The Film Empress White Moonlight Wants To Be A Salted Fish - Chapter 11
Wen Shiyan was wide awake. She checked the time and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Can I sleep with you? Please.”
Lu Yiran had been somewhat aloof towards her before, so she was surprised that Lu Yiran wanted to sleep with her today.
“Reason.” Wen Shiyan still remembered all the things Lu Yiran had done to her in the past, so she naturally wouldn’t agree to whatever Lu Yiran said.
“When I was little, my mothers were away one time when a heavy rain started. There was thunder and lightning outside, and the power went out at home.”
Hearing this, Wen Shiyan knew that Lu Yiran was afraid of the dark or thunder. In Wen Shiyan’s view, the current Lu Yiran looked like a complete little pitiable soul.
“And then, I watched horror movies all night long amidst the thunder and lightning.”
Wen Shiyan: “…” She took back her words; Lu Yiran was not pitiable at all.
“Get out.” Wen Shiyan said coldly and ruthlessly to Lu Yiran.
“No, please. I only did that because they usually wouldn’t let me watch horror movies.” Lu Yiran said, gripping Wen Shiyan’s sleeve tightly and refusing to let go.
Reluctantly, Wen Shiyan agreed to Lu Yiran’s request.
Touching Lu Yiran’s hand, Wen Shiyan only felt a chill. She touched Lu Yiran’s forehead and said, “Since you won’t be sleeping right now anyway, go take a bath. Use anything inside, and there are new towels in the cabinet.”
“Then don’t leave.” Lu Yiran said nervously.
“I’ll be right outside the bathroom door. I won’t leave.” Wen Shiyan said, sitting down in front of the bathroom.
“Teacher Wen, my pajamas are wet. Can you help me get a new pair?” After Lu Yiran spoke, Wen Shiyan prepared to get up and go to Lu Yiran’s room to fetch some, but then Lu Yiran quickly changed her mind: “No need, no need. Teacher Wen, please don’t go yet.” Lu Yiran then hurriedly put on her slightly damp pajamas and rushed out.
Seeing Lu Yiran’s somewhat revealing clothes, Wen Shiyan felt a bit helpless: “Why did you come out wearing wet clothes?”
Lu Yiran didn’t say anything. She completely regretted watching horror movies all night when she was a child. Otherwise, why would she be afraid even if Wen Shiyan left for just a little while?
Seeing Lu Yiran stay silent, Wen Shiyan understood. She found an unworn pair of pajamas from her own wardrobe and handed them to Lu Yiran.
Lu Yiran gratefully changed into them behind Wen Shiyan.
Lying in bed with Wen Shiyan, Lu Yiran couldn’t utter a single word. Besides the sound of rain and thunder, Lu Yiran could also hear Wen Shiyan’s steady breathing. Perhaps feeling safe with Wen Shiyan by her side, Lu Yiran closed her eyes and fell soundly asleep without realizing it.
Because she didn’t sleep until the early hours of the morning, Wen Shiyan uncharacteristically slept until ten o’clock.
After waking up, Wen Shiyan looked at Lu Yiran beside her. Lu Yiran’s hands were wrapped around Wen Shiyan inappropriately; she was practically hanging onto Wen Shiyan.
Afraid of waking Lu Yiran, Wen Shiyan carefully pulled her arm out of Lu Yiran’s embrace.
Opening the door, Wen Shiyan happened to meet the eyes of Xie Shuyao, who was peeking towards the door.
“Morning, Teacher Wen.” Xie Shuyao greeted Wen Shiyan while glancing into her room. Wen Shiyan subtly blocked Xie Shuyao’s view. “Morning.”
“Teacher Lu doesn’t seem to be awake yet. Should I call her for breakfast?”
“No need, I’ll call her later.”
Lu Yiran was awakened by the voices. She woke up and found no one by the bed. Seeing Wen Shiyan at the door, she got up, adjusted her crooked collar, and went to find Wen Shiyan.
“This…” Seeing a disheveled Lu Yiran appear from Wen Shiyan’s room, Xie Shuyao’s eyes widened in disbelief. “I didn’t see anything!” Xie Shuyao exclaimed, then ran downstairs at the fastest speed of her life.
Wen Shiyan sighed, rubbing her forehead. She turned and helped the still half-asleep Lu Yiran. “Look what you’ve done.”
“Huh, what happened?” Lu Yiran looked outside the door. There was nothing, but why did she hear a sound outside just now?
“Nothing. I’m going downstairs now.” Wen Shiyan said and was about to leave.
“Wait for me!”
Hearing Lu Yiran’s voice, Wen Shiyan paused. Lu Yiran quickly washed her face and followed Wen Shiyan downstairs.
When Xie Shuyao saw the two of them, she lowered her head and quietly munched on her bread.
“Shuyao, why are you only eating bread?” Lu Yiran kindly asked, only to have Xie Shuyao choke on her bread upon hearing it.
Lu Yiran quickly handed her water. Xie Shuyao felt alive again only after drinking half a cup.
Lu Yiran didn’t dare to speak anymore, and a strange silence returned to the dining table.
“The matter on Weibo has been resolved, and those people won’t be staking out for you anymore. You can probably go home tomorrow,” Wen Shiyan said slowly.
