The First Senior Sister Is Weak and Helpless - Chapter 1
Beixuan Mountain is located at the northernmost tip of the cultivation world. Surrounded by demonic energy all year round and capped with unmelting snow, it is universally recognized by cultivators as the most dangerous place in the entire cultivation world.
Apart from the extreme climate that few cultivators can endure, the volatile spiritual energy and demonic energy can tear ordinary cultivators to shreds. More importantly, this place borders the Demon Realm; demonic energy shoots straight into the sky, and violent demonic beasts coexist with mindless fierce beasts here. Very few people can walk out of Beixuan Mountain safe and sound.
Yet, at this moment, at the foot of this daunting Beixuan Mountain, two cultivators holding an infant were fleeing wildly in the direction of Beixuan Mountain.
It felt as though something even more terrifying than the forbidden ground ahead was chasing after them.
Looking closely, both cultivators were of the human race. The woman possessed a striking, otherworldly beauty that left people awestruck at first glance, while the man had bold, handsome features with starry eyes and a sword-like brow, making for a rare and striking appearance indeed.
However, both of them were currently in a disheveled state, covered in streaks of blood. Wisps of demonic energy continuously leaked from these bloody gashes, making it obvious at a glance that the two had been wounded by demons.
The cultivation world and the Demon Realm share a natural enmity. Demons are belligerent and bloodthirsty, and lower-level demons even survive by sucking human blood. Although high-level demons do not stoop to devouring humans, they are nonetheless fond of battle.
Their world has no morality or conventional social norms; only the strong are respected, and slaughter brings them their most primitive thrill.
“Wife, ahead is Beixuan Mountain. Take the child and go first; I will stay behind to hold them off.” The two severely injured human cultivators ultimately could not outrun the pursuing demons from behind, watching as those fiends closed in.
Furthermore, one of them was a high-level demon. Even if this couple joined forces, they would likely only manage a draw, let alone now when both were heavily injured and could probably not even withstand a siege by low-level lesser demons.
“Husband!” The woman wanted to say more, but when she raised her eyes, she saw the rapidly approaching demons.
If they hesitated any longer, both of them together with the infant in swaddling clothes would not be able to escape. Although Beixuan Mountain ahead was not a safe haven either, they had no choice but to take a gamble.
The man turned around and drew his natal sword: “I will fight to the death with you scum today.”
Seeing this, the woman swiftly stepped onto her flying sword and headed toward Beixuan Mountain. The harsh spiritual and demonic energy scraped against her body, cutting apart her once luxurious garments and slicing into the flesh beneath.
Yet, the infant in the woman’s arms was shielded perfectly.
Rushing headlong into the territory of Beixuan Mountain, the woman seemed to sense something, suddenly turning her head before instantly losing control of her tears. The infant in her arms, seeming to sense that its biological father had been torn apart by demons, began to wail loudly.
The baby’s crying startled the nearby fierce beasts. Before the woman could even react, she felt the oppressive weight of a high-level beast, forcing her to continue fleeing.
The pursuing demons tore the man who stayed behind to pieces, even directly extracting his inner core and devouring it.
Then, they chased up to the boundary of the Beixuan Mountain barrier. Just as they were hesitating whether to continue pursuing inside, before they could make a decision, they saw that huge beast chasing after the woman.
“Boss, are we still chasing?” A dark-skinned demon with two horns on his head and purple eyes respectfully asked the towering, nine-foot-tall high-level demon with red eyes, a ferocious visage, and a trident standing at the very front.
“Forget it. She is just a cultivation cauldron. Even the best one is not worth losing our lives over. This human cultivator’s inner core is already pretty good.” Seeing the giant beast, the red-eyed demon weighed the options and ultimately gave up the chase.
After all, the temptation of a cultivation cauldron was not that great.
“Let us go, time to head back. The Demon Lord’s birthday is tomorrow. We need to go find some other birthday gifts.”
However, just as the demons were preparing to leave, a powerful sword aura suddenly descended from the sky, instantly tearing the lesser demons to pieces.
“Leaving? Where to, everyone?” Accompanied by a cold voice, a cultivator dressed in red appeared in midair.
“A human powerhouse?” Seeing the red-robed cultivator in the air, the high-level demon instinctively wanted to run.
