The General's Love Glitch - Chapter 58 [FINALE]
Jun Jue’s hand froze mid-air, her face overtaken by an expression mingling shock and delight.
That impossible conjecture seemed to have been confirmed.
Was Weiwei pregnant?
Jun Jue took a deep breath, her hand slowly and gently resting on Ruan Wei’s slightly rounded, adorable belly.
Ruan Wei didn’t understand the meaning behind Jun Jue’s actions, only noticing how her expression had suddenly turned serious, which made her heart flutter with unease.
“Sister, do I really have some serious illness?”
An illness that even a vampire couldn’t heal.
If it were something trivial, like when her belly had swollen from overeating before, it would have gone down quickly, especially with some digestive aids.
But now, her belly showed no signs of shrinking. Instead, it was steadily growing larger.
“Sister…” Ruan Wei called out anxiously.
Jun Jue soothingly pulled Ruan Wei into her arms, guiding her hand to rest on her belly as well. With a tender smile, she said, “Weiwei, we’re going to be mothers.”
“Mo…thers?” Ruan Wei’s eyes widened in astonishment.
“But didn’t you say… that as long as no pheromones were released during that, pregnancy wouldn’t happen?” Ruan Wei asked in disbelief, clearly remembering Jun Jue’s words.
“Mm.” Jun Jue nodded, squeezing Ruan Wei’s hand before leaning close to her ear and whispering, “There was one time before the wedding.”
Ruan Wei thought back carefully, there had been such an occasion.
She buried her face in Jun Jue’s chest, her heart settling somewhat.
“Sister, do we really have a baby?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Ruan Wei felt another sharp pain in her belly, as if something inside had given a little kick.
A fine sheen of sweat formed at her temples. Jun Jue, heart aching, gently wiped it away before helping Ruan Wei lie steadily on the bed. Then, she pressed her cheek against Ruan Wei’s belly and murmured,
“Baby, don’t torment your mama anymore. It hurts her.”
Jun Jue knew the child inside Ruan Wei was still too small to understand her words, but she tried communicating anyway.
The moment she finished speaking, she felt a faint nudge against her cheek where it touched Ruan Wei’s belly.
Jun Jue immediately looked up at Ruan Wei, who, despite her tiredness, smiled brightly at her. “Sister, I think the baby understood you.”
Jun Jue stroked Ruan Wei’s belly again and whispered to the little life inside, “Be good.”
From then on, the baby behaved obediently. Reassured that she wasn’t just inexplicably gaining weight, Ruan Wei drifted off to sleep peacefully.
Jun Jue, however, lay awake for a long time, unable to sleep. She was utterly sleepless.
She hadn’t expected that single time before their wedding to result in a pregnancy. The unexpected joy overwhelmed her.
After Ruan Wei had fallen into sweet dreams, Jun Jue quietly kissed her lips, then moved to her belly. Paying no mind to how tiny the baby still was, she whispered a stream of instructions, telling the child to be good while inside their mother, to grow up quickly after birth, to protect and cherish their mama.
…
The next morning, Ruan Wei woke up and instinctively turned to look beside her. Not seeing Jun Jue’s face, she glanced down and found her sleeping by her waist, one hand lightly resting against the curve of her belly.
Propping herself up on her elbow, Ruan Wei slowly sat up and stroked her own belly. “Baby, Mama loves you very much. Grow up healthy and happy, okay?”
Her belly gave a faint twitch in response, sweeping away all the worries and gloom from the day before.
When Jun Jue awoke, she saw Ruan Wei already sitting up, her gaze tender as her pink fingertips gently tapped her belly.
Jun Jue’s heart stirred as she sat up and, taking advantage of Ruan Wei’s momentary surprise, planted a kiss on her cheek.
When Ruan Wei turned to look at her, Jun Jue had one hand resting on the small of her back and the other cradling the bend of her knees, lifting her effortlessly into her arms.
Ruan Wei quickly wrapped her arms around Jun Jue’s neck and asked, “Does this make me feel lighter?”
Jun Jue chuckled. “You’re not heavy at all.”
After freshening up and heading downstairs for breakfast, Uncle Zhang, who was waiting nearby, widened his cloudy old eyes in astonishment at the sight of Ruan Wei.
He had been fortunate enough to witness the era before the Federation ordered the extermination of vampires. Back then, many humans married vampires, though more often, humans married humans, and vampires married vampires.
