The Five Heartless Scumbag Alphas Turned Against Each Other Because Of Me - Chapter 95
Ning Xi and Wen Chuan were instantly silenced by the tone of Cheng Yuan’s voice. They stood there like two guilty schoolchildren, both with hands clasped in front of them, heads slightly bowed—clearly too ashamed to look her in the eyes.
It was obvious they were both planning to stubbornly stay quiet. Cheng Yuan’s smile grew colder and colder, until her lips finally parted to speak.
Startled, Ning Xi flinched and quickly broke the silence.
“I’ll talk! I’ll say it!”
Wen Chuan turned to look at her in surprise, while Cheng Yuan shifted her gaze back to Ning Xi, clearly more interested now. Her mood noticeably lifted as she gave a faint nod, signaling for her to begin.
Suddenly, Ning Xi seemed to snap out of her panic.
I didn’t do anything wrong. If I didn’t do anything wrong, I shouldn’t be afraid.
All she did was—morally questionable, maybe—but not illegal.
All she did was pay Tan Hua to help her avoid marrying Guo Lanyi. Other than that, there was nothing improper between them.
So Ning Xi straightened her back.
“On the day of Old Master Tang’s birthday banquet, I approached Tan Hua under the excuse of gathering information for you—trying to figure out if she was a homewrecker or not… But instead, I found out she was pregnant before marriage.”
“Not only that—she secretly went to another medical facility and had IVF done.”
“So the baby she’s carrying isn’t from some Alpha who marked her. She must have bribed someone at the clinic to implant another Alpha’s child into her womb.”
Wen Chuan: “?!”
Even though this explanation was easier to accept than Tan Hua already belonging to another Alpha, Wen Chuan still felt a dull ache in her chest.
So she really wants to have someone else’s baby that badly?
But even more importantly… whose baby is it?
Was it Lu Huaixu’s?
Zheng Jinyu’s?
Sheng Yiheng’s?
Or someone else entirely?
Wen Chuan’s thoughts were spinning.
After Ning Xi finished speaking, Cheng Yuan didn’t say anything at first. She was completely silent for so long that Ning Xi started to panic again. Finally, Cheng Yuan spoke:
“She had IVF… through a clinic?”
“Yes,” Ning Xi nodded firmly.
“I saw it with my own eyes—she pulled out at least a dozen signed service contracts from her own home, all from medical institutions. There’s no way that kind of evidence could be faked.”
But Cheng Yuan remained skeptical.
No matter whether it was a large-scale or small reproductive clinic, none of them would dare offer IVF services to an Omega without proper authorization. It was illegal.
Most Alphas deposited their genetic material at certified clinics as a backup in case of emergencies—to preserve their lineage. But those facilities had extremely strict rules. Even if an Omega wanted access to that genetic material, the process was long, demanding, and fully transparent.
In every case, the Alpha would be notified.
They’d know exactly who used their genes and for what purpose.
But from what Cheng Yuan could tell, both Tan Hua and the Alpha whose DNA was used were completely in the dark. Which meant—there was no way this was done through official channels.
Whatever Tan Hua did, it wasn’t legal. Or, at the very least, it wasn’t by the book.
But then again… if Ning Xi really saw her sign a dozen service contracts with the institution—who would be so bold as to steal someone’s genes and still sign paperwork for it? That’d be insane.
Everything was starting to get murky.
Cheng Yuan could feel her brain overheating from how messy this was becoming.
Ning Xi nervously glanced at Cheng Yuan’s face, trying to figure out if she’d calmed down… or if she was just holding back her anger. She shifted her feet, then subtly nudged Wen Chuan with her elbow, silently urging her:
Come on, your turn. Say something.
But Wen Chuan remained silent—and avoided her gaze.
Confess what?
The full story of her “crimes”?
Wen Chuan knew one thing for sure—if she dared to tell Cheng Yuan every detail of what had happened, Cheng Yuan would never speak to her again.