The feeling this person gave him was far too terrifying; she was simply not someone he could handle.
The red-robed female cultivator standing suspended in midair held a blood-red, malevolent-looking long sword in her hand, her long dark hair simply bound with a red hair ribbon.
A pair of phoenix eyes locked onto the demons on the ground, and she casually twirled her sword: “Did you not check your fortune today before going out?”
“Cut the crap.” Oppressed continuously by her imposing aura, the demon angrily raised the trident in his hand in an attempt to resist.
“Tsk, with just this bit of strength, you can only bully low-level cultivators with weak cultivation.”
Just as her voice fell, a stream of blood-red spiritual energy was seen winding around the woman’s body. Clearly spiritual energy, it was even more malevolent and fierce than demonic energy.
Feng Yang casually swung the sword in her hand: “What a pity, it is just a coincidence. I am the type of person who despises seeing anyone bully the weak.”
“And I despise small-time demons slaughtering my human race even more.”
The long sword pierced through the high-level demon’s chest, and the sword aura split his entire body apart before instantly reducing him to ashes, leaving not a bone behind, with even his soul being shredded.
Feng Yang landed on the ground and slightly raised her hand, and the long sword returned to her grasp.
“Hard work.”
The long sword emitted a clear ring, as if responding to its master.
“Why would she think of running into Beixuan Mountain?” Feng Yang raised her eyes to look at the barrier of Beixuan Mountain and sighed softly. This was going to be a bit troublesome.
“Forget it. I still have to go in.” She remembered that the woman who had just run in was holding a small infant in her arms.
Who knows what madness these demons were experiencing to chase even a small infant.
Feng Yang tightened her grip on the sword: “This place is not easy to enter; it is going to take quite a bit of effort again.”
Listening to her complaints, the long sword in her hand seemed quite excited: “Alright, calm down. We are not going in to fight; the main point is to save someone. Save someone, understand?”
Feng Yang stepped into the barrier. As soon as she entered, she felt the vastly different conditions inside and outside the barrier: the spiritual energy inside was more volatile, the demonic energy was richer, and the pressure belonging to demonic beasts and fierce beasts was everywhere.
Fortunately, this was not the first time Feng Yang had entered, so she did not lose control because of it.
She took a talisman paper from her embrace: “Track!”
The runes on the talisman paper were instantly activated, and then it chased in the direction where the woman had fled earlier.
Feng Yang pursued within Beixuan Mountain for three days, slaying two fierce beasts before finally catching up to the small infant.
The infant had been placed under a silencing curse and lay on the cold snow. The swaddling clothes wrapping her were stained with blood, forming a sharp contrast between red and white that Feng Yang found exceptionally distressing.
The baby began to wail upon seeing her, but bound by the silencing curse, she could only open her mouth to cry out silently without a single sound coming forth, making the scene all the more eerie.
Logically speaking, in such a cold climate, this little fellow should not have been able to survive on her own. Even a moment away from her mother’s protection in this place could freeze her to death.
Feng Yang crouched down and slightly lifted the swaddling cloth wrapped around the little one, and sure enough, she saw a glowing firestone wrapped inside. This item was a peerless treasure produced deep within the earth’s core.
Afterward, Feng Yang saw a voice-recording stone: “I beg you to save her. I am going to draw the beasts away, and my little girl has no way to repay you. I present this glowing firestone to the Daoist priest, only asking the priest to take my daughter out of this place.”
After listening, Feng Yang sighed softly and reached out to pick the little one up.
However, the moment she removed the silencing curse, the little one began to howl loudly. With crying like this, she was afraid to summon every demonic beast in Beixuan Mountain.
Feng Yang had no choice but to cast a silencing curse on her once again, and then took out a soul-searching talisman.
Infusing it with spiritual energy to activate the talisman paper, Feng Yang closed her eyes and released her spiritual sense. Yet, after searching the entire surrounding area thoroughly, Feng Yang could not find the soul of the little one’s mother; not even a remnant soul remained.
Raising her eyes toward the depths of Beixuan Mountain, Feng Yang hesitated for a moment before choosing to turn around.
“It is not that I will not save your mother; it is just way too dangerous inside, and I have not been there either. Alas.” Feng Yang sighed, and without hesitation, she took the little one and left Beixuan Mountain.
