The Frenzied Savior - Chapter 23
The new biological locking system was a rough transplant of the Hidden Mine’s holographic interface. Using a novel algorithm derived from deciphering a millionth of the mine’s operational code, it was a piece of next-generation tech forged from discarded, yet reusable, Hidden Mine materials.
This system possessed a tracking capability similar to the mine itself. With only a close-range scan of a target’s facial features and physique, it could acquire their biological DNA.
Once the operator stored a target’s DNA in the database, the system would trigger a piercing alarm whenever that individual came within a few meters of a holographic sensor, simultaneously alerting the nearest police station or officer on duty.
This didn’t just drastically improve the success rate of capturing fugitives, it could also be used to find missing children or lost relatives. Most impressively, the entire operation was governed by a holographic AI, meaning all subsequent monitoring was handled intelligently, with the system holding the authority to contact various departments through internal lines at any time.
During its trial phase, this newly developed biological locking system had already helped local police arrest several fugitives and reunite multiple missing children with their families. It could even see through elaborate disguises, identifying criminals who had undergone meticulous plastic surgery to alter their facial features and bone structure.
This system, capable of identifying DNA at a glance and calculating the most efficient path for arrest or rescue, was unexpectedly practical and efficient. After multiple successful trials and formal approval, the holographic biological locking system began to appear quietly throughout the country.
Since the Hidden Mine was, in a sense, Fu Qingya’s property, he was specially invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the launch of the system, officially named “Chasing Light.”
Driven by curiosity about a system born from the Hidden Mine, Fu Qingya actually crawled out of his activity room. He took a quick shower, changed his clothes, and headed to the banquet.
Because the details of the system were classified, the event was a discreet, small-scale affair. Most of the guests were participating scientists or officials with impeccable backgrounds whose work involved this specific field.
Fu Qingya had no interest in social events. After being ushered through the ribbon-cutting ceremony, he went to personally witness the activation of “Chasing Light.”
It was a miniature technological marvel, one that combined A48 galaxy technology with a completely different sense of beauty and rhythm. Although it was born from the Hidden Mine’s basic biological locking functions and crude holographic algorithms, it possessed its own unique creativity and soul.
These were the things the humans of the Star Calendar era had discarded in their struggle for survival. Now, like spring flowers blooming in the dead of winter, they appeared miraculously before Fu Qingya’s eyes.
Fu Qingya stared at the palm-sized system, a spark igniting in his eyes as if a candle were being lit by a crowd of people. That faint, gentle, yet inextinguishable flame released light and heat into the darkness. Looking at the smooth lines and the culturally distinct exterior of the system, Fu Qingya suddenly understood something.
He spoke briefly with the host and quietly slipped away before anyone could insist he stay.
Fu Qingya returned to No. 2 High School to complete his transfer-back formalities. He packed up his things from the activity room and handed several small packages to his male teacher. Each box had a sticky note attached, featuring sharp, elegant handwriting with their names and words of thanks.
After asking the teacher to deliver the gifts, Fu Qingya hurriedly left the school. The principal, who was in the neighboring city, didn’t have time to stop him and didn’t have the nerve to block his paperwork. He could only regretfully ask the teacher to see Fu Qingya off.
On the first day a transfer student returns, they are usually allowed to go home and rest once the paperwork is done. Fu Qingya had some new ideas regarding technological products that he was eager to test, so he left the school immediately with a signed leave slip.
He returned to the villa carrying the equipment from the activity room, but the moment he stepped inside, he sensed the presence of others.
Fu Qingya’s brow furrowed deeply. He lightened his footsteps and followed the traces with a cold expression.
Two figures, both familiar and yet strangers, sat on the sofas in the living room, facing each other with icy expressions. They sat far apart, looking like two shores separated by an unbridgeable chasm.
“Qingya is back. Whatever choice is made should be up to him.”
A woman with long black hair and a red cheongsam looked up at him. She was a sharp, vivid beauty whose features, particularly her nose, bore a striking resemblance to Fu Qingya’s. Or rather, it was Fu Qingya who resembled her.
Sitting on the furthest sofa opposite her was a refined, handsome middle-aged man. Despite his age, he maintained an excellent physique and looked much younger than his years.
His face was full of impatience as he looked at Fu Qingya. “Fu Qingya, she and I are getting a divorce. Who do you plan to go with?”
The woman also watched him. “We have found our own versions of love and have no intention of maintaining this fake, meaningless marriage. Who do you want to live with?”
“Regardless of who you choose, you will receive 50% of the assets from both of us. This was stipulated in our prenuptial agreement.”
Back then, both had been free spirits who enjoyed the world. After being forced into a family alliance by their elders, they had used what little conscience they had to draft a unique prenuptial agreement. It stated that all pre-marital property belonged to the individual and the spouse had no right to inherit or access it.
The rules were: you can play around, but you can’t bring anyone home, the elders can’t find out, and there can be no illegitimate children outside of their one shared child.
Once the marriage was dissolved, 50% of each parent’s assets had to go to their child to ensure that the child, who grew up without parental affection, would be financially secure for the rest of his life.
Interestingly, because Fu Qingya was so outstanding, both parents wanted custody of him to help inherit the family estate and expand their businesses. Their goals aligned, but seeing each other had quickly sparked an argument.
Even while arguing over Fu Qingya, they didn’t forget to maintain their polished images, terrified of being outshone by the other. Fu Qingya’s arrival prompted the scene of them forcing him to choose.
Fu Qingya looked at the middle-aged couple with a sense of detachment. A moment later, his face turned cold.
“Whether you want to divorce is your business. Don’t involve me in it.”
