The Gloomy Overseas Student Rewards His Hubby With Some Thirst Traps - Chapter 12
Chapter 12
Yu Yanshuang’s eyes widened. Thanks to his genetics, Sane’s features were incredibly deep and sharp; being held by the face and spoken to like that made Yu Yanshuang nearly sink into that fleeting moment of tenderness.
He immediately broke free from Sane’s hold and asked hesitantly, “Are you really homophobic?”
Sane gave a faint smile, saying without blinking an eye, “You might have misunderstood. I don’t discriminate against homosexuals, and I’m not exactly ‘afraid’ of them. I just can’t accept a man being too intimate with me.”
“You… you… if you can’t accept it, what kind of man holds another man’s face while talking to him!” Yu Yanshuang questioned.
“It’s etiquette. Besides, I needed you to look into my eyes so you would know my sincerity.”
Sane spoke slowly, leaning back into his seat with ease. He rested one hand on the steering wheel while hiding the other; his thumb lightly brushed his fingertips, relishing the soft, delicate sensation from moments ago.
That explanation makes some sense… Yu Yanshuang didn’t press further. Instead, he asked, “Why are you trying to please me?”
Sane gave him a meaningful look.
The look made Yu Yanshuang feel a bit creeped out.
What is it? That look felt so ambiguous. Is it just because Sane is so handsome that every move he makes carries a special meaning that’s easy to misunderstand? Or is he actually flighty underneath that cold, sharp exterior?
Flighty… Yu Yanshuang thought to himself that if he could prove Sane was flighty, he’d have another piece of blackmail. Everyone would be so disappointed in the high-and-mighty, clean-living Sane!
“Yu, Rodney is handsome and generous. I was worried you would side with him—after all, you hold the very thing I’m most afraid of leaking,” Sane said.
So that’s why…
Yu Yanshuang had an “aha” moment. So what do I have to be afraid of? Sane’s biggest secret was in his hands!
He said provocatively, “Then you’d better do a good job of pleasing me! I’m a very fickle guy.”
Hearing this, Sane was almost tempted to laugh from anger. He stared fixedly at Yu Yanshuang.
The little guy tilted his chin up and pointed an impolite finger at Sane. “Now, I accept your first attempt at pleasing me. I want to try driving this car.”
…
Vroom! Vroom!
The exaggerated roar of the exhaust echoed through Chinatown. With a smooth drift, Yu Yanshuang brought the car to a steady stop at the curb. He exclaimed, “Wow, wow, wow! This is great! Too great! That G-force, that acceleration!”
Sane chuckled. “Next time I’ll take you to the mountains.”
“Really?” Yu Yanshuang’s dark eyes sparkled. The next moment, his stomach let out a loud growl.
His face instantly turned beet red.
Knock, knock.
Before Yu Yanshuang could succumb to embarrassment, Rodney appeared at the passenger window. Seeing Yu Yanshuang in the driver’s seat, he was floored with surprise.
Sane’s expression darkened, clearly displeased at being interrupted. However, seeing Yu Yanshuang happily get out of the car, his face turned cold again.
As soon as they stepped out, they were surrounded—mostly Yu Yanshuang.
“Yu, Sane actually let you drive? What did you say to him? He won’t even let me touch it!” Rodney asked.
Garcia leaned in and whispered, “Your driving is so cool! Did you used to play with supercars?”
Sane found the two of them incredibly noisy. He reached out and put his hand on Yu Yanshuang’s shoulder, pulling him out from between the two. Feeling the thin shoulder under his palm, he stealthily slid his hand down to squeeze the arm. Feeling the soft skin, his expression finally improved.
Yu Yanshuang didn’t notice at all. He was feeling secretly smug that Sane was pleasing him so much and even helping him out of a tight spot. He couldn’t explain Rodney’s question and didn’t want to answer Garcia’s. If Garcia started asking why he didn’t drive supercars anymore, wouldn’t that be embarrassing?
Haha, taking those intimate photos with Sane was definitely the right move! Since coming to America, Yu Yanshuang had never felt this good.
