The Female Lead Keeps Breaking Her Own Persona - Chapter 2
Curved in Gu Jingyun’s arms, Qu Anruo unconsciously rubbed against her. After failing to wake Qu Anruo, Gu Jingyun brought her back to her home.
“Jiejie (Sister)…” Qu Anruo vaguely mumbled as she saw Gu Jingyun wiping her arm.
“Little one, be good.” Gu Jingyun gently held Qu Anruo’s restless arm and patiently soothed her.
“I am very good,” Qu Anruo replied, as if to prove herself, and then drifted back to sleep.
Gu Jingyun watched Qu Anruo quietly. Her sleeping face was as peaceful as a child’s, her skin was smooth and delicate, and her eyelashes fluttered slightly. Gu Jingyun then also fell into a tranquil sleep.
In the morning, Qu Anruo woke up and stared blankly at her surroundings. Where am I? Was I kidnapped?
Just as Qu Anruo was lost in thought, Gu Jingyun brought over a glass of warm water and handed it to the stunned Qu Anruo.
Did I force Gu Jingyun to bring me here? Qu Anruo secretly glanced at Gu Jingyun, who was sitting on the edge of the bed, while she drank the water.
“What’s wrong?” Gu Jingyun noticed Qu Anruo’s gaze and looked over at her.
Qu Anruo shook her head fiercely out of guilt.
“Go wash up and eat breakfast,” Gu Jingyun said, pulling Qu Anruo up after she finished her water.
Looking at the breakfast on the table, Qu Anruo couldn’t believe it was made by Gu Jingyun.
“What, you don’t believe I made this?” Gu Jingyun smiled, seeing Qu Anruo’s suspicion.
“How could I? Miss Gu, I just think everything looks very delicious,” Qu Anruo waved her hands and hurriedly explained.
“Anruo called me Jiejie last night in bed, so why are you calling me Miss Gu again now?”
Hearing Gu Jingyun’s bold words, she hadn’t expected the female lead to be this kind of person.
Qu Anruo was so embarrassed that her neck was tinged pink.
Seeing Qu Anruo’s bright red ear tips, Gu Jingyun felt she had teased the little one too much. She helped serve her a bowl of porridge and invited her to eat.
After the meal, Qu Anruo wanted to help Gu Jingyun wash the dishes but was ruthlessly refused. She could only go watch TV by herself.
“Jiejie, I have something I need to talk to you about.” Seeing Gu Jingyun return after washing the dishes, Qu Anruo took out the contract she had already prepared from her backpack.
Gu Jingyun took it and read it carefully, finding that every clause in the contract was absolutely advantageous to her.
“The little one wants me to sign with your company?” Gu Jingyun looked at the naive Qu Anruo.
“I’m not a little one! I’m only 4 years younger than you!” Qu Anruo said irritably after hearing Gu Jingyun call her “little one.”
“Then why does our President Qu want to sign me?” Gu Jingyun looked at the already reddening Qu Anruo.
“Because I like your… your acting.” The words “I like you” almost slipped out of Qu Anruo’s mouth.
“Once your company is ready, I will sign immediately.” Seeing Qu Anruo’s earnest look, Gu Jingyun agreed.
Based on that little piece of paper, Gu Jingyun already knew the little one’s identity, the eldest daughter of the Qu family. Gu Jingyun had already been planning to sign with a company, but no company’s contract was as favorable to her as this one. Gu Jingyun decided to take a gamble on Qu Anruo.
“Jiejie, if you need anything, you can contact me. This is my phone number and WeChat.” Qu Anruo handed Gu Jingyun the only business card she had that included her WeChat ID, then nervously called a taxi and rushed home.
After sending Qu Anruo off, Gu Jingyun went back to studying the contract.
“Ruoruo, where did you run off to last night!” Zhao Lan’an worriedly pulled Qu Anruo to examine her. Although Qu Anruo was not an Omega and hadn’t differentiated yet, she was still very concerned. After all, there were quite a few bad people with special fetishes these days.
