- Chapter 3 - Entering the Demon Domain, Swearing
Xiaoyu was confused. Wasn’t that just a human language? Why did he have to ask her what it was saying?
Only belatedly did she realize that the demonic beast was speaking the demon language. Because she could understand it, it sounded like human language to her.
Eww, she actually inherited the original body’s skill: understanding the demon language.
The enormous golden cage was finally fully revealed. The white figure inside was extremely conspicuous among the crowd of dark-clothed people.
Duanmu Ying cried out in surprise the moment she saw it: “Senior Brother!”
But she was blocked by the colossal size of the demonic beast and could not get closer.
Xiaoyu also looked toward the cage, seeing at least twenty people trapped inside, all sickly lying down. In addition, there were severed limbs, making it obvious what the people in the cage had endured.
The water below the cage was creeping up, about to submerge the collapsed buildings. Unidentified demonic beasts swam in the water.
If she weren’t there, feeling the danger firsthand, Xiaoyu would think the scene looked like a movie.
It was… very shocking.
After seeing the person they were looking for, Duanmu Ying immediately urged: “Master, Senior Brother is there. Let’s go save him quickly.”
Wenyu, however, did not move. He only raised his eyes to look at the demonic beast, whose size was almost level with his own.
“I recognize you, Human Sword Venerable. If you leave now, I will not pursue you for destroying my Demon Domain.” The demonic beast opened its mouth, and Xiaoyu immediately heard it threatening Wenyu: “If you try to cause trouble here, I’m afraid you don’t have the strength!”
As soon as the demonic beast finished speaking, Xiaoyu actively translated: “He says to let you go, and that you don’t have the strength to defeat him.”
Simplified, that was the meaning.
All three saw the terrible scene inside the cage. Unlike Xiaoyu’s shock, Duanmu Ying was overwhelmed with hatred at the sight of the bodies eaten by the demons, leaving only mutilated remains.
Duanmu Ying preemptively declared war on the beast: “Stop the nonsense. If you don’t release my Senior Brother and those people, the one looking for death will be you.”
The beast ignored Duanmu Ying and stared at Xiaoyu: “You, a demonic beast, colluded with humans and betrayed us. When I report this to Lord Chunhu, you can wait for your death.”
The demonic beast couldn’t understand the human language spoken by Xiaoyu and Wenyu, only assuming Xiaoyu had defected.
Xiaoyu’s face changed slightly upon hearing this. She quickly thought and came up with an idea.
Since she had found the cage directly, she would tell Wenyu about the demonic beasts capturing humans. According to the original book, Wenyu would destroy this place, so no one would know her whereabouts. As for this Lord Chunhu, she would worry about that later when she met him.
“He is threatening you, saying he will eat the people in the cage if you don’t leave.” Xiaoyu didn’t forget to exaggerate: “And the demonic beasts here often capture and eat humans. They are very cruel.”
Just as Xiaoyu was speaking excitedly, she suddenly saw Wenyu cast a cold gaze at her.
She immediately shut up.
Anyway, that’s what the book said. Now Wenyu had also seen the captured humans. It was up to Wenyu to decide whether to believe her or not.
“What? Are they trying to eat Senior Brother too!” Duanmu Ying grew anxious. She controlled her sword to fly toward the cage, but Wenyu stopped her again.
Duanmu Ying was so anxious she wanted to push Wenyu aside and go herself.
Wenyu’s expression was calm, his gaze fixed on the demonic beast. But he spoke to Xiaoyu: “Ask it how many people it has harmed.”
Xiaoyu pointed to herself: “Me, I ask?”
Seeing Wenyu’s slightly cool glance, Xiaoyu nodded rapidly: “I’ll go ask.”
This was worse than going back to being a “beast of burden”—at least she could survive there.
But how was she supposed to ask? She could understand the demon language, but understanding and speaking were two different things.
Xiaoyu was so nervous her heart pounded. She tried to speak the demon language from her throat.
Perhaps due to the body’s instinct, Xiaoyu spoke it out fluently, accurately conveying the question she needed to ask.