“You two are the ones on a date; why are you constantly staring at Yu?” Sane frowned, casting a displeased glance at the two who were trying to keep up.
Rodney and Garcia both stopped. For a moment, the same thought flashed through both their minds: Wait, you barely know him, what’s it to you?
But neither dared to say anything, especially Garcia. He was even starting to regret dressing up so nicely for dinner. More than Sane ignoring him, what bothered him was that Yu Yanshuang seemed perfectly fine with Sane’s arm around his shoulder.
When did they meet? When did they get so close?
Garcia had lived with Yu Yanshuang for so long, and if he even got a little bit close, Yu Yanshuang would dodge him like he’d seen a ghost.
Yu Yanshuang really hadn’t noticed. All his vigilance was reserved for actual gay men; he wasn’t nearly as guarded against a “straight man” like himself.
The door opened, and the bustle of the Chinese restaurant poured out.
“Food’s coming out!” “Table 23 needs an order of Fish-Fragrant Eggplant!”
Hearing the familiar Chinese and smelling the aroma of Chinese cooking while seeing the steaming dishes, Yu Yanshuang felt a warmth start from his stomach.
Once seated, Yu Yanshuang took the menu from Sane—to be precise, Rodney had tried to hand it over, but Sane snatched it away and gave it to Yu Yanshuang.
Yu Yanshuang stared at the menu, feeling a bit dazed. He hadn’t been in America for long, but seeing Chinese characters felt like a lifetime ago.
Rodney asked, “Yu, you should know what’s best here, right?”
Yu Yanshuang hesitated and looked at him. “Do you have any allergies? Can you eat spicy food? Any other preferences?”
“I’m not allergic to anything, but you—”
Sane interrupted Rodney. “I have many allergies. Why didn’t you ask me?”
After speaking, he shot Rodney a look of condemnation, signaling him to remember that Garcia was right there.
Rodney was about to explode with rage! He couldn’t understand what Sane was doing. Since when did Sane have allergies? He’d never heard of any.
Rodney tried to make another move. He had learned that Chinese people like to scald their chopsticks and bowls with hot water before eating. He expertly took the plastic basin and the hot water kettle and began rinsing the white porcelain, not forgetting to praise: “What beautiful Chinese plates.”
Yu Yanshuang: “…” Those were just the most ordinary, cheap, shrink-wrapped bowls from a restaurant.
Garcia secretly nudged Yu Yanshuang, reminding him not to forget their goal today.
Yu Yanshuang gave a gentle smile and used a very strange tone to praise him: “You’re truly sophisticated.”
He said it in Chinese.
Rodney didn’t understand Chinese; he was just momentarily dazed by Yu Yanshuang’s smile. Even among Caucasians, Yu Yanshuang’s skin was as white as Chinese idioms described—like flawless white jade or snow-covered frost. Sitting in the Chinese-style pavilion, sunlight seemed to favor him; his smile was like a peach blossom, so beautiful it made Rodney’s heart skip a beat.
“Ouch…” Rodney snapped back to reality after being scalded by the water.
Just as Yu Yanshuang was about to feign concern and hand over a cooler teacup, Sane’s expression had turned terrifyingly dark.
Sane didn’t understand the mocking sarcasm behind “You’re truly sophisticated” in Chinese. He only knew that Yu Yanshuang, who never gave him a good look, was treating Rodney like this. The little guy really is fickle.
“Ignore him. Rugby players are thick-skinned. Look at the menu, you’re hungry,” Sane said, pressing down on Yu Yanshuang’s wrist to prevent him from standing up. Their hands became entwined beneath the dining table.
The other two were completely unaware of the undercurrents between Sane and Yu Yanshuang. Yu Yanshuang tried to pull away, but his slender wrist couldn’t break free from that large, bony hand.
“Let go!” Yu Yanshuang frowned and whispered.
Two grown men holding hands like this is so weird, especially hiding it under the table. It made Yu Yanshuang feel extremely odd.
Rodney was already confused by Sane’s behavior throughout the trip. Seeing Yu Yanshuang about to pay attention to him only to be interrupted by Sane again, he held onto a shred of sanity. He squeezed out a smile, suppressed his anger, and said, “Sane, want to go out for a smoke?”
