The Film Empress White Moonlight Wants To Be A Salted Fish - Chapter 38
“Sister Xiao Yu, thanks.” Lu Yiran said as she took the porridge from Xiao Yu and handed it to Wen Shiyan. “Eat. Sister Xiao Yu said you haven’t eaten much these past few days.” After Lu Yiran spoke, she saw Wen Shiyan look at her right hand where the IV drip was.
Seeing Wen Shiyan still not moving, Lu Yiran asked her, “Can you hold a spoon with your left hand?” Wen Shiyan shook her head. “Alright, wait here.” Lu Yiran said, then got up and went out.
After Lu Yiran left, Wen Shiyan asked Xiao Yu, who was sitting beside her. “Sister Xiao Yu, have you eaten?” Xiao Yu looked at Wen Shiyan in disbelief; Wen Shiyan had clearly written with her left hand in front of her before.
“You know how to write with your left hand, don’t you? Why…” Before Xiao Yu could finish, Wen Shiyan heard Lu Yiran approaching. She took a bun and placed it in Xiao Yu’s hand. “Sister Xiao Yu, eat more.” Wen Shiyan said, smiling faintly at Xiao Yu.
“Wen Shiyan, here’s a straw for you.” Lu Yiran helped Wen Shiyan unwrap the straw and gave it to her. Sitting down and watching Wen Shiyan drink the porridge, Lu Yiran suddenly remembered Ruan Ning and Lu Shiran, whom she hadn’t seen all day. “Speaking of which, where did Ruan Ning and the others go?”
“Oh, didn’t Ruan Ning say she wasn’t feeling well? I told Lu Shiran to go keep her company.” Xiao Yu finished speaking and then made a phone call to ask Ruan Ning how she was doing.
After finishing the porridge, Wen Shiyan asked Xiao Yu. “What’s left to film for the variety show?” Xiao Yu clicked on the message Director Zhang had sent her and showed it to Wen Shiyan. “Only the ending is left. This variety show of yours was originally for promoting the countryside, and they change cast members every few episodes. Although the content might be a bit boring, the main focus is on charity donations.”
“By the way, you two must stay away from Qin Mo from now on. Especially you, Lu Yiran.” Wen Shiyan said, looking at Lu Yiran. “Huh?” Lu Yiran pointed to herself, asking confusedly, “Why? I don’t have any issues with Qin Mo.”
“Just listen to me.” Wen Shiyan said weakly. Although Lu Yiran still didn’t completely understand, she decided to listen to Wen Shiyan.
“Well, let me interrupt. We might not be able to stay away from her so quickly.” Xiao Yu still completely trusted Wen Shiyan’s words and continued, “We still have to go to the seaside with the production team later…”
“Then we won’t go. I’ll tell Director Zhang right now.” Wen Shiyan said, reaching for her phone to call Director Zhang.
It was the first time Xiao Yu had seen Wen Shiyan be so willful. She took Wen Shiyan’s phone. “Shiyan, don’t be like this. We agreed with the production team earlier; how can we go back on our word?” After Xiao Yu finished, Wen Shiyan realized she had indeed been overly anxious.
“I’m sorry…”
Wen Shiyan’s hand dropped powerlessly to her side.
The moment her voice fell, Wen Shiyan heard Qin Mo’s voice outside the door. “Miss Wen, are you okay?” Hearing Qin Mo’s voice, Wen Shiyan abruptly got up and out of bed, disregarding the needle still in her right hand.
Seeing the blood flowing from Wen Shiyan’s hand, Lu Yiran’s eyes widened. She rushed forward and tightly hugged Wen Shiyan from behind to prevent her from doing anything rash. “Wen Shiyan! Are you crazy?!” Lu Yiran grabbed Wen Shiyan’s flailing hand and said.
Hearing Lu Yiran’s voice, the strength left Wen Shiyan’s body, and she knelt on the floor.