Children born to vampire couples typically grew quickly, sparing their mothers the hardship of a ten-month pregnancy. Offspring of human-vampire unions, with their diluted vampire heritage, also developed faster than those of pure human couples.
Judging by the speed at which Madam Weiwei was showing, it seemed the genes of the Chief Executive and Madam Weiwei were highly compatible, effectively promoting the growth and development of the fetus.
“Congratulations, Chief Executive. Congratulations, Madam Weiwei.”
Ruan Wei softly replied, “Thank you, Uncle Zhang.”
“Uncle Zhang, from now on, we’ll need to adjust Weiwei’s diet. I’ll leave that in your capable hands,” Jun Jue said with a smile.
“Rest assured, Chief Executive. I will strictly oversee everything to ensure Madam Weiwei and the unborn child are well taken care of.”
After breakfast, Jun Jue held Ruan Wei’s hand, slowing her pace as they walked together toward the hovercar parked in the yard.
Ruan Wei asked, “Sister, are you taking me to work yourself?”
“Yes. But not to work, first for a prenatal checkup, then home to rest. I’ve done some research. Given your current condition, the pregnancy won’t be too long. Focus on recuperating at home. Work can wait until after the baby is born.”
“Okay.”
At the hospital for her prenatal checkup, Ruan Wei first visited the children to apologize for needing to take another leave of absence.
The children’s eyes sparkled as they understandingly said, “Sister Weiwei, you need to rest well to have a healthy baby.”
“Will the baby be a little brother or sister?”
“I need to think about what gift to prepare for the little one!”
…
The children showered Ruan Wei with concern before launching into excited discussions about her baby, warming her heart.
Noticing the time, Jun Jue said to the children, “Everyone, be sure to listen to the doctors. I need to take Sister Weiwei for her checkup now, but we’ll visit you again soon.”
“Chief Executive, take good care of Sister Weiwei!” the children called out, waving.
Jun Jue nodded. “I will.”
“Let’s go, Weiwei.”
Ruan Wei waved back at the children before leaving the ward with Jun Jue for the examination room.
“The baby has already formed and is this big, very healthy. Congratulations, Chief Executive and Madam Weiwei.”
“Thank you.”
After carefully listening to the doctor’s instructions, Jun Jue took Ruan Wei home to rest.
“Weiwei.”
Just as they stepped out of the hospital, someone called from behind. Both turned around.
“It’s Tian Tian,” Ruan Wei said happily.
“Sister, can you wait a moment? I’d like to talk to Tian Tian.”
“Of course.” Jun Jue waited until Tian Tian came over to support Ruan Wei before stepping aside.
“Weiwei, I never expected you to get pregnant so quickly! Congratulations, you’re going to be a mom.” Tian Tian was genuinely happy for her.
“Thank you. You’ll be a mom one day too.”
“Me?” Tian Tian sighed, glancing down before shrugging. “I really want a child, but…”
“It’s still early. You just got married not long ago.”
“Weiwei, did you do anything to prepare for pregnancy?” Tian Tian asked.
Ruan Wei thought carefully and shook her head, she hadn’t done anything special, just cooperated with Jun Jue.
When Ruan Wei truthfully told Tian Tian this, Tian Tian looked shocked.
“What? Just once? The Chief Executive is way too impressive.”
Tian Tian’s words came out a little too loud, and Jun Jue, standing not far away, overheard. Her face flushed with heat, relieved that she was facing away from Ruan Wei and Tian Tian at that moment.
A few minutes later, Ruan Wei finished her conversation with Tian Tian and called out, “Sister, let’s go home.”
After saying goodbye to Tian Tian, Jun Jue escorted Ruan Wei home before heading to work.
…
Within days, news of Ruan Wei’s pregnancy spread across the entire star system.
Ruan Wei spent her days resting at home. To maintain her figure as much as possible, she did some gentle exercises, though she felt a bit embarrassed with Uncle Zhang watching over her.
That afternoon, Tao Xinran and Sun Qian came to keep her company.
Being among girls, Ruan Wei felt much more at ease, though she occasionally gave the two older sisters a scare.
“Weiwei, that move is risky, don’t do it!”
“Weiwei, don’t move! Whatever you need, I’ll get it for you!”
…
Over the weekend, the Jiang sisters: Jiang Lan, Jiang Tang, and Jiang Li also came to visit.
Jiang Lan, being more solemn, offered some formal words of blessing.