Sane looked at Rodney coldly. Seeing that he still hadn’t given up, Sane felt only disdain. He finally let go of Yu Yanshuang’s hand and tilted his sharp chin upward; Rodney knew what that meant.
The two men stepped out of the booth. Both were large men, but Sane was half a head taller than Rodney with a more perfect physique. As they walked through the hall, everyone’s eyes fell on them.
Standing at the corner of the busy street, Rodney said urgently, “Sane, have a heart. All I want is Yu Yanshuang’s contact info. I’ll give Garcia a generous breakup fee. We’re brothers—if you won’t help me, fine, but please stop sabotaging me! You don’t even like him!”
“He doesn’t like you either. Stop doing unnecessary things,” Sane said coldly.
“Ha! He’s straight, of course he doesn’t like me! That’s why I have to chase him!”
Sane leaned in. Because he was taller and standing on a step, he looked down at Rodney and said, “I don’t like your game of trying to ‘turn’ straight guys. He reminds me of my cousin. Rodney, you are a friend I allow to stay close to me. If possible, I don’t want to have to find a new friend.”
Rodney opened his mouth. He wasn’t as cold-looking as Sane; in fact, he was the playboy type, always smiling and truly easygoing. But now, his whole face turned incredibly grim. Sane’s unprovoked threat—or perhaps the long-term resentment of always having to bow to Sane—made him snap.
“Sane, like the cousin you outshined? Or the one you sent to—”
Clack.
Sane threw his car keys at Rodney, interrupting him. He said indifferently, “Take it and go pick up someone else.”
The keys to a multi-million dollar car hit Rodney’s chest and thudded onto the ground, but they also instantly snapped Rodney back to his senses. He had almost misspoke. If he angered Sane, he couldn’t afford the family’s wrath.
Bending down to pick up the keys, Rodney returned to his usual joking self. “Sane, since you like him, I’ll leave him to you to relieve your boredom. I’ll borrow the car; I’ll wash it and bring it back later.”
Sane didn’t respond, not even giving him a second glance. He never felt the need to explain his thoughts to anyone.
…
Back in the booth, Garcia took advantage of the others being away. He had been observing the tension between Sane and Yu Yanshuang for a long time—there was definitely something going on!
He immediately asked, “Yu! Why are you so familiar with Sane? He seems to really like you! I’ve never seen him be so patient with someone or talk so much!”
Yu Yanshuang was still rubbing his wrist. Sane’s fingertips were so rough; even after a while, the strong sensation was still prominent.
Hearing Garcia’s question, he lifted his chin from the menu, the corners of his mouth curling up with a hint of pride. “It’s obvious. He’s trying to please me.”
Garcia’s eyes widened slightly. “He’s pleasing you? How is that possible?! Does he… does he like you too? I mean that kind of like. Like, he wants to sleep with you!”
“Shut up! What nonsense!” Yu Yanshuang, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, immediately denied it excitedly. “Of course not! Don’t you know he hates homosexuals? You wouldn’t understand; I have a very powerful advantage over him.”
Looking at Yu Yanshuang’s proud expression, Garcia didn’t know what to say. He thought the only “powerful advantage” Yu Yanshuang had was probably his face—it was just too exquisite and beautiful.
While the two were out, Yu Yanshuang lowered his voice: “What do you think is the most outrageous thing you could do to a homophobic straight guy?”
Garcia looked at Yu Yanshuang strangely. If Yu Yanshuang’s expression wasn’t so incredibly innocent without a hint of flirtatiousness, he would have suspected he was being teased. The answer to that question involved every single thing he wanted to do to Yu Yanshuang.
But if he joked about it, Yu Yanshuang would definitely explode. Garcia smiled and winked playfully: “Of course, it’s riding him. The very rough kind.”
“Riding who?”
Sane happened to push the door open and enter, a playful smile on his face as his gaze drifted toward Yu Yanshuang.
Yu Yanshuang suddenly remembered that night—the massive object that had nearly pressed against his stomach.
Followed closely by a sharp, nervous cramp in his belly.
