The Ex-Wife-to-Be Is Acting Weird After Losing Her Memory - Chapter 35
Chapter 35: March Six
Outside the window, silence reigned, and even the sound of the falling snow seemed distant.
The accumulated snow built up a thin, velvety white layer on the windowsill. The white layer grew heavier, and finally, with a soft “pat-a,” it crumbled under the weight, dissolving into scattered rain.
A 1.5-meter hotel bed was certainly not spacious for two people. Zhen Zhen pressed her back almost against the wall, then extended her arm to carefully encircle the person in her embrace.
After only a little over a month apart, it felt like a long time had passed. Her warmth, the feeling of her soft breathing near her ear, and the confusing, soft touch of her body that felt like it would melt in her arms were all vividly transmitted to her mind, offering a comforting sense of security.
“Don’t move around. You’ll hurt your wound again.”
Before she could finish the warning, the person in her arms gently nudged closer, and a fragrant kiss landed on her, stirring up a delicate tickle that softly spread from the edge of her cheek.
“Wife, you still haven’t answered my question.”
Lu Jiayin nestled close to her like a kitten, cautiously rubbing against her face, her almond eyes glistening brightly: “Do you miss me or not?”
The voice was too soft and lingering, easily making the last vestiges of Zhen Zhen’s sanity surrender. She put her arm around her tightly and coughed lightly: “Don’t fidget…”
The warning did not intimidate the audacious kitten. Instead, she was met with several soft, gentle “cat punches” on her face.
“I missed you very much.” Lu Jiayin stroked the face close to hers, her fingertip sliding from the bridge of Zhen Zhen’s nose down to her lips, tracing the curve of her mouth back and forth, playfully plucking at her heartstrings.
“Stop moving—” Her wrist was suddenly grasped. Before Lu Jiayin could understand what she meant, she felt herself being flipped onto her back onto the soft pillows. Zhen Zhen lifted her hands, carefully capturing both of Lu Jiayin’s wrists and pinning them above her head.
Her movements were gentle, avoiding the injured area completely, but as her hands were immobilized, a searing kiss descended, instantly stealing her breath.
“You…” Lu Jiayin’s breath caught. Her lips met another softness, and she immediately forgot what she had intended to say. Her consciousness was swept up in a surging tide, transforming into countless swirling, radiant lights.
Her scent, so intimately merged with her breath, seemed magnified a thousandfold, leaving her immersed and floating, unable to find solid ground.
“Lu Jiayin,” Zhen Zhen’s voice fell into her ear, carrying a hint of suppressed passion. “Since you are so naughty, I can only tie you up here.”
To prove she wasn’t joking, Lu Jiayin saw her retrieve something from the bedside and wrap it directly around her wrists.
It was a scarf, the soft cashmere pressed against her skin, warm and slightly ticklish.
Her wrists were bound and unable to move. Lu Jiayin could only beg playfully: “I won’t do it again! Please let me go…”
“Shhh—” Zhen Zhen leaned down and kissed her eyelids. “Didn’t we agree you shouldn’t move?”
Her voice at this moment had a strange, compelling softness that made Lu Jiayin’s heart tremble, flowing with a sweet and tumultuous heat.
It snowed all night.
The dazzling expanse of white reflected the sunlight even more brightly. Lu Jiayin groggily opened her eyes, still feeling as if she were in a dream.
After her injury yesterday, she had, by some whim, answered Zhen Zhen’s call, and upon hearing she was hurt, that person had rushed over overnight.
It turned out she didn’t need some earth-shattering reason at all. An accident that she thought she would have to silently endure until it passed could now be openly complained about to the other person.
She had just sat up in bed when she heard the room door “beep” open. Zhen Zhen appeared at the doorway, holding a small electric stew pot.
It was then that Lu Jiayin clearly saw Zhen Zhen’s attire. Under the gray trench coat was a simple black cashmere sweater, and her hair was tied back casually with a rubber band. For someone who was usually impeccably dressed, this was a significant degree of casualness.
Seeing her awake, Zhen Zhen smiled: “The timing is perfect. Come and have some porridge. The doctor should be here soon.”
Although she arrived very late yesterday, she woke up early as was her habit, and ran into the stunned assistant Ding Ding at the door, asking her to get some food.
As for the series of complaints Ding Ding made after recovering from the shock while Zhen Zhen was making breakfast, Zhen Zhen temporarily had no intention of telling Lu Jiayin. She unhurriedly opened the electric stew pot, stirred it with a spoon, and handed it to Lu Jiayin with satisfaction.
Lu Jiayin instinctively reached out to take it, accidentally jostling her right hand, immediately crying out “Ouch” and looking tearfully at Zhen Zhen.
Why do I act a hundred times more fragile whenever I see this person?
Before she could reach out again, Zhen Zhen pulled the spoon back, asking nervously: “Does it hurt badly?”
She didn’t dare let Lu Jiayin use her hands again. Instead, she moved closer to the table, scooped up a spoonful of porridge, and offered it to her: “Open up.”
The porridge was made from rice, with an egg stirred in just before it was finished. Tiny golden strands of egg floated in the rice, smelling fragrant and glutinous. Lu Jiayin initially wanted to say she could manage herself, but swallowed the words, obediently opening her mouth for the spoonful.
