- Chapter 1 - "Do you need me to help you solve this, Senior?"
So hot.
In front of the changing room mirror, Ning Qing unbuttoned the top two buttons of his military academy uniform and loosened his tight collar, freeing his sweat drenched nape. A crimson flush spread all the way from his collarbone to his cheeks.
Under the sweltering heat, the friction of clothing against his skin was amplified continuously, stoking an indescribable desire, both at his gland and in a far more private place.
He wanted to be marked, to be penetrated, to be possessed… he wanted more.
Ning Qing knew this was not his own intent, but a symptom of pseudo heat.
He knew this because he had just stepped on an Alpha lying under his combat boots and searched out an opened bottle of aphrodisiac spray from the man’s body. The product description on the label stated that its purpose was to “help” Betas enter a state of pseudo heat to better enhance the quality of their sex life.
It was also because he happened to have undergone a secondary differentiation into a low grade Omega three days ago. Having used an excessive amount of suppressants for the competition, he had built up a resistance and could not withstand the effects of the drug.
That scumbag had already been knocked unconscious by him using a fire extinguisher, but the door was deadlocked from the outside, and he couldn’t get out.
Fate was just that coincidental. Right before Ning Qing’s rationality was about to collapse, a good Samaritan happened to pass by this long disused, old changing room and noticed the anomaly inside.
The shadow outside the door asked, “Is someone trapped inside? Do you need help?”
By this time, Ning Qing’s underwear was already soaked. Fortunately, the pure black military pants didn’t show water stains easily. Even at the risk of having his embarrassing state exposed, he was desperate to grasp this lifeline.
“Yes, please come in.”
A raspy, trembling verbal invitation slipped out from the door, accompanied by a dense, rich pheromone.
Ciel took a sniff. Amidst the violent, foul stench of an Alpha, there seemed to be a subtle, icy sweet scent that couldn’t quite be identified, unlike typical Omega pheromones.
With a click, Ciel, who had passed the fingerprint authorization, turned the handle and pushed the door open.
Behind the door, Ning Qing raised his eyes to meet his gaze. To Ciel’s surprise, although the corners of his eyes were wet and red, and his tense jawline was covered in fine beads of sweat, Ning Qing held his posture straight and tall, like an unsheathed blade.
It was the kind of military knife with an extremely thin blade. His waist was exceptionally slender. Ciel estimated using the size of his own palm that he could probably span it with a single hand.
Ciel knew who this person was.
The person who, half an hour ago, had won the championship in the internal selection trials for the Interstellar League, the imperial military academy’s only Beta special admit to date, Ning Qing.
He was also the dream lover of countless Alpha students, the kind that featured in their wet dreams. Ciel casually scanned him twice, thinking he indeed deserved the title.
Ning Qing had striking dark green eyes, and his shoulder length black hair was tied into a small braid resting against his shoulder blades. His facial features carried a deep Eastern charm. With his lips tightly pursed and a unsmiling expression, he looked quite cold and distant.
Only then did Ciel notice the swollen, unrecognizable creature under Ning Qing’s feet, who had been beaten quite badly. Coming from a noble background, Ciel considered himself well-traveled and knowledgeable, but facing a face bruised in all colors of the rainbow by a broomstick, it really was hard to identify.
It seemed Ning Qing was not just a beautiful flower, but a rose with thorns that stung if touched.
He wanted to touch it.
And while he was at it, pull out those thorns with his own hands.
Ciel calculated in his mind while putting on a polite, toothy smile. He was extremely polite to everyone so as not to cause offense. “This person is… Benson, who just finished the finals with you today, Senior?”
“Yeah. He set me up.”
Ning Qing omitted several details. The matter was much more complex than that. To put it simply, Benson locked the door, drugged him, wanted to force a relationship on him, and threatened him to give up his spot for advancement.
Apart from being drugged, none of the plans succeeded. However, Ning Qing still didn’t want to explain too much, the more he spoke, the more mistakes he might make. It would be bad if they probed further and uncovered the truth about his secondary differentiation.
He was truly terrible at socializing. Even during the interrogation training assessment, he only managed a bare passing grade by remaining completely silent. That was the only subject where he didn’t receive an ‘A’.
