- Chapter 11 - Meeting Again
As time passed, the smashing and crashing sounds outside grew increasingly violent. Even with the soundproofing of the private box, they could not be entirely blocked out.
Although Mo Er appeared to be leaning quietly against Yi Xuan, his hands, which were tightly gripping Yi Xuan’s arm, already betrayed his panic.
As for Alman, the only Ci Jun among the three, and a military bug at that, he had been on high alert ever since the explosion, terrified that Mo Er and the others might be in danger.
As for Yi Xuan, he had remained remarkably calm since the incident began.
Before he moved out, his stepfather had given him a defensive alarm. As long as he triggered it when in danger, his stepfather would arrive as quickly as possible. Yi Xuan had already pressed it after the explosion, but he did not know when he would arrive.
As for himself, ever since coming to this bug world, he had been secretly practicing his mental strength. He had silently released his mental feelers around the private box, keeping every movement outside under his surveillance. It would be fine if nothing dangerous happened, but if any blind Ci Jun dared to harbor malicious intentions toward them, he would not mind trying the method he had just learned a few days ago to destroy a mental sea.
He had heard that a Ci Jun’s mental sea was very fragile. After all, he possessed mental strength nearing S-class. For a young, underage male bug, it was quite normal to have poor control and accidentally go too far, right?
Various dark thoughts emerged in Yi Xuan’s mind one after another.
Boom. Thud. Bang.
Outside, the sound of a massive mecha colliding and crashing into the ground caused Mo Er to tremble all over. He bit his lip hard, buried his head in Yi Xuan’s chest, and covered his ears, pretending he could not hear anything.
The sounds of fighting in the hallway drew closer. In the auction hall beneath the huge floor-to-ceiling windows of the private box, several insectoid forms of dead Ci Jun lay in the corners. Blood mixed with dust, making every inch look incredibly gruesome. The Ci Jun in the hall had long been transferred to other areas, but a few bugs were still standing there, though it was unclear what they were doing.
Yi Xuan hugged Mo Er tighter, his body tense, his eyes staring sharply at the doorway. At this moment, his mental strength rapidly converged into one point, ready to deliver a fatal blow to whatever bug was outside the door.
Because he had focused his mental strength, Yi Xuan could no longer see the scene outside and could only count the time in his head. When the countdown reached the final second, he had prepared himself for the door to be kicked open. However, the next moment, the door was gently knocked on.
?
“Master, are you inside?” The bug’s voice outside carried a distinct pant, sounding as if he had rushed here from outside in a great hurry.
It was just… why did it sound so familiar?
“Master, may I come in?”
When the bug outside spoke again hesitantly, Yi Xuan recognized him. He closed his eyes in silence, letting out a breath, relaxing his tense nerves, and dispersing the concentrated, dangerous mental energy. Sure enough, standing outside the door was Mislert.
Yi Xuan paused for a moment, clearing his throat, which had gone hoarse from tension. “Come in.”
The door was pushed open, and Mislert walked in from outside. He seemed somewhat nervous; his fingers were pinched until they were pale. He was still wearing the same outfit Yi Xuan had seen him in that morning, but it was much messier now. The fight outside must have been intense; there were splashes of blood on his clothes, though it was unclear if the blood was his own or someone else’s.
“Why are you here?”
Although he had already recognized who was knocking, Yi Xuan still felt surprised when he truly saw Mislert standing in front of him.
Logically, even if he were at his workstation or home, he should not have appeared at the auction house. He had no interest in the precious treasures sold there.
Moreover, in such a chaotic situation, he had been able to directly and accurately locate the private box.
“And how did you know I was here?” When Yi Xuan asked this, his tone carried a level of scrutiny he did not even notice himself.
Mislert’s hand, which was closing the door, paused for a moment upon hearing these words. A dense, needle-like pain flared in his heart, so intense he almost could not breathe. However, he acted as if nothing were wrong, quickly checking the outside. Once he was certain there was truly no danger, he closed and locked the door tightly.
By the time he turned around, the unnaturalness on his face had disappeared, replaced by a faint smile. He wanted to take a few steps forward to get closer to the person he had been thinking about day and night, but he regained his senses under that person’s wary gaze.
Mislert stood still at the door, several meters away from Yi Xuan and the others.
“Master, when you are in danger, your terminal automatically sends your location to your partner, regardless of whether there are signal jammers in the area. Although we are not yet married…” Mislert bit his lip as he said this, remembering what Yi Xuan had said to him that morning. His eyes dimmed involuntarily, but he continued, “Although we are not married yet, our terminals were automatically linked after the engagement.”
“After the danger occurred at the auction house, the terminal automatically linked up, sent out an alert, and transmitted your location to me in real time.”
Mislert did not dare look into Yi Xuan’s eyes, afraid of seeing that questioning look again.
It felt like a sharp knife slicing him piece by piece, tormenting a heart that was already battered and bruised.
He bit his lip and said in a very low voice, “I am not monitoring you, Master. I would not do it now, and I will not do it in the future.”
To Mislert’s last statement, Yi Xuan did not commit himself; he only glanced at him, barely managing to hold back the words, “Since when do we have a future?” from slipping out.
He felt that if he said it, the bug in front of him would shatter instantly.
“Master, are you hurt?”
Mislert was still standing in place, not daring to get closer, but his gaze began to scan Yi Xuan up and down. However, because Yi Xuan was still holding Mo Er, he could not see much.
“I am fine,” Yi Xuan said.
“Master, I ran into Lieutenant General Nois when I came in. The bugs outside will probably be cleared out very soon,” Mislert said.
As if to confirm his words, Yi Xuan’s terminal rang at this moment. He let go of Mo Er, opened his terminal, and saw the latest message.
Nois (Step-father): His Highness Yi Xuan, it is basically safe outside now. Lord Mislert arrived before I did. Have you met with him yet?
Yi Xuan: We have.
Nois (Step-father): How are things on your end? Are you hurt?
Yi Xuan: No, I am fine. We will be coming out in a moment.
Nois (Step-father): I am sorry for the scare today.
Yi Xuan: It is alright.
The conversation between the two bugs appeared very polite. Of course, even though Yi Xuan had told him many times not to be so formal, the other party insisted on his old habits, and he could do nothing about it.
“Everything is arranged outside; let’s go,” Yi Xuan said, turning his head to Mo Er, who was tugging on his sleeve.
“Great, it is finally safe outside. Let’s go! I never want to come to this terrible place again!” Mo Er, who had been staring blankly in one direction, instantly regained his energy and said, jumping up.
Yi Xuan nodded, took Mo Er’s hand, and walked out the door first. As he passed Mislert, he tapped him lightly on the shoulder, signaling for him to come along.
Mislert, who had been hanging his head, saw the signal and the awkward expression vanished; the smile on his face became much more genuine.