She took a bite of the porridge and said with a bright smile: “Wife’s cooking is still the best.”
“If it tastes good, eat more.” Zhen Zhen watched her sip the porridge, a smile involuntarily appearing on her face. “You seem to have lost a little weight…”
Lu Jiayin froze for a moment, quickly realizing the basis for her data measurement in that sentence. Her cheeks flushed: “You’re so mean!”
The two ate the bowl of porridge quickly in a close, affectionate atmosphere. Zhen Zhen then fed her some water before notifying the assistant to bring the doctor over for an examination.
The doctor was the family’s private physician. Zhen Zhen hadn’t thought too much when she received the call last night, instructing her assistant to drive back to the Zhen residence to borrow the doctor directly. The commotion almost alerted Elder Mr. Zhen, which made the doctor extra meticulous about this house call.
After all, this was the first time CEO Xiao Zhen had needed him for an out-of-town trip.
“The fall was not from a great height. Fortunately, there are no fractures,” he re-disinfected and medicated Lu Jiayin’s wound. After a thorough examination, he said: “Do not let it get wet for the next few days, and avoid strenuous exercise. Keep your diet light. I brought some medicine for bruising and inflammation. Take it once a day.”
“Will it leave a scar?” The wound area was large, and after a night, the edges had swollen, making it look particularly shocking. Ding Ding watched sadly nearby, asking anxiously.
The doctor observed the injury and said: “There shouldn’t be a very noticeable scar. If you’re really worried, Ms. Lu can go to Changning for another check-up later. They have imported equipment, so you don’t need to worry about cosmetic treatment.”
Hearing this, everyone finally felt relieved. Zhen Zhen thanked the doctor, asked the assistant to send him back, and then returned to Lu Jiayin: “I’ll stay here to take care of you for the next few days.”
After seeing the difficult conditions of the film set firsthand, she was even more uneasy about leaving Lu Jiayin here to recover alone.
“Sister, hot honey pomelo tea. I got one for everyone.” In the parking area near the set, the assistant ran back excitedly, holding several hot drinks. “It snowed again just now. Thankfully, CEO Zhen’s assistant came and brought a beverage cart directly.”
She had just placed the paper cups on the table when Qi Yongshan, who was reapplying her makeup, angrily said with a look of disgust: “Who told you to take it? Does she even know you? To just boldly take her things like that?”
The assistant was startled and mumbled sheepishly: “The whole crew got some…”
The actress’s temper today seemed even more volatile than usual.
Qi Yongshan wanted to say more but opened her mouth and couldn’t get the words out. She could only turn away in a huff: “If you want to drink it, fine, but I’d rather die of thirst than take any benefit from Lu Jiayin!”
The past two days had been like a holiday, a heavenly treatment for the members of the Dark Light crew.
Their chosen location was in the mountains, and with winter setting in, transporting supplies was expensive and difficult. The crew’s environment was extremely harsh, with food and accommodation barely passing muster.
Then, Zhen Zhen descended.
Starting every morning, there was hot breakfast and coffee provided. During night shoots, there were heaters and late-night sweet soups. Yesterday, they wanted to film a snow scene but couldn’t wait for snow, so CEO Zhen directly arranged for two snowmaking machines from a nearby ski resort, successfully solving the problem.
It was safe to say there was nothing she couldn’t think of or couldn’t do. Xie Qing held a cup of warm drink, saying meaningfully: “I’ll never believe those media gossips again…”
Naive as he was before, he actually believed ridiculous reports from tabloids like “Lu and Zhen’s contract marriage, the wealthy family found new love overseas.” He was filled with a young man’s sympathy for Lu Jiayin. Now, looking at the intimate couple in front of him, Xie Qing silently took another sip of tea.
Cheng Yan, watching the scene beside him, smiled without speaking. His young junior looked clever, but he was actually terribly slow-witted. Several times, when he innocently walked up to the couple, the possessiveness in CEO Xiao Zhen’s eyes was almost unbearable. It was Cheng Yan who had to pull him away, which saved the afternoon tea from being revoked.
“It’s a shame CEO Zhen is leaving tomorrow,” he sighed leisurely. “If every crew could be equipped with an almighty sugar daddy like CEO Zhen, I’d be willing to work all year round.”
Xie Qing’s ears twitched: “CEO Zhen is leaving?”
“Yeah, Teacher Lu’s injury is recovering well, and our scenes here are almost finished. I heard the associate director say she’s leaving tomorrow afternoon. Alas, I feel just as reluctant to see her go as Teacher Lu does…”
What Cheng Yan said was practically the sentiment of most of the crew. They hadn’t interacted much with Zhen Zhen before, with only a few main creators having met her once before filming began. They knew the young female CEO was much more approachable than she appeared.
And after Lu Jiayin’s accident this time, she dropped everything at her company, rushed over overnight, and spent every day on set doing remote work on her laptop, setting an example of the standard qualities a “model couple” should have.
“I’ll miss CEO Zhen too,” Xie Qing’s voice sounded again before Cheng Yan could finish his lament. “Since she’s leaving tomorrow… Hey, Brother Cheng, doesn’t that mean she’ll get to see your and Sister Jiayin’s ‘Kiss of the Century’ scene tomorrow?”
