The Five Heartless Scumbag Alphas Turned Against Each Other Because Of Me - Chapter 104
Shen Yiheng’s blood pressure shot up as he watched the two Omegas wrapped tightly in each other’s arms.
But after a fleeting surge of jealousy, he quickly regained his composure and rushed over to them. His gaze instinctively dropped to Tan Hua’s exposed knee pressed against the cold, hard floor.
“Are you alright?” he asked urgently.
His voice pulled Cheng Yuan back to reality. She blinked, startled, then hurriedly grabbed the railing at the side of the stairs and pushed herself out of Tan Hua’s arms. A moment later, she turned and crouched slightly, reaching out to help Tan Hua up.
Cheng Yuan wasn’t sure what to say first—“Are you okay?” or “Thank you.”
Words felt meaningless at a moment like this. Nothing could express the gratitude she felt for Tan Hua saving her life—not once, but twice.
“I’m fine,” Tan Hua gritted out between her teeth.
She forced herself to smile despite the pain, her eyes flicking between Shen Yiheng and Cheng Yuan’s worried faces. But her mind had already moved on to the more pressing issue.
“Who pushed you just now?”
Cheng Yuan’s eyes flickered, then slowly dropped.
“I didn’t get a good look.”
Her voice was soft.
“They were wearing a baseball cap and a mask. Everything was covered. They even wore glasses with thick frames to disguise themselves. I could only tell it was probably a man, around six feet tall.”
“That’s all I know,” she added, shaking her head, clearly frustrated by her own helplessness. Her shoulders sagged ever so slightly.
“It’s okay,” Tan Hua reassured her. “There are security cameras. We’ll figure out who did it.”
But Cheng Yuan knew better.
If someone really wanted her dead, they wouldn’t come unprepared. Which meant—even if security footage had caught them—there was a high chance they’d escaped, switched disguises in a blind spot, and vanished without a trace.
That kind of clean getaway meant the trail could go cold within minutes.
Despite the dark thoughts swirling in her mind, Cheng Yuan didn’t want to burden Tan Hua with them. She quickly changed the subject.
“I’ll call a doctor to check on you.”
Tan Hua was still half-kneeling on the floor, either too pained to move or simply unable to. In either case, calling for medical help was the most logical next step. So she didn’t argue.
“I’ll call Dr. Xu,” she said, pulling out her phone.
While Tan Hua made the call, Shen Yiheng’s attention finally drifted back to Cheng Yuan—his former white moonlight. His brow furrowed, his expression clouded with conflicting emotions.
She’s only been back for a few days, he thought. And bad things keep happening one after the other.
He cleared his throat, lowered his voice, and asked,
“Did you… offend someone while you were studying abroad? Some group or organization, maybe?”
Because honestly, her life was starting to feel like something out of an action movie.
Cheng Yuan glanced up at him with an expression that said “you have no idea.” Then, under his skeptical gaze, she replied firmly:
“Absolutely not.”
She had lived her life overseas cleanly—polite, peaceful, never stepping on anyone’s toes. If this were karma, why hadn’t it struck while she was abroad? Why wait until she returned home?
“Then it must be someone you pissed off here,” Shen Yiheng concluded with a nod.
Cheng Yuan fell silent, unable to find a proper reason to refute Shen Yiheng. Or perhaps, with his probing, she’d been drawn into deeper thought.
Hearing the tension between them, Tan Hua glanced twice at Shen Yiheng before cutting in smoothly,
“More importantly…”
Her words immediately drew both of their attention.
“I think this seems more like the work of a jealous admirer—someone who couldn’t have you Alphas and turned on Cheng Yuan instead.”
“It’s no secret she’s your collective dream girl. Back when she was abroad, she was out of reach—too far for anyone here to do anything about her. But now, she’s back. Alone. Vulnerable. If they were going to strike, this is the time.”
“If I were them,” Tan Hua said matter-of-factly, “I’d take her out before she even had a chance to react.”
Silence fell over the group.
Shen Yiheng stared at Tan Hua with a complex expression. She raised an eyebrow.
“What are you looking at me for?”
“You seem awfully clear about how this would go…” he said slowly. “Don’t tell me this whole thing was your doing?”
He shifted his stance, now watching her with a look of mock ease—though his tone carried a sharp edge.
“You hire someone to hurt Yuan Yuan in secret, then swoop in and ‘miraculously’ save her, making her trust and rely on you completely.”
“That way, your name’s clean—and her guard’s down.”
