The General's Love Glitch - Chapter 35
Ruan Wei took one last look at the meteor shower outside the window. Even with her eyes closed, she could still feel the flickering light of the meteors dancing across her face.
She made three wishes with utmost sincerity. When she opened her eyes, the meteor shower hadn’t ended yet, so she quickly shut them again, eager to make a few more wishes. Such a spectacular meteor shower couldn’t go to waste.
Jiang Lan, Jiang Tang, and Jiang Li mimicked Ruan Wei’s actions, closing their eyes, clasping their hands, and bowing their heads slightly as they earnestly made their wishes.
The grand meteor shower conjured by the General was too good an opportunity to pass up, they had to seize it for some romantic luck.
The three of them didn’t have many wishes, so they finished quickly.
Ruan Wei was still making hers when she suddenly spoke up, “Sister Jiang Lan, let me know when the meteor shower stops, okay?”
“Of course, Madam,” Jiang Lan replied, continuing to gaze at the meteor shower outside.
It was truly breathtaking.
None of the three sisters were particularly romantic, but this time, even they were utterly slain by the General’s grand gesture.
They couldn’t help but inwardly marvel, No wonder the General has a wife, with romance like this.
As the meteor shower neared its end, Jun Jue closed the tail compartment and stepped into the inner cabin. Ruan Wei was still making wishes, while Jiang Lan and Jiang Li were watching the sky outside. Jiang Tang, who was facing the cabin’s glass panel, spotted her first. Jun Jue raised a finger to her lips in a silent gesture, and Jiang Tang immediately clapped a hand over her mouth.
Jiang Lan, who was more expressive, noticed the movement and turned, followed by Jiang Li. All three sisters looked at her with admiration in their eyes though Jun Jue didn’t realize their gazes were the kind that practically begged her to become their love guru.
Among the three, the eldest, Jiang Lan, was the most astute at reading the situation. She quietly and swiftly ushered her sisters out of the cabin.
Jun Jue sat down beside Ruan Wei. The slight dip in the seat beside her made Ruan Wei aware of someone’s presence, but she didn’t realize it was Jun Jue, that spot had been occupied by Jiang Tang earlier. Still keeping her eyes closed, she asked, “Sister Jiang Tang, is the meteor shower almost over?”
Jun Jue glanced out the window just as the last meteor streaked across the night sky. Gazing at Ruan Wei, she said softly, “Weiwei, you can open your eyes now.”
Recognizing Jun Jue’s voice, Ruan Wei excitedly opened her eyes and immediately threw her arms around her, hugging her neck tightly and resting her head on her shoulder.
“General, you’re finally back!”
“General, the meteor shower just now was so beautiful, I made so many wishes!” Ruan Wei couldn’t wait to share.
Jun Jue returned the embrace. “Weiwei, are you happy?”
“So happy!”
“General, aren’t you curious about what I wished for?” Ruan Wei asked playfully.
“I am, but wishes won’t come true if you say them out loud.”
“Oh, right! Then I won’t tell you.” Ruan Wei pulled back slightly and covered her mouth with her right hand.
Jun Jue nodded, her eyes brimming with endless tenderness and amusement.
Suddenly, Ruan Wei lowered her hand. “General, I was afraid you’d forget to make a wish, so I made a few for you too.” She quickly covered her mouth again. “That doesn’t count as revealing them, right?”
Jun Jue gently pulled her hand away and leaned in to kiss her. The moment their lips met, the Junchen spacecraft passed through a magnetic fluctuation zone, causing the sub-cabin to tremble slightly. This wasn’t the first time Ruan Wei had experienced this sensation, she’d felt it before when escaping from Planet GR03. The familiar weightlessness made her nervous.
Jun Jue pressed her against the edge of the bed, continuing to kiss her tenderly. She hovered over Ruan Wei, who felt her heart flutter wildly. Her lashes trembled as she opened her dazed eyes, watching the hazy sway of the cabin lights behind Jun Jue, as if the entire world had turned upside down.
She felt weightless, as if falling through the cosmos, yet a strong arm remained firmly wrapped around her waist, Jun Jue’s, instilling a deep sense of security in her heart.
Jiang Lan went to the control room of the Junchen’s auxiliary cabin to check the magnetic field conditions, while Jiang Tang and Jiang Li came together to seek instructions from the general. Before they could speak, they saw the general and her wife locked in an intimate embrace. Exchanging a glance, they retreated. Upon returning, Jiang Tang reported to their eldest sister, Jiang Lan, “Let’s handle it ourselves. The general and her wife are kissing.”
No sooner had she spoken than the Junchen’s auxiliary cabin passed through the magnetic field zone, resuming smooth and stable flight.
Jiang Lan remarked, “The general must have everything under control. Otherwise, she would have come to command personally by now.”
