The Film Queen’s Little Bunny Wife - Chapter 44
The following days continued with a similar itinerary.
In the mornings, Ling Hanyan took Xiaobai and Jiaojiao to work at the board game cafe, harvesting waves of fans with her masked, mysterious NPC persona.
In the evenings, after getting paid, she would wander the streets of Hainan, looking for items that could be exchanged for points.
The four other artists had a similar schedule, engaging with various people in their chosen part time jobs, bringing happiness and surprises to them.
Time quickly arrived at the final day, and the production team gathered everyone together.
A staff member announced, “We didn’t bring any money when we left today, but food is paramount, and we should still eat well.
At the beginning of the show, the production team treated everyone to a meal. Now that the show is over, we’d like to end with another meal.
However, this time, the production team will only provide the cooking utensils and the location. We will not provide anything else.
Everyone needs to use the money they earned previously to buy ingredients, and then figure out how to cook them themselves.”
“The two of us can only cook raw food until it’s cooked, but it won’t necessarily be delicious…” The ‘No Money’ duo looked expectantly at Ling Hanyan and the other two.
In the past, when the production team chose temporary guests, they could always invite someone who could cook. Mei Feifei had missed the braised pork made by the guest in the first episode for a full six years!
“I can pay, but don’t ask me to cook.” Yin Dengzhu was the first to take out the remaining wages from his pocket and toss them onto the table.
He put on an air of seniority and said, “My eyes are blurry in my old age, and I can’t even tell the difference between soy sauce and vinegar in the kitchen.”
Dou Tian forced a smile, weakly raised her hand, and said, “I, I can make scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and I can also steam rice.”
Ling Hanyan, who didn’t have much of a passion for food, found cooking harder than ascending to heaven. Just as she was about to give up, a voice entered her ears.
“Gugu.” Yanyan, what do you want to eat? I’ll teach you!
Rabbit Jiaojiao was currently playing with the two cats in the courtyard.
Noticing Ling Hanyan looking troubled out of the corner of her eye, she quickly stopped digging at the weeds in the stone cracks, hopped one step and then two to her feet, and proposed with sparkling eyes.
Where the camera couldn’t see, Ling Hanyan quietly gave an OK sign.
She parted her red lips and, facing everyone’s expectant gaze, spoke, “I can make simple dishes. We’ll see later.”
So, for the rest of the day, everyone noticed that Ling Hanyan had once again become inseparable from her Angora rabbit.
When discussing the menu, the rabbit sat on her lap, occasionally cooing a couple of times, as if offering suggestions.
When they went to the market to buy groceries, the rabbit lay in her arms, its eyes rolling around as it scrutinized the vegetables.
If Ling Hanyan chose an ingredient that wasn’t fresh, it would even press her hand down with its paw, urging her to put it back.
When it came time to cut vegetables and cook, the rabbit scurried around her feet, like a diligent supervisor.
Furthermore, when Ling Hanyan mistakenly took sugar for salt and was about to pour it into the pot, the rabbit by her feet happened to be playing with Xiaobai. It took a backward step and bumped hard into her, knocking the entire spoonful of sugar flying.
Dou Tian noticed this and joked, “If only there weren’t rules against animal spirits after the founding of the PRC, I’d suspect Sister Yan’s Angora rabbit is a fairy transformed. I feel like she’s the one teaching Sister Yan how to cook.”
Ling Hanyan was stunned but said nothing, continuing her work.
Rabbit Jiaojiao had just taught her to stir-fry two dishes, and by following the steps, she had already grasped the basic rules of cooking.
But seeing her figure out the answer so quickly startled Rabbit Jiaojiao. She also suspected she might have overdone it, appearing a bit too intelligent, almost like a spirit.
After some thought, she decided that since Dou Tian thought she was too smart, she would do something silly to compensate.
Rabbit Jiaojiao first pretended to casually glance at Dou Tian, saw she was deveining crayfish, and a plan formed in her mind. She ran over quickly, gingerly picked up the discarded crayfish tail, and pretended she was going to eat it.
Dou Tian immediately dismissed her earlier speculation and quickly shouted, “Sister Yan, come quickly and control your silly rabbit! Why does a herbivore want to eat crayfish?!”
She tried to pry open Rabbit Jiaojiao’s trifurcated mouth to pull out the crayfish tail, but the rabbit intentionally played tricks on her, shaking her head back and forth like a dog, refusing her touch.
Ling Hanyan saw that Rabbit Jiaojiao had actually taken Dou Tian’s words to heart and smiled helplessly.
She wiped her hands clean, came over, and picked up her rabbit, also making a motion as if retrieving something from its mouth. “Yueya’er, let go.”
Only then did Rabbit Jiaojiao spit out the shrimp tail, looking hazy eyed at Ling Hanyan and licking the small mole on her palm.
Then, as if nothing happened, she hopped out of her arms and went back to playing with the cats.
Over the past few days, she had developed a profound friendship with Huahua, instantly becoming a high status rabbit with two little followers.
As soon as she approached Huahua, the beautiful, short-statured kitten with a thin, un-puffed tail ran over.
Rabbit Jiaojiao heard its inner voice asking, “Is that thing delicious? It smells so good. I want to eat it too.”
“Gugu!” It’s not delicious! It’s bitter and salty. I really don’t know why humans like to eat that!
Rabbit Jiaojiao was afraid it would follow suit and cause trouble, so she continued to deceive the kitten without batting an eye.
Huahua trusted her words completely.
This directly led to a situation later when the food was ready, when Yin Dengzhu fed the peeled, unseasoned, and oil free crayfish he had specially steamed for Huahua and Xiaobai, the two little cats were very scared of it and dared not take a bite!
The next day, the recording of the Hainan season of the variety show ended, marking the day of final goodbyes.