The logic behind it was airtight. Even Cheng Yuan had briefly considered that possibility before. But instinctively, she felt Tan Hua wouldn’t go to such lengths.
“Miss Tan… isn’t that kind of person,” she said gently.
She hadn’t even finished speaking before Shen Yiheng shrugged, clapping his hands as if to say, See? She’s already got you wrapped around her finger. His expression said it all: Now you believe her without hesitation.
Cheng Yuan opened her mouth but couldn’t get any words out, her throat inexplicably tight.
After today’s trauma, she found herself suspicious of every detail, every movement. At this point, she wasn’t sure she could easily trust anyone—Tan Hua, Shen Yiheng, or anyone else.
Still, Tan Hua’s logic held up. The odds of an enemy from the past were slim. This felt far more like the result of present-day jealousy.
She’d experienced this kind of thing before—though back then, it was petty tricks, not life-threatening attempts.
Now… she wasn’t even sure what was real anymore.
Tan Hua, growing impatient with Shen Yiheng’s smug attitude, suddenly pinched him—hard—right at the waist.
He gasped audibly, his face twisting in pain. “Ow!”
The ridiculousness of it almost made Cheng Yuan laugh. But she caught herself—now wasn’t the time.
“If I really wanted Yuan Yuan’s trust,” Tan Hua said flatly, “you think I’d need to jump through all these hoops?”
She curled her lips in disdain. Shen Yiheng had a gut feeling about what she might say next, and instinctively reached over, trying to cover her mouth.
Luckily, Tan Hua held back—probably out of respect for Cheng Yuan’s fragile state—and didn’t launch into one of her more colorful speeches. Instead, she said,
“And anyway, are you guys really worth me sneaking around over?”
Tan Hua had always lived by the motto: If one leaves, the next will be sweeter. She’d never get hung up on just one person. Shen Yiheng knew that all too well—his heart sank a little.
Cheng Yuan glanced between them, and for the first time, her internal scale began to tip.
“I believe you.”
Shen Yiheng’s pointed questioning, and Tan Hua’s no-nonsense answers, had given her clarity.
She looked at Tan Hua and said softly,
“I’m very grateful for what you’ve done—for saving me twice. One day, I’ll bring my parents to thank you properly.”
“No, no, really, that’s not necessary,” Tan Hua quickly declined. And to the system, she added privately:
No need for all that. Just wire me the money—it says more than a thousand words ever could, right?
System: “…”
Still the same pragmatic host, I see.
“I’ve been pretty busy with work lately,” Tan Hua added out loud, making up a random excuse to avoid a formal visit.
Cheng Yuan looked disappointed and tried to insist, but before she could, Xu Fengqi picked up the phone—cutting her off.
He listened to Tan Hua explain the situation, then blurted out in disbelief,
“What?! It’s been what—an hour, at most—and now your knee’s injured?!”
His tone grew increasingly exasperated.
“Seriously, were you born under a cursed star or something?”
“No,” Tan Hua denied swiftly and with righteous conviction. “If anything, I’m the reincarnation of a lucky star—here to redeem others, not curse them.”
Xu Fengqi: “…”
System: “…”
Fine. As long as the host’s happy.
Xu Fengqi had been nearby, so after ending the call, it didn’t take him long to arrive. Standing above her, the Beta let out a long, exasperated sigh.
“How am I supposed to explain this to Lu Huaixu?”
Tan Hua blinked at him. “Just don’t tell her. Problem solved.”
How do you not get something so simple?
Xu Fengqi was momentarily stunned. Then he gave her a thumbs-up with an exaggerated look of admiration.
“Wow. That’s some next-level logic right there.”
“But… too late. I already told her,” he added, deadpan.
“So maybe you should start thinking about how you’re going to explain this.”
Tan Hua: “?”
Explain what? What was there to explain?
This was clearly just an accident.
Given that people were starting to glance over at the trio gathered in the hallway, Xu Fengqi suggested,
“Let’s move her back to the room first.”
Shen Yiheng immediately bent down, ready to scoop Tan Hua up, but she quickly stopped him.
“I can walk. Go stay with Yuan Yuan for now.”
Thinking about how Cheng Yuan still had at least one more dangerous event ahead of her today, Tan Hua couldn’t help but glance at her with a touch of pity.
Poor thing. She really is a magnet for disaster.
Shen Yiheng looked like he wanted to object, but under Tan Hua’s firm gaze, he eventually gave in. And truthfully, he did want to find out who was targeting Cheng Yuan.
