- The Dormitory’s Unlucky Soul Transmigrates into the Zerg World
- Chapter 6 - Waiting for the First Meeting
The main star has no four seasons; the temperature remains at its most pleasant all year round.
As day and night alternated, the morning light was blocked out by the curtains. The chirping of small birds and beasts was faint and thin, and even those soft sounds were intercepted before they could reach inside the house. The person soundly asleep on the bed twitched their nose, rolled over, and continued to drift in their dreams.
The terminal, set to vibrate mode, lay on the bedside table. The buzzing sound was particularly annoying. Unsurprisingly, it disturbed the person on the bed. A pair of transparent antennae appeared silently and gave the terminal a push; the irritating sound was finally cut off.
Thump, thump, thump.
Outside the villa stood a handsome male Zerg dressed in a formal, neat uniform. His eyelashes drooped slightly, his gaze fixed on the doorbell he had pressed many times, yet still, no one had come to open the door.
For some reason, the Zerg’s fingertips trembled slightly, and he subconsciously gripped the hem of his clothes. A flash of helplessness was evident on his face. The formal attire he had spent so much time dressing up in this morning had developed several wrinkles from his nervousness.
He sighed softly as he looked at the door. It was still early in the day, and a gentle breeze brushed against his brow, bringing a sense of refreshment. In the end, the handsome Zerg did not manage to get inside, nor did he return to his hovering spacecraft. He simply stepped back two paces and sat down directly on the small steps next to the villa’s entrance.
As time passed, the sun in the sky quietly climbed to its highest point, and the person sleeping upstairs finally showed signs of waking up.
“Dingdang…”
Yi Xuan had just woken up, his voice still hoarse. He rubbed his head against the pillow. Still feeling muddled from just waking, he waited for a while before calling out softly toward the door.
When his voice faded, a rhythmic knock echoed from outside the door.
“Master, I am coming in.”
A small, smart household robot pushed the door open, a joyful expression appearing on its tiny electronic screen, looking somewhat endearingly comical.
This was an older model of robot. Most household robots on the market today had evolved into forms resembling the Zerg themselves, but Yi Xuan found those awkward and preferred not to use them. In truth, even this older model was far more high-tech than anything he had seen as a modern human from Earth.
“Master, here is the water prepared for you.”
Seeing that Yi Xuan was still lying on the bed, the small robot dared not disturb him further. It stood quietly beside him, holding the water its master had instructed it to prepare upon waking this morning.
The name “Dingdang” was given by Yi Xuan just yesterday. He had only just moved in, and the name did not have any deep meaning; his pet cat back home was called that. He had been away at school for a long time and was supposed to return at the end of the semester, but who could have expected he would suddenly transmigrate? Overcome by a strong sense of homesickness, he named the robot after his cat.
He wondered if he would ever be able to go back.
“Mm, just leave the water on the bedside table.” Yi Xuan muttered, rubbing his cheek against the pillow without opening his eyes.
“Okay.”
Since leaving the old family estate yesterday, Yi Xuan had felt completely relaxed. Last night, he had intended to stay up a bit later, but he fell victim to the old curse of “just a little longer” here in the Zerg race as well. He had originally planned to sleep at 1:00 AM, but he could not put his terminal down, and it was not until past 4:30 AM that he reluctantly went to bed.
Oh well, staying up late was an old habit.
And if nothing went wrong, he had likely slept until 1:00 PM.
Yi Xuan remained lying down, but his hand reached out bit by bit. The indoor temperature was kept at a constant 26 degrees, so he did not feel cold even with his hand out from under the quilt. His slender fingers fumbled around the bedside table for a while, and after tucking the terminal into his arms, he quickly retracted his hand and wrapped his entire head inside the pitch-black quilt.
The terminal was opened, the light automatically adjusting to the most eye-friendly state. He wanted to browse video websites like he usually did to wake up his brain, but he was greeted by a screen overflowing with messages.
There were the usual messages of concern from his stepfather over the last six months, his father asking if he was getting used to living alone, and inquiries from the original body’s friends after hearing he had moved out. However, the majority of the messages seemed to come from a Zerg he had never met.
Yi Xuan replied to the people who cared about him one by one, and finally, he turned his attention to the avatar of the Zerg he did not know, though he had a slight impression of the name.
That Zerg had been sending friend requests since 7:00 AM. But at that time, he had just fallen asleep, and he usually set his communication devices to vibrate mode when sleeping. Under normal circumstances, that level of vibration would not wake him up.
There was no note attached to the first request, so it looked like a spam message. Normally, Yi Xuan would not have accepted it.
But then, less than ten minutes later, another request came. It seemed as if the sender had suddenly realized they had not added a note, as this time they wrote in the notes column:
“Your Highness, hello. I am Mislert Nareid. Sorry to disturb you.”
Obviously, he was still asleep at that time. The next message came two hours later, around 9:00 AM, with another note:
“Your Highness, hello. I am sorry for disturbing you today, but there are some things I would like to clarify. I am not sure if you have some misunderstandings about me. I venture to invite you to meet and talk.”
Seeing that there was no reply, the next message was sent around 12:00 PM, which, as expected, went unanswered.
After thinking for a moment, Yi Xuan put down the terminal and slowly sat up to lean against the headboard. He reached for the water the small robot had placed on the nightstand and downed it in one go.
Because he drank too quickly, he choked and coughed lightly. Just then, the door was knocked again by the small robot.
“Master, Master, did you catch a cold? Does Dingdang need to prepare some medicine for you?”
The small robot’s voice outside sounded anxious. It was worried about its male master; its database told it that male Zerg were delicate and soft, and it feared he might have fallen ill from the fatigue of moving house yesterday.
“No, I just drank too fast and choked.”
Yi Xuan pressed his hand into a fist against his lips and set the glass on the nightstand. He wanted to wave toward Dingdang to show he was fine, but realized it was not inside, so he cleared his throat and spoke to it.
“That is great.”
“Master, your lunch has been prepared. Would you like me to bring it up?”
“No, I do not want to eat yet.”
After calming down and feeling the urge to cough subside, Yi Xuan picked up the glass again, finished the remaining water, and set it aside.
“Master, may I come in?”
Dingdang was still outside the door, knocking gently again.
“Mm, come in.”
As he spoke, Dingdang entered with a fresh glass of water to replace the empty one.
Before leaving, Dingdang hesitated for a moment, then said to Yi Xuan, “Master, a Zerg came to ring the doorbell this morning.”
After a pause, Dingdang observed Yi Xuan’s reaction before continuing in its mechanical tone: “But you were not awake yet, so I did not disturb you to open the door.”
“Did you ask who the Zerg was?” Yi Xuan asked, looking down at his terminal, showing little interest.
“Yes, he said his name is Mislert Nareid.”