Upon hearing this, Lu Yiran somehow didn’t want to go home anymore. At Wen Shiyan’s place, all three meals and cleaning were free. She was surprisingly reluctant to leave.
Most importantly, she would be all alone at home, and it was still raining outside.
“My house is being renovated. Can I stay here for a few more days?” Lu Yiran looked into Wen Shiyan’s eyes and asked.
Wen Shiyan was silent for a moment. She put down her chopsticks, stood up, and said, “You can.” With that, Wen Shiyan left.
“Wow, is Teacher Lu really going to live at Teacher Wen’s house?” Xie Shuyao teased Lu Yiran with a gossipy expression.
“My house is under renovation, so I have no choice,” Lu Yiran’s ability to lie with a straight face was getting better and better. She used to blush whenever she told a lie, but now she could do it without batting an eyelid.
The rain continued to fall. In the evening, Lu Yiran tacitly continued to sleep with Wen Shiyan, and Wen Shiyan didn’t refuse. When it was time to sleep, the two of them lay down on the bed with a shared understanding.
The next day, after Xie Shuyao left, Wen Shiyan’s home became even quieter.
Lu Yiran opened a bottle of soda, came over to Wen Shiyan, and asked, “When are your parents coming back?”
“My mom won’t be coming back. My dad probably won’t be back anytime soon either.” Wen Shiyan said and then noticed Lu Yiran’s sympathetic look.
“Don’t misunderstand, my mom isn’t dead. They just got divorced.”
“Ah, I see. I’m sorry.” Lu Yiran sincerely apologized to Wen Shiyan.
“You can watch Director Zhang’s previous variety shows first to get an idea of the content.”
Wen Shiyan found them on the TV for Lu Yiran. The auntie timely served Lu Yiran a fruit platter.
Lu Yiran spent the whole day watching Director Zhang’s series of variety shows.
The programs mainly consisted of traveling and experiencing local customs, and the production team would also give the guests “surprises” from time to time.
Lu Yiran felt inexplicably excited after watching them.
“Don’t be nervous when the time comes. The director and her team will arrange how we should proceed,” Wen Shiyan comforted Lu Yiran, thinking she was nervous.
“Thank you, Teacher Wen~”
Lu Yiran was in a very good mood now; even her voice when talking to Wen Shiyan was soft and gentle, which made Wen Shiyan a little unaccustomed.
Wen Shiyan cleared her throat: “You can just call me Wen Shiyan.”
“But if I call you by your name directly, those people might…” Lu Yiran looked at Wen Shiyan with a pitiful expression.
Wen Shiyan didn’t expect that just by wanting Lu Yiran to call her name, Lu Yiran would think of such unpleasant things.
“I’m sorry…” Wen Shiyan said, lowering her head.
“I’m just kidding, don’t take it seriously.” Lu Yiran couldn’t see Wen Shiyan’s expression, so she quickly explained the misunderstanding to Wen Shiyan.
What’s wrong! Her acting skills were publicly acknowledged as poor, so why couldn’t Wen Shiyan tell this time? Couldn’t she use these good acting skills in the right place?
“Really?” Wen Shiyan looked at Lu Yiran with disbelief.
“Really, really, truer than real gold.”
Wen Shiyan remained silent after hearing that. Before Lu Yiran could react, Wen Shiyan left alone.
Lu Yiran quickly chased after Wen Shiyan and knocked on her door. “Teacher Wen, I was wrong. I was really wrong.”
“Don’t lock me out tonight, please.” Lu Yiran said, then hesitated, and finally left and returned to her own room.
Perhaps Wen Shiyan wouldn’t be angry after a while, Lu Yiran thought to herself.
Lu Yiran took the time to call her mothers. After learning that they had gone traveling, just as Lu Yiran was about to ask where they went, the other side hung up, citing the reason that they were going to have fun.
Jealousy makes people unrecognizable. Lu Yiran retaliated by tearing open five bags of snacks in the room and eating them all. After eating, Lu Yiran felt a little regretful. But soon after, Lu Yiran threw all the regret to the back of her mind and went to chat with Chen Ziyun.
At night, Lu Yiran came to Wen Shiyan’s door with a pillow in her arms.
“Teacher Wen?” Lu Yiran called out while knocking on the door.
“Teacher Wen, are you asleep?” The rain outside grew heavier, accompanied by bursts of thunder. “Wen Shiyan…” Lu Yiran called out to Wen Shiyan, trembling.
Only after Lu Yiran called out Wen Shiyan’s name did Wen Shiyan unhurriedly open the door for Lu Yiran.
“Wen Shiyan!” Tears welled up in Lu Yiran’s eyes, and Wen Shiyan’s figure appeared blurry before her.
“How could you be like this…” Lu Yiran looked at Wen Shiyan feeling wronged. She didn’t know her acting skills were this good; why was Wen Shiyan still angry?
Wen Shiyan didn’t speak and silently made way for Lu Yiran. Lu Yiran, feeling angry, wiped her tears on Wen Shiyan’s sleeve and quickly dove under the covers.
Wen Shiyan paused, then looked at Lu Yiran. She silently changed into a new pair of pajamas.
“Then I’m leaving?” Lu Yiran said to Wen Shiyan in the car.
“Mhm, see you later.”
After saying goodbye to Lu Yiran, Wen Shiyan began to focus on her own matters.
