The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 4
The two had been in love for a long time, but for the sake of their respective careers, they had never made it public. However, not doing so didn’t mean they didn’t miss each other.
Bo Zhoucheng had plans to change that, so she decided to give her fans a heads-up first.
In her hand was the script for a dating show five men and five women. Generally, such shows didn’t attract big-name celebrities.
After all, romantic scandals could be detrimental to any actress on the rise.
Bo Zhoucheng wanted to participate in the show with Xu Youyan.
It was, in essence, a traditional way of creating a CP buzz.
However, the person she’d be paired with wasn’t just for popularity or clout, it was her real lover.
“I want to marry you.”
“As for what you said.”
Bo Zhoucheng glanced at the driver, then leaned in closer, her red lips brushing against Xu Youyan’s ear, making it tingle.
“It was always you clinging to me. I can’t remember clearly.”
Xu Youyan’s face flushed with embarrassment, and she nearly bit her tongue, her words stumbling.
“How could that be?”
“I’m not that kind of.”
She couldn’t find the right words halfway through.
Bo Zhoucheng chuckled softly, reaching out to ruffle Xu Youyan’s hair before handing her the script.
“Can you still read the words when you’re drunk?”
Xu Youyan lowered her head, only to see the letters dancing before her eyes, so she shook her head.
“What is it?”
“An invitation for a variety show, but I reached out to them first.”
Bo Zhoucheng held Xu Youyan’s hand tightly, making her vow.
“I promised you I would announce our relationship to everyone.”
“This is a good stage to start with.”
Xu Youyan blinked, her drunkenness fading slightly as she shook her head.
“No!”
“No to what?”
Bo Zhoucheng didn’t understand, leaning in even closer. Xu Youyan could smell the faint woody scent of her perfume, slightly spicy but not overpowering.
“I want to take it slow before going public.”
Xu Youyan wasn’t ready yet. After all, this was her twenty-year-old self, the version of her that disliked Bo Zhoucheng the most.
“I didn’t say we’d announce it right away.”
Bo Zhoucheng nodded, but the strange feeling in her heart grew stronger.
She reached out, gently lifting Xu Youyan’s chin with her fingertips, studying her carefully. The weariness and lethargy in Xu Youyan’s eyes had vanished.
Replaced by passion and vitality.
Xu Youyan had changed. Bo Zhoucheng was almost certain of it. She couldn’t help but pinch Xu Youyan’s cheek to confirm it wasn’t a mask, then tapped the tip of her nose, it didn’t collapse. It was real, not surgically altered.
The face was the same, but the person seemed entirely different.
In the past, when Yan Yan was drunk, she would only cling to her, wrap her arms around her waist, and whine softly like a kitten.
“Sister, I want more.”
But now, Yan Yan seemed to be avoiding her at every turn.
A terrifying thought suddenly crossed Bo Zhoucheng’s mind, the seven-year itch. Could it be that she no longer loved her?
Only a lack of love could manifest so clearly.
“That’s good then.”
Xu Youyan nodded, finally feeling relieved.
Having drunk alcohol, she soon drifted into sleep. When Bo Zhoucheng got out of the car, she carried her all the way back to the apartment.
Bo Zhoucheng gazed at her sleeping face.
She remembered how, years ago, Xu Youyan had stood outside her hotel all night just to pursue her.
Could people’s hearts change so easily?
Bo Zhoucheng felt a pang of sorrow. She leaned in, pressing their foreheads together.
“Even if you change your heart, I won’t let you go, because when you pursued me, you made a vow.”
When Xu Youyan woke up, her head was throbbing.
She regretted drinking so much again. Last time she drank too much, she ended up crossing over into this world; this time, she just ended up with a headache.
It seemed it was time to cut back on alcohol.
As she got out of bed, Bo Zhoucheng was sitting in the living room. The table was set with breakfast, and Bo Zhoucheng was reading a newspaper.
A pair of delicate gold-rimmed glasses rested on the bridge of her nose, and the tear mole beside her nostril gave off an air of restraint. Since she wasn’t wearing socks, her porcelain-white ankles peeked out from her slippers.
Her loungewear had a deep V-neck, making it somewhat embarrassing to look at.
Xu Youyan coughed and walked over.
“Your breakfast is on the table.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s voice was cool. Xu Youyan slowly finished her meal and only then noticed some documents on the table.
She walked over and saw an invitation to a dating show.
Her name was on it. Xu Youyan lowered her gaze to read it, and Bo Zhoucheng set down the newspaper.
She wrapped her arms around Xu Youyan from behind and asked in a negotiating tone,
“What do you think?”
“Shall we go together?”
Xu Youyan’s heart was tangled and hesitant, but in the end, she nodded in agreement.
Because she noticed a long scar on the arm wrapped around her waist. Though not very noticeable, it was clearly visible up close.
It must have been from the car accident.
She was the one who had crossed over, but Bo Zhoucheng hadn’t. Bo Zhoucheng was the one who had genuinely spent five years in a relationship with her.
If she kept acting like a stranger, Xu Youyan couldn’t get past the guilt in her heart, it felt too much like being a scumbag.
“Mm.”
She nodded.
Bo Zhoucheng smiled, her voice carrying a hint of choked emotion.
“I knew it. You actually want this too, don’t you?”
Plenty of celebrities in their thirties were married, in love, and had children. How could the two of them not yearn for their fans’ blessings?
Overjoyed, Bo Zhoucheng momentarily forgot herself. She lowered her head, her cool lips pressing against Xu Youyan’s slender neck.
Her arms tightened even more. Xu Youyan felt that if she didn’t move soon, she would surely be devoured.
Just as Bo Zhoucheng was about to take things further, she suddenly paused. She noticed that Xu Youyan’s body was trembling.
Though it was subtle, it didn’t escape the notice of the seasoned actress.
Acting required keen observation, and Bo Zhoucheng had learned from a young age to observe people’s words and actions for imitation practice.
So, even the slightest movement from Xu Youyan couldn’t escape her notice.
“You’re trembling?”
Bo Zhoucheng stopped, a wave of overwhelming discomfort washing over her. Had the other person grown weary of her touch?
“I’m not.”
Xu Youyan wore an expression of defiance.
She looked up at Bo Zhoucheng, unable to believe that she was the one being controlled.
“Why?”
“Tell me the reason, Yanyan.”
Bo Zhoucheng suddenly moved closer, cupping Xu Youyan’s face in her hands.
Where was the aloof demeanor Bo Zhoucheng displayed in front of others now?
She was just like countless other infatuated women in the world, fallen into an abyss, unable to escape.
“I’m just a little nervous…”
Xu Youyan wasn’t the thirty-year-old version of herself, thoroughly familiar with such matters. She was twenty, still naive and inexperienced.
She didn’t really understand what was happening.
Xu Youyan spent most of her time filming youth idol dramas, where there weren’t many kissing scenes. To appease fans, most of them were simulated when the male lead reached out, he would kiss his own thumb instead.
