The Crematorium of the Top Omega Chasing After Alpha - Chapter 16.2
Murong Ruixue raised her wrist and entered a series of codes.
The metal door slowly slid open, and the bright light inside momentarily blinded Song Qingpei. It took her a moment to adjust.
“This is the spiritual power testing chamber.”
The spacious, well-lit room was equipped with every facility imaginable, all of the highest quality, making it clear at a glance that it was exceptionally valuable.
“Sit here, and we’ll begin the spiritual power test.”
Murong Ruixue pointed to a spot and patiently explained the basics: how to regulate the output of spiritual power. Then she instructed, “Miss Song, please release your spiritual energy. The test is starting now.”
“Okay.”
Song Qingpei followed the instructions.
“Bzz—”
A ripple spread out, forming small waves across the testing platform.
Murong Ruixue immediately stepped forward to examine the spiritual power data and was stunned by the glaring words displayed.
It was SSS!!!
The Star Alliance’s classification for spiritual power was similar to that for pheromones, with seven levels: Inferior, C, B, A, S, SS, and SSS. The lowest level, Inferior, had negligible spiritual power and was limited to low-level tasks that didn’t require it. Levels C to A could handle relatively higher-level work and formed the backbone of society.
The S level was the threshold for spiritual power, only those who reached S level were qualified to pilot mechas. From S to SS and then to SSS, each level represented a vast, almost insurmountable gap.
As for the SSS level of spiritual power, it was estimated that there were no more than ten individuals in the entire Star Alliance who possessed it.
Even Murong Ruixue, who had been hailed as a genius since childhood, only possessed SS-level mental power. She could hardly contain her shock and delight, thinking to herself, As expected of the most successful experimental subject.
Seeing her calmly observing the test results, Song Qingpei’s emotions grew even more complicated.
After the ordeal with Li Man’s test, she really didn’t want to face disappointment again.
Noticing the tension in her eyes, Murong Ruixue snapped back to reality. Considering various factors, she chose not to reveal the true test results to Song Qingpei directly, opting instead for a more moderate approach.
She smiled and said, “Congratulations, your mental power has reached S-level. You are qualified to become a combat mecha maintenance technician.”
“S-level?” Song Qingpei was stunned, taking a moment to process the information. “How is that possible?”
Seizing the opportunity while Song Qingpei was still in shock, Murong Ruixue quickly modified the test results and handed them to her. “See? Would I lie to you?”
Trembling, Song Qingpei took the test results, overwhelmed with joy and unsure how to express her feelings.
Taking advantage of her dazed state, Murong Ruixue seized the moment to say, “Miss Song, you fully meet our recruitment requirements. How about signing the contract now? You can start work tomorrow.”
“Ah!”
Song Qingpei numbly took the pen, but her last shred of rationality stopped her. “Isn’t this a bit too rushed? I…”
Hearing this, Murong Ruixue realized she had been too hasty. Worried that Song Qingpei might grow suspicious, she quickly added, “It’s fine, no rush. Let me have someone show you around first.”
Throughout the day, Song Qingpei was exposed to so many advanced things that she was completely stunned, even losing track of time.
After finishing her military meeting and returning home, Ming Yu frowned upon learning that Song Qingpei had not yet returned.
It’s already 9 p.m. What is that woman up to? Did she run away again?
For a moment, she even felt a pang of panic.
Suppressing her complicated emotions, she went to find Song Song and discovered that Song Qingpei was on a video call with her, saying she would be home soon. Only then did Ming Yu let out a barely noticeable sigh of relief.
“Mom, come back soon. Song Song is waiting for you.”
After hanging up, Song Song noticed Ming Yu standing at the door.
She blinked, looking at Ming Yu with a serious expression on her little face. “Mommy, a good parent admits their mistakes and makes amends.”
Ming Yu was taken aback. “What?”
“Mom said she hates you,” Song Song said sternly, her face serious. “You wronged her, and she’s very angry. So you have to apologize. Only then will Mom forgive you and stop hating you. Understand?”
Ming Yu’s expression darkened. “Your mom told you that?”
“Mom said she doesn’t want to talk to you,” Song Song shook her head helplessly and pushed her. “Mommy, hurry up and apologize~”
A flicker of hesitation passed through Ming Yu’s eyes.
The incident with the aphrodisiac scent, she had wronged Song Qingpei and even slapped her. She had indeed acted impulsively.
It wasn’t that she hadn’t considered apologizing, but the thought of Song Qingpei’s attitude toward her that morning made her reluctant to lower her head.
Her pride and dignity wouldn’t allow her to humble herself like that.
Seeing her hesitate, Song Song stomped her foot and shouted in her adorable, childish voice, “Mommy, if you don’t admit your mistakes and make Mom angry, I won’t talk to you either.”
Ming Yu: “…”
“I’ll wait for your mom to come back. You should go to bed early.”
“Okay, but you have to apologize!”
“Go, Mommy!”
Song Song made a cheering gesture before closing the door and obediently returning to her bedroom to rest.
However, Ming Yu’s mind remained unsettled for a long time. She sat alone on the sofa in the living room, the silence around her so profound that one could almost hear a pin drop, and her thoughts grew increasingly chaotic.
For the first time, she seriously asked herself in her heart: What should she do about Song Qingpei?
Initially, her plan had been to keep Song Qingpei around temporarily until Song Song grew accustomed to her presence, and then find a way to send her away. But now, the words Song Qingpei had spoken to her that night had shaken her resolve.
Her declaration of love seemed genuine. To heartlessly drive her away now would feel too cruel.
Ming Yu tried to console herself, thinking that perhaps she had wronged Song Qingpei. Maybe she should swallow her pride and offer an olive branch. As long as this woman took good care of Song Song and behaved appropriately, it might not be impossible to let her stay.
Click.
The sound of the door opening interrupted Ming Yu’s thoughts.
Song Qingpei walked in, dressed in a light beige professional suit, her long hair tied up in a neat bun and wearing light makeup. She looked both elegant and capable.
With light steps, Song Qingpei entered, only to startle at the sight of Ming Yu.
Her mood had been particularly good today, and she didn’t want Ming Yu to ruin it. So, she spoke in a gentle tone, “What are you doing sitting here? Is Song Song asleep?”
“She’s asleep.”
Ming Yu glanced at her indifferently and replied in a neutral tone, “I was waiting for you.”
“Waiting for me? Why?” Song Qingpei was taken aback.
Ming Yu’s face tightened. She opened her lips, but the words “I’m sorry” simply wouldn’t come out.
Song Qingpei gave her a puzzled look. Seeing Ming Yu’s sour expression and her silence, she muttered to herself, What’s wrong with her?
She stepped past Ming Yu and headed upstairs. “I’m exhausted. I’m going to rest.”
But as soon as she took a step, Ming Yu abruptly grabbed her wrist and pulled her back. Song Qingpei stumbled, nearly falling into Ming Yu’s arms, and only managed to steady herself by gripping Ming Yu’s wrist.
She looked up at Ming Yu, annoyed. “What are you doing?”
Ming Yu averted her gaze, lowering her eyes as she murmured, “I’m sorry!”
Before she could finish, the unfamiliar scent of an Omega pheromone from Song Qingpei, so close to her, suddenly filled her nostrils. Ming Yu froze for a moment, then instantly lost her composure. It was as if an Omega catching their partner cheating had taken over her body any thought of an apology vanished into thin air.
She gripped Song Qingpei’s shoulders tightly, nearly shouting in a fit of rage, “Song Qingpei, what were you doing tonight?”