This time, he vowed, he would be there to catch the culprit—not let them slip away like before.
With that settled, Shen Yiheng went off with Cheng Yuan to find her parents, while Xu Fengqi helped escort Tan Hua back to her room for treatment.
Cheng Yuan lingered for a moment, quietly watching Tan Hua. Then she turned and left with Shen Yiheng. Tan Hua noticed the look but didn’t read too much into it.
Once back in the room, Tan Hua sat down, rubbed her sore, red knee, and flexed it a little. It already felt a lot better.
“I’m fine,” she declared.
Xu Fengqi gave her a sideways glance and then said seriously,
“Can you please stop doing this kind of stuff for a while? You’re still pregnant. Sure, you can take a hit or two—you’re tough. But the baby isn’t.”
“Just because you’re past the danger period doesn’t mean you can run around like this every day.”
His tone was harsh—probably the most stern he’d ever been with her. Tan Hua slowly lifted her eyelids and replied calmly,
“Are you suggesting that a fully conscious, living human should be considered less important than a fetus that isn’t even fully developed yet?”
Xu Fengqi froze, lips parting as if to speak—only to fall silent under Tan Hua’s steady, sharp gaze.
Her tone was calm, but the undercurrent was unmistakable.
“Dr. Xu, I think you’re overstepping.”
She offered him a half-smile—charming, threatening, and cool all at once.
“There are plenty of excellent OB-GYNs out there. Which means I have plenty of options too. Don’t you agree?”
Xu Fengqi fell silent, and the tension in the room thickened with her barely veiled defiance.
But before it could escalate further, Lu Huaixu’s arrival shattered the standoff like a clean break of glass.
She instantly picked up on the tension in the air. Her eyes flicked toward Xu Fengqi, who merely said,
“She’s fine,”
then turned and walked out of the room without another word.
Lu Huaixu watched his retreating figure, a curious gleam in her eyes. But now wasn’t the time to press him for answers. She turned back, shut the door behind her, and looked toward Tan Hua.
“You had an argument with him?”
“No, not at all,” Tan Hua said with an exaggerated innocence. “Maybe Dr. Xu is just going through a sensitive phase.”
She blinked at Lu Huaixu, her tone completely guileless.
Lu Huaixu’s eyelid twitched. She stared at Tan Hua with a helpless expression—as if asking do you think I’m blind? But in the end, she chose not to argue and instead shifted the topic.
“What exactly happened just now?”
Tan Hua knew she needed Lu Huaixu to take Cheng Yuan’s situation seriously. So she carefully recounted everything—every detail of the previous events and what had just occurred, word for word, without missing a beat.
Lu Huaixu listened in silence. After a long pause, she finally spoke.
“I understand. I’ll have someone investigate it.”
Tan Hua let out a breath of relief. With both Shen Yiheng and Lu Huaixu involved, it shouldn’t take long to get to the bottom of this. Her mood lifted slightly, and she reached for the bottle of water nearby—only to be interrupted by Lu Huaixu’s voice.
“You seem to know a lot about all this.”
Tan Hua froze, her hand pausing midair.
“You knew exactly when Cheng Yuan would be in danger. You knew what kind of danger. And you just happened to know how to save her.” Lu Huaixu’s tone was quiet, but her gaze sharp. “Didn’t you?”
Tan Hua was a little surprised by how perceptive she was, but not worried. She casually offered a plausible explanation.
“I don’t really know anything. Every time I saved her, it was just coincidence.”
But one coincidence could be written off. Two? Three? Even four?
Lu Huaixu didn’t see herself as some gullible idiot, and yet Tan Hua still chose such a flimsy excuse to brush her off.
Why?
Did she really think Lu Huaixu would never find evidence?
The air around Lu Huaixu seemed to grow colder. Her deep, thoughtful gaze was hard to read. Noticing the shift, Tan Hua subtly braced herself and added quickly,
“Besides, every time I managed to save her, it was only because we happened to be at the same place at the same time.”
“If I’m not around, I don’t know anything that’s going on with her, right?”
“But when you aren’t around…” Lu Huaixu said slowly, “nothing ever happens to her either. Has it?”
Tan Hua immediately sat up straighter. “Excuse me?”
What the hell is that supposed to mean? Are you saying you think I’m the one behind this?!
Her eyes widened in disbelief.
“How would I know?! I’m not God!”
She scowled at Lu Huaixu, suddenly bristling with rage.
