- Chapter 62 - A Terrifying Night at the Hotel
Although Xu Youyan was busy filming, she maintained a video call relationship with Bo Zhoucheng, so even though they couldn’t meet in person, thanks to the rapid advancement of technology, the video calls were crystal clear. If she leaned in close, she could even see the fine hairs on Bo Zhoucheng’s cheeks, which greatly alleviated Xu Youyan’s longing.
“The director is reshooting the male lead’s scenes, Zhoucheng, you can take a day off,” Su Cha said softly, looking at the person lying in the break room with her eyes closed, lightly dozing.
Since Bo Zhoucheng’s warning last time, their relationship had entered a brief period of awkwardness. However, Bo Zhoucheng hadn’t said anything harsh since then, and Su Cha gradually began to adapt, no longer feeling ashamed or embarrassed about it.
“Using newcomers always comes with some inconveniences,” Bo Zhoucheng opened her eyes and commented on the male lead’s many unprofessional aspects in acting. “But it seems I should thank him.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s eyes sparkled with a hint of a smile. With this free day, aside from the trivial time spent on the flight, she would have a few hours to see Yan Yan.
Su Cha didn’t need to think to know what Bo Zhoucheng was planning and instinctively nodded. “I’ll book the flight tickets.”
“Don’t leak the news,” Bo Zhoucheng stood up, smoothing out the wrinkles in her clothes from sitting for too long.
Alright, alright. Su Cha nodded resignedly. Another so-called surprise, right?
The flight tickets were quickly booked. Before boarding the plane, Bo Zhoucheng went to the mall to pick out some gifts, feeling satisfied and full of anticipation as she boarded the flight. She hoped Yan Yan would be happy to see her.
Bo Zhoucheng couldn’t help but purse her lips, a smile bubbling up in her heart.
Xu Youyan had been busy filming all day and had just returned to the hotel. She didn’t feel like doing anything and collapsed onto the sofa like a soft sponge. She reached for her phone, hesitating whether to call Bo Zhoucheng.
Would it be too early to call now? Usually, they called after the other had finished filming.
After wrestling with the thought for a long time, Xu Youyan put down her phone and sighed. Only being in a relationship could bring such worries. Normally, she wouldn’t overthink it if she wanted to call, she’d just call.
Cheng Zhun had gone out to buy things for Xu Youyan, so she wasn’t around to attend to her. The hotel room was utterly silent, except for Xu Youyan’s soft, shallow sighs.
Just then, the door handle turned, as if someone had pushed it open.
“Back so soon?” Xu Youyan didn’t look up, instinctively thinking it was Cheng Zhun, since aside from her assistant, no one else had the keycard to her room.
But the person who entered didn’t respond. Xu Youyan put down her phone and looked up, only to see an unfamiliar face a man wearing sunglasses.
“Who are you?” Xu Youyan’s heart inexplicably panicked. The next moment, two people approached her.
“You shouldn’t be with someone who doesn’t deserve you,” the man said, gripping Xu Youyan’s wrist with a force like iron pliers.
“What’s it to you? You’re trespassing in my room. If you don’t leave, I’ll call security!”
The man frowned. As Xu Youyan reached for her phone, she suddenly felt a sharp pain at the back of her neck, and her vision blurred as she lost consciousness.
She had let her guard down there were two people in the room.
In the last moment before passing out, Xu Youyan realized her phone was picked up by two men who were using her fingerprint to unlock it.
“No…”
Xu Youyan barely managed to utter a faint sound before she completely fell into darkness.
When she woke up again, the back of her neck was burning with pain, and she could hear the two men talking beside her.
“Is the recording ready?”
“Ready.”
“Good. Young Master Zhou is paying a hefty price. Although we’ll offend the Bo family because of this, we’ll still make a profit.”
Their conversation was intermittent. Xu Youyan discovered her hands were tied, and one of them was fiddling with a tripod, preparing to set up a camera.
“Once we record the video, this guy will probably have to obey Young Master Zhou’s orders.”
Their conversation continued, laced with a hint of contempt.
But at that moment, Xu Youyan had already quietly slipped off the bed. Although her hands were tied, she could still grab things.
She scanned the room and spotted a lamp. Without hesitation, she yanked it off and smashed it directly onto the man adjusting the tripod.
“Ah!”
The man let out a pained cry. As the other turned around, Xu Youyan decisively kicked him and then bolted without looking back.
Instinctively, Xu Youyan wanted to escape through the door.
But it suddenly occurred to her that since these two men had managed to enter through the hotel door, there must be something fishy going on. So she quickly changed her mind.
She turned and hid in the bathroom, where there was a small cabinet used for storing towels.
It might be a tight squeeze for most people, but Xu Youyan, being slender, managed to cram herself inside and closed the cabinet door.
Soon, footsteps could be heard outside.
“That guy got away! Hurry up and find her!”
Panicked footsteps rushed out. Xu Youyan could only pray silently that Cheng Zhun would return soon.
Her heart was pounding so hard it felt like it might leap out of her chest.
After what felt like an eternity, the room fell silent, and all she could hear was the sound of her own heartbeat. Her legs had gone numb, but she didn’t dare come out.
Suddenly, the bathroom door opened.
Had those people come back?
Xu Youyan held her breath in fear, praying she wouldn’t be discovered. Then, she heard the footsteps drawing closer.
This is bad,
She should have escaped earlier. Xu Youyan was consumed by endless regret.
She had no idea where her phone had been tossed by those two men. At this moment, she truly felt helpless and abandoned.
The cabinet door was pulled open, and the bathroom light streamed inside.
“Yanyan, what are you doing here?”
Bo Zhoucheng’s gentle voice sounded, tinged with surprise.
Her gaze then shifted downward and noticed Xu Youyan’s hands bound with tape. Bo Zhoucheng’s eyes deepened with meaning, it was clear Xu Youyan couldn’t have done this alone.
“I came up with Cheng Zhun, but I didn’t see you in the living room.”
Bo Zhoucheng crouched down, intending to help her out, only to find Xu Youyan trembling, her pupils dilated, clearly frightened.
“I thought you had gone to the bedroom to sleep.”
“Can you tell me what happened?”
Xu Youyan nodded, and only then did Bo Zhoucheng carefully peel off the tape.
“Someone came for me, They knocked me out.”
“They wanted to threaten me into breaking up with you.”
Xu Youyan didn’t know why Bo Zhoucheng had come, but the dangerous sense of helplessness she had felt moments earlier vanished without a trace.
All that remained in her heart was relief. She clung tightly to Bo Zhoucheng, like a drowning person clutching a life-saving straw.