To her surprise, the demonic beast suddenly erupted in fury. Its gigantic pincers slammed into the water, sending up splashes that hit Xiaoyu, making her feel cold.
“It is only right for us to eat humans! Does a mere Human Sword Venerable think he can interfere? None of you should think of leaving today. You, along with this traitor, will become my meal!”
With the beast’s roar, Xiaoyu quickly spoke: “He says you shouldn’t be nosy, and he says he’s going to eat all of you.”
Coupled with the beast’s movements, Xiaoyu’s statement sounded highly credible.
Wenyu’s face darkened. Simultaneously, the demonic beast erupted with demonic power, whipping the water surface into towering waves.
An invisible wall blocked the demonic power. Wenyu remained completely still, unharmed.
The reason Xiaoyu dared to reveal the crimes of this Demon Domain was that she knew Wenyu’s power in the original book was immense. He destroyed this Demon Domain effortlessly.
Even if this demonic beast was strong, it would still be slain.
So, when the demonic beast tried to attack Wenyu again, Wenyu’s sword abruptly thrust out, splitting into countless afterimages. Spiritual energy filled it, shining brighter than the candlelight in the demon domain.
Xiaoyu only felt a strong flash of light pass before her eyes. Then, an overwhelming surge of power rushed skyward. When she looked again, the demonic beast had fallen into the water that submerged the entire Demon Domain. Even the demonic beasts in the water were dead, their blood dyeing the river.
The entire Demon Domain was destroyed by Wenyu.
Seeing this, Duanmu Ying didn’t even say thank you. She immediately flew off on her sword to rescue the people.
Xiaoyu was stunned into silence for a long time.
If she hadn’t transmigrated into this fox who had contact with Wenyu, but rather any inconspicuous demon in this domain, would she be dead by now?
She wanted to run away, right now.
Forget seduction, forget allegiance. Whoever wanted to do it could go ahead.
The original body was a demonic beast, wasn’t it? It could even transform into human form, so its cultivation must not be low. She had to find a way to get out of Wenyu’s sight.
Just as Xiaoyu thought this, the opportunity arrived.
Her body suddenly felt lighter. The thing restraining her body vanished, and she instantly plunged downward.
The only thought Xiaoyu had as she fell into the water was to get as far away as possible from these demonic beasts, villains, and cultivators.
Wenyu was indeed ruthless, using her and then discarding her. Damn it!
The water filled with blood and corpses splashed onto Xiaoyu’s body. Her mind went blank for a moment, and then she struggled forcefully.
When she broke the surface, her whole body was soaked, even the fox ears on her head were dripping wet.
Wiping her face, Xiaoyu opened her eyes, struggling to find a place to stand.
The light was very dim in the dark night, but the gilded architectural wreckage proved useful, emitting a cold glow that allowed her to see a little.
Xiaoyu endured the disgust and found a place she could climb onto to rest. Just as she swam over and climbed up, a sudden strong cold wind swept over, making her shiver. The next second, she was suddenly lifted into the air.
Xiaoyu let out a silent scream, horrified to find two dark claws gripping her shoulders. After circling in the air, a hoarse, genderless voice rang out: “Stinky fox, you really have the ability. You actually managed to get close to Wenyu.”
Xiaoyu forced herself to calm down, her mind racing.
The thing holding her recognized the original body and was working with the original body. She had to be careful not to reveal that she had replaced the original body.
But why was the original body being monitored while ‘seducing’ Wenyu? How was she supposed to run away now?!
The original body was only described briefly in the book, with a single sentence stating that it was killed by a very high-status person.
“Lord Chunhu ordered me to help you kill Wenyu. Now is the best time. We kill Wenyu, and it will be a great achievement when we return.”
Xiaoyu immediately gasped, her open mouth sucking in a lungful of cold air.
“No, Wenyu is too powerful. We can’t go!”
Xiaoyu still remembered the sight of Wenyu killing all those demonic beasts in an instant. Going to kill Wenyu now was suicide.
If you want to go, go yourself. I’m not going.
But Xiaoyu didn’t dare to say it out loud. The claws gripping her shoulders tightened, and a sharp pain immediately shot through her shoulders.