Jiang Tang stared at Ruan Wei’s belly for a while before saying, “Will Xinran look like Madam Weiwei when she gets pregnant too?”
The remark sent Tao Xinran fleeing in embarrassment, with Jiang Tang immediately chasing after her.
Jiang Li, meanwhile, asked curiously, “Madam Weiwei, can you feel the baby kicking?”
“Yes.”
Tian Tian also visited, bringing handmade gifts from a few children for Ruan Wei’s unborn baby.
Each gift was crafted with care, paper flowers, butterflies, cloth dolls, and even a mech assembled from building blocks.
“Please thank the children for me.”
Ruan Wei also prepared some cute little gifts in return, asking Tian Tian to deliver them to the kids.
…
Days passed in warm, quiet simplicity.
On the 3rd month and 7th day of her pregnancy, Ruan Wei was wheeled into the delivery room. Jun Jue rushed to the hospital and stayed by her bedside, but Ruan Wei, exhausted, fell into shock.
The doctors were in chaos. In the critical moment, Jun Jue tapped into her psychic energy, and the baby inside Ruan Wei seemed to sense it, fighting its way out on its own.
The doctors, witnessing this near-miraculous event, froze in astonishment for a few seconds before resuming their work. A nurse carried the newborn, who had emerged on its own, away to be cleaned while the remaining doctors did everything they could to save Madam Weiwei.
With Jun Jue’s psychic energy and the doctors’ combined efforts, Ruan Wei slowly opened her eyes.
Jun Jue gripped her hand tightly. Ruan Wei’s dry lips moved slightly, and Jun Jue immediately leaned in to listen.
“Blood…” Ruan Wei whispered.
Jun Jue dismissed the doctors, shut the door, and unbuttoned the high collar of her military uniform. She brought her neck to the weakened Ruan Wei’s lips.
Weak and feeble, Ruan Wei’s small fangs lacked strength, taking quite a while to barely break Jun Jue’s skin. Warm blood trickled out in a slow, meandering stream.
After drinking some of Jun Jue’s blood, Ruan Wei regained a bit of strength and said, “Sister, I want to see our baby.”
Jun Jue opened the door and took their child from the nurse, quickly learning the correct way to hold a newborn. The baby, with only two tiny milk teeth, stared at her with a cold expression.
Yet, Jun Jue’s heart melted with tenderness.
“Congratulations, Chief Executive and Madam Weiwei, it’s a little princess!” the nurse exclaimed excitedly.
The little princess flailed her tiny limbs, expressionlessly grabbing onto the medal on Jun Jue’s military uniform.
Jun Jue let her hold it, carrying her over to Ruan Wei.
The moment she reached Ruan Wei, the little princess calmed down, releasing Jun Jue’s medal and eagerly wriggling to be held by Ruan Wei, even breaking into a wide, toothless grin.
Jun Jue gently handed the baby to Ruan Wei and said softly, “Weiwei, our baby likes you more.”
…
After a few days in the hospital, they returned home. Both Jun Jue and Ruan Wei, being first-time mothers, were a bit overwhelmed. Fortunately, Uncle Zhang was there, experienced in childcare.
Holding the little princess, Uncle Zhang chuckled as she tugged at his recently grown beard. “She’s just like the Chief Executive when she was little, same cold face, same love for pulling my beard.”
There was another similarity, both the Chief Executive and the little princess adored Madam Weiwei.
“Sister, what were you like as a child?” Ruan Wei asked one night, nestled in Jun Jue’s arms.
Jun Jue thought back to Uncle Zhang’s words earlier that day and pursed her lips, saying nothing.
Ruan Wei then said, “Sister, we still haven’t named our baby yet.”
“What should we name her? ‘Jun’ something?”
“Let her take your surname,” Jun Jue suddenly said.
“And childbirth is too dangerous. One child is enough for us.”
The memory of Ruan Wei going into shock during labor nearly drove Jun Jue mad.
“Okay,” Ruan Wei murmured, nuzzling closer to Jun Jue.
After a while, she suggested, “How about Ruan Jun?”
“Combining both surnames is trendy these days. They say there’s even a hidden heart between the two names, ‘Ruan loves Jun,’ Ruan Jun.”
Little Ruan Jun grew up fast. By six months, she could already speak. The first word she called was “Ruan Wei,” but interestingly, she addressed Jun Jue and Ruan Wei differently.
