The Frenzied Savior - Chapter 17
This was a face Fu Qingya knew all too well. The owner of this face had not only shown him immense kindness by recognizing his potential, but had also been a companion and protector to him.
He had rescued Fu Qingya from the chaos of the wandering crowds, where he had been struggling to survive. He discovered Fu Qingya’s talent for scientific research and shielded him for nearly twenty years from the A48 galaxy, which viewed Fu Qingya as a formidable enemy and a major obstacle. In the end, he even sacrificed his own body to Fu Qingya’s research efforts while on his deathbed.
That man had always possessed an incredibly powerful presence, acting like a shot of adrenaline for everyone who had lost all hope.
Fu Qingya knew clearly that compared to himself, someone who only knew how to bury his head in research and hard work, this man, who remained elegant and heroic even in the midst of the apocalypse, was the true beacon for everyone. He was their recognized leader.
However, such a man became gravely ill from sheer exhaustion when Fu Qingya was forty. At that time, Earth was engulfed in the flames of war, and medical conditions had plummeted. Despite the desperate efforts of countless people to save him, they could not prevent his passing.
In the 26th year of the Star Calendar, the Head of State of Country A passed away. The world went into mourning, and many were nearly broken by the loss. At that time, even Fu Qingya felt a pain so sharp he almost forgot how to breathe.
It was after that day that Fu Qingya began to walk the path alone, bearing the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Perhaps it was a sense of homesickness, or perhaps he simply didn’t want to cause the man more worry and exhaustion, but after being reborn, Fu Qingya took the entire burden of dealing with the A48 galaxy upon himself. He hadn’t made any deliberate effort to seek out news of the man.
Until today, when he saw the elegant Head of State of Country A once again.
The man had not yet officially met him in this life, yet as if guided by fate, he still offered Fu Qingya a friendly and appreciative look upon their formal introduction.
Fu Qingya gazed at the elegant leader. It felt as though a tempest was surging in his eyes, only to be instantly suppressed, leaving behind nothing but a vast, bottomless ocean of calm.
“Chief Huo, it is a great honor to meet you. I am Fu Qingya. You may call me Qingya.”
I am so happy to see you again, to see you vibrant, healthy, and full of life.
Fu Qingya’s gaze swept over the man’s face. Though middle-aged, he remained handsome and refined, carrying the sophisticated charm of a mature elder. He was exceptionally pleased to see that the man still had thick black hair and a healthy physique.
Huo Zhimin nodded with a smile, though a flicker of confusion crossed his features. Why did it feel like this young student’s attitude toward him was a bit… unusual? The way the boy looked at him reminded him of the younger generation in his own family, purely trusting and filled with earnest concern.
Perhaps he has seen me in news reports and has projected some kind of special sentiment onto me? Huo Zhimin speculated, his gaze toward Fu Qingya softening even further.
Judging by Student Fu’s performance just now, he was clearly a young man who had received a patriotic education—a fine, upstanding citizen through and through!
Director Luo and Luo Mingyuan also looked at Fu Qingya with surprise.
Since they first met him, Fu Qingya had appeared extremely despondent and cold. Even after narrowly escaping death, his expression had remained detached and indifferent.
He rejected everyone’s approach equally, almost uncontrollably wary of anyone who came near him.
This was the first time they had seen him take the initiative to greet someone, and his expression had even softened slightly.
The young man with the sharp, cold features lowered his head slightly, his focused and serious gaze making him look unexpectedly well-behaved.
“First of all, I apologize for interrupting you, Qingya. But I would like to take a few minutes of your time. We asked you here because we have a small collaboration we’d like to discuss with you.”
The elegant leader smiled and pushed a document forward before looking at Director Luo, who was sitting beside him.
Director Luo nodded and opened his own file. “We intend to offer you 300 million RMB and an iron mine in exchange for the dismantled parts of the Lurker Mine.”
“Furthermore, after extensive deliberation, Country A has upgraded Mr. Fu’s identity information to S-Class security. You are now under strict national protection.”
“Unless access is granted by eight national chiefs simultaneously, no one will be able to retrieve Mr. Fu’s personal information.”
“Considering that a certain ‘special entity’ has taken note of Mr. Fu due to the Lurker Mine incident, we fear they may target you. From now on, any application submitted by Mr. Fu will be sent directly to the Head of State’s desk, granting you the highest level of assistance and cooperation.”
“In exchange, we hope that Mr. Fu will contact us immediately if you encounter any other ‘special entities’ like the No. 28 Combat Robot or the Lurker Mine.”
“Additionally, after you have dealt with any such futuristic technological products, we ask that you leave the discarded components for the state to dissect and study.”
Fu Qingya flipped through the document provided by Director Luo. As he read each clause, even he felt a sense of surprise.
This was a contract heavily weighted in his favor. Fu Qingya only had to provide scrap materials he didn’t need in exchange for massive research funding, an iron mine to strengthen his external defenses, top-tier information security, and the sincere support of the nation.
While the mechanical parts he discarded were useless for developing weapons to counter the A48 galaxy, they were, in a sense, truly unique materials and technological methods that had never been discovered before.
Unlike the future, which prioritized only raw power, Country A before the Star Calendar was flourishing in all areas of technology. Its scientists were dedicated to studying any technology that could serve humanity.
Leaving those items to scientists who weren’t constrained by war or the threat of immediate death might actually lead to unexpected breakthroughs.
Even if they gained nothing, it wouldn’t matter much. Those things were items Fu Qingya didn’t want anyway; giving them to the state cost him nothing.
On the contrary, the terms offered by Country A were clearly beneficial to him.
Fu Qingya had no reason to refuse. He looked at the sincere and humble leader, thought for a few seconds, and then agreed. “Fine. You can have them.”
“The small stones gathered inside are a special kind of fusion energy. They explode on impact, but if they are wrapped in aluminum, the reaction will be snuffed out. When you study them, make sure to use aluminum tools to extract them.”
It was rare for Fu Qingya to offer such detailed advice. Everyone was momentarily stunned, then realized this was his way of confirming the partnership.
Director Luo curled his lips in a satisfied smile, and Luo Mingyuan handed Fu Qingya a pen. Once the signature was dry, Luo Mingyuan pulled another document from his stack.
“I have a personal transaction I’d like to make with you.”
Director Luo took the document and handed it to Fu Qingya. “To ensure your safety, I would like Mr. Fu to allow us to provide a police escort whenever you transport unknown objects back to your villa, and to permit a Special Police unit to be stationed around the perimeter of your property.”