“If you’re that suspicious, go ahead and call the cops. Tell them to arrest me! Maybe I’ll get to eat free rice and boiled greens in jail!”
Crossing her arms, she puffed up angrily like a defensive little blowfish.
“I didn’t mean it like that,” Lu Huaixu said, sighing as she pressed her fingers to her temples, clearly getting a headache. “I’m just… confused.”
“Oh, so being confused is enough reason to frame an innocent person now? Is that it?” Tan Hua snapped, her voice rising. “You think that gives you the right to throw accusations at me?!”
She couldn’t hold it in anymore. She stood up abruptly, her tone sharp with disappointment.
“Lu Huaixu, I really didn’t think you were this kind of unreasonable person!”
Lu Huaixu looked momentarily lost for words. The dozens of questions she still had simmering inside were clearly no longer appropriate to bring up.
She inhaled slowly, trying to calm the situation, then softened her voice.
“Please… don’t be mad.”
Lu Huaixu looked visibly at a loss for how to comfort Tan Hua. For someone who’d always been above it all—calm, commanding, untouchable—she now seemed completely humbled, desperately trying to coax an angry Omega.
“I just didn’t want it to affect the baby…” she murmured.
“The baby. It’s always the baby.”
Tan Hua’s tone snapped like a whip. Her temper flared instantly.
“Is that all anyone ever thinks about? Is the baby more important than me?”
“Is it a person, and I’m not? Is Cheng Yuan not a person either? Are our lives worth less than it?!”
Lu Huaixu quickly responded, “That’s not what I meant—”
But before she could finish, Tan Hua slapped both hands over her ears in defiance.
“I’m not listening, I’m not listening—blah blah blah,” she sang mockingly, like a child resisting discipline.
Faced with this blatant resistance, Lu Huaixu could only sigh and walk toward her.
The moment the Alpha approached, every nerve in Tan Hua’s body went on high alert. Instinctively, she tried to dodge—but Lu Huaixu reached out, pulled her close, and wrapped her gently into a warm embrace.
“I apologize for what I said,” she whispered.
“So please, don’t be angry anymore.”
The scent on Lu Huaixu’s body was clean, faintly floral, and undeniably calming. There was a cool elegance about her, but her arms were strong and steady, radiating warmth. Her chin rested lightly atop Tan Hua’s head, and for some reason, that simple gesture made Tan Hua feel completely safe.
Tan Hua blinked, caught off guard.
Wait… This isn’t how things were supposed to go.
She tilted her face upward, lashes brushing gently along the smooth line of Lu Huaixu’s jaw—sparking a ripple of goosebumps down the woman’s spine.
Tan Hua had no idea what game Lu Huaixu was playing. Her mouth opened, then closed. Then opened again. But not a single word made it out.
She was baffled. Thoroughly thrown off.
And just when her confusion peaked, she sensed Lu Huaixu’s gaze lower and settle quietly on her face. She said nothing. Just looked—like she already saw through everything.
For a moment, Tan Hua felt guilty.
But then she reminded herself: if Lu Huaixu hadn’t confronted her with anything directly, then she clearly had no concrete proof. That realization gave Tan Hua all the clarity she needed. She composed herself, straightened her posture, and met Lu Huaixu’s sharp gaze head-on.
“Just this once,” she muttered, as if issuing a warning.
Then she began to squirm, trying to break free from the embrace.
Why are we hugging like this all of a sudden? What’s with all the emotional bonding?
It made her feel like Lu Huaixu was planning something shady—and Tan Hua’s instincts screamed caution.
But just as she started to push harder, Lu Huaixu tightened her hold. Her aura shifted—subtle, but palpable.
Tan Hua felt it immediately. Like a gazelle sensing the moment before a predator pounces, she tensed.
And sure enough—
“Tan Hua,” Lu Huaixu said softly, “I think you’ve got things mixed up.”
Tan Hua blinked. “Huh?”
“You’ve been worrying too much about Cheng Yuan.”
“But the person you should be concerned about—the one you should be trying your hardest to win over—is me.”
Her voice deepened, each word precise, slow, deliberate.
“I’m the one you were supposed to make fall in love with you.”
“Did you forget that?”
Tan Hua (mentally): Hold on, what kind of seduction tactic is this?!
President Lu (mentally): If I must wield a beauty trap in pursuit of the truth… how will you respond?
Tan Hua: There is no defense. I surrender on the spot and spill everything (x)