So he could only say dryly. “Thank you for your help. I’ll be taking my leave now.”
The calves of his legs began to tremble slightly, and Ning Qing grew increasingly dizzy. The unfamiliar, tall Alpha in front of him had become blurred and pixelated in his eyes, so Ning Qing didn’t catch Ciel’s meticulously presented eight tooth smile at all.
He also couldn’t quite understand why he still couldn’t catch his breath even after opening the door to let air in, and why his forehead was burning so intensely.
To make matters worse, a trace of wetness oozed out down there.
Ning Qing kicked the bothersome guy out of the way, away from the door’s direction, took off his blood stained white gloves, and strode toward the door. To an onlooker, this behavior was practically arrogance.
Ciel was disappointed.
He had emitted such a high concentration of pheromones. According to his pheromone level, it was enough to drive a ordinary Alpha like Benson into a enraged frenzy, or make a reserved Omega kneel on the ground dripping with fluid and begging to be fucked. Yet he didn’t get enough of a reaction from Ning Qing.
Ciel had only felt a sudden impulse after seeing the best selling adult spray rolled out on the floor.
He had actually thought Ning Qing was an Omega hiding his identity.
On the military academy forum, someone posted almost every week fantasizing about Ning Qing, hypothesizing that he was actually an Omega who snuck into the military academy, who would suddenly fall into a state of heat in front of everyone, and eventually become a shared tool for sexual relief for the whole school. The commenters would then imagine how they would use Ning Qing, what clothes they’d make him wear, how many children he would bear, acting as if it were real.
As the new forum administrator, Ciel would read these threads with great interest from beginning to end, and then delete the posts and ban the users.
After all.
Whether out of personal interest or school requirements, he ought to protect Ning Qing’s reputation.
Ning Qing was literally the “Light of the Commoners” in the Galactic Empire. Born in the poorest fringe star system, his parents died in an insect swarm invasion when he was ten, leading to the fall of his hometown. Fighting as a Beta piloting a mecha, he eventually earned an exceptional opportunity to enter the Imperial Military Academy.
Ciel still remembered the video clip that had topped the repost rankings that year.
“Beep! Beep.”
A sharp alarm sound, a shaky camera lens. When the rescue mecha entered the atmosphere, the entire planet was covered by a dense, pitch black swarm of insects, with only a tiny base a hundred meters wide emitting a faint glow.
Insect shells were piled like mountains. The commander who landed there thought there would be at least a ten-man mecha squad to hold out stubbornly for seven full days without supplies.
They didn’t expect that the entire base had only a single mecha, an old instructional mecha retired by the market twenty years ago. Half of its cockpit was exposed to the outside, and its internal mental network sparked and crackled, yet it could still fire with precision at the approaching enemy insects.
Even more surprising was that the pilot was just a lean Beta youth. The bright red blood on his face made his complexion look as delicate and transparent as paper, his eyelashes fluttering, revealing an astonishing beauty.
Ning Qing coughed up blood again. Facing his rescuers, he only managed to ask one question.
“My fellow countrymen… did they survive?”
They didn’t.
Ciel had looked up that record.
The Expeditionary Force cleared and sealed off the affected area. Officially, it was announced that the entire Seventh Star Sector had fallen, and Ning Qing was the sole survivor.
Later, Ning Qing also demonstrated immense utility value. Due to consecutive military setbacks by the Expeditionary Force on distant battlefields, angry citizens gathered in front of the lord mansions across major star sectors to protest, demanding the removal of restrictions prohibiting Betas from entering the mecha corps.
They held up Ning Qing’s photo, shouting that Betas also had the right to fight.
Thus, Ning Qing obtained the qualification to study at the Imperial Military Academy.
Just this morning, Ning Qing defeated Benson, winning the opportunity to represent the Imperial Military Academy in the Interstellar League. If he won the championship, he could join the Empire’s top Expeditionary Force Corps.
Constrained by mental strength levels, Betas capable of piloting mechas were extremely rare, and those so exceptional as to step onto the battlefield were virtually unheard of.
How legendary, how touching, and how much it made one… want to destroy it.
