The Film Empress White Moonlight Wants To Be A Salted Fish - Chapter 61
Ever since Lu Yiran and Wen Shiyan got together, Lu Yiran felt their interactions were even more comfortable than before.
The day before the launch ceremony and press conference for the movie, “The World Only Has Night,” Chu Han intentionally kept the details about Lu Yiran’s role a secret on Weibo to maintain an air of mystery.
Many people asked on Chu Han’s Weibo which actress would be playing the supporting female role, but Chu Han only replied mysteriously that they would find out on the day of the launch ceremony.
The night before the ceremony, Lu Yiran lay in bed with a heavy heart. After reading the script, she felt as if she had forgotten something very important, but she just couldn’t remember what it was.
Hearing a rustling sound next to her, Wen Shiyan asked Lu Yiran, “Can’t sleep?”
Lu Yiran was hesitant to admit she couldn’t sleep, so she quietly told Wen Shiyan that she was just a little nervous.
Wen Shiyan got up, got dressed, and picked up an overcoat, saying, “Let’s go, let’s go up to the hotel’s rooftop.” Wen Shiyan also brought a bottle of red wine from the room.
Lu Yiran came down from the bed in confusion, and Wen Shiyan draped the overcoat over her.
The two of them went up to the rooftop and found a place to sit. There was heating inside the room, but the rooftop outside was constantly swept by the wind.
“Shiyan, what if the world really only had night?” Lu Yiran suddenly asked Wen Shiyan. Wen Shiyan poured a little wine for Lu Yiran and placed the glass in front of her.
“That won’t happen. I won’t let that happen,” Wen Shiyan said, taking a sip of red wine.
Looking at Wen Shiyan, who spoke those words with such a serious expression, Lu Yiran couldn’t help but want to laugh.
Lu Yiran joked with Wen Shiyan, “Wen Shiyan, are you, perhaps, the person who manages this world?”
Wen Shiyan nodded, answering Lu Yiran’s question without hesitation. “Yes, you guessed correctly.”
“Wow,” Lu Yiran pretended to be surprised, covering her mouth. However, she knew Wen Shiyan was just joking with her, and after a laugh, she finished the wine in her glass.
Lu Yiran still had no idea about her alcohol tolerance. After draining the glass, she quietly watched the night sky for a moment before her head slumped onto Wen Shiyan’s shoulder. Wen Shiyan picked up Lu Yiran and carried her downstairs back to their room.
This time, Lu Yiran had no strange or troubling dreams. After waking up, she first talked briefly with Du Mian, whom she hadn’t contacted in a while. Then, she yawned and, urged by Wen Shiyan, went to wash up and change her clothes.
“Wait a moment.” Just as Lu Yiran was about to put on a dress, Wen Shiyan stopped her. Lu Yiran asked, puzzled, “What’s wrong?”
Wen Shiyan handed a set of clothes to Lu Yiran.
“It’s still a little cold out,” Wen Shiyan said, helping Lu Yiran put on a shirt, buttoning it up, and then putting a hoodie over it. Finally, she put the overcoat on Lu Yiran before letting go.
Realizing that Wen Shiyan had seen her undressed, Lu Yiran blushed, pushed Wen Shiyan away, and shyly hurried out the door.
Wen Shiyan followed behind Lu Yiran. On the way, they met Chu Han, who cheerfully went to greet them. However, as soon as she extended her hand, she saw the blushing Lu Yiran walk past her quickly with her head lowered.
Chu Han stopped Wen Shiyan and asked what was wrong with Lu Yiran. “Is she sick? Why is her face so red?” Chu Han looked at Wen Shiyan as she finished speaking. Wen Shiyan replied, “She’s not sick, she’s probably just hot. I’ll go find her now.” Wen Shiyan made to leave.
“Hey, don’t go yet.” Chu Han followed Wen Shiyan.
The launch ceremony was set to begin at eight o’clock. After participating in the incense offering and worship with the crew, Lu Yiran stayed with the crowd of reporters below the stage. No one noticed her, as their attention was focused on the actors on the stage.
After the opening remarks, the host began to introduce the director, producer, and actors one by one. However, the host did not reveal much about the most important supporting role in the movie.
The fans below the stage grew impatient and began to question the director on stage.
“Hurry up and tell us who it is! Being so mysterious, it must be some incredible actor!”
Unfortunately, Lu Yiran was far from “incredible.” She walked up from the crowd, and Wen Shiyan helped her take off her sunglasses and mask.
Lu Yiran smiled at the people below: “It’s me!”
At first, the audience didn’t react, staring at Lu Yiran in a daze. After they came back to their senses, they started whispering and discussing.
“Hello, Miss Wen, are you and Lu Yiran really together? Since you are together, why didn’t you tell your fans who love you?”
One reporter was the first to ask this question, and the rest of the reporters quickly followed up with their own.
“Lu Yiran, didn’t you say you had retired from the entertainment industry?”
“Given Lu Yiran is playing such an important role, did she really get this part on her own merit?”
“Did you only get this role because of Wen Shiyan, and did you get together with Wen Shiyan just for this role?”
When a male reporter spoke the last question, the entire venue looked at him. Everyone knew how powerful Lu Yiran’s family was; even if she got the role through family connections, it was impossible that she would get together with Wen Shiyan just for a role. The question was utterly pointless.
The man probably realized his question was inappropriate and hurriedly left the crowd.
After he left, Wen Shiyan answered the first question. “Do we not look like we’re dating?”
