The Film Queen’s Little Bunny Wife - Chapter 14
The setting sun sank into the mountain stream, and the sky gradually darkened. The streetlights on both sides of the winding mountain road had just flickered on, their light faint and shallow.
Ling Hanyan’s eyes narrowed slightly, and she recognized the distraught girl ahead was indeed Lin Yingxue.
But she wasn’t quite sure why the young woman was crying.
She rarely took an interest in people or events outside of her work, only remembering that Lin Yingxue hadn’t been bothering her much since last week.
However, Ling Hanyan couldn’t stand to see anyone cry, so without hesitation, she pulled Jiaojiao along and walked forward to intercept the person.
“Oh dear.” Lin Yingxue’s head was bowed, immersed in her own world. She was genuinely startled to have her path suddenly blocked.
Seeing that it was Sister Yan and Jiaojiao, she forced a stiff smile, greeted them, and hid the crumpled tissue in her pocket.
Looking at her, it didn’t seem like she would open up.
Ling Hanyan pondered for a moment. Instead of asking directly why she was crying, she pretended not to notice the tear stains around her eyes and asked, “Xue, why are you coming down the mountain alone? It’s dark, it’s not safe.”
“I… I’ve wrapped my scenes, Sister Yan,” Lin Yingxue said, biting her lower lip.
Her gaze lingered on Tu Jiaojiao for a few seconds, curious as to why this delicate, soft girl was visiting the set again.
If it were in the past, she would definitely inquire further, but now… she truly wasn’t in the mood.
Ling Hanyan raised an eyebrow and disagreed, “I remember the main plotline for Princess Dianbing hasn’t been filmed yet. Why did you suddenly wrap your scenes?”
“Did the screenwriter impulsively cut all your scenes? How could he do that? Cutting scenes that highlight the character can this movie even be shot well?! Come on, Sis will take you to reason with him.”
“No, Sister Yan, it’s not like that.” Hearing Ling Hanyan’s undisguised defense, the rock piled precariously over Lin Yingxue’s heart instantly collapsed, no longer able to support her outward pretense of strength.
“Princess Dianbing’s scenes are still there; I’ve been replaced!” She wrapped her arms around her legs, squatted down, buried her head, and sobbed uncontrollably.
Tu Jiaojiao, overhearing this, was also filled with questions.
It was absurd. Unless the actor themselves did something wrong, why would they suddenly replace the second female lead halfway through filming?
But Lin Yingxue was cheerful, her acting was solid, and she had good audience appeal. How could she be replaced for no reason?
She recalled the stills she had seen before; Lin Yingxue was definitely in them, so there must be a turn of events.
After Lin Yingxue’s outburst of tears, Ling Hanyan was stunned. This was why she feared people crying the most she didn’t know how to comfort them!
At this moment, she could only squat down awkwardly, frantically rummaging through her cross body bag to find a tissue for her.
Tu Jiaojiao received her pleading signal, took a deep breath, and also squatted down.
She gently stroked her back and softly comforted her, “Xue, tell us what exactly happened. Where are your manager and assistant?”
“Everyone online was so happy when they heard you were playing Princess Dianbing; even I became your fan.”
“Filming has been going on for so long; they wouldn’t easily replace someone. Even if they did replace you, they’d have to follow a process, right? Why would they let you leave the set alone? There must be a misunderstanding.”
Seeing Lin Yingxue listening to her words and gradually calming down, Ling Hanyan sighed in relief.
She gave Tu Jiaojiao a look of praise and chimed in, “Exactly. If you run away from the set in this desolate mountain area because of something unconfirmed and run into danger, then you really won’t be able to continue playing Princess Dianbing.”
These words made Lin Yingxue feel a chill of fear. She wiped her tears and shivered, “Then let’s hurry back. It’s dark, and the three of us girls together aren’t safe…”
Tu Jiaojiao looked left and right. The gusts of mountain wind made her feel cold and uneasy.
She also widened her moist, big eyes and nodded repeatedly, “Yes, yes, let’s hurry back!”
If she were on the familiar Mingling Mountain, she wouldn’t be afraid of the cool breeze, but this was her first time on this mountain, and she felt insecure…
Actually, this mountain area was known for its honest and simple folk customs, which was why the location for the outdoor scenes was chosen here. Ling Hanyan had only said that to scare Lin Yingxue.
But she didn’t expect to accidentally scare Tu Jiaojiao as well!
Ling Hanyan watched firsthand as she crossed the boundary between fan and celebrity. Due to fear, her small hand unconsciously hooked onto her arm, and her soft, light body leaned in, pressing tightly against her…
She felt a strange mixture of dark satisfaction and helplessness.
On the other side, Lin Yingxue was also tightly gripping her arm. With the two timid girls sandwiching her on the left and right, walking was truly uncomfortable.
But words spoken are like water poured out there’s no taking them back. Ling Hanyan silently endured the two “appendages” clinging to her.
After just a few steps, a car sped past, headlights on high beam, making it impossible to see the faces of the people inside.
Unexpectedly, the car stopped after a dozen meters. Hearing the screeching of the mechanical brakes, all three of them jumped, their expressions serious as they quickened their pace.
“Don’t go! It’s me, Li Shang!”
Tu Jiaojiao didn’t know who that was and was still trying to pull Ling Hanyan to run.
However, the latter didn’t budge, the car lights casting a shadow on her long, curly eyelashes.
Someone had arrived, and Ling Hanyan still didn’t let go of her hand, laughing softly, “You’re safe now, little bunny. That’s our director.”