The barrier of Beixuan Mountain would prevent the fierce and demonic beasts inside from coming out; correspondingly, humans, demons, and beasts who went in could not get out all that easily either.
Feng Yang had spent two hundred years studying the edges of Beixuan Mountain before finding a way out. To be honest, letting her take someone else out was not easy either.
Far away from Beixuan Mountain, Feng Yang looked at her tattered clothes and sighed. Taking a trip to that place was truly not easy.
She lifted the little one’s silencing curse, and the moment it was removed, the little one started crying again.
Feng Yang had a bit of a headache. She had picked up quite a few disciples, but a baby just a few months old was truly her first time picking one up, and she had no idea how to raise one properly.
“Stop crying. You are giving me a headache with all that crying.” Feng Yang reached out to tease her, only for the little one to grab her finger and start biting down on it.
“Could it be that she is hungry?” Feng Yang suddenly had a flash of inspiration and thought of this possibility.
“Then what can you eat?” This stumped Feng Yang once again.
She had no idea what to feed this little one. In this freezing weather, what could there possibly be to feed her?
After much deliberation, she rummaged through her storage ring and fished out a Bigu pill, crushed it into tiny pieces, and fed it to the little one. However, the little one still could not swallow it.
Worried, Feng Yang took out her wine gourd and took a sip of wine.
The little one stared at her the whole time she was drinking. Having a sudden stroke of inspiration, Feng Yang used the wine to wash down the crushed Bigu pill and fed it to the little one.
Shortly after drinking a small sip of wine, the little one fell into a deep sleep, and Feng Yang was finally satisfied.
“She can actually absorb spiritual energy on her own? Then fine, she will not die.” The little one had automatically absorbed all the spiritual energy in the wine; she seemed to be born with a spiritual physique.
“Craving alcohol at such a young age, let us call you Wenjiu then. From now on, I am your master.” Having said that, Feng Yang stretched lazily, holding the little one in one arm: “Let us go, taking you back to meet your Senior Sister.”
All the way back to the Tianqing Sect, as soon as they entered the gates of Tianqing Sect, little Wenjiu woke up: “Sobered up?”
As soon as Feng Yang asked, little Wenjiu continued to cry.
With a massive headache, Feng Yang headed straight for Xiaoyao Peak.
As soon as she landed on the peak, she began to shout loudly: “Xiaoyao, Master is back! Did you miss Master? Were you lonely at home all by yourself?”
Mu Yao was sitting in the courtyard and could hear her master’s hollering.
A rare trace of helplessness flashed across her cold, serene face.
Just as she collected her composure, a flash of red appeared in the courtyard. Of course, the young girl sitting in the courtyard had her eyes tightly closed and naturally could not see it.
But she could sense her master’s arrival, as well as the noisy crying of the baby.
“Master? Where did you kidnap this baby girl from this time?” Mu Yao remained calm, showing no great expression upon hearing little Wenjiu’s cries. Ever since she was brought back to the sect by her master, she had grown accustomed to her master picking up a junior sister every few months.
“How can you call it kidnapping? Is your master that kind of person?” Feng Yang lowered her head and glanced at little Wenjiu in her arms.
“This little one is called Wenjiu. Master picked her up from the snow. She likes drinking alcohol at such a young age, so I simply named her Wenjiu. Is that not pretty good?”
Mu Yao kept her eyes tightly closed and sighed softly.
“She is hungry,” Mu Yao said with a hint of annoyance.
Feng Yang’s eyes rolled, and she placed the little one right into Mu Yao’s arms: “You hold her, you hold her. I will go ask your senior uncle what to feed someone so small; surely we cannot keep feeding her wine.”
Mu Yao could not see, but she could sense something suddenly added to her arms.
“Master…”
“I…” Although she could not see, she could still feel how tiny the little one in her arms was, and Mu Yao instantly became flustered and at a loss for what to do.
Yet shortly after, the little one actually stopped crying. Feng Yang bent down and watched as the little one seemed to be staring excitedly at Mu Yao.
“She is not crying anymore. Your little junior sister likes you, so hold her. Master is going to find some food for her.”
With that, Feng Yang walked away, leaving behind a bewildered and flustered Mu Yao and her new junior sister in her arms.
