanor that stood out like a crane among a flock of chickens. She stood there with an aura that clearly signaled “do not disturb.”
Just as Yan Xia was about to walk over, the PE teacher blew his whistle. “Fall in!”
She had no choice but to return to Class F and stand in line according to her student ID number.
The PE teacher, Mr. Liu, was a tall man standing at 1.9 meters with a very sturdy build. He stood with his hands on his hips and shouted with full vigor, “Class A’s teacher has something to take care of, so I’ll be taking over their class as well.”
Whispers broke out among the Class F students.
“Does that mean we get to have class with the School Beauty?”
“Hell yeah!”
In contrast, Class A was much calmer; most people remained indifferent. Someone asked, “Teacher, what are we doing this period?”
“Warm-up exercises first, then two laps of slow jogging,” Mr. Liu announced. “The midterms are coming up, so I don’t plan on doing a regular lesson—”
Cheers erupted from the crowd.
“—We’re doing physical fitness testing instead,” Mr. Liu added.
The crowd immediately broke into groans and laments. “Crap! No! Not that—”
“What do you mean ‘no’? You have to test eventually; better to get it over with. Alright, hurry up and warm up so you don’t pull a muscle.”
Everyone spread out, half-heartedly following the sports rep in hip rotations and waist bends. Once the agonizing warm-up was over, Mr. Liu sat on a small stool under the shade of a tree, pulled out a chart, and said, “We’ll start with sit-ups. Find a partner, and you can start testing once you’re ready.”
Jiang He turned around, about to speak to Yan Xia, only to see Yan Xia already walking toward Class A. She widened her eyes in shock as she watched Yan Xia approach Shang Wandong, gently tug at the other girl’s sleeve, and say something with a smile.
Shang Wandong didn’t reject her as she usually did with others; instead, she gave a small nod.
The people nearby began to gossip: “Who is that girl? From Class F? I don’t think I’ve seen her before…”
“A new transfer student? She’s so cute.”
Yan Xia walked through the crowd, countless gazes of envy, surprise, and admiration landing on her, but she only looked at Shang Wandong at the end of her path.
As if sensing her, Shang Wandong turned her head and met Yan Xia’s eyes. From beginning to end, her gaze remained unchanged calm and steady like an eternal rock that wouldn’t shift regardless of the passage of time or the changing of the tides.
In that instant, Yan Xia seemed to understand why the female lead would fall for Shang Wandong. Whether her outward appearance was “ugly” or “beautiful,” Shang Wandong’s perspective would never change because of it.
Having successfully secured her partner, Yan Xia asked, “Sister, should I go first?”
Just as Shang Wandong was about to answer, a smiling voice came from beside them. “Wandong, who is this?”
Yan Xia’s gaze shifted to the source of the voice. It was a tall girl with a high ponytail and upright features who was scrutinizing her closely.
Shang Wandong said, “This is Yan Xia.”
The girl smiled, her tone meaningful. “So you are Yan Xia? You seem a bit different from the rumors.”
From her tone, Yan Xia detected a faint, subtle hint of hostility.
The system became extremely excited: Ooh! A love rival! A wild love rival has appeared!
Yan Xia returned the smile. “Hello.” She then looked at Shang Wandong and raised an eyebrow. “Sister, aren’t you going to introduce us?”
Shang Wandong seemed not to notice the undercurrent of tension between the two. “My seatmate, Fu Yuan,” she said expressionlessly.
“Are you two paired up?” Fu Yuan said with a smile. “Wandong and I usually pair together. A new friend suddenly joining today makes me a bit unaccustomed.”
“Is that so?” Yan Xia blinked. “Thank you for taking care of my sister.”
“You’re welcome, it’s only right.” Fu Yuan’s smile remained unchanged as she looked at Shang Wandong and said softly, “Then I’ll go find someone else. If there’s any problem, feel free to find me, Wandong.”
Shang Wandong didn’t speak, and Fu Yuan didn’t seem to mind, turning to leave. Yan Xia watched her back, her brow slowly furrowing. She turned back to Shang Wandong, her eyes flickering and her lips pursed, looking inexplicably aggrieved.
Shang Wandong asked, confused, “What is it?”
“Sister,” Yan Xia lowered her eyes, her voice sounding dejected. “Didn’t you say I was your only friend?”
Shang Wandong froze. “…She isn’t a friend.”
“Really?” Yan Xia tilted her head. “But you’ve paired up so many times before. Am I interrupting you guys?”
“No. Just a classmate,” Shang Wandong said calmly. “It doesn’t matter who I pair with.”
Yan Xia sighed inwardly: What a ruthless woman. If Fu Yuan heard that, her heart would probably shatter on the spot.
She then proceeded to delicately sow discord. “Then… if I do sit-ups with you, your seatmate won’t be angry, will she? I felt like she was really scary just now…”
