The Ex-Wife of the Scumbag A Who Abandoned the Female Lead - Chapter 17
“Let me see the bite mark.” Shi Nuocen continued to mouth the words, though what she really wanted was to check her ex-wife’s gland. She was worried she had bitten too deeply before, and also concerned about other things like whether the long-lost pheromones, reintroduced after three years, might cause any unusual reactions.
“But not right now.” Ru Xi Cheng was both embarrassed and annoyed, her beautiful eyes occasionally glancing at An’an. Only when she saw the little girl was still sound asleep did she relax slightly.
“There’s no one else here, and she’s asleep anyway.” Shi Nuocen shrugged.
Later, after An’an had taken a short nap, the two adults and the child went to a restaurant for a meal. This time, Ru Xi Cheng was truly extravagant. No longer opting for a street-side stall, but instead choosing a five-star hotel and ordering an expensive seafood feast. Since the child was still afraid of strangers, they booked a private room and didn’t allow any waitstaff inside.
Shi Nuocen gazed at the luxurious decor of the private room and let out a satisfied sigh. It was rare to see her ex-wife treating them so generously. She turned toward An’an, who was sitting properly in her high chair, and couldn’t resist pinching the little girl’s cheek, saying with a grin:
“This time, your sister is benefiting from your good fortune. You really are my little lucky star.”
An’an also lifted her lips, giving her a shy smile.
After sharing an Australian lobster, Shi Nuocen glanced at her ex-wife, who maintained perfect dining etiquette, and felt a sudden impulse. She immediately slipped off her shoe, and under the table, her fair, rounded toes trailed up from her ex-wife’s ankle. Amidst the other’s incredulous micro-expression slowly gliding along her straight calf before finally coming to rest on her ex-wife’s knee, wiggling triumphantly from side to side.
Ru Xi Cheng fought back the tingling and ticklish sensations, nearly dropping her porcelain spoon while drinking soup. Once those annoying toes finally stilled, she quickly looked up at the instigator, her beautiful eyes blazing with fire.
Seeing that she had finally caught her attention, Shi Nuocen leaned in, blinked, and said, “Let’s make a deal, come shopping with me tomorrow? Your treat, okay?”
“In your dreams!” Ru Xi Cheng retorted in a low voice, but the next moment, she felt something move. The toes that had been resting on her knee actually ventured beyond her knee.
Shi Nuocen raised her enchanting brows and eyes, glancing sideways at her as if declaring, “Let me show you whether I’m dreaming or not.”
On the surface, she ate her king crab leisurely, but under the table, her toes grew increasingly bold, forcing her ex-wife to tense up to stop her advances.
“Hmm? Do you agree?” Shi Nuocen asked again slowly, retracting her toes but using the tip of her foot to linger and trace the curve of her calf repeatedly.
Ru Xi Cheng’s eyes glistened with moisture. It was already her sensitive time of the month, and she didn’t want to disturb An’an, so she had no choice but to grit her teeth and nod.
To her surprise, that person actually reached out and touched An’an’s little hand, then pointed cheerfully between the two of them: “An’an, you be our witness, okay?”
An’an tilted her little head and let out a puzzled “Hmm?”
Shi Nuocen explained to the child what her ex-wife had agreed to, then looked at Ru Xi Cheng with a hint of smugness and said, “You’re a mature adult now. You can’t go back on your word in front of An’an, or you’ll be shameful.”
Upon hearing this, Ru Xi Cheng nearly snapped the soup spoon in her hand. She felt like shouting: Who’s the immature one here, dragging a child into such a trivial matter?!
An’an chimed in adorably, “Don’t worry, Sister. Auntie Orange always keeps her promises.”
Ru Xi Cheng: “…” Sigh, facepalming.
Shi Nuocen couldn’t help but secretly chuckle at her ex-wife’s utterly defeated expression. When her ex-wife shot her a glare, she instantly straightened her face and continued eating crab, even breaking off a claw to hand to the other.
After the meal, it was time to part ways. Shi Nuocen held An’an tightly for a long time before reluctantly saying goodbye.
Once An’an and Ru Xi Cheng were in the car heading back to the Ru residence, Ru Xi Cheng remained silent for a while before cautiously, yet hopefully, asking the child, “An’an, did you like the sister who hugged you earlier?” As she uttered the word “sister,” a strange expression flickered across her face.
She expected An’an to ponder for a moment, but instead, the little one immediately nodded. “Yes, I like her. Her presence feels so comforting, just like yours.”
Hearing this, Ru Xi Cheng’s eyes seemed to glisten with tears, but she quickly turned her head away so the child wouldn’t see. Gazing out at the bustling nightscape, she softly said, “In a little while, let’s have that sister move in with us, okay?”
“Okay!” An’an grinned happily, clapping her hands excitedly. For the first time, she displayed the liveliness of a three-year-old, no longer timid and withdrawn.
When they were still several dozen meters from the Ru residence, they spotted a tall, slender figure standing outside the villa. As the car came to a stop, the man quickly approached, his eyes scanning both their faces with a hint of curiosity. “Why are you back so late? Didn’t you find the child quite early?”
“Hello, Uncle Lei,” An’an greeted timidly, her eyes filled with unease as she instinctively hid behind Ru Xi Cheng.
The man couldn’t hide his disappointment. “An’an still isn’t willing to get close to me.”
Ru Xi Cheng, however, replied with a double meaning, “Some things are simply not meant to be forced.”
The man’s expression shifted slightly, but he quickly composed himself, declaring confidently, “I only believe that where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Ru Xi Cheng felt further discussion was pointless. After a brief farewell, she took An’an’s hand and walked past him.
The next day, at the agreed-upon time, Shi Nuocen who usually showed up at the last minute arrived twenty minutes early. She figured that since this shopping trip would cost her ex-wife a pretty penny, she ought to handle the details well to make the payment go smoothly.
To her surprise, Ru Xi Cheng was already there. Dressed in a light-colored floral maxi dress, sky-blue sunglasses, and a large sun hat, she wasn’t waiting in the plaza in front of the mall but was seated inside a pitch-black van.
Shi Nuocen raised her chin, signaling for the other to come out. Instead, her ex-wife mimicked her gesture from that night, crooking a finger to summon her over.
“You’re already at the mall. Why not get out of the car?” Shi Nuocen thought, The one paying calls the shots, and reluctantly walked over, though her suspicion never wavered. Suddenly, a thought struck her, and she blurted out, “You’re not going to back out, are you?”
“Of course not,” Ru Xi Cheng replied, crossing her long legs and patting the leather seat beside her. Her fair fingers, contrasted against the dark, glossy leather, held a startlingly captivating beauty.
She leaned forward, her long hair cascading down to rest seductively on her collarbones. Her pink lips parted slightly, carrying an indescribable hint of allure as she said, “Have a seat.”
When she uttered the final word, “seat,” Shi Nuocen almost mistook it for “do” instead of “sit.” She couldn’t help but feel that her ex-wife’s gestures and tone carried a subtle implication. One that made her cheeks flush and her heart race.