Seeing that no one was opening the door and hearing the commotion inside, Qin Mo opened the door herself. What she saw was Lu Yiran hugging Wen Shiyan on the ground.
Wen Shiyan lowered her head, clenching her fists, forcing herself not to look at Qin Mo. Seeing the blood on Wen Shiyan’s hand flowing non-stop, Lu Yiran frantically told Xiao Yu to call a nurse.
“Miss Qin, could… could you please step outside for a moment? There’s blood here, and it wouldn’t be good for you to see it…” After Lu Yiran spoke, Qin Mo saw there was indeed blood splattered around Wen Shiyan and left understandingly.
Lu Yiran hugged Wen Shiyan and whispered, “Wen Shiyan, listen to me, go sit on the bed now. I won’t let her come near you.” Wen Shiyan, held by Lu Yiran, was trembling. Lu Yiran gently patted her back to calm her.
Seeing Lu Yiran about to get up and go to Qin Mo, Wen Shiyan reached out and grabbed Lu Yiran’s shirt corner. “Don’t… Lu Yiran, don’t go over there…”
Xiao Yu entered the room and was shocked to see Wen Shiyan. “You… Shiyan, did I really give you too much work before and make you too tired?” Xiao Yu said as she helped Wen Shiyan onto the bed.
After the IV was re-inserted, Wen Shiyan, with red eyes, used a tissue to wipe the tears from her face. “I lost control just now, I apologize.”
Xiao Yu saw Wen Shiyan’s emotions change so quickly, as if the earlier scene hadn’t happened at all.
“Once the variety show is over, I’ll immediately buy you a ticket to go somewhere and relax.” Xiao Yu said, and Wen Shiyan laughed out loud. “I’m really fine now, and you don’t need to buy a ticket. I’ll just rest at home for a few days.”
“I’m sorry, Miss Qin. You know that Teacher Wen has been…” Lu Yiran sighed as she spoke. “It’s fine, I understand. I’ll be going now.” Qin Mo said and then left. Seeing Qin Mo leave, Lu Yiran quickly entered the hospital room.
“Qin Mo is gone. Wen Shiyan, you’ve been acting a little strange recently.” Lu Yiran said, sitting on a chair.
Xiao Yu also chimed in, “Exactly, Shiyan, you seem like a completely different person lately.”
Wen Shiyan remained silent.
Seeing Wen Shiyan ignore her, Lu Yiran said to Xiao Yu, “Sister Xiao Yu, why don’t we deal with that trending topic first?” After Lu Yiran spoke, Xiao Yu patted her shoulder. “Don’t worry, I already took care of it when I stepped out. It was just a few old men who started it.”
“What are you two talking about?” Seeing Wen Shiyan wanted to know, Xiao Yu sent Wen Shiyan a screenshot of the Weibo post for her to look at.
Xiao Yu said lightheartedly, “Those old men actually bought a trending topic saying you were unfilial. But most people didn’t believe it, and the topic quickly died down, I didn’t even need to intervene.”
Just having been allowed out of his room by his father, Director Wang saw the video of Lu Yiran, Wen Shiyan, and Xie Shuyao. His neck flushed with anger as he called Qin Mo. “Qin Mo! Why haven’t you made a move yet!”
“Heh, who allowed you to speak to me like that? Why don’t you go find someone else to help you then, and see who’s willing.” Qin Mo was playing with a dart in her hand, and the dart accurately hit a doll with Director Wang’s name written on it.
“You! Qin Mo, we had an agreement! Alright, alright, I won’t rush you, but you must not forget what we agreed upon!” Director Wang was also afraid Qin Mo wouldn’t help him, so he hung up the phone after speaking.
The person next to Qin Mo asked worriedly after hearing this, “Miss, are we really going to help him?”
“Help? How is that possible?” Qin Mo’s second dart missed the mark, and she sneered as she stood up.