…
Jun Jue and Ruan Wei didn’t break their kiss until they were nearly breathless. Weak and panting, Ruan Wei clung to Jun Jue’s shoulders as the general stood and carried her to a room.
The Jun Chen was a military vessel, with standard four-person cabins featuring bunk beds. The general’s private quarters were in the main cabin, while the auxiliary cabins only had shared rooms. Jun Jue pushed open the door to one such cabin, closed it behind them, and gently placed Ruan Wei on the lower bunk.
Kneeling beside the bed, she said softly, “Weiwei, we’ll arrive when you wake from a nap.”
Ruan Wei nodded and reached to remove her combat suit, but Jun Jue stopped her hand. “You can’t take it off during space travel.”
“Then I won’t,” Ruan Wei replied obediently, closing her eyes.
Jun Jue released her hand and moved to the lower bunk of the adjacent bed.
Meanwhile, the Jiang sisters were still discussing the lack of double beds in the auxiliary cabin. By the time they finished strategizing and went to find the general, both she and her wife had already disappeared.
“The general really is a natural at romance, she doesn’t even need our help brainstorming,” Jiang Li said enviously.
Jiang Lan sighed. “Let’s get some sleep too.”
…
During the voyage, the Junchen encountered turbulence several more times. Frightened, Ruan Wei quietly slipped out of her bed and climbed into Jun Jue’s.
Jun Jue, still awake, pulled her close.
“General, I’m scared.”
Jun Jue tightened her arm around Ruan Wei’s waist. “Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
“Mmm.” Nestled in her embrace, Ruan Wei felt a little safer.
“General, where are we going?” she asked after a while, struck by the strangely familiar secrecy and winding path of their journey.
Jun Jue nuzzled against her neck and answered, “Planet GR03.”
“Planet GR03?” Ruan Wei gasped in surprise.
“Yes.”
Located in a remote region, Planet GR03 had long evaded Federation control. It was time to reclaim it.
“General,” Ruan Wei murmured, pressing closer.
Jun Jue hummed in response.
Ruan Wei hesitated, unsure whether asking Jun Jue to rescue the other vampires still imprisoned there would be pushing her luck.
Jun Jue gently stroked the back of her head and asked first, “Weiwei, are there other vampires on Planet GR03 who were trapped like you?”
“Yes!” Ruan Wei exclaimed eagerly. “General, can you save them?”
Jun Jue didn’t answer immediately, so Ruan Wei added, “They’re good vampires, just like me. They’ve never hurt anyone.”
“Don’t worry. Just give me some time, Weiwei.”
“You’re willing to save them!” Ruan Wei said joyfully.
During the meteor shower earlier, one of the many wishes she had made was for the rescue of those imprisoned vampire brothers and sisters.
The meteor shower had been Jun Jue’s gift to her and now, Jun Jue was willing to fulfill this wish too.
“General, how can you be so good?” Ruan Wei murmured, snuggling deeper into her arms.
“Can doing the right thing also earn praise?”
“Of course! Doing the right thing and upholding justice are always worthy of praise,” Ruan Wei said earnestly. “You’re the best general in the entire universe. If I could award medals, I’d give you so, so many.”
Jun Jue smiled. “Medals come in different forms, Weiwei. I want your medal.”
Ruan Wei turned in Jun Jue’s arms to face her. “General, what do you want? I’ll give you anything I can.”
Jun Jue looked down at her with a faint smile. “Think for yourself.”
Ruan Wei lowered her head and pondered. First, she recalled the preferences of the general as told by the AI assistant Xiao Ke, mostly superficial things. Compared to likes, the general had far more dislikes: no sweets, no mess, no physical contact.
Huh? No physical contact? But weren’t they in physical contact right now?
She looked up and met Jun Jue’s deep, tranquil eyes, like still pools of water. Instantly, her heartbeat quickened.
Seeing the faint blush rise on Ruan Wei’s cheeks, Jun Jue couldn’t resist gently pinching them. “Weiwei, have you figured it out?”
Ruan Wei nodded emphatically and wriggled slightly higher in Jun Jue’s embrace.
Jun Jue felt the cool touch of Ruan Wei’s lips against her neck, followed by a suction that tested her willpower to its limits.
…
The next morning, Jun Jue stared at the red mark on her neck in the mirror, lost in thought.
During breakfast, the Jiang sisters, Lan, Li, and Tang, also noticed the vivid mark. Jiang Tang couldn’t resist asking, “General, what’s that on your neck?”
“It’s a ‘strawberry’, also a medal of love,” Ruan Wei answered with a smile.
“A medal of love? How do you get one?” Jiang Tang thought it looked rather nice and wanted one for herself.
“Well, it’s like-” Ruan Wei began instinctively, but Jun Jue raised a hand to cover her mouth.
Jiang Tang was about to press further when Jiang Lan and Jiang Li, standing on either side of her, each pinched her arm. Jiang Tang nearly cried from the pain.
