The Female CEO Becomes Pregnant with a Poor Alpha's Child - Chapter 4
Xia Tingwang lowered the car window and looked back. Not far away stood two young women. One of them, a tall girl with a low ponytail, was the streamer.
“What is going on?” she asked the security guard.
“Two outsiders were trying to force their way in,” the guard said, hunching over with a fawning smile. “Miss Xia, please rest assured. I absolutely would not let them inside.”
Xia Tingwang looked at the guard. “Why did she want you to apologize?”
The guard’s smile stiffened. He scratched his ear and whispered a complaint: “They were being unreasonable, trying to force their way in and refusing to leave.”
However, an alpha’s hearing is naturally sharp, and they heard the guard’s whispered complaint. Ding Han felt aggrieved and could not help but blurt out, “He was the one who pushed me first.”
How typical of a snob, Xia Tingwang thought.
“That is enough out of you two.” The guard straightened his back and pointed at them. “Get out of here!”
“I already said we would leave!” Sang Ying defended her friend. “But you must apologize.”
The guard rolled up his sleeves. “Tell me, are you ever going to let this go?”
Xia Tingwang opened the car door. The bodyguard in the passenger seat immediately stepped out as well.
“Miss Xia.” The guard was suddenly struck with fear. “Is there something you need?”
Another car was waiting to enter the villa and honked its horn from behind. Xia Tingwang knocked on the glass. “Lao Wu, you go ahead and drive in.”
The driver, Lao Wu, drove the car inside.
Xia Tingwang slid her hands into the pockets of her coat and walked toward the streamer. As it turned out, she was an alpha; she was very tall and even better-looking than she appeared on the livestream. Xia Tingwang closed her eyes, catching two different alpha pheromones, though she was unsure which belonged to the streamer.
“What exactly happened?” Xia Tingwang had to tilt her head slightly to look into the streamer’s eyes, even in her heels.
The girl had single eyelids, yet her eyes were not small. They slanted upward, giving her a severe look when she was silent, though the low ponytail added a touch of gentleness to her appearance.
Sang Ying took in the woman before her. Wearing a beige coat with long brown hair, she looked exquisitely groomed. Whether it was her makeup, her hair, or her clothes, everything was refined to perfection. Sang Ying first thought, This rich omega is stunningly beautiful, then she sighed at the woman’s flawless skin, which seemed to show no makeup or blemishes at all.
What kind of skincare does she use?
Ding Han tugged at her sleeve. “Ying, let’s go. Don’t keep bothering her.”
Ding Han was somewhat timid. This was her first time facing a truly wealthy person. In television dramas, the rich were rarely pleasant, and she assumed someone as shabby as them would be looked down upon.
Sang Ying, however, was not like that. She never believed there was an uncrossable chasm between poverty and wealth, nor that the rich were tigers to be feared. Since someone had come to ask, she spoke the truth.
“He.” Sang Ying pointed with her chin at the guard. “Pushed my friend. We just need an apology.”
The hoarse voice, so different from the mechanical drone of others, rang in her ears. Xia Tingwang’s hands balled into fists inside her pockets. Hearing her real voice in person was even better than hearing it through a screen.
This was the first time she had ever encountered someone whose true voice she could hear. Xia Tingwang controlled her urge to swallow. “Zhuang Yan.”
Zhuang Yan, the bodyguard standing to the side, stepped forward. “Yes.”
“Pull the surveillance footage,” Xia Tingwang said. “Let’s see what happened.”
Zhuang Yan hesitated, but Xia Tingwang comforted him. “It is fine. There are so many people here. Go quickly and come back.”
He accepted the order and left.
Hearing Xia Tingwang say that, Ding Han was stunned. This is not how it happens on TV, she thought. Shouldn’t this rich person be yelling at us and telling us to get lost?
The guard did not expect them to check the surveillance footage either. He approached with his head lowered, his tone no longer arrogant. “Miss Xia, it was an accident.”
“So you admit you were in the wrong?” Xia Tingwang asked.
The guard kept his head down, looking quite submissive. Xia Tingwang looked at the name tag on his chest. “Xiao Yang, right? Apologize.”
Xia Tingwang’s voice carried an air of authority. Though she was an omega, her presence was overwhelming. The guard did not dare look up and quickly said, “I apologize. I am sorry, it was an accident.”
“Not to me,” Xia Tingwang said.
The guard turned toward the two girls. “I am sorry, ladies. I am used to being rough and did not know my own strength. I really did not mean it.”
Sang Ying looked at Ding Han, as she was the one who had been pushed. Ding Han nodded. “It is okay, it is okay.”
With the apology accepted, Sang Ying did not press the matter further. She looked at Xia Tingwang. “Thank you.”
The two picked up the flyers scattered on the ground. Xia Tingwang glanced at the words “Qingdeng” on the flyer and immediately understood why they were here.
“What is this?” she asked.
Ding Han quickly stuffed the flyer into her bag, but Sang Ying took the opportunity to hand one to Xia Tingwang. “This is our skincare product. You can take a look.”
Xia Tingwang took the flyer. The layout and production were admittedly crude, but all fourteen products were listed on the A4-sized paper, making it easy to understand.