Ling Hanyan went to say farewell to the artists, and Rabbit Jiaojiao wasn’t idle either.
She and Xiaobai were together comforting the tearful little Huahua.
“Meow.” My sister is gone, are you leaving too?
The calico kitten’s meow was long and gentle, carrying a tentative cautiousness, a stark contrast to the first time they met when it had been puffed up and hissing.
Hearing it made Rabbit Jiaojiao feel very sorry for it.
“Gugugu.” Sister will be back, and we will see each other again, definitely!
Rabbit Jiaojiao had eavesdropped when Ling Hanyan called the Dirty Cats production team.
They were planning to gather the six cats for a meet up in a few days. At that time, she would ask Ling Hanyan to bring her along, and wouldn’t they see each other then?
“Meowmeow.” We will meet again. Jiaojiao said my little sister will be found soon too.
Xiaobai naturally knew this answer sooner than Huahua. It rubbed against Huahua very hard, wanting to leave its scent on it.
At this moment, Yin Dengzhu opened the pet carrier and made chirping sounds at Huahua, wanting to call it back.
Huahua played coy with the two other furry friends for a moment longer before finally entering the cage.
After everyone left and the small courtyard returned to silence, Ling Hanyan checked into a secluded seaside hotel with her luggage.
She had told Sister Mao that she didn’t have any immediate work engagements and just wanted to relax by the sea alone for a few days, so there was no rush to go back.
Sister Mao wanted to send Xiao Liang over to look after Ling Hanyan, but she politely refused.
Are you kidding? After finally getting rid of a bunch of distracting people and earning the chance to be alone with Jiaojiao, how could she let that go?
Upon arriving at the hotel, Xiaobai was settled in the living room.
Ling Hanyan, with some conscience, set out its food and water, then, holding her rabbit, went into the bedroom without looking back.
“Yanyan, when are we going home?” Rabbit Jiaojiao lay stretched out on the bed, only showing a short tail.
From behind, one might mistake her for a plush toy.
“In a few days,” Ling Hanyan also lay down on the bed, playing with her tail with intermittent movements, feeling the texture getting better and better.
“Hmm…” Feeling a wave of tingling sensation, Rabbit Jiaojiao wriggled her butt and burrowed into the quilt.
She hid her tail, adamantly refusing to let Yanyan touch it any further.
She was still looking forward to the ‘closeness’ she and Yanyan had promised once they got home, but she hadn’t expected the time to go home to be postponed again, and she felt a little sad.
“Why is Jiaojiao unhappy?” Ling Hanyan was dissatisfied with her escape, so she lifted the quilt and continued to stroke her tail.
“I, I miss home,” Rabbit Jiaojiao stammered in response, a warmth rising in her heart.
She missed home and missed her sister, was that it?
Ling Hanyan lowered her gaze in thought and comforted her, “We’ll go back in two days, and then you’ll see your sister.”
“It’s not that I miss my sister.” To her surprise, Rabbit Jiaojiao shook her head, clamping Ling Hanyan’s hand, which was stroking the rabbit, between her two hind legs.
She flipped over, exposing her soft, furry belly, and whispered, “Yanyan promised that once we got home, we would…”
Mid-sentence, she became shy again, covering her eyes with her front paws, her voice as thin as a mosquito’s buzz: “…we would do the most intimate thing.”
Thankfully, she had been keeping her rabbit form lately and had been influenced by animal instincts quite a bit, otherwise, she wouldn’t have been so bold.
“We can do it now.”
Ling Hanyan’s voice exploded in Rabbit Jiaojiao’s ears like a sudden clap of thunder.
“Transform.” In her surprised expression, the depths of Ling Hanyan’s eyes seemed to hold a dark vortex drawing her slowly downward, and her voice continued clearly, “Change into your human form.”
Outside the window, which was covered by curtains, the waves crashed repeatedly against the soft, gentle sand.
It seemed to be exhausting all its strength to smooth out the grooves in the ground, and yet, it also seemed to be leaving its moist trace behind, marking it completely with its own brand.
Rabbit Jiaojiao’s first experience was gentle yet surging. Yanyan restrained herself with her breathing.
Her fingernails were neatly clipped and filed smooth and round.
She never hurt her, yet what she gave her was so much, so profound.
She couldn’t remember how many times she saw a rainbow, and by the end, Rabbit Jiaojiao’s soft moans were mixed with a crying tone.
Ling Hanyan didn’t understand much either; she relied entirely on skills learned on the spot and instinct, but her rabbit was very satisfied, and that was enough.
“Yanyan, let me help you…” Lying on the bed like a salted fish, unable to flip over, Rabbit Jiaojiao looked at Ling Hanyan whose hair was messy, whose voice was hoarse, and who seemed a thousand times more beautiful than usual and felt as if she had regained some strength.
“Maybe next time,” Ling Hanyan kissed her repeatedly on the lips, gently embracing the little rabbit who couldn’t handle too much and whose body was still trembling slightly.
A few days later, the two boarded a flight back home. This time, Rabbit Jiaojiao boarded in her human form.
Ling Hanyan felt a little regretful that she couldn’t hold the rabbit the entire way.
But she was also happy, as Rabbit Jiaojiao wouldn’t be afraid this way, and it was better for her recovery.
A few days were enough for her to go from a beginner to proficient, and Rabbit Jiaojiao, as the recipient of the affection, needed a good rest even more.
The little rabbit, nourished by love, had become even more beautiful. Seeing her made Ling Hanyan have indescribable thoughts, which made her happy.
Regarding the matter of “give and take,” she had been stalling, and the “next time” she promised Rabbit Jiaojiao had not yet arrived.
However, she couldn’t stall for too long; the little rabbit was already eager to paint her cool and aloof Yanyan with color.
