The Five Heartless Scumbag Alphas Turned Against Each Other Because Of Me - Chapter 88
Sheng Yiheng realized, too late, that she had accidentally sent the message to the wrong person. She hurriedly retracted it and then quickly followed up with a bunch of random texts to cover it up.
“Yuan Yuan, are you home yet?”
“You’ve had a long journey today. Get some good rest at home. Once I wrap up my current work in the next couple of days, I’ll come see you.”
Still feeling that wasn’t enough, Sheng Yiheng’s fingers flew across the screen again.
“I’m not sure if your tastes have changed or if you still like what you used to, but I’ve already pre-ordered all your favorite desserts. They’ll be delivered to your home shortly.”
“Consider it a little apology for my absence.”
Though her words were sincere, there was clearly something she was trying to cover. Cheng Yuan stared at her phone for a moment before smiling and replying:
“Okay, thank you, Yiheng-jiejie.”
Then she added, gently:
“You should take care too, Yiheng-jiejie. Don’t overwork yourself.”
Sheng Yiheng replied with a simple “Okay”, and then left just one more line—”I’ll get back to work now”—before falling silent again.
Cheng Yuan slowly lifted her eyes, staring ahead. After a long moment, she finally turned to Ning Xi and asked—in a tone so forced it seemed dragged out from between clenched teeth:
“Where is Tan Hua right now?”
Ning Xi felt her heart skip a beat. She was hesitating, unsure whether she should tell Cheng Yuan the truth, when suddenly, Wen Chuan spoke up:
“She’s pregnant?”
Wen Chuan clenched her fists in disbelief. She’s pregnant?
Whose child is it?
While she had been fruitlessly searching for Tan Hua, had some Alpha already marked her permanently?
Or had she long since found someone else she clicked with—and that’s how she ended up carrying another person’s child?
Wen Chuan’s mind was in turmoil. Her eyes instinctively fixed on the back of Cheng Yuan’s head, filled with confusion and panic.
She had hoped Cheng Yuan would be jealous, that she would care about her more. But the very next second, she found out the Omega she longed for was already someone’s mother.
Her whole body felt frozen. She couldn’t think. Couldn’t move.
Sensing Wen Chuan’s gaze, Cheng Yuan turned her head and smiled faintly.
“You didn’t know?”
Wen Chuan furrowed her brow. She wanted to admit, “I didn’t know.”
But she swallowed that instinct back down and instead asked:
“Was I supposed to?”
She put on a facade, pretending she wasn’t close to Tan Hua.
Cheng Yuan’s smile deepened.
“Everyone else knows. Even I know. So I just assumed you did too.”
Wen Chuan felt her heart plummet, as if it had dropped straight into an ice pit. Her face turned pale. She was dazed for a moment, then lowered her lashes and murmured:
“I’ve been busy studying lately—at home and at school. I haven’t really kept up with the outside world.”
Was it that she hadn’t paid attention? Or had she been paying attention the whole time, only to receive nothing in return? Cheng Yuan could tell just by looking at her expression.
Still, considering that even Zheng Jinyu and Sheng Yiheng had clearly begun to lean toward Tan Hua, she wasn’t particularly surprised by Wen Chuan’s reaction.
At least the kid had shown up at the airport with a bouquet of white roses.
As for the others…
Cheng Yuan’s gaze darkened. When she spoke again, her tone had shifted—firm, commanding, and impossible to refuse.
“Where is Tan Hua now?”
She lifted her eyelids, her clear eyes fixed intently on Ning Xi with unmistakable pressure.
Ning Xi froze, her face twitching slightly. She stammered, unable to respond.
“Ning Ning,” Cheng Yuan said gently, “even if you don’t tell me now, I have other ways of finding out where she is. You know that.”
Ning Xi didn’t doubt that for a second. So this time, she didn’t hesitate any longer and replied:
“She’s at the Tang family’s estate. Old Mr. Tang’s birthday banquet is still going on, so she hasn’t left yet.”
“…Unless something unexpected happens,” she added, realizing her answer sounded a bit too certain.
Upon hearing that, Cheng Yuan smiled, lips curling slightly.
“Good.”
Then she turned to the driver and said:
“Change of plans. We’re not going to the original destination. Head to the Tang estate instead.”
After receiving Cheng Yuan’s instructions, the driver quickly used the onboard smart system to reroute to the new destination and turned the car toward the Tang family estate.
Ning Xi grew anxious. She wanted to send a message to warn Tan Hua, but under Cheng Yuan’s steady gaze—which kept drifting between her and Wen Chuan—she didn’t dare make any sudden moves.
She pressed her lips tightly together, silently hoping Tan Hua would sense something was off and slip away from the Tang estate before they arrived. But moments later, her thoughts faltered.