“Mom, I was at my friend’s house yesterday.” Qu Anruo reassured Zhao Lan’an. She had left a message for Zhao Lan’an last night but didn’t expect her to still be so worried.
Luckily my mom didn’t tell my dad, otherwise, with Qu Hanwen’s personality, he probably wouldn’t let her go out and play casually anymore.
Qu Anruo went back to her room, took a shower, and collapsed onto the bed.
【666, why is the female lead’s personality like this?】 Qu Anruo’s face flushed as she recalled Gu Jingyun teasing her.
【Every book is an independent world, and of course, we can’t interfere with everyone’s personality.】 666 nonchalantly ate chips in the system space.
After resting for a morning at home, Qu Anruo said goodbye to Zhao Lan’an and went to Qu Hanwen’s company.
“Miss Qu, are you looking for Chairman Qu?” The receptionist approached Qu Anruo as she entered the company.
“Yes.”
“I will contact him for you right away.” After receiving the confirmation, the receptionist contacted the secretary’s office and asked Qu Anruo to wait in Qu Hanwen’s office.
Qu Anruo, led by 666, arrived at Qu Hanwen’s office, where a man was holding a stack of papers.
“Hello, Miss Qu. These are what Chairman Qu asked me to prepare for you,” the man said, handing the stack of papers to Qu Anruo.
【This is Qu Hanwen’s chief secretary, Zhang Zhou.】 666 reminded her.
“Hello, Secretary Zhang.” Qu Anruo took the papers and found that Zhang Zhou had already planned out the operation of the entertainment company, and everything was perfectly in order.
“The company name will be decided by you, Miss Qu, and I will assist you going forward.” Zhang Zhou’s respect for Qu Anruo deepened as he saw her serious demeanor. A tiger father doesn’t raise a cub; I believe the eldest Miss Qu will not disappoint him either.
“The company name is Jing Ruo.” Qu Anruo found a piece of paper, wrote the name, and handed it to Zhang Zhou.
“Understood, Miss Qu. The company should be operating normally in less than three days.” Zhang Zhou put the paper carefully into his pocket after reading it.
After saying goodbye to Qu Hanwen via phone, Qu Anruo left the company and went to find Fang Yumeng.
“Mengmeng, I’m planning to open an entertainment company.” Qu Anruo ate strawberry-flavored cake while looking at Fang Yumeng, who was sprawled on the table.
“That’s great. You and I have the best relationship among our group, and Ruoruo came back from studying abroad with real skills. Whatever you do, I support you,” Fang Yumeng said proudly after hearing Qu Anruo’s words.
“Are you interested in investing?” Hearing Fang Yumeng’s support, Qu Anruo wanted to bring her friend along.
“Sure, but I’ve never done anything like this, is that okay?” Fang Yumeng had spare money, and instead of letting it sit, she’d rather use it to support her good friend.
“You just have to take the dividends, it’s a guaranteed profit.”
After they agreed, Qu Anruo went home to sleep.
【Qu Anruo, aren’t you going to get the female lead’s affection now?】 666 urged the sleepy Qu Anruo.
【There’s plenty of time later. Just let me sleep for a while first.】 With that, Qu Anruo fell into a deep sleep. No matter how much 666 shouted, she didn’t wake up. Giving up, 666 watched a romance movie in the system space.
“Jinyi, come and eat.” Gu Jingyun’s younger sister, Gu Jinyi, had just returned from her third year of middle school. Seeing her sister, Gu Jingyun took her backpack and placed it on the sofa.
“Sis, did someone come over?” Gu Jinyi picked up an expensive looking fountain pen she found in the gap of the sofa and asked.
“Yes, a little one came to see me.” Gu Jingyun took the pen Qu Anruo had left behind, her eyes gentle as she carefully put it away.
Hearing her sister’s affectionate term for the person, Gu Jinyi immediately sensed something was up, but she didn’t question Gu Jingyun, deciding instead to pay attention to the people around her sister in the future.
