- The Esports Little Demon King Is a Sweet and Fierce Omega
- Chapter 12 - He Definitely Thinks I’m a Natural Talent
After spending the entire night watching match replays, Tian Jiu discovered that while Feng Wu played every class exceptionally well, his favorite was actually the Swordsman.
Swordsmen typically roam the jungle and look for opportunities to harvest kills, performing the same role as a “jungler” in mobile games; they are very effective at carrying a team. Feng Wu’s rise to godhood was cemented during a match where he played exactly that.
It was Feng Wu’s first time in the selection trials, yet even before the match, he had made a name for himself with his Super S+ pheromones and invincible playstyle. He was the definitive candidate for the championship. To put it simply, as long as he was there, the trophy belonged to him.
Because of this, when the trials reached the later stages and only seventeen players remained, the other sixteen contestants formed a united front. They decided to eliminate Feng Wu first before fighting each other for the win.
Yet, Feng Wu actually managed to eliminate all sixteen players using nothing but his sword and a thick health bar. In the final moments, he even took bullets from a gunner head-on, gambling on whether his health would drop faster or his sword would strike sooner.
Fortunately, he won the bet. After cleanly taking down his last opponent, he secured the championship. This display of extreme mechanics and high-stakes gambling resulted in a zero-for-sixteen sweep, turning the tide and establishing him as a legend.
As Tian Jiu watched the video, he practically jumped up in excitement, thinking that Feng Wu as a Swordsman was the coolest thing ever.
However, Tian Jiu knew he wasn’t suited for the Swordsman class, nor any class requiring intense physical combat or stamina. Mages, Elves, and Witch Doctors which required precise pheromone control were also out of the question. Classes like Gunners or Cannoneers were a much better fit.
Cannoneers usually took the middle lane, sharing a similar role with Mages, but they could also go to the bottom lane to replace Gunners. They were powerful and agile, offering a significant advantage in both team fights and solo play. Since Tian Jiu started with 80,000 fewer attribute points than others, he had to pick a class with a strong advantage.
Besides, he already liked the Cannoneer class. He wanted to be like Feng Wu in that solo match, carrying a cannon and blasting everything in sight; it would be incredibly cathartic.
With his class goal decided, Tian Jiu also thought about what kind of custom weapon he wanted Old Zhao to make the next day. But before he could even head out, a phone call woke him up early in the morning.
“Li Zhen?” Tian Jiu answered, sounding surprised. “Is this the Li Zhen who owes me 300,000?”
Li Zhen choked for a moment. “It’s me. I’m here to pay back my debt, aren’t I?”
“Oh, then add my Star-Net account. I have things to do, so I’m hanging up.”
“Wait, wait, wait!” Li Zhen shouted hurriedly. “I have something to tell you.”
“What is it?”
Li Zhen cleared his throat and asked nervously, “Um, would it be okay if I treated you to a meal?” After asking, he held his breath in anticipation.
He had spent the previous night watching the training video of Tian Jiu and Mecha Zero. He realized that Tian Jiu didn’t use any traditional techniques; he relied entirely on raw strength to control his body, which was mind-blowing. By shattering Zero, Tian Jiu had also shattered Li Zhen’s worldview.
The more he watched that video, the more he felt that Luo Yuan was absolutely nothing compared to Tian Jiu. As a mature fanboy, his idol had officially switched from Luo Yuan to Tian Jiu overnight. Inviting his idol to a meal was a nerve-wracking yet exciting prospect!
“But why do you want to treat me to a meal?” Tian Jiu asked, confused.
Li Zhen paused, scratched his head awkwardly, and whispered with a red face, “Well, I watched the replay of your fight with Zero yesterday. I think you’re much stronger than Luo Yuan, so…”
“So what?”
“So I’ve officially unfollowed Luo Yuan!” Li Zhen said in one go. “You’re my idol now!”
Tian Jiu was stunned, his eyes widening. “Huh? You change your mind so easily.”
“I don’t!” Li Zhen argued. “I just admire the strong, and you’re way stronger than Luo Yuan, so of course I admire you.”
“Don’t get so worked up,” Tian Jiu comforted him.
Li Zhen immediately followed up, “I’m not worked up. So, can I treat you to breakfast?”
“Um…” Tian Jiu hesitated. “Are you paying?”
“Of course!” Li Zhen said urgently. “Is that a yes?”
Tian Jiu said with some difficulty, “I suppose so, but I need to go to the Lower District now.”
“The Lower District? By yourself?”
“Yeah.”
Li Zhen didn’t ask what he was doing there, but frowned instead. “It’s too dangerous for an Omega to go to the Lower District alone. I’ll come to your place now. We can have breakfast, and then I’ll go to the Lower District with you. How about that?”