Why am I even worrying about Tan Hua?
She’s just a little seductress. The person she should be caring about—protecting—was Cheng Yuan.
And yet, for some inexplicable reason, Ning Xi wanted to ease the tension between Tan Hua and Cheng Yuan. But if she opened her mouth now, wouldn’t it make her seem like a traitor? Like someone betraying their friendship?
After a moment of inner struggle, Ning Xi finally stayed silent, deciding at the very least, not to worsen Cheng Yuan’s opinion of Tan Hua any further.
Cheng Yuan was contrary like that. The more others praised Tan Hua, the more she disliked her. The more she looked at her, the more annoyed she became.
Smoothing things over between them… that can wait for another time.
Still, the fact that Cheng Yuan was now dead set on confronting Tan Hua gave Ning Xi a pounding headache.
Couldn’t they meet a few days later instead? Today, the Tang estate was full of people. If they ended up arguing—or worse, fighting—Ning Xi found herself wondering: Who should I hold back first?
She sighed heavily, unable to stop herself. But when she came to, she saw Cheng Yuan giving her a subtle, half-smiling look.
Startled, she quickly covered her mouth and forced a weak smile.
“It’s just… Guo Lanyi is also there,” she said awkwardly.
“…So I’m kind of nervous.”
Cheng Yuan didn’t press her. Instead, she replied gently and considerately,
“Do you want me to drop you off at home first? I can go see her alone.”
Absolutely not.
Ning Xi gave a small but firm shake of her head.
“I want to stay with you.”
“We hardly get to see each other. I don’t want to part ways so soon. Wherever you go, I’ll go. I’m even planning to sleep over tonight—we’ll stay up talking all night.”
She said it with conviction, full of loyal resolve.
Hearing that, Cheng Yuan said softly, “Alright then,” and didn’t press the matter any further.
After that, neither of them spoke. The car fell into a heavy silence—so quiet it felt suffocating, like the air itself was laced with pins and needles.
Wen Chuan sat quietly, listening to their conversation without a word. She didn’t have the energy or interest to join in.
Her mind was filled with just one thing: Tan Hua is pregnant.
Shocked as she was, what burned even more was a sudden wave of irrational anger—surging up from the pit of her stomach, threatening to swallow her whole.
So this is why she hasn’t contacted me in so long?
Because she’s already found someone new?
Then what about her?
What did she mean to Tan Hua?
Just a plaything to keep around when bored? A little pet she could tease when she felt like it?
Wen Chuan lowered her gaze, trying to hide the raw disappointment and sorrow in her eyes.
She didn’t know how to put her feelings into words. Her chest ached unbearably, like something heavy and sharp was lodged inside it.
I want a drink, Wen Chuan suddenly thought.
I want to go to a bar and drink until I black out.
Only then might I finally forget that heartless, cruel woman.
And if she was pregnant, if she carried someone else’s child, if she eventually married someone else—none of it would matter to her anymore.
None of it would have anything to do with her.
Wen Chuan couldn’t help but recall what Tan Hua had looked like when they first met. Back then, the Omega hadn’t been as glamorous and untouchable as she was now—but even then, her striking features were already impossible to ignore.
At the time, Wen Chuan’s heart was entirely focused on Cheng Yuan, so Tan Hua’s beauty had never stirred anything in her. In fact, she had looked down on Tan Hua’s persistent advances, often giving her cold, dismissive looks and never once showing her the slightest bit of respect.
Wen Chuan remembered how much she used to dislike her. But even so, she had never wanted to end their contractual relationship. Perhaps it was the arrogance innate to Alphas—she believed Omegas existed to orbit around Alphas, to endure their bad moods and moodswings.
And that’s exactly how she had treated Tan Hua.
She hadn’t cherished her. Hadn’t cared for her. She had simply, selfishly, projected all her worst moods and darkest impulses onto Tan Hua—without restraint, without thought.
Aside from money, Wen Chuan had never given Tan Hua anything. Not even a sliver of emotional value.
Because money had always been plentiful for her. Because money could buy her anything.
Even an Omega.
Even if it wasn’t Tan Hua, there would always be others throwing themselves at her. She had arrogantly, foolishly believed Tan Hua was just like the rest—money-hungry, opportunistic, easily bought.
Tan Hua had approached her on her own and had even asked to be Cheng Yuan’s stand-in.
Wasn’t that proof she was after her money?
But reality had turned around and slapped Wen Chuan hard in the face.
Tan Hua was interested in her money. But not just hers. She was also interested in Zheng Jinyu’s money. And Lu Huaixu’s. Even Sheng Yiheng’s.
