The Five Disciples He Took In After Transmigrating Into The Book Were All The Same Person - Chapter 5
Ji Lan recalled that he still had dozens of “Tanqing Birds” in his spirit pouch, which he felt would be sufficient. He tossed them into the air, and all the small paper scraps transformed into fluttering birds. These birds were not particularly useful, as they could not do much once they found their target and were easily rendered useless by water or fire. However, Ji Lan liked using them because they were the only spiritual items he could currently activate.
Mo Chenxiao did not know this, but seeing his Master place such hope in these birds made him think his Master looked quite adorable.
“Chenxiao, who could have designed this Corpse Forest?” After watching the birds fly away, Ji Lan finally had the time to examine the bones scattered across the ground. “The flesh and blood are still fresh. Could this person have anticipated our arrival?”
“I do not know.” Mo Chenxiao’s expression darkened. “I believe this Corpse Forest is related to the Lian Sect. Other sects could not create a formation of such power in such a short time.”
“This formation can even command skeletons to kidnap people,” Xiao Yuwei mused, turning to look at Ji Lan. “I heard that a century ago, a demon monk appeared in the Lian Sect. Could this be related to him?”
A demon monk? How could I possibly know about that! Ji Lan feigned composure. “Regardless, let us find Wan Song first.” If they were a step too late, Wan Song might be flayed alive.
“Master, there seems to be a mechanism down here.” Mo Chenxiao waved his hand, and the bones covering the ground instantly flew to the other side. Ji Lan looked over; indeed, beneath the original location of the bone pile, there was an eerie pattern. It resembled a Bagua diagram, yet it was different, as if pieces were missing everywhere.
The Qingya stairs had been abruptly severed, demonic energy churned below, and a small path led directly here. It was such an obvious trap, yet Ji Lan had walked straight into it, leading to Wan Song being abducted. Ji Lan felt his face burning with embarrassment.
“I seem to have seen this pattern before,” Xiao Yuwei stared at it blankly. “The people who were chasing us had this pattern on their clothing.” It seemed this Corpse Forest was truly related to the Demon Clan. Ji Lan had initially thought these demons wanted to claim White Deer Cliff for themselves; now it appeared their goals reached even further.
“There must be another passage here,” Mo Chenxiao suddenly spoke. “Those bones had no life force; they must have borrowed some power to kidnap Wan Song.”
Ji Lan surveyed the surroundings. The space was quite large, but it appeared sealed. Even knowing the pattern was a mechanism, how could they activate it?
“Blood and things filled with baleful energy,” Xiao Yuwei contemplated the marking. “Perhaps, blood can activate this mechanism.”
Blood? It was a good idea, but whose blood?
[Use the protagonist’s!] Zhen’ai suddenly spoke. [Host, if you do not hurry, your Song Song will be gone!]
Ji Lan’s spirit was jolted. Of course! If blood were required, it had to be the protagonist’s blood. How could the blood of ordinary cannon fodder like them possibly work? Mo Chenxiao noticed that after Xiao Yuwei spoke, both pairs of eyes were fixed on him.
“Chenxiao, this is a place of evil. You are a virgin; your blood will have the best effect.”
Zhen’ai couldn’t help but tsk. [Saying that as if you aren’t one yourself. Shameless!]
Ji Lan: [Shut up!]
“Since it is Master’s wish, this disciple can only obey.”
However, Ji Lan’s words made Mo Chenxiao frown. So, Ji Lan is no longer a virgin? But he and Xiao Yuwei are clearly not married, are they? Mo Chenxiao suddenly felt a wave of discomfort.
Soon, blood saturated the marking. Suddenly, a golden light appeared, shining on a specific point on the wall. A crack appeared, followed by a second and a third, until the entire wall collapsed, revealing a passage.
There was indeed another way!
“Chenxiao, thank you for this,” Ji Lan said, wanting to praise his disciple as usual. To his surprise, when he turned his head, he found Mo Chenxiao’s face was pale. “What is wrong?!”
“It is nothing,” Mo Chenxiao shook his head. “I am just a little dizzy. Thank you for your concern, Master.”
He lost so much blood; even an iron-bodied person couldn’t take it! Moreover, it seemed strands of demonic energy were spreading up from the wound. Ji Lan felt a twinge of guilt. “Come here, let me take a look.”
Mo Chenxiao’s wrist had a long, deep gash, with some blood remaining. Ji Lan felt pain just looking at it.
“Ji Lan, you possess the Extreme Yin Body. Your bodily fluids can draw out the baleful energy from the wound,” Xiao Yuwei hummed. “Your disciple looks like he is about to faint.”
What does Extreme Yin Body mean? Ji Lan was confused—he was a man! Ji Lan struggled with the implications, as the word “bodily fluids” sounded incredibly suggestive! Stop! Ji Lan braked his train of thought. Bodily fluids didn’t necessarily mean that! Ji Lan pondered, picked up Mo Chenxiao’s hand, lowered his head, and licked the wound.