For Jun Jue, she used “Māma” (first tone, then neutral tone), a normal tone. But for Ruan Wei, it was “Mǎmǎ” (both in the third tone, drawn out), filled with obvious delight and joy.
“Māma,” little Ruan Jun called out to Jun Jue now.
Jun Jue walked over to her daughter, who was playing a mecha combat game, and asked gently, “What does the little princess need?”
“Where’s my mǎmǎ?”
Jun Jue: “…How about Māma plays the game with you?”
“No.” Little Ruan Jun turned her head away, pouting. “I want my mǎmǎ.”
“Your mǎmǎ went canyon flying with Auntie Tao and Auntie Sun today. She might be back late.”
“I wanna fly too!” Knowing she had a quarter vampire bloodline, little Ruan Jun believed she would one day grow wings like her mǎmǎ. She clamored to take off like a fledgling, eager to awaken her flying abilities.
Jun Jue couldn’t help but laugh. In this regard, the little princess was just like Ruan Wei.
Jun Jue built a small raised platform at home for the little princess, padded underneath with soft foam.
Little Ruan Jun tried multiple times but ended up lying exhausted on a pile of foam, completely drained of energy. Jun Jue picked her daughter up and heard her ask again, “When is mǎmǎ coming back?”
Whenever Ruan Wei was away from home, Jun Jue had to endure countless questions like, “Where’s my mǎmǎ?” or “When will mǎmǎ be back?”
Jun Jue replied, “Māma is also waiting for your mǎmǎ to come back.”
So, when Ruan Wei returned from her canyon flight, she saw Jun Jue and little Ruan Jun sitting at the doorstep, waiting for her, one big, one small.
For a moment, it felt like she was seeing Jun Jue as a child again. She quickly folded her wings and hurried over.
Jun Jue and the little one stood up together. The child dashed forward, while Jun Jue followed closely behind, keeping a protective eye on her.
“Mǎmǎ…” The little girl spread her arms, and Ruan Wei bent down to scoop her up.
Jun Jue stopped in her tracks, standing still, her arms hesitating between opening and staying put.
Ruan Wei blinked at her, holding their daughter with one arm while reaching out with the other to take Jun Jue’s hand.
Only then did Jun Jue manage a faint smile.
That night, as Jun Jue and Ruan Wei were about to close their bedroom door, little Ruan Jun appeared, clutching her pillow.
“I want to sleep with Mǎmǎ,” the little girl declared matter-of-factly.
Jun Jue silently picked up her own pillow and prepared to move to the guest room.
Not long after, there was a knock on the guest room door. Little Ruan Jun stood there with her pillow, ready to apologize.
“Māma, I’m sorry. I didn’t know you needed Mǎmǎ’s company more at night. I’ll go back to my own room to sleep. Māma, you should go back too, Mǎmǎ is waiting for you.” The not-yet-one-year-old delivered this entire speech before hugging her pillow and leaving.
Jun Jue sat on the bed, feeling increasingly awkward. She wanted to go back but was too embarrassed. Finally mustering the courage to approach the door, she ended up closing it again instead.
Suddenly, an opposing force stopped her from shutting it completely. Jun Jue paused, and Ruan Wei slipped inside.
Ruan Wei had changed into a red spaghetti-strap nightgown, the fabric as fiery as flames against her snow-white skin.
Jun Jue suddenly felt parched.
“Sister, don’t you want to sleep with me tonight?”
Jun Jue swallowed hard, her hand instinctively reaching out to pull Ruan Wei in by her slender waist. She shut the door firmly, locked it, and pinned Ruan Wei against it.
“Sister?”
Jun Jue swallowed twice more, struggling to restrain herself. Ruan Wei had recovered well after childbirth, quickly regaining her figure, and her athletic physique only made her more beautiful.
Her hand on Ruan Wei’s waist burned with heat, desperate to move, yet she fought to hold back.
Ruan Wei rose onto her tiptoes, looping her arms around Jun Jue’s neck, and whispered in her ear, “Sister, I only gave birth to one baby. So why does it feel like there are two now?”
Fairness demanded that both be pampered.
“Sister, I love you the most.”
“Don’t you want to kiss me?”
Ruan Wei leaned even closer, their scorching breaths mingling before she pressed her lips to Jun Jue’s.
Jun Jue could hold back no longer.
…
“Weiwei, say you love me.”
Ruan Wei, no longer in control of her own body, squeezed her eyes shut.
“I love you.”
“I’ll love you forever.”
(The End)
