The Film Queen Is Cold and Ruthless, Only Sends Money - Chapter 42.4
Ye Ying was the same, searching for NPCs, looking particularly eager to prove herself.
Su Yun was still holding onto Jiang Zhi’s sleeve, the two of them walking at the back.
Whatever monsters and ghosts there were, let these brave souls face them! Lying flat is the first rule of the game.
【It’s so dark, I can barely tell how many of them there are!】
【Watching the live show and being able to ‘play’ in the haunted house, the production team really doesn’t treat us viewers as outsiders! Love it!】
【I’m actually a bit scared of horror elements like Su Yun, should I continue watching the live stream? Starting to hesitate. I really don’t want to miss their exciting moments!】
【Don’t worry upstairs, playing online definitely won’t be scary! We’ll protect you with our comments! Besides, even Su Yun, who’s so scared, has gone in, hahaha! No need to worry!】
【That makes sense, but Su Yun has Jiang Zhi with her, while I’m watching the live stream all alone QAQ】
【I wasn’t scared of horror elements at all, but what you said upstairs seems to have affected me, boohoo!】
The guests were eagerly trying to solve the puzzles, even managing to chat with NPCs and recommend the show they were recording.
No matter how scary it was, Su Yun couldn’t feel fear anymore.
She said to Jiang Zhi, “I thought it would be quite terrifying, but now it seems acceptable.”
“You really don’t need to be scared; just ignore the sounds around you,” Jiang Zhi conveyed her method to Su Yun.
To create a terrifying atmosphere, sound, visuals, and props are all essential; as long as you ignore certain things and remember that the people in front of you are just NPCs, you naturally won’t feel scared.
“I’m trying to ignore it, but I’m actually quite curious,” Su Yun said. Having grown up in an orphanage, she had never been to an amusement park, and after starting work, she hadn’t had much time. This was her first visit: “I thought the haunted house would be really scary.”
Unexpectedly, it felt pretty good; although there was fear, there was more curiosity, wanting to see which corner a bloodied, pale arm might suddenly emerge from, or where a sudden scream might come from.
Of course, she had to thank her teammates who had worked hard to solve the puzzles ahead of her, allowing her to truly feel like a casual player!
Jiang Zhi chuckled lightly, “You seem pretty brave.”
She thought that if Su Yun watched a few more horror movies, next time she might just disguise herself as an NPC to scare the currently enthusiastic guests.
Hearing this, Su Yun immediately shook her head, making sure Jiang Zhi’s sleeve was still clutched in her hand: “I’m actually very timid! It’s only because you’re by my side that I’m not scared!”
It was as if she feared that if she admitted she wasn’t scared, Jiang Zhi would leave her.
Jiang Zhi hummed in response, “Then remember to hold on tight.”
[Su Yun, why does that sound so much like you’re coquettishly teasing her, hahaha! How could Jiang Zhi possibly leave now?!]
[Is this the little game couples play?! One says, “I’m only not scared because you’re here,” and the other replies, “Then remember to hold on tight.” So! Freaking! Sweet!]
[What are you all waiting for? Hurry up and take notes! If you still don’t have a girlfriend in the future, don’t blame it on being bad with words! Su Yun and Jiang Zhi have practically handed you the answer!]
[I’m trying my best to learn, but I still have to ask so in the end, was Su Yun actually scared or not?]
[You’re hopeless, next! Whether she was scared or not doesn’t even matter, hehe. What matters is that Jiang Zhi thinks she was!]
–
Su Yun and Jiang Zhi chatted the entire time amidst the clamor of the people ahead. When they finally saw sunlight, Su Yun asked the group in front, puzzled, “Are we out now?”
“Of course we’re out! If it weren’t for the crucial clue I found at the end, we’d probably still be wandering around inside for at least another half hour!” Su Xue said to them, still riding the high of her earlier discovery.
Lin Yan also started assigning credit: “Yeah, but it’s also thanks to me for getting the clue from the NPC. Their face was covered in blood at the time, and the rest of you all backed off!”
They went back and forth about their respective contributions, but after a few minutes, Jing Zhaozhao finally snapped back to reality and asked them, “Where were you two the whole time?”
She felt like their presence had been practically nonexistent from start to finish!
“We were following behind you the whole time,” Su Yun said.
Jiang Zhi also nodded. “At the very end, when you asked for prime numbers under ten, I was the one who answered.”
That was pretty much the only useful thing they did the entire time.
As for solving puzzles, triggering mechanisms, or having “friendly” exchanges with the staff dressed as ghosts they just watched from the back.
If asked about their experience, all they could say was that it felt pretty nice not having to do anything themselves.
Their honest answer left the other guests in stunned silence.
“…” Lin Yan stopped boasting about her earlier achievements and asked the others, “What was the point of us going into the haunted house again?”
“To scare Su Yun and get some reaction shots of them,” Liu Yangran answered.
But her tone clearly lacked the excitement she’d had when she first suggested taking Su Yun to the haunted house.
Su Xue coughed twice and asked Su Yun without much hope, “So, were you scared?”
Su Yun didn’t answer the question directly. Instead, she said, “The air conditioning in there was pretty nice.”
Probably to create a chilly, dark atmosphere, the haunted house had the AC cranked up high, so it never felt hot.
