The Five Disciples He Took In After Transmigrating Into The Book Were All The Same Person - Chapter 4
In the world of cultivation, righteousness and evil are inherently opposed. Beyond the four major sects, there exists the Demonic Path. White Deer Cliff is renowned not only for the Rujiao Sword but also for the various treasures and alchemical pills seekers hope to find. This recent behavior of the Demonic Clan suggests they intend to monopolize the entire cliff.
“Why are there so many corpses here?” Xiao Yuwei’s face turned pale as she looked at the bodies covering the ground. “I escaped from here only a short while ago, but…”
“Yuwei, do not be afraid.” It was Ji Lan’s first time witnessing such a tragic scene. He suppressed the urge to vomit. “These may be the villagers from the foot of the mountain.”
The bodies lacked bloodstains, as if they had been completely drained. How vicious.
“We must inform the elders of the Sword Pavilion,” Xiao Yuwei said, her hands trembling. “Ji Lan, we have to do something about this.”
“It is a blood sacrifice,” Mo Chenxiao said in a low voice. “They cannot break the barrier of White Deer Cliff, so they are using living people as a blood-key.”
“Elder Cong Lian,” Wan Song said, trembling. “That old gentleman looks like the one we saw at the foot of the mountain.”
Ji Lan’s expression changed. Following Wan Song’s gaze, he saw a familiar figure. The man’s hand was still tightly clutching a bottle—the medicinal pills Mo Chenxiao had given him.
“Master,” Mo Chenxiao’s tone was icy. “I will definitely make them pay the price.”
People in this world are like ants, drifting in the vast expanse between heaven and earth. They toil diligently for their livelihood, working from sunrise to sunset, hoping for nothing more than a house full of children and a peaceful end. Yet, even that is too much to ask.
“Collect their remains,” Ji Lan sighed. “We shall see if there are any disciples from the Lian Sect nearby to perform rites for them.”
“Yes, Master.”
The sky seemed about to change.
“Master, do not look.” Mo Chenxiao suddenly reached out to cover Ji Lan’s eyes, whispering in his ear where only the two of them could hear, “And do not cry.”
From the past to the present, Mo Chenxiao had never found anyone truly beautiful. They were all merely withered bones beneath a layer of skin. Yet, seeing Ji Lan shed tears somehow moved him.
Chapter 21
“What are you doing?” Ji Lan was startled by the hand blocking his vision. Crying? Who is crying? Ji Lan blinked, surprised to find his eyes were indeed wet. His fluttering eyelashes brushed against Mo Chenxiao’s palm, making the latter pull his hand away as if he had been scalded. Heat spread from the center of Mo Chenxiao’s palm to his earlobes, turning them bright red. Ji Lan did not notice Mo Chenxiao’s reaction, feeling only a complex sense of melancholy.
This disciple was actually quite kind to his Master. It was just that fate was unpredictable, and sincerity was often misplaced. The original owner had truly been heartless, eventually leading to this situation where they were locked in a battle to the death.
“What are you doing?” Xiao Yuwei looked confused. “Ji Lan, why are your eyes red?”
“There is sand and dust,” Mo Chenxiao replied calmly, shielding Ji Lan. “I was just blocking the wind for my Master.”
Xiao Yuwei did not remember these two ever having such a close master-disciple relationship.
“Let’s handle these bodies first,” Ji Lan said, patting Wan Song’s head, noticing the boy was frightened. “These must be the villagers from the mountain.”
“Absolutely insane!” Xiao Yuwei cursed. “To not even spare ordinary people!”
“If I am not mistaken, there are one hundred corpses here,” Mo Chenxiao stated coolly. “This is a blood array, the Hundred Flower Demon Fiend Blood Array. It requires one hundred young women, but it seems they were in a rush and hastily substituted them with one hundred ordinary people.”
“Brother Mo, you know so much.” Wan Song, held by Ji Lan’s hand, was not as afraid anymore.
“It is all thanks to my Master’s teaching,” Mo Chenxiao replied indifferently. “If you become a disciple in the future, Master will teach you as well.”
“What?” Xiao Yuwei was incredulous. “You are going to take this child as a disciple?”
Ji Lan: I suspect Mo Chenxiao is doing this on purpose. And what is wrong with Song Song? I intend to take him.
“Enough, let us not discuss this,” Ji Lan said sternly. “Let’s see if there are any members of the Lian Sect nearby to pray for these villagers.”
Xiao Yuwei looked at the small Wan Song and could not understand what kind of illness Ji Lan had contracted. The child did not look like he had any talent for cultivation at all. Wan Song lowered his head, dejected. When he first heard that Elder Cong Lian wanted to take him as a disciple, he was panicked, then excited, but now, he felt unworthy. He could not even achieve Qi condensation; what right did he have?