“All the products here were made by us using pure plant extracts.” Sang Ying seized the chance to sell them. “They are one hundred percent safe. What is your skin type? Dry, oily, or combination?”
Sang Ying was speaking with excitement and was very close to Xia Tingwang. Xia Tingwang caught the scent of her pheromones; it was a refreshing, peppermint aroma.
It was subtle and comforting.
Xia Tingwang replied, “Dry.”
“Then you must try this mask.” Sang Ying pointed to the mask on the flyer. “It has fifteen percent more moisturizing ingredients than the average mask.”
Xia Tingwang looked at the flyer and noticed what Sang Ying had said earlier. “You made these yourselves?”
“Yes, from production to raw materials, we handled it all ourselves.” Sang Ying said. “You can trust them completely. If you want to purchase, you can search for our shop, ‘Qingdeng Skincare.’”
“Making skincare products is not simple.” Xia Tingwang looked at her. “Do you have a qualified and professional laboratory and factory?”
The question made Sang Ying and Ding Han exchange glances. Ding Han tugged at her sleeve, signaling her to stop talking and leave.
Sang Ying ignored Ding Han. “Not currently, but I can guarantee that these products are safe. They have been approved by the quality inspection department and are fully compliant.”
Xia Tingwang wanted to ask more professional questions, but Zhuang Yan, who had gone to check the footage, returned with the clip on his phone.
Xia Tingwang reviewed the footage. The guard was indeed at fault, and the guard’s face flushed with embarrassment.
Winter nights fell quickly, and by now, it was completely dark. Xia Tingwang’s palms began to sweat. She looked at the guard. “You represent the face of our villa. I hope that in the future, you will treat everyone with courtesy and politeness.”
The guard nodded repeatedly.
Xia Tingwang grabbed Zhuang Yan’s arm, and the two turned to walk toward the villa. Sang Ying and Ding Han watched her retreating figure with a sense of helplessness.
They were not sure if their sales pitch had been successful or if she would actually buy anything.
“She probably will not buy it.” Ding Han said. “Did you see that watch on her wrist?”
Sang Ying shook her head; her attention had not been on such trivial things.
Ding Han gave her a look that said, You just don’t get it. “Let’s put it this way: back in our hometown of Pingcheng, that watch could buy an entire house in full.”
“Oh.” Sang Ying did not react much. This was a big city; the wealth of the rich was generally beyond her imagination.
“So, yeah, someone that rich certainly would not buy these.” Ding Han sighed. “Sigh.”
“Do not sigh.” Sang Ying said. “Let’s hurry back. We still have to livestream.”
Thinking of the livestream, Ding Han raised a fist. “Let’s go! I hope heaven blesses us with another customer like ‘Yinyin77’ tonight!”
Xia Tingwang kept a firm grip on Zhuang Yan’s arm, walking quickly. The neighborhood was well-lit by street lamps, but her heels made sharp clack-clack-clack sounds on the pavement. Zhuang Yan knew what she was afraid of. He moved in front of her and crouched down. “Miss, let me carry you back.”
Xia Tingwang shook her head. Zhuang Yan was an alpha, and the boundaries between alphas and omegas were strict. She could not bring herself to be that intimate with an alpha; gripping his arm was as much trust as she could show.
“There is still a long way to go.” Zhuang Yan said. “I walk fast; I can get you home in three minutes.”
“No need.” Xia Tingwang pulled him up, clutching his arm tightly. “What would people think if they saw that?”
She held her head high, refusing to let anyone see her fear.
Housekeeper Xu had been waiting at the door. Seeing Xia Tingwang, she let out a sigh of relief and wrapped her arms around the girl’s shoulders. “I was so frightened when I saw Lao Wu come back alone. What happened out there to make you so concerned?”
Back home, Xia Tingwang finally relaxed. She stood at the entryway with her arms outstretched, letting the servant take off her coat and wipe her hands. When warm water was brought to her lips, she drank it.
As the warm liquid flowed down her throat, Xia Tingwang finally felt like herself again. “It is nothing.”
The servant checked the coat pockets to ensure nothing had fallen out, pulled out a piece of paper, and handed it to Xia Tingwang. “Miss, do you still need this?”
Xia Tingwang looked; it was the flyer. She took it and headed upstairs. “Help me draw a bath.”
The servants followed her closely.
Housekeeper Xu watched her go upstairs and, feeling uneasy, asked Zhuang Yan, “Did that person come looking for Miss again?”
Zhuang Yan shook his head. Housekeeper Xu remembered how Xia Tingwang had been trembling in her arms just moments ago, her brow furrowing in concern. The only person capable of scaring Xia Tingwang like that was him.
Worried, she returned to her room and made a call. The person on the other end picked up quickly. “Where are you?”
“Where else would we be?” the woman on the phone said with a lazy air. “Are we not being sent to the border to do hard labor by you people?”
“And him?”
“He is with me. Why? Do you regret it? Want us to come back? Sure, we can be back tomorrow.”
Housekeeper Xu suppressed her anger. “Do not even think about it! If I ever discover you have set foot in Wenshi, I will not let you off.”