Inside the hospital room, Xie Shuyao stood in front of Wen Shiyan. She hadn’t known what to call Wen Shiyan these past few days and nervously asked, “Teacher Wen… are you, are you alright?”
Hearing Xie Shuyao’s words, Xiao Yu told her, “Shiyan is your older sister now. Just call her whatever you like, don’t be so reserved.”
Seeing Wen Shiyan nod in agreement with Xiao Yu, Xie Shuyao blushed and called out to Wen Shiyan. “S-Sister…” After speaking, Xie Shuyao shyly lowered her head.
Lu Yiran never expected the emotional development between the two female leads to advance under these circumstances. Although the plot had changed and they were now sisters, they weren’t blood related. Lu Yiran thought so and applauded the two.
Xie Shuyao was suddenly startled by the noise and turned to ask Lu Yiran behind her. “Sister Yiran, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing, I was just too moved.” Lu Yiran said, wiping non-existent tears from her eyes.
Seeing that it was getting late, Lu Yiran said to Wen Shiyan, “I’ll be going now. I’ll come see you tomorrow.” Just as Lu Yiran was about to leave, Wen Shiyan suddenly said, “Can you not go…”
Lu Yiran saw Wen Shiyan looking at her with anticipation, but she smiled mischievously at Wen Shiyan and said, “No.”
Wen Shiyan knew Lu Yiran wouldn’t stay, but seeing the lively Lu Yiran, Wen Shiyan felt much better, and she said to Lu Yiran, “Then see you tomorrow.”
Anyway, this time she had many more tomorrows to see Lu Yiran…
Returning to the hotel, Lu Yiran saw Lu Shiran standing in the hallway not entering the room.
“Teacher Lu, why aren’t you going inside?” Lu Yiran said, walking towards Lu Shiran, only to see Lu Shiran subtly block the door.
Seeing Lu Shiran being so secretive, Lu Yiran was curious about what was inside the room, but since Lu Shiran clearly didn’t want anyone to know, Lu Yiran wouldn’t deliberately ask.
“Then I’ll go back to my room now.” Lu Yiran said and returned to her own room. Seeing Lu Yiran leave, Lu Shiran breathed a sigh of relief and glanced at a fluffy tail sticking out from under the blanket inside the room.
Lu Yiran hadn’t eaten dinner, so after washing up in her room, she went to bed early.
Remembering what Wen Shiyan had said to her after she fell into the water, Lu Yiran felt strange. She had never told Wen Shiyan that she could swim, so how did Wen Shiyan know? Also, after being rescued, she vaguely heard a commotion. She only found out after asking Director Zhang that Wen Shiyan had hit Qin Mo.
Lu Yiran couldn’t believe that the usually composed Wen Shiyan would lay a hand on Qin Mo, but Director Zhang also wouldn’t lie…
“Seriously, could Wen Shiyan also be one of the people who knows the plot?” Lu Yiran muttered to herself. But if Wen Shiyan knew the plot, why would she be so hostile towards someone who had nothing to do with the original story?
Unless… Lu Yiran seemed to have thought of something. Unless the plot she knew was wrong, or there were others who also knew the plot. Thinking of this, she shook her head in disbelief. Impossible. She must be overthinking it. How could everyone know the plot? What kind of chaos would this world be in then?
“Sleep, sleep.” Lu Yiran felt that it was because too many things had happened recently that she was overthinking. Everything would surely be better after a good night’s sleep. Thinking this, Lu Yiran fell asleep.
“Help! Save us… It’s you, you harmed us!”
Lu Yiran struggled painfully in her dream. She felt like she was sinking into the water again, losing air. She wanted to scream for help, but as soon as she opened her mouth, water rushed into her chest cavity through her mouth and nose. Suffering, Lu Yiran reached out, wanting to grab onto something, but more and more people were swept into the water around her. Finally, she powerlessly closed her eyes.
When she woke up from the dream, Lu Yiran sat up, coughing violently. She touched her neck, feeling as if the dream had been real…