In front of those three young, successful, and accomplished Alphas, Wen Chuan suddenly felt like a child—clumsy and inexperienced, like someone fresh out of a remote mountain village.
She couldn’t compare. Not in wealth, not in life experience.
And so Tan Hua choosing them over her… made perfect sense.
If she were in Tan Hua’s shoes, she would’ve made the same choice without hesitation.
Thinking this, Wen Chuan gave a small, bitter laugh.
Maybe this was karma.
If only she had treated the Omega with a bit more kindness in the beginning, with a bit more care—would things be different now? Would Tan Hua still be so cold and heartless toward her?
That kind of regret felt like poison, slowly corroding her from the inside out.
Wen Chuan sat, dazed and lifeless. Cheng Yuan casually glanced at her absent expression, and the more she looked, the more eager she felt to finally meet Tan Hua.
What kind of Omega… could charm so many of my closest friends to the point that they forget even me?
As Cheng Yuan thought about Tan Hua—
Tan Hua was thinking about Cheng Yuan too.
After spacing out on the sofa for a while, Tan Hua couldn’t sit still anymore. Her whole body felt itchy—skin, bones, even her heart. Every part of her screamed to escape this room.
“Tongbao,” she called out to the system, “I think I’m about to get depressed.”
The system had already seen through all of Tan Hua’s little tricks. But still, it played along, asking cooperatively,
“So, what exactly do you think would help, Host?”
Tan Hua’s eyes rolled mischievously.
“How about we get some fresh air?”
Only after suggesting that did she lazily reveal her real intention:
“And maybe, just maybe… we swing by to check on the female lead.”
Knew it.
The system immediately tried to stop her.
“Even if you do want to see the female lead, there’s no need to rush to her on the very day she returns. You’ve done so many shady things behind her back—once she finishes digging up the truth, even if you don’t go looking for her, she’ll come looking for you.”
Of course, if the female lead came to her first… it definitely wouldn’t be for a friendly reunion.
Tan Hua: “…”
Her curiosity evaporated in an instant. She flopped straight back down onto the couch, eyes blank.
“Forget it. Let it all burn. I give up.”
The system watched her for a while to make sure she’d abandoned any thoughts of “prison-breaking,” then turned its focus back to tracking the female lead’s whereabouts.
The way Cheng Yuan had publicly announced her return, it was almost guaranteed that certain shady characters lurking in the shadows would make a move. Like the Alpha suitors still clinging on, or the various malicious supporting female characters—the type who, in the original novel, all tried to sabotage the female lead at some point.
But there was one thing the system couldn’t be certain of:
Was the female lead truly safe today?
After all, her streak of misfortunes in the original plot had begun shortly after she returned to the country. She had once been warm, kind, pure to the core—but because a few Alphas fell for her, jealousy and hatred followed. She was bullied, set up, wronged, and nearly lost her life more than once.
The system couldn’t understand it.
Why should she suffer so much… just because a few Alphas liked her?
Even more baffling, the Alphas who caused all the trouble barely faced any consequences—and in the end, they were even forgiven by the female lead. Everyone lived happily ever after in some big saccharine HE (happily ever after).
The system could twist its logic into knots and still not make sense of it.
It stared blankly at its system panel, hesitant.
Cheng Yuan had returned much earlier than in the original timeline… would this trigger unexpected changes in the plot?
Lost in thought, the system didn’t notice Tan Hua creeping off the couch. Out of the corner of its eye, it suddenly caught sight of her sneaking toward her bag, grabbing the car keys, slipping on a hat and mask, and tiptoeing toward the garage.
Clearly about to sneak away while no one was paying attention.
The system’s metaphorical eyelid twitched.
Its voice turned sharp:
“Host—!”
Tan Hua had assumed the system wasn’t paying attention, which was why she’d gone full sneaky-thief mode. But now that she’d been caught red-handed, she stopped pretending altogether. Straightening her back, she gave a bold command:
“Track the female lead’s location.”
“I’m going to find her.”
She said it with total certainty—firm, commanding, leaving no room for argument. The system knew it couldn’t talk her out of it, so it let out a long, resigned sigh.
“The female lead is already on her way… coming to find you, Host.”
Tan Hua: “?”
The system added helpfully,
“Assuming nothing unexpected happens, that is. So really, you just need to stay here and wait for her.”
Tan Hua tilted her head, smiling faintly.
“And if something does happen?”
The system was instantly silenced. After a long pause, it finally gave in with a heavy sigh.
“Fine. I’ve sent the female lead’s current route to your phone. Just open your navigation app.”
Only then did Tan Hua smile with satisfaction. She tugged her hat and mask down more securely, disguising herself more thoroughly before heading out.
The system had no idea whether letting her go after the female lead was a good idea. It just had this weird feeling—restlessness, anxiety.