The two of them ate dinner while watching TV.
“Jinyi, I’m planning to sign with a company,” Gu Jingyun mentioned casually.
“Have you chosen a company, Sis?” Gu Jinyi knew her sister was a good actress but just needed an opportunity to show her talent.
“I have. It’s a new company, but it’s backed by the Qu family,” Gu Jingyun said unhurriedly.
“Sis, you must work hard on your acting from now on. I can take care of myself.” Gu Jinyi was happy to hear that her sister had chosen a company. Since their parents passed away, her sister had been working hard to take care of her. The reason she hadn’t signed a company before was because of her; she had been a burden to her sister.
Gu Jingyun felt she hadn’t really taken good care of her sister; on the contrary, her sister had been taking care of her since their parents’ death.
Before, her world only consisted of her sister and acting. Now, she didn’t know why, but Qu Anruo had suddenly intruded into her world, and as if by magic, she had made a lasting impression on her.
【Qu Anruo! Wake up! Your mother is calling you for dinner!】 After hearing Zhao Lan’an call Qu Anruo countless times at the door to no avail, 666 began its frantic, life-or-death shouting, almost resorting to gongs and drums.
“I’m awake!” Qu Anruo sprang out of bed, splashed some cold water on her face, and went downstairs for dinner.
“Ruoruo, are you ready to manage the company?” Qu Hanwen asked when he saw Qu Anruo come down.
“Of course, Dad.” Qu Anruo sat down and began to pick up dishes from the table.
“Don’t talk about those things at the dinner table,” Zhao Lan’an said, giving Qu Hanwen an annoyed look.
“Okay, okay, no talking,” Qu Hanwen said, smiling at Zhao Lan’an.
After dinner, Qu Anruo followed Qu Hanwen into his study.
“Ruoruo, do you have anyone you want to sign right now?” Qu Hanwen sat in his chair, sipping tea.
“An actress named Gu Jingyun,” Qu Anruo thought for a moment and decided to tell him. After all, if she wanted to promote Gu Jingyun later, she wouldn’t be able to hide it from Qu Hanwen, so she might as well tell him now and let him investigate.
“Hmm.” Qu Hanwen nodded in satisfaction, hearing that Qu Anruo already had someone in mind.
After asking a few more questions, Qu Hanwen finally let Qu Anruo return to her room.
【Qu Anruo, I remember you used to do this kind of work before, didn’t you?】 666 suddenly recalled that Qu Anruo was not a simple person in her original world, seeing how skilled she was. But why did the current Qu Anruo seem so simple, with eyes that looked clear but a little naive?
【I’ve done more than just this before.】 Qu Anruo said smugly, lying on the bed with her legs up, eating chips.
Her original wish was to be a simple, lazy person who just coasted through life. That wish didn’t come true in her original world, and she didn’t expect to still have to work after coming to this world. It looks like I can’t be a couch potato after all, Qu Anruo sighed.
666 knew Qu Anruo was capable but hadn’t realized she was that capable.
【Are you really only 21 years old?】 666 asked in disbelief.
【Of course. I was also a rich young lady before, trained as an heir since childhood.】
After chatting with 666 for a while, Qu Anruo saw that Fang Yumeng had invited her to play “Chicken Dinner” (PUBG). Qu Anruo had never played the game, but relying on the original body’s memories and her own talent, she carried Fang Yumeng to victory.
“Ruoruo, how is your skill so good now!” Fang Yumeng couldn’t believe it. Qu Anruo, who used to be as clumsy as herself, had become so amazing.
“It’s alright,” Qu Anruo replied modestly. Suddenly, her phone’s WeChat chimed.
【666! Gu Jingyun added me on WeChat!】 Qu Anruo excitedly told 666 the news.
“Mengmeng, I have something to do now. Let’s play again another day.” Qu Anruo said, exited the game, opened WeChat, and added Gu Jingyun as a friend.