And she didn’t want that.
So instead, she glanced at her watch, then smoothly changed the subject.
“Ning Ning-jie, Yuan Yuan-jie… I need to head back. I’ve got evening self-study.”
Ning Xi: “?!”
What a sneaky, slippery little brat.
She instinctively glanced at Cheng Yuan’s expression.
Cheng Yuan had already come out of her silence. She looked at Wen Chuan calmly, didn’t say much, just nodded slightly and replied,
“Alright, go ahead.”
She even smiled faintly and added,
“Thanks for taking the time to come pick me up.”
Wen Chuan pressed her lips together and shook her head.
“It’s been a while since I saw you. I really missed you. Besides, coming to get you was the least I could do,” she said.
“It’s just that I haven’t started my break yet, and I’ve got extra tutoring every day…”
“School is important,” Cheng Yuan said gently.
“Once you finish your exams, you can come visit me anytime.”
Then, with a subtle, almost meaningful tone, she added,
“I won’t be going anywhere for the time being.”
Wen Chuan’s heart skipped a beat. She avoided Cheng Yuan’s eyes and lowered her gaze.
“Then… I’ll get going now. Bye, Ning Ning-jie. Bye, Yuan Yuan-jie.”
Without hesitating, she turned and left. She flagged down a cab at the curb and headed off in the direction of her school.
Ning Xi stood frozen, staring as Wen Chuan vanished from sight. She turned to Cheng Yuan, completely dumbfounded.
Wait, that’s it? You’re just letting her leave? Didn’t you say you had more to ask her?
“What is it?” Cheng Yuan asked, raising an eyebrow—probably sensing how hard Ning Xi was staring.
“N-Nothing,” Ning Xi said quickly, shaking her head.
“It’s just… I’m shocked. She used to hate school. I remember she was always late, and sometimes didn’t even bother showing up at all. Now she’s suddenly so diligent.”
Cheng Yuan let out a soft laugh.
“When someone’s truly in love, of course they’ll want to work harder—to make themselves shine a little more.”
“Otherwise, how could they compete with all the other people chasing after their crush?”
She looked directly at Ning Xi, her gaze calm but sharp.
“Don’t you think so?”
Ning Xi didn’t dare respond.
She had a sinking feeling those words were meant for her.
So, after a moment of awkward silence, she made the smart choice—and changed the subject.
“By the way, about Guo Lanyi—” she began.
Sure enough, that got Cheng Yuan’s attention. Remembering what Ning Xi had mentioned earlier, she frowned slightly.
“You were going to be paired with Guo Lanyi?”
Ning Xi: “?!”
“No way!” she exclaimed, shuddering at the thought.
“That was all my relatives’ idea. They wanted to use me to gain some benefit. I’d never agree to it. She’s my mom’s romantic rival! There’s no way I’d marry her!”
“Besides, she’s only a few years younger than my mom,” Ning Xi huffed.
“If I ever married her, my mom would probably drop dead from anger.”
Cheng Yuan nodded thoughtfully.
“Auntie Ning would never agree to something so ridiculous.”
“As for your relatives… especially your aunt.” She paused, then continued,
“If I remember correctly, doesn’t her family have business ties with mine?”
She looked straight at Ning Xi and said calmly, “I’ll have a word with my parents.”
As soon as Cheng Yuan finished speaking, Ning Xi lit up with joy and threw herself toward her, affectionately clinging to her arm.
“I knew it! You’re still the best, Yuan Yuan!”
Cheng Yuan chuckled and raised her hand to gently pat Ning Xi’s shoulder.
“Come on, let’s head back and get some rest.”
After a long day of traveling—and all the chaos that came with it—she was already exhausted. Right now, all she wanted was to forget the mess and get a good night’s sleep in her own bed.
“Yes, yes!” Ning Xi nodded so eagerly she looked like a pecking bird.
“I’ll tell my mom I’m staying at your place tonight.”
