The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 47
The other woman’s expression was stern, her delicate eyebrows tightly furrowed, and only when she looked at Xu Youyan did a hint of gentleness surface.
“Bo Zhoucheng.”
Xu Youyan’s lips trembled slightly, and then, as if overwhelmed by immense grievance, she threw herself directly into Bo Zhoucheng’s embrace.
That cool fragrance no longer carried its usual sense of distance; instead, it felt comforting.
As her nose brushed against softness, Xu Youyan couldn’t help but press closer, her entire being like a frightened little animal, desperate to bury her head in her owner’s arms.
“It’s alright, I’m here.”
Bo Zhoucheng wrapped her arms around the other woman, then lifted her gaze, sweeping a cold glare across everyone at the table.
Especially that murderous glare, which landed squarely on the director, making him too afraid to even breathe.
“I heard some things on my way here.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s tone was icy; aside from Xu Youyan, she showed no warmth to anyone present.
But it had to be said she had the capital and the power to do so.
“A film that relies on such despicable methods to cast actors is not something we need.”
This was a direct and blatant confrontation. The furious executives from Huanxin stood up, but Bo Zhoucheng showed not a trace of fear.
“Calm down.”
“Her father is Chairman Bo.”
Seeing that no one dared to speak, Bo Zhoucheng simply took Xu Youyan and walked out.
“It’s alright now.”
Inside the elevator, Bo Zhoucheng cupped Xu Youyan’s face, trying to soothe the trembling woman in her arms.
“That director.”
Xu Youyan’s voice quivered, but she couldn’t finish her sentence, burying herself instead in Bo Zhoucheng’s embrace.
“I know you have some history with him.”
“Yanyan, I don’t care about that.”
Bo Zhoucheng gently patted Xu Youyan’s back as the latter’s voice choked with sobs.
“He almost succeeded.”
“If Cheng Zhun hadn’t opened the door back then.”
It was a terrible memory, one that Xu Youyan never wanted to recall again.
“Huanxin brought you to a place like this they have no respect for you.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s voice was laced with suppressed anger.
But in her heart, a plan was brewing. She intended to pull Xu Youyan out of the company, even if it meant paying an astronomical penalty for breach of contract.
She couldn’t bear to let her beloved Yanyan stay in this wretched quagmire for even a moment longer.
Bo Zhoucheng brought her back to the apartment. The moment the door closed, Xu Youyan eagerly leaned in, wrapping her arms around Bo Zhoucheng’s slender yet strong waist.
“Bo Zhoucheng.”
“I only like you. I don’t want someone like that, such an ugly old man.”
Tears still clung to Xu Youyan’s lashes, making her look pitiful and heart-wrenching.
“I know.”
Bo Zhoucheng allowed herself to be held, nodding gently as she comforted her in a soft voice.
“He touched my hand earlier.”
Xu Youyan lifted her wrist, which was already red from her scrubbing. Her body trembled, and when she looked at her wrist, there was even a hint of disgust in her eyes.
As if she didn’t even want that hand anymore.
“I’ll make him pay. Someone like him is nothing but a scourge in this industry.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s gaze darkened. She reached out, took Xu Youyan’s wrist, and gently caressed it before pressing her soft lips against the skin.
“There, I’ve disinfected it for you.”
Xu Youyan chuckled softly, never expecting Bo Zhoucheng would coax her in such a childish way, yet she couldn’t deny it warmed her heart a little.
“A bath will make you feel cleaner.”
After saying this, Bo Zhoucheng led her to the bathroom. The showerhead was turned on, steam rising around them. Her voice was gentle as she spoke, not probing into the specifics of what had happened at the gathering earlier. She didn’t ask what that director had done either.
Instead, she patiently washed Xu Youyan’s hair. When she applied the shower gel to her wrists, she scrubbed a little harder.
“Aren’t you going to ask what happened earlier?”
Xu Youyan looked at the person before her. Bo Zhoucheng’s cheeks were flushed from the steam in the bathroom, like a beauty slightly intoxicated. Yet here this stunning woman was, meticulously scrubbing her back.
“You can tell me if you want to.”
Bo Zhoucheng lifted her gaze to meet Xu Youyan’s eyes. If Yan Yan didn’t want to talk about it, she wouldn’t press. Unpleasant things, once they happened, were best left in the past. Bringing them up again would only cause further hurt.
“I don’t know what they meant by inviting that director… Back when I was filming, he tricked me. He said he’d only give me the role of the second female lead if I slept with him.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s fingers stilled for a moment.
She had only known that Xu Youyan had a past conflict with that director something widely known in the industry. That director had criticized Xu Youyan numerous times on variety shows and interviews, calling her a vase actress and saying she was arrogant.
Xu Youyan lowered her head, her shoulders trembling once again.
“That’s why I was so scared… because last time, he almost succeeded.”
Hearing this, Bo Zhoucheng could no longer maintain her calm facade. A fire ignited within her, but she couldn’t let it show in front of Yan Yan.
Her voice remained soft, gentle as a breeze that couldn’t even disturb a dandelion.
“It’s alright now. I’m here with you.”
“If that old man dares to come near you again, I’ll have someone beat his eyes out.”
Xu Youyan instinctively tightened her arms around the person beside her, nodding obediently.
“I believe you.”
Bo Zhoucheng had the capability to do so. Even when filming, she could wield a real sword weighing over ten pounds effortlessly—unlike Xu Youyan, who struggled even with a prop sword.
After finishing their bath, the two returned to the bedroom.
Bo Zhoucheng had just finished blow-drying Xu Youyan’s hair and hadn’t even set the hairdryer aside when Xu Youyan turned to face her.
“Can we… today?”
Her question was cautious, unlike her usual proud and dazzling self.
Bo Zhoucheng understood why Xu Youyan was acting this way. A frightened pet often seeks comfort from its owner it was a perfectly natural reaction.
“Yes.”
She agreed without hesitation. After all, her schedule had been cleared for the next few days. She had originally thought they could go on a trip together, but now.
Staying home was just as good.
Overjoyed, Xu Youyan wrapped her arms tightly around Bo Zhoucheng.
“I knew it… You’re different from everyone else, Bo Zhoucheng. You treat me the best.”
Xu Youyan’s voice was soft and sweet, clinging to her in a way she never had before.
Bo Zhoucheng gently patted Xu Youyan’s back, allowing herself to lie down.
Xu Youyan wasn’t in a hurry, taking her time, but perhaps because of the earlier scare, her body still trembled slightly and felt weak.
“Let me.”
Seeing her like this, Bo Zhoucheng knew Xu Youyan might not be up to it, so she propped herself up with her hands and sat up.
“Sorry!”
“I was just too scared today.”
Xu Youyan’s ears flushed slightly red.
Bo Zhoucheng remained much calmer, knowing how to guide the situation, but…
Just then, a sudden, urgent phone ringtone interrupted the two. Xu Youyan was visibly displeased and, without even glancing at the screen, hung up the call immediately.
“Let’s continue.”
She brushed her long hair aside and leaned in again, pressing her forehead against Bo Zhoucheng’s.
Before Bo Zhoucheng could say a word, the phone rang once more.