Su Xue: “…”
The plan was a complete failure.
Who would have thought that once they got inside, they completely let loose and even forgot their initial goal. Forget about scaring the other person into making meme-worthy expressions, the person remained utterly unfazed!
As the one who got tricked, Su Yun could still comfort them: “It’s okay. Even though I didn’t contribute any reaction memes for the audience, I’m sure you guys added quite a few to your collection.”
They explored with boldness, but after all, it was their first time in a haunted house, and they weren’t entirely familiar with its layout and pathways. Getting scared a few times was perfectly normal.
Following behind, Su Yun and Jiang Zhi could often hear their varying degrees of screams or excited cheers.
Judging by the sounds alone, there would be no shortage of meme-worthy material.
After Su Yun’s reminder, their memories gradually fell back into place.
Lin Yan: “No need to comfort us anymore.”
This time, it hurt even more!
【[Woo-hoo.jpg], thanks to Su Yun for the inspiration, I whipped up a meme real quick, hehe, it’s seriously so useful!】
【I was originally trying to see if I could find material of Su Yun and Jiang Zhi to make a meme, but after watching for ages, those two are always stuck together!】
【Forget about making memes, I’ll just enjoy my dog food in peace!】
The production team hadn’t specified which attractions they had to visit, giving them a lot of freedom, so no one was in a rush to move on to the next activity. They simply wandered around the amusement park at their leisure.
“No matter how many times I see it, I still have to say, it’s seriously huge!” Ye Ying exclaimed in awe.
The amusement park even had dedicated sightseeing carts to ferry visitors to different areas, which just went to show how massive the place really was!
Su Xue: “Hey, look over there! What do I see?”
As she spoke, she deliberately pointed it out to Su Yun, who glanced over. “Are those cosplayers from Deliberately Falling for You?”
Of course, there were quite a few cosplayers, each portraying different characters, but she had immediately recognized the one she mentioned.
Their costumes were incredibly detailed, making them instantly recognizable even from a distance proof of just how familiar they were with the comic.
“You recognized them too!” Su Xue grinned, delighted to find a fellow fan. “They must be here for some kind of event. I never expected to see this at an amusement park, no wonder the director said this place caters to all age groups!”
Usually, cosplay events were held in high-traffic areas like shopping malls. This was her first time seeing one at an amusement park.
“And that’s not all.” Su Yun withdrew her gaze, only to spot something even more surprising.
Their footsteps halted at the sight of the activity area before them.
It was sizable, resembling an oversized dance machine, with a sign on the perimeter that read: Square Dancing Zone Opens at 9 PM.
From the elderly to the young, from 2D to 3D this amusement park truly left no potential customer behind!
–
By the time they finished the remaining two attractions and left the amusement park, they were still reluctant to go.
“If it weren’t for lunch, I think I could’ve stayed here all day,” Su Xue said wistfully, turning back for one last look at the park’s entrance before leaving.
So, when she returned to the production team’s location and saw the waiting director, her first words were: “Director, you really missed out! The amusement park was amazing!”
“Yeah, every single attraction was so much fun!” Liu Yangran chimed in, doing her best to make the director feel regret.
Director: “???”
She never did anything she’d regret!
Although the guests were saying this now, if she really followed them to the amusement park, whether it was the haunted house or the drop tower, she probably wouldn’t be able to escape!
The director changed the subject: “It seems everyone had a great time this morning, and congratulations on completing the assigned tasks. We’ve prepared the ingredients and utensils for lunch, so everyone can start cooking now!”
The topic shift was obvious, but after a morning of activities, the guests were indeed hungry and headed to the kitchen to check out the ingredients provided by the production team.
“Quite a variety,” Xu Zhi estimated roughly. “These ingredients should be enough for seven or eight dishes.”
As long as they didn’t accidentally ruin the dishes, there would definitely be enough for everyone to eat their fill at noon.
“Let’s divide the tasks simply? We can all prep the ingredients together, and then each team can be responsible for two dishes, how does that sound?” Lin Yan suggested.
“Sounds good!” Liu Yangran rolled up her sleeves, ready to showcase her culinary skills!
Due to the kitchen’s layout, it couldn’t accommodate too many people, so the others took the easier-to-prep ingredients outside, leaving Su Yun and Jiang Zhi inside to wash the vegetables.
Su Yun placed the vegetables into two basins. As she handed one to Jiang Zhi, her fingers accidentally brushed against the other’s cool fingertips.
Instinctively, she wanted to pull back but forgot she was still holding the basin.
Luckily, Jiang Zhi caught it, or else they might not have had any intact vegetables for lunch!
Jiang Zhi spoke first, asking, “Were you spacing out just now?”
As she spoke, she casually turned off her own microphone, making the livestream go silent. Now, only Su Yun could hear her voice.
“Yeah,” Su Yun wanted to reply she had been thinking about what dishes to make later and whether to let the director try Ye Ying’s group’s food first.
But before she could say any of this, she felt cool fingertips touch her chin, like cold jade brushing against her skin, making her lower her gaze instinctively.
Jiang Zhi repeated the motion, turning off Su Yun’s microphone as well.
A soft voice reached Su Yun’s ears as Jiang Zhi asked quietly, “Is it because of what happened in the fitting room?”