Cheng Yuan didn’t say no. It had indeed been a while since they last saw each other, and with the welcome banquet her parents planned to host soon, she could use Ning Xi’s help.
Uncle Ning’s car pulled up again. The two Omegas got in, and this time, there were no surprises. They arrived at their destination safe and sound.
Meanwhile, Wen Chuan sat alone in a taxi, her expression unreadable.
On one hand, she was still mad about Tan Hua. On the other, she was deeply unsettled by Cheng Yuan’s sudden return.
Did Cheng Yuan already find out about me falling for Tan Hua?
That shouldn’t be possible. She hadn’t shown any obvious signs. Besides, Cheng Yuan had only just come back.
Unless… someone close to her had spilled the beans?
Maybe one of the many “friends” she’d drunk with lately? It wasn’t like she could remember all of them—there were at least a few dozen.
Even if I pulled my hair out trying, how would I figure out who betrayed me?
Wen Chuan rubbed her temples, frustrated.
At this point, the best thing she could do was stay out of Cheng Yuan’s sight—lay low, give her space. If she kept her distance long enough, maybe Cheng Yuan would forget, or at least stop caring.
As for Tan Hua…
She had no choice but to be patient.
As heartless as Tan Hua could be, there was one thing she’d said that was absolutely right:
Right now, at Wen Chuan’s age, studying should be her top priority.
After all the drinking and moping she’d done lately, Wen Chuan had finally been dragged back to school by the female lead of her own life story—her mother. And once she got back into the rhythm of learning, she was surprised by how fulfilling it felt.
Studying was like a cure.
It helped ease the pain in her heart and distracted her from how cold and distant Tan Hua had become lately.
Wen Chuan clenched her fists.
I’ll get into a top university.
Once she got her acceptance letter, Tan Hua wouldn’t be able to brush her off anymore. She’d have no excuse.
And most importantly—Tan Hua was pregnant now. Which meant… even if Lu Huaixu or Zheng Jinyu wanted to make a move, they wouldn’t be able to.
That thought brought Wen Chuan a strange sense of comfort.
She started counting on her fingers.
By the time the college entrance exams were over, and the results were out—and she’d filled in her university preferences—Tan Hua would likely have had the baby and finished her postpartum recovery.
By then, Wen Chuan would have fulfilled her part of the deal.
She’d be ready to officially confess her feelings—and join the race for Tan Hua’s heart.
She lowered her eyes, feeling a strange mixture of determination and melancholy.
Back when they first met, Tan Hua had been struggling just to survive—a penniless girl scraping by.
But now, barely a month or two later, her life had completely transformed.
She was glowing now. Bright. Radiant. Out of reach.
Even Wen Chuan, once confident and proud, felt like dust beside her—small and insignificant.
When did everything change so drastically?
Wen Chuan was left quietly wondering.
Back at the hospital, Tan Hua’s test results were the first to come out.
Xu Fengqi, under the silent pressure of three intensely focused Alphas, reviewed the report. After a quick scan, he let out a relieved sigh.
“She’s fine. Nothing serious.”
He set the file down, mentally breathing easier.
That kid’s tougher than she looks, he thought.
Even after a collision that intense, she’s still okay. Just like her mother… strong as a cockroach that won’t die.
Hearing Xu Fengqi’s confirmation, all three Alphas visibly relaxed.
Sheng Yiheng was the first to lose control. She shot to her feet and, visibly anxious, rushed straight toward Tan Hua’s hospital room. Zheng Jinyu hesitated for a moment, then stood and followed after her.
Once the two of them were gone, the office fell silent again—leaving only Lu Huaixu and Xu Fengqi behind.
Lu Huaixu didn’t get up right away. She remained seated on the sofa, composed and calm. But after the others’ figures had fully disappeared down the hall, she finally rose, walked over to the door, and quietly closed it behind her.
Then she turned, voice low but firm.
“About what I asked you to look into… have you found anything yet?”
