The Frenzied Savior - Chapter 26
“This is a homicide! Of course we had to call the police!”
The tall student growled, his expression turning peculiar. “But no matter how much the police investigate, everything shows these people suffered from sudden bouts of depression. They allegedly lost self-control and sought out pain, only to accidentally die because they didn’t know when to stop…”
“There is no way those findings are right! Like I said, those people didn’t even have depression. How could they suddenly spiral and accidentally kill themselves?”
The boy with black-rimmed glasses clearly sensed something was off and couldn’t help but protest.
“It really is unlikely, which is why the police haven’t closed the cases as suicides yet. They’re still scouring over a dozen crime scenes for evidence, desperately trying to find a key lead.”
“Because the case is so bizarre and the source of danger remains unknown, Number Twelve Middle School has suspended all classes. The administration stated that no one except the police can remain on campus, even faculty and staff had to leave immediately, not a single step allowed inside.”
“I heard from the street vendors near Number Twelve that many teachers left in such a panic they even forgot their phones. Now that the school is on lockdown, they can’t get back in, and honestly, they’re too scared to even try…”
The boy with glasses turned pale. “They just randomly get depressed and kill themselves? If I were there, I wouldn’t dare go back either. If those suicides were staged, who knows if they’d be the next target?”
“Speaking of which, do you think our school will give us a break too? After all, Number Twelve is right next door. If something spills over, it might affect us,” he speculated fearfully.
The tall student choked up. “Don’t scare me, I don’t want to be ‘suicided’…”
“This kind of inexplicable stuff is the scariest. You die without anyone knowing what you really wanted, or rather, what you were really trying to escape from…”
“Stop, stop, the more you talk about this stuff, the more…”
Just as the boy with glasses tried to cut him off, a piercing scream erupted from outside the classroom.
“Aaah! Come quick! Everyone, come quick! Xiaowen is committing suicide!”
The sharp, thin wail sent a jolt through everyone. They looked up instinctively to see their class monitor, who lived in the dorms, stumbling toward them from the direction of the dormitory building.
“Old Fu! Where is Old Fu! Ah! Hurry to the dorms!”
“Xiaowen is killing herself in the bathroom!”
This girl, usually so confident and composed, was now a mask of terror. She ran from the dorms toward the familiar path purely on instinct.
Throughout the dash, her expression remained frantic, and she didn’t react to anyone she passed. It was only when she saw her own classroom and the familiar faces through the window that she finally broke down.
Clatter—
The boy with glasses, who had just been gossiping about Number Twelve, accidentally slipped from his stool. His head slammed right into the leg of Fu Qingya’s chair, jolting Fu Qingya awake.
Fu Qingya opened his eyes and looked down at the boy on the floor.
“I, I didn’t mean to…”
The boy scrambled up, apologized frantically to Fu Qingya, and exchanged a dazed look with the tall student. Then, his face twisted as he raised a hand and slapped himself hard.
“That’s for talking about bad omens!”
“That’s for making wild guesses!”
“That’s for being a jinx!”
Under Fu Qingya’s ‘are-you-an-idiot’ gaze, he slapped himself several more times. “Now look what happened, something actually went wrong…” He looked like he was about to burst into tears.
There were still over ten minutes before class started. Their homeroom teacher, Old Fu, wouldn’t arrive for at least another three minutes.
“I’ll go get Old Fu.”
Having finished slapping himself, the boy with glasses reacted faster than his stunned classmates. With a miserable face, he bolted from the classroom like a gust of wind, heading straight for the faculty dorms.
Meanwhile, the tall student, looking equally distraught, quickly supported the pale, trembling class monitor.
“Never mind me! Just hurry to our dorm building! Xiaowen is committing suicide in our bathroom! The blood is already flowing out into the room…”
Her legs gave way, and she leaned heavily against the tall boy. Her face was struck with horror, her lips as white as paper.
“She, she locked the door…”
“I can’t get it open…”
Her lips trembled, her panic making it almost impossible to speak.
“Go, you guys have to go…”
She suddenly began to sob, pushing the tall boy away. He stood there, momentarily stunned by her words.
Fu Qingya, now fully awake and having grasped the situation, stood up and walked over to the petite class monitor.
A scent resembling rotting pomegranates wafted from her. Fu Qingya, who had intended to ask for the location, underwent a sudden change in expression.
This smell…
This was the scent of a specific psychiatric drug unique to the A48 star system!
Why would this scent be on the class monitor?
Fu Qingya’s mind was flooded with questions, but he had no time to dwell on them. He looked at the frantic girl. “Which building, floor, and room?”
His calm, cold voice pierced through the chaos, clearing her clouded mind. The class monitor grabbed onto his words like a lifeline and quickly blurted out the details.
“We’re in Zhiyuan Building, sixth floor, Room 604. Please, save her.”
Fu Qingya looked down.
The rest of the class held their breath, waiting for his response.
Fu Qingya didn’t waste a single word. Once the address was clear, he turned and sprinted toward the dormitory.
His decisive, immediate action spurred the others. They looked at each other and, as if finally waking up, followed him in a rush.
Only the tall student and the breathless class monitor remained behind.
The tall student stayed purely out of guilt for his “jinx” comments, feeling a strange, nagging sense that he was somehow responsible for this. Stricken with a conscience that made him want to act like a devoted servant, he began carefully comforting and tending to the terrified girl.
Meanwhile, Fu Qingya reached the girls’ dormitory. After a quick word with the dorm matron, he led the group straight toward Room 604 on the sixth floor of Zhiyuan Building.
Crash—
A massive boom suddenly echoed through the building.