Tian Jiu hesitated for a second before agreeing. “Alright, I live in Meteor Apartments.”
Ten minutes later, Li Zhen called Tian Jiu to come downstairs. Upon reaching the ground floor, Tian Jiu immediately saw the towering Li Zhen and the sleek, silver-white sports car parked behind him.
“Your car is so cool,” Tian Jiu praised without hesitation. “It’s the same color as my hair.”
Li Zhen immediately opened the passenger door for him, looking a bit shy. “Right? I think the color is great too.” It was well worth the effort of staying up until dawn to repaint it just to match his idol.
Tian Jiu sat in the passenger seat. Once Li Zhen got in, Tian Jiu asked politely, “Are you going to pay me back now?”
Li Zhen: “…”
He helplessly opened his Star-Net and had his AI transfer 300,000 to Tian Jiu’s account. Once the notification arrived, Tian Jiu finally looked happy, his voice brimming with joy. “Let’s go, breakfast time!”
Li Zhen’s mood improved along with his. He started the car and drove out of the complex, chatting casually. “The Ji family gave you a settlement, didn’t they? Why are you still so short on money?”
“I’m not short on money.” Tian Jiu leaned against the window, watching the street scenes. Even after a few days, seeing people with mechanical prosthetic limbs or riding giant-wheeled motorcycles still felt magical to him.
Li Zhen realized that someone living in Meteor Apartments probably wasn’t poor; he likely just wanted to collect his debt. “But what are you going to the Lower District for?” he asked.
Tian Jiu replied, “I signed up for the trials, but I don’t have a proper weapon yet.”
“You want a custom one?” Li Zhen thought for a moment. “I know a few people who are great at making custom weapons. Want me to introduce you?”
“No need for now, I already made an appointment,” Tian Jiu said cleverly. “If Old Zhao doesn’t do a good job today, I’ll look for someone else.”
“Alright.” Li Zhen nodded. “What do you want for breakfast?”
Though it was far removed from the Earth era, Chinese cuisine had survived. Especially in the Upper District, various regional cuisines were quite authentic. At the mention of food, Tian Jiu finally looked away from the window.
He looked at Li Zhen with bright eyes. “Can I have soup dumplings? I read online that the soup dumplings in the Upper District are delicious.”
Li Zhen instinctively glanced at him, his face turning red. “Of… of course you can.”
“Yay!”
Li Zhen straightened his back and focused on driving, but his heart was doing fireworks. Help, eating with my idol is already exciting, but my idol is an Omega. This is even more nerve-wracking!
After his shyness passed, he asked a bit tentatively, “Can I call you Xiao Yin from now on? It’s okay if not.”
Tian Jiu said, “Just call me Tian Jiu from now on. Tian for sweet and Jiu for wine. That’s my virtual ID.” He didn’t want to use the name given by the Ji family, and he felt the original owner wouldn’t have liked it either, as the name “Yin” (Hidden) didn’t come from a place of good intentions.
Li Zhen understood perfectly. “Alright, Tian Jiu.” Even my idol’s ID is so cute yet domineering!
“Mhm.” Tian Jiu agreed happily; this name felt much more familiar and comfortable.
The soup dumpling shop was large and clean. When Tian Jiu walked in, it felt less like a breakfast joint and more like a refined five-star restaurant. It was crowded, and they only found a table near the stairs, but neither of them was picky.
Shortly after they sat down, the fragrant dumplings arrived.
“It smells so good.” Tian Jiu swallowed his saliva, his eyes glued to the dumplings.
Li Zhen handed him chopsticks. “This shop is very famous. It has branches all over the primary planet and even many in the satellite cities.”
“The owner must be very rich.” Tian Jiu took a bite of a soft dumpling. The delicious filling hit his taste buds, and he stuffed the other half into his mouth at once. His cheeks puffed out like a little hamster.
“Not necessarily,” Li Zhen laughed mysteriously.
“Why?” Tian Jiu asked with a mouthful of food.
Li Zhen ate a dumpling himself. “Because the owner of this shop is God Wu.”
Tian Jiu’s eyes widened. He swallowed the dumpling and asked urgently, “Why would he be poor?”
“He has to buy astronomically expensive specialty suppressants every month and maintain a team that’s on the verge of collapsing. He spends just as much as he earns every day.” Li Zhen sighed. “It’s a pity. If it weren’t for his ‘unfortunate’ pheromone constitution, every team would be fighting over him. He wouldn’t have had to build his own team.”
So that’s how it is. Tian Jiu felt a bit sad. How could such an amazing person live so miserably?
“Excuse me, sir.” A waiter approached and spoke to Li Zhen apologetically. “Could you please move your car? A lady’s car is blocked and she can’t get out.”
