The Female Lead Keeps Breaking Her Own Persona - Chapter 14
Seeing Qu Anruo drinking so happily, Gu Jingyun suppressed the memory of Qu Anruo crying so miserably yesterday.
After returning home and seeing strangers moving in and out of her house, Gu Jinyi quickly retreated to her room. She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that nothing in her room had been touched.
“Pack your things. We’re going to the new house soon,” Gu Jingyun said, patting Gu Jinyi’s shoulder.
Gu Jinyi nodded, went back into the room, and closed the door.
“Miss Qu, we’ve finished packing everything outside,” the movers said, wiping the sweat from their foreheads.
Qu Anruo nodded, checking that the items were undamaged. “Thank you for your hard work.” After saying that, she gave the men a tip, and they worked even harder.
In a moment, Gu Jinyi came out with a backpack. “I’m ready.”
“Let’s go, to the new house,” Qu Anruo said, taking Gu Jinyi’s hand and bringing her next to Gu Jingyun.
Before leaving, Gu Jingyun took one last look inside the house and locked the door.
Arriving at the new house, Gu Jinyi stood in front of the door in disbelief: “Is this it?” The interior actually looked very similar to the home she had when her parents were still alive.
Qu Anruo had arranged for the house to be cleaned in advance, and the décor inside was very warm and cozy.
“It is. Go on in and take a look,” Gu Jingyun helped Gu Jinyi with her backpack and ushered her inside.
“The study is for anyone to use, and we each get our own bedroom,” Qu Anruo said, stretching out on the sofa.
Hearing Qu Anruo’s words, Gu Jinyi looked at her. “You’re going to live with us?” Why would a young lady like Qu Anruo want to live with them? She must be planning to do something to her sister.
“Of course,” Qu Anruo said while playing a game. Fang Yumeng had sent her a link earlier, and after clicking it, she found the game quite interesting.
“Want to play ‘Chicken Dinner’ (a battle royale game)?” Qu Anruo shook her phone at Gu Jinyi.
Gu Jinyi frowned slightly: “What is that?”
Qu Anruo handed her phone to Gu Jinyi. Gu Jinyi then realized it was a game her classmates often played. She tried operating it a few times but was killed quickly. Gu Jinyi looked at the battle record on the screen with a dark expression.
Unwilling to give up, she started another round, but she was knocked out right after landing…
“Hahahaha.” Qu Anruo laughed mercilessly.
Gu Jingyun, seeing Gu Jinyi looking frustrated by the game, curiously took Qu Anruo’s phone. After a while, when Qu Anruo leaned over to look, Gu Jingyun had already killed ten people.
“Amazing…” Qu Anruo and Gu Jinyi watched Gu Jingyun’s hand speed, dumbfounded. They thought Gu Jingyun didn’t know how to play games, but who knew she was so skilled.
The game ended when Gu Jingyun killed the last person. “I won,” she said, handing the phone back to Qu Anruo.
Qu Anruo and Gu Jinyi stared at Gu Jingyun’s record on the phone, their mouths agape. This wasn’t the Gu Jingyun they knew!
“What’s wrong?” Gu Jingyun looked at the two of them calmly.
The two immediately shook their heads and said, “Nothing.”
[Fang Yumeng]: Ruoruo, when did your skills get so good?
[Ruoruo]: That was Gu Jingyun just now!
[Fang Yumeng]: You’re not lying to me, are you! Fang Yumeng could not believe Qu Anruo’s words. This was different from the Gu Jingyun Qu Anruo had described.
After Qu Anruo’s explanation, Fang Yumeng was only half-convinced that the person who had played the game with her just now was Gu Jingyun.
“Let’s go to the mall,” Qu Anruo remembered that the bedding for the bedrooms hadn’t been bought yet, and she stood up to say.
After they arrived and got out of the car, the bodyguard leaned over and said something to Qu Anruo. Qu Anruo nodded, and the bodyguard moved a little further away from them, maintaining a distance where he could still protect them in case of danger.
“Go ahead and pick, I’m paying,” Qu Anruo said, grandly waving her hand like they do on TV.
Gu Jinyi looked at Qu Anruo like she was an idiot.
“Let’s go,” Gu Jingyun smiled at Qu Anruo’s antics.
The mall was crowded, and the mingled scent of pheromones wafting from various suppressant patches made Gu Jingyun feel a bit nauseous.
Qu Anruo was pushed by the crowd and bumped into Gu Jingyun. Gu Jingyun held Qu Anruo steady and took her hand. Instantly, the nauseating pheromones vanished, leaving only a refreshing sweetness.
Qu Anruo, whose hand was being held by Gu Jingyun, noticed that her palm was warmer than usual. Qu Anruo asked worriedly, “Are you okay, Sister?”
“I’m fine.” Gu Jingyun, led by Qu Anruo, left the crowd and sat down on a chair to rest. Gu Jinyi also stood behind them, looking at Gu Jingyun with concern.
“Are you really okay? Should we go to the hospital?” Qu Anruo reached for her phone to call a nearby hospital, but Gu Jingyun raised her hand and pressed it down.
“No need, I just didn’t rest well.” Gu Jingyun stood up, pretending to be relaxed. “Are you two still going to shop?”
“Then let’s go. Sister, if you really feel uncomfortable, just tell me.” Qu Anruo got up from the chair and asked 666, who was in the system space.
