The General's Love Glitch - Chapter 44
Ruan Wei froze for a moment, staring at Jun Jue with a look of astonishment.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Jun Jue gently ruffled Ruan Wei’s hair.
Ruan Wei licked her lips and said, “General, you once told me you didn’t like physical contact. Have you forgotten?”
Jun Jue shook her head.
“I love you, Weiwei,” Jun Jue seized the moment to confess.
“So… you like physical contact with me too?” Ruan Wei asked uncertainly.
“Yes,” Jun Jue replied, her eyes brimming with tenderness as she gazed at Ruan Wei’s earnest expression.
Her understanding of love came solely from her parents, who had passed away early. Her father had been the previous general, while her mother had fought alongside him as a member of his personal guard. Whenever they went out on missions, she was left behind at home, cared for by the butler, Uncle Zhang, and a few nannies.
However, whenever they returned victorious, her parents would use their rest time to be with her. Knowing she loved mechas and dreamed of becoming a powerful warrior who could defend the Federation, her father had begun training her from the moment she could remember.
While other girls played with Barbie dolls and learned musical instruments or dance, she studied mecha knowledge. Her mother had even personally developed a small mecha for her, the first-generation Silver Fox.
During the day, her parents trained her like a soldier. At night, she would sleep clutching the Silver Fox mecha necklace. Back then, she had been quite clingy, insisting on sleeping with her parents.
She still vividly remembered one night when she woke up groggily, facing the wall, and smelled the room filled with the scent of pinewood and sweet lychee. Her mother had scolded her father for being insatiable and inconsiderate of the setting, worried it might have a bad influence on her.
Looking back now, that experience had indeed left some kind of mark on her.
After her parents passed away, her only wish was to safeguard the Federation in their stead. Love and companionship had almost never crossed her mind. She had always believed she would grow old alone until Ruan Wei appeared and shattered that belief.
Though she bore the title of “God of War of the Federation,” she was, at her core, just a person.
A person who, despite choosing to lock away her heart, couldn’t help but draw close to the one she loved, an ordinary woman with desires.
“Weiwei.”
“Hmm?” Ruan Wei tilted her head up. The robe she had been wearing slipped off as she tugged at it, but Jun Jue stopped her.
Ruan Wei’s sweet voice followed, “General, you’ve been so good to me, and I don’t know how to repay you. Since you love me, I’ll give myself to you. You can do whatever you want.”
A surge of sweetness welled up in Jun Jue’s heart, but she restrained herself and helped Ruan Wei back into the robe.
“General, didn’t you want me to help you?” Ruan Wei was confused by her contradictory actions.
Jun Jue tied the sash for her. “Weiwei, I do want to, but you wouldn’t be able to handle it.”
Their first time had already been long enough, and with a major battle looming, indulging in such matters now wouldn’t be appropriate.
“General, go ahead. I don’t mind,” Ruan Wei lay back. Her experience that morning had been multifaceted and complex, hard to describe with a single adjective.
But she definitely hadn’t disliked it.
She had even grown somewhat fond of that unfamiliar sensation, though both she and the general had been inexperienced, likely a little clumsy.
Now, she found herself looking forward to it.
Jun Jue had originally planned to let it go if Ruan Wei wasn’t willing. But seeing her eagerness, she decided to satisfy Ruan Wei in a gentler way.
Ruan Wei found it somewhat unbelievable as she watched Jun Jue lean down, wanting to refuse, but Jun Jue wouldn’t allow her to evade.
…
“General…” Ruan Wei lay on the bed, panting, as Jun Jue held her hand and sat beside her, then lifted her up to carry her to the bathroom.
Neither of them used the bathtub in the Star Lord’s house, opting only for the shower.
“I can manage on my own,” Ruan Wei said, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. She was inwardly frustrated, wasn’t she supposed to be helping Jun Jue? How had it turned into Jun Jue helping her instead?
Jun Jue made sure Ruan Wei could stand steadily before turning to leave with relief.
“General.”
“Hmm?” Jun Jue turned back, looking at Ruan Wei, who had her hands covering herself, and gave a slight smile.
“General, come here for a second.”
Jun Jue didn’t understand what Ruan Wei intended but still obediently walked over.
“Weiwei?”
Ruan Wei suddenly stood on her tiptoes to kiss her, one hand guiding Jun Jue’s downward. Jun Jue kissed her gently in return but withdrew her hand.
Ruan Wei opened her eyes in confusion. She had thought this was the kind of “help” Jun Jue had meant earlier.
“Silly Weiwei,” Jun Jue sighed, lightly biting Ruan Wei’s lower lip.
Feeling disheartened, Ruan Wei nestled against her chest, sulking.
Jun Jue held her close and said, “Weiwei, I want your medals.”
Hearing that Jun Jue needed her, Ruan Wei immediately clung to Jun Jue’s shoulders, leaving numerous “medals” on that fair skin.
“They’re all for you, General,” Ruan Wei said, blinking her dark, luminous eyes.
Jun Jue turned to look at her reflection in the mirror, her neck was covered in strawberry “medals”, then glanced back at Ruan Wei.
Ruan Wei smiled with pure innocence. “General, is this enough?”
“Yes, it’s enough,” Jun Jue replied, giving her a look that was both helpless and adoring before unable to resist kissing her lips again.
“Let’s shower, Weiwei,” Jun Jue said, releasing her. She feared that if she stayed any longer, she wouldn’t be able to hold back.
…
After stepping out of the bathroom, Jun Jue adjusted her collar, trying to use the raised fabric to cover some of the “medals” Ruan Wei had left behind.
But they remained glaringly obvious. She gave up the struggle, reasoning that no one would deliberately stare at her neck.