The “Light of the Commoners,” lifted up by public opinion into the highest institution of learning, was nothing more than an object of sexual fantasy for noble Alphas.
The changing room door couldn’t accommodate two adult males passing through at the same time. At the moment their shoulders brushed, Ciel had a sudden thought and took the opportunity to reach out: “Senior Ning Qing, congratulations on winning the championship.”
Ning Qing glanced sideways at him, looking as though a question mark were floating above his head.
Ciel familiarly shook his hand. “I’ve admired you for a long time. I am your loyal fan, Ciel.”
Ning Qing was a bit bewildered.
Why bring this up all of a sudden? Besides, did he really have to stand here chatting with a stranger claiming to be a “fan” while his pants were wet?
Better not. Ning Qing subtly tried to pull his hand back, but he didn’t expect this overly enthusiastic junior to grasp his wrist instead, gently pulling him toward his side.
Under the harsh light, Ciel’s near silver-blonde hair swayed into Ning Qing’s vision, followed by a high-bridged nose and deep set eyes, resembling a plaster sculpture from the Ancient Earth era. Blond hair and blue eyes were the highly praised features of the superior race on the Capital Star.
Ning Qing finally saw clearly, this was the characteristic appearance of a noble.
Nobles were a group of arrogant creatures who believed they stood at the top of the evolutionary chain, treating commoners as subhuman relying on their high Alpha/Omega differentiation rates. If it was a noble who happened to be an Alpha, then they were hopelessly stupid, the Benson he had just beaten up was a typical representative.
“If you just leave like this, Senior, Benson will definitely come back to retaliate against you.”
Ning Qing thought to himself: in close combat, even if Benson brought ten more people, they might not beat him, not to mention he wouldn’t fall into the same trap twice.
Ciel’s next sentence dispelled his thought of forcing a getaway.
“What if I can help you solve this trouble?”
Ning Qing narrowed his eyes. “Are you going to kill him?”
Ciel brushed a strand of side hair hanging in front of Ning Qing’s eyes behind his ear. “No, I’ll use fully compliant methods to get him punished.”
Ah, so he’s just a naive rich kid.
“Suit yourself,” Ning Qing said indifferently.
He regretted it very quickly.
Because he actually had to stay behind to give a statement. In that small conference room where only the two of them were present, Ciel took out paper and pen and questioned him in detail about the details of the incident.
Ciel: “It’s just for filing. There’s no video recording and it won’t be made public. Don’t be nervous, Senior. Can you tell me what symptoms appeared in your body after inhaling the spray?”
Ning Qing paused. “A bit of a fever, I suppose.”
“Specifically where? The nape of your neck, chest, or lower abdomen? Was there any aching or swelling sensation?”
“No… I’m a male Beta. My gland and sexual organ haven’t developed, so it’s just a fever and cloudiness of consciousness.”
Then the questions grew increasingly detailed, even asking if he experienced a reaction of submission. Ciel explained that this was to gauge the psychological damage done to him.
Ning Qing answered stumblingly, seemingly out of shame.
Only he himself knew that while Ciel was speaking, similar reactions seemed to be occurring on his body.
In those places where he wasn’t supposed to feel anything.
Was it because of the secondary differentiation, the adult drug, or because of the questioning by the person in front of him? Ning Qing couldn’t figure any of it out.
The pen tip scratched softly against the paper. On the other side of the wall, medical personnel were carrying the unconscious Benson away, their footsteps messy and chaotic. Oh, they would definitely discover that guy’s lower body pitching a tent.
Finally, Ciel announced the end: “Alright, thank you for your cooperation.”
As he spoke, he casually spun his fountain pen. His rolled-up sleeves revealed a strong, muscular forearm, and his fingers were long and agile. Ning Qing didn’t know why he noticed these details.
Damn it.
Something flowed out uncontrollably, leaving him no choice but to quietly squeeze his inner thighs together under the table.
The surroundings suddenly fell dead silent.
Before he realized it, Ciel had drawn extremely close to him, so close that even their strands of hair seemed about to entangle. Ciel murmured persuasively.
“Your face is so red right now. Do you need me to help you solve this, Senior?”