Everyone present was stunned by Wen Shiyan’s reply, especially the reporter who asked the question. She never expected Wen Shiyan to answer directly, let alone so decisively.
The movie was the main focus, so Wen Shiyan guided the reporters to ask other questions.
“Miss Lu, could you tell us your understanding of your role?”
Lu Yiran looked at Wen Shiyan, who nodded at her, encouraging her to speak.
“I feel that this character was initially a soulless vessel… until the protagonist’s arrival brought light into her dark world, and she truly became herself.”
Chu Han smiled and said to the reporters, “I believe Yiran’s participation will bring everyone a more perfect movie.”
The reporters smiled and replied, “We are also looking forward to this movie, but we still have doubts about whether Miss Lu can play this role well. We hope the final product will truly be as Director Chu says.”
After the launch ceremony ended, everyone took a group photo on the stage.
Chu Han announced to everyone, “Lunch is on me! Everyone go back to the hotel to freshen up, and then meet downstairs!”
Back in the room, Lu Yiran collapsed onto the bed and refused to get up when Wen Shiyan pulled her.
Lu Yiran’s voice was muffled from under the blanket as she said, “Wen Shiyan, is it really okay for you to announce our relationship like that?”
Knowing what Lu Yiran was worried about, Wen Shiyan sat beside her and stroked her head.
“Aren’t we going to be together forever? We were going to go public eventually. I won’t let you have an unacknowledged relationship with me.”
After Wen Shiyan finished speaking, Lu Yiran quietly glanced at her. Caught by Wen Shiyan, Lu Yiran had no choice but to get out of bed.
“Let’s go,” Lu Yiran extended her hand to Wen Shiyan. Wen Shiyan held Lu Yiran’s hand and stood up.
Originally, Chu Han had only invited the crew members for the meal, but the film investors also showed up. Lu Yiran sat next to Wen Shiyan, but as soon as she sat down, a portly man shouted at her.
“Which company’s artist are you? I’ve never seen you before! How can you sit next to Miss Wen?” The man got up and came over to Lu Yiran, wanting her to sit on the side so he could sit next to Wen Shiyan. The people next to the man quickly advised him not to say that.
However, the man clearly didn’t listen. He reached out to grab Lu Yiran’s arm. Wen Shiyan frowned, pulled Lu Yiran into her embrace, and looked at the man.
“Mr. Li, have you forgotten something?”
“Exactly, Brother Li, she and Miss Wen are a couple, what are you doing?” The man next to him said, pulling him aside. Then, he quietly whispered something to the man.
The man’s gaze towards Lu Yiran immediately changed after he heard the explanation. No wonder he felt Lu Yiran looked a little familiar she turned out to be the daughter of Pei Ruochu and Lu Chiqiu! He quickly apologized to Lu Yiran.
“No need for an apology, Yiran. Let’s go.” After Wen Shiyan said this, Lu Yiran still felt angry. However, the man in front of them was so big that they wouldn’t win if they fought.
Lu Yiran let go of Wen Shiyan’s hand, walked to the table, picked up her glass, and splashed the cold water onto the man. Then, she pulled Wen Shiyan’s hand and left.
“I’ve seen him at my mom’s company. He spoke to me like a decent person back then, but doing this today definitely exposed his true nature. And he even wanted to sit next to you!” Lu Yiran angrily kicked the pebbles on the road.
After a while, Lu Yiran was still very angry. Everyone and everything wanted to cling to Wen Shiyan, but Wen Shiyan was hers!
Looking at the pouting Lu Yiran, Wen Shiyan squeezed her palm and said, “Alright, don’t be angry. I just texted Chu Han that we’ll return to the set in the evening. Let’s go eat first.”
Only then did Lu Yiran remember that she and Wen Shiyan hadn’t eaten yet.
Returning to the set in the evening, while Wen Shiyan was in the bathroom, Lu Yiran called Lu Chiqiu to complain, feeling wronged.
“Mom, that guy has bad character, and he even tried to lay hands on me at noon.”
Lu Chiqiu recalled that her company had indeed cooperated with that man’s family company.
“But luckily, Wen Shiyan was there; otherwise, I couldn’t have beaten him up.” As soon as Lu Yiran finished speaking, the voice on the phone changed to Pei Ruochu’s.
“Yes, we know. Your mother and I will handle it.”
After hanging up, Pei Ruochu handed the phone to Lu Chiqiu. Lu Chiqiu couldn’t help but say to Pei Ruochu, “Let’s go together and get a peace talisman for Yiran another day.”
Wen Shiyan walked out of the bathroom, wiping her dripping hair, and said to Lu Yiran, “I’m done washing up, Yiran, you go in.”
Putting away her phone, as Lu Yiran passed Wen Shiyan, she suddenly felt Wen Shiyan smelled incredibly good, making her want to taste it…
Thinking this, Lu Yiran walked up to Wen Shiyan and looked at her. Wen Shiyan put down the towel she was using to dry her hair and was about to ask Lu Yiran what was wrong when Lu Yiran stepped forward, grabbed Wen Shiyan’s hand, wrapped her arms around her neck, and swiftly kissed her on the lips. Her small tongue skillfully pried open Wen Shiyan’s teeth, and they kissed deeply and passionately.
Lu Yiran released Wen Shiyan, and a faint, ambiguous silvery thread connected their lips. Lu Yiran’s tongue licked the corner of Wen Shiyan’s mouth, and she smiled mischievously: “Very delicious. Thank you for the meal.”