[Is Gu Jingyun sick?]
[No, the female lead is very healthy in the original plot.] Although the original plot was melodramatic, 666 did not recall Gu Jingyun having any illnesses.
[That’s good.] Qu Anruo secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
“Miss Gu, what are you doing here?” Hearing this voice, Qu Anruo mechanically turned her head towards the source of the sound. It was Su Haodang again! Why was he like a bothersome shadow that she couldn’t shake off!
Gu Jinyi didn’t know who Su Haodang was, but for some reason, she found him very annoying. The three of them tacitly ignored Su Haodang.
“Hey, Miss Gu. Have you thought about the matter from last time?” Su Haodang approached the three of them as if unaware that he was unwelcome.
“You are very annoying,” Qu Anruo told Su Haodang in irritation.
“I’m talking to Miss Gu,” Su Haodang looked at Qu Anruo haughtily.
“Mr. Su, I think I’ve told you that I don’t agree to this matter. I’ve thought it through, and this ends here,” Gu Jingyun said, her eyes chilling as she looked at Su Haodang.
“Heh, Qu Anruo. You just wait,” Su Haodang left after issuing a threat.
“Who is he?” Gu Jinyi asked, looking at the incomprehensible Su Haodang. She felt like this person was mentally ill, or else he wouldn’t say such things.
“It’s nothing, just an idiot,” Qu Anruo said, waving her hand. Su Haodang was like a ticking time bomb; the longer he was around them, the more danger there was every day. However, since Su Haodang hadn’t done anything extreme yet, she could only try to create trouble for him at work…
Wait! Su Haodang had a younger brother! The Su family intended for Su Haodang to inherit the company, and his brother, Su Haoyan, probably wouldn’t accept this gracefully. But Su Haoyan’s own capabilities weren’t enough to pull Su Haodang down from the CEO position, which meant she could join forces with him.
Her good mood was completely ruined by Su Haodang’s appearance. Qu Anruo bought the necessities listlessly, then had the driver take them home.
Looking at the spotless living room and bedrooms, Gu Jingyun still felt the urge to clean again. She instructed Gu Jinyi to put the purchased items in their respective places, then rolled up her sleeves.
Seeing Gu Jingyun start mopping the floor, Qu Anruo also picked up a broom nearby and started sweeping alongside her.
“Anruo, you don’t need to do this,” Gu Jingyun couldn’t help but smile at Qu Anruo’s serious look and told her to sit down.
Seeing that Gu Jingyun’s mood hadn’t been affected by Su Haodang, Qu Anruo was relieved.
“Sister, who bought this pair of cups?” Gu Jinyi peeked her head out from her bedroom, holding a pair of cups that looked like a matching couple set, and asked Gu Jingyun.
“I…” Qu Anruo raised her hand timidly under the gaze of the two.
“Then what about these two towels?” Seeing the towels also looked like a matching couple set, Gu Jinyi asked.
“Ah, those aren’t mine.” Just then, Qu Anruo received a call from Secretary Zhang.
“Miss, I’ve bought the daily necessities you asked me to get and delivered them to your room,” Secretary Zhang said with a smile over the phone.
Qu Anruo hung up the phone after hearing this. No wonder the bath towels and everything in her room were in pairs it was Secretary Zhang! Secretary Zhang was truly a good person. Qu Anruo silently wiped her tears in her heart and thanked Secretary Zhang.
“Since we can use them, let’s not waste them. Put them in my room,” Gu Jingyun said, continuing to mop the floor. Qu Anruo, meanwhile, watched the training videos of the artists Wang Chu had sent her.
Among those artists, three wanted to be actors, one wanted to be a singer, and one just wanted to slack off and be a “salted fish” (slacker). The last one’s dream was something Qu Anruo had always wanted but never achieved, so she assigned the aspiring slacker to be a trainee.
Contentment. Thinking this, Qu Anruo relaxed and slumped bonelessly onto the sofa. How could a young person become a slacker so early?
“Let’s tidy up Anruo’s room too,” Gu Jingyun said, holding up the bedsheets and duvet cover prepared by Secretary Zhang.
Qu Anruo got up and went to her bedroom. Thinking about it, she had only been in here twice, but each time it gave her a different feeling.
“Anruo, hold it tight there for me. Don’t let go.” Gu Jingyun stuffed the sun-dried quilt into the duvet cover. It was something her family’s maid had taught her, and luckily she had learned it. Not long after that, her family experienced a disaster…
Qu Anruo obediently stood at the foot of the bed, tightly gripping one corner of the quilt. After Gu Jingyun finished covering the quilt, she pulled it and neatly spread it on the bed for Qu Anruo.
“Thank you, Sister.” The young girl in front of her opened her lips and chuckled gently. The smile at the corner of her mouth brushed past like a feather, taking Gu Jingyun’s sorrowful thoughts along with it.
“You’re welcome…” Gu Jingyun stared blankly at Qu Anruo. Just now, she had a feeling of déjà vu, but she couldn’t recall where she had seen it before. Her memory wasn’t bad; if she had truly seen it, it would be impossible to forget so easily. Could she have been mistaken? Gu Jingyun pondered.
“What’s wrong?” Qu Anruo waved her hand in front of Gu Jingyun, who was thinking about something with a serious expression.