Even after all this time, the parking issues from the Earth era hadn’t been solved. In fact, with the rapid population growth and technological advancement, they had only become worse.
“I’ll be right back,” Li Zhen told Tian Jiu before leaving with the waiter.
Tian Jiu nodded absentmindedly. He was still thinking about Feng Wu, but once his gaze landed back on the fragrant dumplings, his thoughts vanished. Nothing matters as much as eating my fill!
The sound of two sets of footsteps came from the stairs. Since he was sitting right next to them, Tian Jiu clearly heard their conversation.
“I wonder if there will be any good prospects in the trials this year,” a slightly gravelly male voice sighed.
“Even if there are, they won’t end up with you,” another voice replied. It was melodic, yet lazy and a bit bratty.
Tian Jiu froze and looked up abruptly.
Two men were walking down from the second floor. One was a middle-aged man with a slight beer belly, while the other was tall, handsome, and looked very much like Feng Wu.
Wait, it was Feng Wu! In the flesh!
Tian Jiu stared blankly, forgetting to chew the dumpling he had just stuffed into his mouth.
Coach Zhou Funian was nearly driven mad by Feng Wu’s comment. He snapped, “Shut up, can’t I at least dream?”
Feng Wu gave a light snort. “I’m just shattering your illusions early so you won’t be disappointed.”
“Don’t give me that. I refuse to believe every professional player in the world is going to fall in love with you!”
Zhou Funian was also worried. He had been on a team with Feng Wu for five years and had remained unaffected by those Super S+ pheromones; why couldn’t those youngsters hold out? He still wasn’t ready to give up. “I looked at this year’s registration list. There are still many players who have always disliked you, like Shadow from the AS youth team. His pheromone level isn’t low either, so he probably won’t be affected by you. Should we try to scout him?”
“A first-tier trainee earns eight million a year. If we scout him, are you paying?” Feng Wu countered casually, but in the next second, his footsteps faltered.
He then acted as if nothing had happened and continued downstairs, but his gaze involuntarily landed on a soft, fair little face.
The kid with silver hair looked white and soft, staring up at him with round eyes and puffed-out cheeks. Especially that look in his eyes; it made one want to pull him into an embrace and squeeze him.
Tsk, is this kid even an adult?
Tian Jiu: “?” Is Feng Wu looking at me?
He blinked to make sure he wasn’t seeing things, only to find that Feng Wu wasn’t just looking at him—he actually smiled!
Tian Jiu felt like he couldn’t breathe. The beauty of the real person was indeed more lethal than a virtual image!
Zhou Funian also noticed Feng Wu had suddenly stopped talking. Following his gaze, he saw an exquisite little Omega.
“!” Zhou Funian was shocked. Has the iron tree finally blossomed?
But immediately after, he saw a tall, sturdy Alpha walk over and sit down opposite the boy.
Li Zhen held two bags of chips. “The waiter made a mistake; it wasn’t my car that needed moving.” He placed the chips in front of Tian Jiu. “This is compensation from the restaurant. You can have them.”
Tian Jiu was so frozen under Feng Wu’s gaze that he didn’t even hear Li Zhen.
“Tian Jiu?” Li Zhen asked, confused. He noticed Tian Jiu was staring at the stairs, so he looked over too.
Holy crap! God Wu! Li Zhen was stunned.
Tian Jiu… is that the little Omega’s name?
Feng Wu glanced at Li Zhen and then back at Tian Jiu. His intuition told him these two probably weren’t together, but what if they were? He wasn’t the type to steal someone else’s love. Besides, with his constitution, if the other person wasn’t a Super S+ Omega, being together would only harm them.
Forget it, I’m destined to be alone for life.
Feng Wu looked away and said calmly, “Let’s go, Old Zhou.”
“Wait.” Zhou Funian hurried after him and whispered, “They aren’t a couple, are they? Aren’t you going to ask for contact info?”
Feng Wu kept walking. “Since you’re so worried about my love life, do you want to be my dad?”
“You little brat…”
Tian Jiu and Li Zhen watched them leave in silence. In fact, everyone in the restaurant was staring at Feng Wu. People came to this restaurant not just for the food, but because most were Feng Wu’s fans. Since this shop was close to the FOX club, the chances of a chance encounter were high.
Once the two were out of the shop, Li Zhen asked urgently, “Idol, do you know God Wu?”
Tian Jiu shook his head. “No.”
“Then why was he staring at you just now?” After asking, Li Zhen shivered, a very gossipy suspicion forming in his mind.
Tian Jiu thought about it carefully and guessed, “He’s so amazing, he probably saw my natural talent at a glance and thought I’d become a legendary professional player.”
Li Zhen: “…” As long as you’re happy.
