The Delicate Beauty Grabbed the Cannon Fodder Villain’s Script [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 46
Jian Tao walked in quite confidently and with a touch of pride. He thought to himself that they could not have entered without his room card after all.
Gu Huaian was the last to enter and closed the door behind him. The room was very quiet, echoing only with the sound of their footsteps. This was likely the only presidential suite in the hotel. The space was enormous and decorated in the same vintage European style as the other guest rooms, though this one appeared far more magnificent.
Jian Tao sat on the sofa to enjoy its springy comfort. Zhou Jin glanced at him with a look of disdain on his face. He said, “You did not come out here to play. Hurry up and look for clues.”
Jian Tao felt more confident now. He was not entirely useless, as he was the one who knew the room was empty and allowed them to enter easily. He glared at Zhou Jin before running over to Gu Huaian’s side.
Zhou Jin let out a short laugh but decided not to argue with him. He focused on finding clues instead. Jian Tao wandered aimlessly beside Gu Huaian. He had no idea how to find clues and felt that even if a lead were in his hands, he would likely overlook it.
He followed Gu Huaian into the bedroom and watched him look through the nightstand. Jian Tao pulled open a drawer and began rummaging through it pretentiously. Eventually, he pulled out a photograph. The two people in the picture looked familiar.
It appeared to be a family portrait. The photo looked old and seemed to have been taken years ago. The man and woman in the picture were roughly thirty years old, and the woman held an infant in her arms. It looked like a family of three.
Jian Tao handed the photo to Gu Huaian and said, “Look at this.”
Gu Huaian took it and immediately recognized the people. He said, “These are the founders of the hotel.”
Jian Tao suddenly remembered as well. Their employee manual mentioned them. They were a married couple, and the hotel had been established eighteen years ago. Gu Huaian flipped the photo over and saw a date written in the bottom right corner. It was taken eighteen years ago.
Jian Tao suddenly had a thought. He said, “The guest in this room, Xu Nuo, is exactly eighteen years old. Is it possible that he is the infant in this photo?”
Gu Huaian looked at Jian Tao with surprise. At that moment, Zhou Jin and Zhao Jingyu walked over. Zhou Jin held a notebook in his hand and waved it triumphantly. He said, “I found the occupant’s diary.”
While Gu Huaian remained deep in thought, Zhou Jin leaned in and saw the photo. He asked, “What were you just talking about?”
Gu Huaian handed the photo to Zhou Jin and explained, “Jian Tao suggests that the guest in this room might be this baby. Based on the date the photo was taken, it matches the guest’s age perfectly.”
Zhou Jin glanced at Jian Tao and remarked, “Oh? Are you very close to this guest? How do you even know his age?”
Jian Tao was immersed in his own thoughts. He felt that if he focused hard enough, he might actually solve the mystery. He finally realized the connection. He said, “Exactly. Xu Nuo acts like a child. How could he possibly afford the room fees on his own? He must be the son of the hotel founders.”
“What are you muttering about?” Zhou Jin asked with a frown.
Jian Tao pointed excitedly at the photo and said, “I am saying that the guest in this room is definitely the son of the founders.”
“How can you be so sure?” Zhou Jin asked.
“Because I have met him. He has no ability to care for himself and no parents are accompanying him. If he were not the founders’ son, he could never afford to stay here,” Jian Tao explained logically. He felt a surge of joy, as his mind felt clearer tonight than it had all week.
Gu Huaian agreed, “That makes sense.”
Zhou Jin teased him, saying, “I did not expect you to be so useful tonight. I noticed you are quite good at networking. The manager treats you differently, and you are even familiar with this guest.”
Jian Tao took it as a compliment, though his face turned slightly red. He replied, “We are not that close. I have only seen him twice.”
Zhou Jin smiled and said, “No need to be modest. Everyone, come look at the diary.”
The group gathered around. Zhou Jin flipped through the pages. In the beginning, there were only one or two sentences per day, recording dates and the occupant’s boredom.
July 9 > I am so bored. No one is here to stay with me.
July 12 > Why is no one with me? I do not want to stay in this room at all.
August 6 > The food this time is not good. I do not like it.
August 21 > I feel like grass is going to grow on my head. I do not like anyone in the hotel, and I do not want to play with them.
December 7 > I am so happy today. I met a beautiful older brother named Jian Tao. He smells so good. I like him so much. I even kissed his lips.
December 8 > Brother Jian Tao did not come to see me. He did not keep his word. He promised he would come!
Aside from recording boredom and complaining about food, the last two pages were shocking. Jian Tao’s face felt hot, and he shifted uncomfortably. To make matters worse, Zhao Jingyu read the entries out loud, making it feel like a public execution.
Zhou Jin looked at him with a strange expression, appearing as though he were holding back a laugh. He said, “Not bad, Jian Tao. I did not realize you had this kind of charm.”
Gu Huaian’s expression turned grim. He asked sternly, “He kissed you?”
Just as Jian Tao was about to answer, Zhou Jin whistled provocatively. Zhao Jingyu joined in the teasing, leaving Jian Tao mortified. His face was so hot he felt he could fry an egg on it.