“A little,” Xu Fengqi said, scratching his cheek.
“There’s a facility that seems to be quietly conducting some sort of secret experiment.”
“I don’t know if Tan Hua is involved, though. The records are all restricted. Only senior internal personnel have access.”
Lu Huaixu’s expression didn’t change. She simply nodded slightly.
“Alright. Keep digging. I’ll try asking Tan Hua myself—see if she knows anything.”
Xu Fengqi hesitated. He wanted to say that from what he’d seen of Tan Hua—carefree, clueless—she probably didn’t know anything. But then again, with Lu Huaixu’s methods, there likely wasn’t anything she couldn’t find out. So he said nothing.
“I’ll keep tracking it,” he promised.
“Using Omegas for unauthorized experiments isn’t a minor issue.”
If this organization was truly conducting inhumane research, it would be a massive scandal once exposed. Xu Fengqi couldn’t help wondering what kind of recognition—or reward—he might receive for bringing it to light.
But before that, there was still one key question: whose Alpha genes did Tan Hua carry?
And just thinking about that gave him a headache.
Back in the hospital, Tan Hua had been brought back to her room. With Mu Wanyi still undergoing tests and soon to enter surgery, the room was quiet—for now. Tan Hua welcomed the peace and was about to ask the system for an update on the female lead when—
Sheng Yiheng burst in and interrupted her.
“Tan Hua! I’m so glad you’re okay!” Sheng said, clearly emotional.
“I’ve decided to give you a few days off. Rest up and come back to work once you’ve fully recovered.”
She sat down beside the bed, eyes filled with concern.
Tan Hua blinked at her.
“But I’m still in charge of Miss Tang’s project…”
As tempting as a break sounded—especially when it came from her boss—her rational side kicked in. No matter how nice a few days off sounded, it wasn’t worth risking her long-term career.
“It’s fine,” Sheng Yiheng waved it off.
“Isn’t Tang Yanrou still stuck at home with a million things going on? She’s too busy to worry about anything else.”
Tan Hua: “???”
Did you forget Tang Yanrou is literally the boss?
Bosses don’t need to micromanage—they just give orders. Even if she was lounging on a beach somewhere, the company would still function perfectly. That’s the power of leadership.
It seemed like Sheng Yiheng realized that too. Her expression stiffened slightly with awkwardness.
But the concern was real. Tan Hua was only three months into her pregnancy, and things weren’t entirely stable yet. How could Sheng allow her to keep pushing herself like this?
It was a liability. And even the Omega Protection Bureau might come knocking if anything went wrong.
She wasn’t the only one who thought so—Zheng Jinyu was just as concerned. But Tan Hua was stubborn. No matter how hard they tried to convince her to rest, she refused.
In the end, they gave up.
If she insists on working, so be it. We’ll just assign a few full-time caretakers to watch over her and make sure she eats and rests properly.
It wasn’t ideal, but it would do.
Just then, Sheng Yiheng’s phone buzzed with a new message. She glanced down, and when she looked back up, her expression had changed.
“…You crashed because you were trying to save Cheng Yuan?”
At the mention of it, Tan Hua lit up with pride. She lifted her chin, waiting for praise.
“Of course! What else did you think happened?”
Sheng Yiheng didn’t answer right away. Her mood was hard to read. Zheng Jinyu, who had just entered, also had a subtle expression that was difficult to interpret.
Tan Hua noticed and hesitated. After a moment, she carefully said,
“Don’t worry. Even with Yuan Yuan around, you’re still one of my top three favorite people in the world.”
Sheng Yiheng: “???”
“Top three?” she repeated, eyes widening with disbelief.
“There are two others? Who are they?!”
Tan Hua (mentally): Actually… three might not even be enough…
Silly-but-straightforward Tan Hua: You were once my lover, now you’re also my rival in love. Isn’t fate funny?
Zheng Jinyu & Sheng Yiheng: Help. This is getting out of hand.