Knock, knock.
A sound at the door. Jun Jue opened it to see Jiang Tang, who clearly had urgent news to share, words already on the tip of her tongue.
That was indeed the case, but Jiang Tang’s gaze landed on Jun Jue’s neck, and her train of thought took a sharp turn.
“General, are you allergic? Your neck is completely red.”
Jun Jue: “…”
Why was Jiang Tang’s focus always so peculiar? She cleared her throat, ignoring the question, and asked instead, “You came to see me, do you have important news to report?”
“Yes, General. I almost forgot because of- but are you sure your neck is okay? Should we call Madam Weiwei to heal it first?”
“No need. Get to the point.”
“Right, General! Good news, after my eldest sister posted that video exposing the Chief Executive’s schemes on Star Network, the Federation citizens have started doubting him. Many are speaking up in your support online. The Information Bureau and the Neural Network City were the first to respond, our connections have been restored! We can access Star Network again to monitor the latest developments. Though, this was all within your expectations, wasn’t it?”
“General, you’re amazing!”
Jun Jue ignored Jiang Tang’s praise and restarted the neural interface on her wrist. Sure enough, all functions had been restored.
But just for a moment, she sensed something amiss and immediately shut down her neural computer.
“General, what are you doing? Isn’t the Information Bureau Director a friend of your father’s? And the Neural Network City seems to admire you greatly, they even used your and Madam Weiwei’s visit for publicity before,” Jiang Tang asked, puzzled.
Jun Jue’s expression turned grave. “Jiang Tang, quickly switch your neural computer to wireless mode and turn off the location tracking. Now.”
Though confused, Jiang Tang swiftly complied. Only after completing these steps did Jun Jue explain, “Even those elders who were once close to my father can’t be fully trusted now. It’s clear whose side they’re on.”
Jiang Tang’s bewilderment deepened, her face clearly spelling out her lack of understanding.
“The Information Bureau Director and the forces behind Neural Network City initially sided with the Chief Executive. Whether under pressure from his authority or for other reasons, they cut off our network access. Even if it’s restored now, we can’t be sure they haven’t struck a deal with the Chief Executive. Reopening our interstellar network permissions might just be a ploy to spy on our current activities.”
Jiang Tang paled upon hearing this. “If that’s true, the Chief Executive’s schemes run deep.”
She raised her hand, double-checking that her neural computer was indeed shut down.
“If the Chief Executive regains access to our information, it’ll be all too easy for him to manipulate things again. This time, we must guard this line carefully,” Jun Jue instructed.
“Yes, General.”
…
The “People’s Love” was about to depart from the starport to launch an attack against Jun Jue, who had “illegally occupied Planet GR03.”
Ten minutes before the ship’s takeoff, two videos suddenly surfaced on the interstellar network.
The first video showed Acting General Zhuo Hanjun suddenly going berserk and attempting to attack the Chief Executive, while advocating for Jun Jue’s ascension. Unlike the official footage, this version included a blue light, traced back to the Chief Executive’s own hand striking Zhuo Hanjun.
The video showed no signs of tampering, and the uploader claimed the blue light had been digitally restored, as it was invisible to the naked eye under normal circumstances.
Instantly, the federal citizens who had gathered to send off the Chief Executive on his military campaign began to harbor doubts.
The second video depicted an entirely unfamiliar planet. Under the sunset of this small world, a few humans appeared even more insignificant. The citizens of the Federation widened their eyes, recognizing their goddess of war, General Jun Jue, leading her subordinates in sowing seeds across GR03.
The video employed a nonlinear narrative. It began with Jun Jue and her team planting seeds, unidentifiable at first then cut to scenes of them knocking on the doors of GR03’s residents. Each person who answered wore a look of despair. Upon inquiry, Jun Jue learned they feared their newfound gains were merely illusions, never truly theirs.
“They’ve been oppressed for too long,” speculated one viewer among the federal citizens. “Even after General Jun Jue distributed gold taken from the Star Lord, they still felt hopeless. That’s why the General used this method to prove that change had begun and things were improving.”
Many echoed the sentiment. “General Jun Jue brought hope to GR03.”
The scene shifted once more, revealing vast fields of blue spider lilies blooming where Jun Jue and her team had sown the seeds at the beginning.
“So beautiful!”
“The land on Planet GR03 is simply incredible, unimaginably fertile, a true treasure!”
“Someone just said they still thought it was all hype, like I was deliberately speaking up for General Jun Jue. But seeing this, I really want to cry.”
In the video, more and more residents of GR03 emerged from their sealed homes, laboring for the life they dreamed of.
“This scene is so heartwarming!”
“The Federation has developed so rapidly in recent years that places like this no longer exist. General Jun Jue’s mission to bring GR03 into the Federation has accomplished yet another monumental task for us.”
At the end of the video, a woman in combat gear asked, “General, was it worth it?”
Jun Jue straightened up, brushing the dust off her shoulders. “A soldier of the Federation serves only the Federation.”
As she spoke, a glistening bead of sweat rolled down her jaw and fell onto the rich brown soil of GR03. Every Federation citizen who watched the video felt their hearts tremble.
“General Jun Jue, YYDS!” someone shouted, and soon, the cry was echoed by both the crowd at the starport and viewers online.
“General Jun Jue, YYDS!”
“You can always trust General Jun Jue!”
How could they have been so foolish, repeatedly doubting a general who had dedicated herself entirely to the Federation? At this moment, Federation citizens began to truly reflect with deep remorse.
The time for departure arrived. Chief Executive Lin Aimin stood atop the warship, unsure how to proceed with his plans.
A gentle smile remained on his face, though only he knew how close he was to grinding his teeth to dust.