“He is just like a child with no intelligence,” Jian Tao explained desperately.
“So you really kissed?” Gu Huaian pressed further.
Jian Tao’s hands were sweating as he gripped them together. He could not understand why the usually cold and aloof Gu Huaian was asking so many questions.
“I…” Jian Tao was close to tears and did not want to answer. At that moment, the clock in the room struck twelve.
A wooden toy bird flew out of the vintage clock and announced, “The time is now midnight.”
As the announcement ended, Jian Tao’s vision went dark and his legs gave way. He recognized this familiar sensation. He roared inwardly that even though he was awake and searching for clues, he could not stop himself from transforming into the rubber man.
When he opened his eyes again, he was back in the familiar setting. He rose from the usual chair and walked to the mirror to admire his reflection. Jian Tao felt numb and powerless. He asked his system, “What taboo was lifted today?”
250 performed a scan and replied, “Today, you will not have an unpleasant rubber smell, and you can control your body’s pauses.”
Jian Tao took a deep breath. “How is that a helpful taboo to lift? Can I control my body freely?”
“No,” 250 said hesitantly. “You can only pause for up to one minute when your body is moving involuntarily.”
Jian Tao went silent. His body began moving uncontrollably toward the trench coat. As he reached the rack, he forced his body to pause. He noticed that the photos on the rack had been updated. There were many photos of Li Liqun, depicting a gruesome and bloody death. A chill ran up from his heels.
Am I really a murderer? Jian Tao was completely bewildered. He had not found any trace of anyone else in this room. Li Liqun’s murder was discovered this morning, yet by nighttime, photos of his death were already hanging here.
After a minute, Jian Tao’s body resumed its involuntary movement. He walked to the mirror and put on the trench coat. He remained in a state of shock, but the rubber man ignored his feelings. It put on the mask and opened the door.
A moment later, he appeared on the stairs of the fifth floor. He began wandering aimlessly down the steps. Each time he transformed, his starting location was random and uncontrollable. He felt numb and anxious, wondering what he might encounter in the hotel at night.
As he reached the final step, a chill spread down his spine. Usually, he did not have physical sensations as a rubber man, but this time, the fear felt instinctive, as if his rubber skin could sense it.
His legs moved forward, and the feeling grew stronger until a figure turned the corner. Jian Tao instinctively paused. He saw Xu Nuo. The boy was still wearing only a pair of boxer briefs. He looked at the rubber man as if he were a common sight, not even letting his gaze linger.
Jian Tao felt relieved and continued walking. However, as they passed each other, Xu Nuo stopped. He frowned and looked at Jian Tao. “Hey, you. Stop.”
Normally, the rubber man’s involuntary instincts would ignore Xu Nuo and keep walking. But this time, Xu Nuo’s words felt like a command. Jian Tao’s body obediently turned around and stood still.
Xu Nuo studied him and leaned in to sniff. “Why do you smell like my big brother?”
Jian Tao’s heart skipped a beat. In the next second, Xu Nuo pulled off his mask and let out an exaggerated gasp. “You are just as beautiful as my big brother.”
Xu Nuo blinked and leaned closer to his face, as if trying to decide who was more attractive. “Where are you going?”
Jian Tao turned and continued down the hallway. Since he was wandering aimlessly, this essentially answered Xu Nuo’s question. Xu Nuo followed him and grabbed Jian Tao’s hand. “It is so late. Why are you not sleeping? Are you like me and cannot fall asleep?”
Xu Nuo looked troubled. “My brother changed my room, and now I cannot sleep at all.”
Jian Tao panicked. It seemed his body intended to return to Room 803. Gu Huaian and the others were still there. He did not know if they had taken his unconscious human body back yet. He hoped meeting Xu Nuo would prevent him from returning to 803, as he feared what might happen if he encountered the others in this state.
“How about you sleep with me?” Xu Nuo suddenly suggested.
If he could, Jian Tao would have looked shocked. Xu Nuo did not wait for an answer. He pulled the rubber man into Room 409 and closed the door. He led Jian Tao to the bed and took off his trench coat. For some reason, the aggressive nature of the rubber man was absent, and he remained perfectly submissive.
Once the coat was off, Xu Nuo giggled. “So, you do not like wearing clothes either.”
Jian Tao thought to himself that Xu Nuo only went without clothes because he disliked them, despite Jian Tao’s constant worries that the boy was cold.
“I will not wear them either then,” Xu Nuo said, removing his boxer briefs.
Jian Tao desperately wished he could close his eyes. Xu Nuo picked up the rubber man and placed him on the bed. “You are so light.”
I am a hollow rubber shell, of course I am light, Jian Tao thought.
Xu Nuo turned off the lights and hugged him tightly, pressing half his body weight onto Jian Tao. He complained, “My brother says my body is too cold, but you are nice. You do not mind me at all.”
Jian Tao sighed inwardly. He minded very much. Nobody wanted to sleep naked next to a cold, strange man.