Would they start fighting the moment they saw each other?
Or worse, would the female lead just beat her senseless?
Tan Hua slipped into the car, started blasting music, and began humming happily to herself. The system watched her with twitching virtual eyelids.
She looks way too excited to get smacked…
Fine. Whatever.
The system silently braced itself:
If worst comes to worst, I’ll just pull the female lead back a bit… maybe my Host can avoid a few punches.
Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Ning Xi’s driver was moving swiftly but steadily. Years of experience made his driving smooth and safe—even as they began pulling away from the airport and deeper into the bustling downtown.
Still, Ning Xi’s anxiety was mounting.
“Uncle Ning, slow down a little,” she said nervously.
“Traffic’s heavy here, and the roads are a mess. Safety comes first.”
The driver nodded and immediately eased off the accelerator.
“Yes, Miss.”
Only then did Ning Xi exhale in relief and turn back to stare out the window. This road was the only way to the Tang estate—there was no avoiding it. Steel barricades had lined both sides of it for half a year now with barely any visible progress.
At this rate, she thought sarcastically, if a crash happened, we’d probably fall straight into one of these pits and never crawl out again…
Lost in thought, she was startled as the car suddenly jolted.
“Uncle Ning?” she asked immediately.
The driver gripped the wheel tightly, his voice tense.
“Miss, there’s a car behind us—looks like it’s lost control.”
At once, Cheng Yuan and Wen Chuan turned to look.
It was a beat-up, scrappy little car—so old it looked ready for the scrapyard. And yet, it was accelerating toward them like a man possessed.
Though they were in a high-end vehicle and everyone had their seatbelts fastened, a direct impact could still cause chaos, especially if other startled drivers lost control.
Cheng Yuan narrowed her eyes, locking onto the flushed, drunken-looking driver behind them. For some reason, she had the strange feeling this wasn’t random. That this person… was coming for her.
But who in the country could possibly hold a grudge against me?
Maybe someone. She just hadn’t thought they’d act so brazenly.
The car behind them got closer and closer, as if determined to stop Cheng Yuan right then and there.
Ning Xi was pale with fear, nails digging so hard into her palms she didn’t even feel the pain. Wen Chuan hesitated for a second, then reached out, protectively covering Cheng Yuan and Ning Xi with her arms—trying to shield them as best she could.
Uncle Ning did his best to shake off the pursuer, but every time he gained distance, the other car surged forward again. Finally, as if out of patience, the driver slammed the gas pedal with a crazed expression, trying to force them into a nearby construction zone.
And then—
The attacker’s car suddenly swerved.
At the same moment, a striking, high-profile Pagani roared into view.
Inside was a young woman—early twenties, stunningly beautiful with fair skin and sharp features. Her long hair was tied up hastily, clearly without much care, either from lack of skill or simply because she was in too much of a rush.
Cheng Yuan stared, momentarily dazed.
Tan Hua, eyes locked on the reckless attacker, narrowed her gaze.
“Who the hell is this? Gutsy enough to go after the female lead in broad daylight?”
The system was panicking.
“Host! You need to do something—”
Before it could finish, it watched in horror as Tan Hua slammed her foot on the gas and went full demolition derby.
BAM. BAM. BAM.
She rammed the attacker’s car once. Then twice. Then a third time.
The two cars smashed into each other like wild beasts until one of them finally gave out—completely totaled, its engine smoking. The other flipped violently, rolling across the ground before landing wheels-up.
Inside the wrecked Pagani, the airbag had deployed.
Tan Hua couldn’t move. Blood was rushing to her head, and her body throbbed with pain.
“System,” she gasped,
“I feel kinda dizzy…”
The system snapped out of its shock.
“Host, you flipped a Pagani—of course you’re dizzy!”
Still, it kept her talking, trying to distract her from the bright red blood leaking from her side.
“The female lead is safe now. That maniac driver has been pulled out by bystanders and is being restrained. I’ve already called emergency services and the police.”
Tan Hua smiled faintly.
“You’re growing up, kiddo.”
But before she could say more, she suddenly felt a scorching gaze on her. She turned her head instinctively—
And saw Cheng Yuan throwing open the car door, storming toward her with a face full of complicated emotions.
Tan Hua lit up.
“She still doesn’t know who I am. But I just saved her life! After this, she’s definitely going to be charmed. Moved. Maybe even… fall for me!”
Her eyes sparkled with wild optimism.
The system, deadpan:
“Host, maybe worry more about how you’re going to explain what you did to Lu Huaixu’s car.”
“That was a limited-edition Pagani.”
Tan Hua’s starry eyes dimmed.
“…” Huh?”
Tan-bao:
One second flying high, the next second fearing for her life.