“Do you dare to disobey the Lord’s command?”
Xiaoyu tried to maintain her composure, seeking a way to survive: “I’m not disobeying. I’ve already gained Wenyu’s trust. As long as I interact with him more and lure him in, it will be much easier to kill him later.”
She would pretend to continue luring Wenyu to make this creature drop its guard.
“You don’t want the mission to fail and get killed when you go back, do you?” Xiaoyu was gambling, betting that the thing holding her was also afraid of death.
No matter what, staying with Wenyu was safer than returning to the villain.
Sure enough, her gamble paid off.
“You have a point.”
Before Xiaoyu could be happy, she heard the voice continue: “I can help you.”
Before Xiaoyu realized what kind of help this creature was offering, the thing holding her suddenly accelerated, flying toward Wenyu’s group and rapidly descending.
In the distance, she could see Wenyu had already rescued the people and created a flat surface in the water.
Xiaoyu watched, heart pounding, as they got closer and closer to Wenyu’s location.
What kind of help is this thing offering?!
“Go—”
Before they reached Wenyu’s location, the claws on her shoulder loosened. Xiaoyu couldn’t help but gasp in surprise.
What kind of colleague is this, sent to collect a debt? If you can’t help, don’t mess things up!
Falling into the putrid water again, Xiaoyu skillfully held her breath. Enduring the pain in her shoulders, she exerted her hands and finally floated to the surface.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Duanmu Ying attacking a black bird-like creature with her sword.
Xiaoyu secretly clenched her fist, cheering for Duanmu Ying in her heart.
It’s best if she kills that bird. That way, I’ll be safer.
The bird merely maneuvered around Duanmu Ying, turned its wings, and flew away.
Xiaoyu disappointedly slapped the water surface. Her shoulder spasmed, making her hiss in pain.
“Master, it’s that fox demon again!”
Duanmu Ying’s voice pierced the night sky, and a surge of sword energy swiftly slashed toward Xiaoyu.
Xiaoyu instantly closed her eyes, feeling a gust of cold wind brush across her face.
Then, Duanmu Ying’s voice rang out again: “Master, why aren’t you letting me kill that demon again? Haven’t we already rescued Senior Brother?”
“Go attend to Nancheng Hui.”
Duanmu Ying glared at Xiaoyu and turned to look after the severely injured and unconscious person.
Xiaoyu secretly opened her eyes and immediately met Wenyu’s gaze looking down at her. Her heart jumped, and she instinctively flashed a friendly smile.
The girl was completely soaked. The fox ears on her head were dripping water. The shimmering water illuminated her delicate face, making her look like a lotus emerging from the water—all flirtatiousness washed away, leaving only purity.
She changed her mind. It was safer to stay by Wenyu’s side.
Seeing Wenyu say nothing, Xiaoyu quickly seized the opportunity: “Daoist Priest! That bird just threatened me! It said if I didn’t kill you, they would kill me. I don’t want to die!”
Wenyu stared at the girl in the water and opened his mouth: “Yes, and then?”
Even though this Demon Domain was destroyed, there was no hint of hatred on her face. She seemed completely unconcerned about the fate of her own kind.
Xiaoyu was stunned for a moment, then racked her brain to continue defending herself: “Daoist Priest, think about it. If I get killed, they will definitely send people to attack you again. Instead of constantly being afraid of being ambushed, it’s better for me to stay by your side. With me here, they probably won’t send anyone else.”
“Of course, my heart is devoted to you, Daoist Priest. I will absolutely never betray you!” Xiaoyu raised three fingers as she spoke: “I swear!”
Having been in the water for a long time, Xiaoyu was cold, and she shivered.
She endured Wenyu’s scrutinizing gaze for a long time, feeling as if a knife hung over her head, ready to fall at any moment.
Just as Xiaoyu could no longer bear the cold and was about to lower her raised hand, she finally heard Wenyu’s affirmative voice.
“Then follow me and show me your sincerity.” Wenyu raised his eyes, his gaze deep and serious: “I can consider not pursuing the matter of you deceiving me.”
Xiaoyu’s eyes instantly brightened: “Really?”
