The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 30
Zhou Lianghui had other matters to attend to and couldn’t stay for long, but he was always determined to win Bo Zhoucheng’s favor. Xu Youyan was like a little bomb something he could exploit. Keeping this in mind, Zhou Lianghui headed home to deal with his own affairs.
Bo Zhoucheng was still busy filming, but these days, she was shooting her solo scenes. When it came to action sequences, Bo Zhoucheng had far more than Xu Youyan. For instance, at this moment, Xu Youyan was covered in fake blood, portraying the state of being severely injured.
For her sake, Bo Zhoucheng would unleash the suppression of the Thousand-Faced Gu and engage in a fierce battle with numerous martial arts masters a pivotal scene in the story. However, this scene was dangerous. One shot required Bo Zhoucheng to be pushed down a flight of stairs. Normally, such risky stunts would be performed by a stunt double, but Bo Zhoucheng rarely used one.
She believed it took away the thrill, and performing challenging scenes was part of an actor’s responsibility. Yet, this inevitably led to injuries. It was here that Su Cha honed her skills in bandaging and treating wounds.
“Lian Que, today will be your last day!” An elder slammed his palm against Bo Zhoucheng’s back, intending to send her tumbling down from the high platform. Under normal circumstances, the wooden railings previously sawn and glued back together, should have shattered upon impact. However, one of the railings didn’t break. Bo Zhoucheng collided directly with it, letting out a dull thud and a soft groan.
No sooner had she steadied herself than she collapsed to her knees. The crew panicked at the sight, and Xu Youyan rushed over, her fingers trembling. “Are you okay? Does it hurt?”
The sound of the impact had been loud enough for almost everyone on set to hear, a clear indication of how much pain she must be in.
“It’s nothing,” Bo Zhoucheng insisted, shaking her head stubbornly even as her lips turned pale. She lifted her gaze to Xu Youyan. Though she should have been in tears from the pain, a faint smile graced her lips. “Yanyan, you’re not mad at me anymore?”
Ever since that day, Xu Youyan had been giving Bo Zhoucheng the cold shoulder. Bo Zhoucheng had wanted to seek forgiveness but remembered Xu Youyan’s request for some time to process things. So, she suppressed her own distress and quietly waited for Xu Youyan to come to terms with everything.
“How can you still care about that in your condition?” Xu Youyan didn’t want to dwell on their petty squabbles. In her eyes, a person’s health and safety were what mattered most.
Bo Zhoucheng was helped away to rest, and the set’s emergency doctor was called in. After confirming that no bones were damaged, just a severe bruise everyone breathed a sigh of relief. The director angrily reprimanded the head of the props department, and the crew dispersed to reset the scene.
“Maybe you should use a stunt double next time?” Xu Youyan suggested, sitting by the bed as Su Cha lifted Bo Zhoucheng’s clothes to reveal a vivid bruise on her back the result of the collision with the wooden railing.
“No, that would be boring,” Bo Zhoucheng replied, a faint smile curling her lips. “If we act like that, we might as well use stunt doubles for everything. Only the kissing scenes with you are worth my personal involvement.”
Seeing how much pain she was in yet still cracking jokes, Xu Youyan couldn’t help but pinch her cheek. “Aren’t you in pain?”
“It hurts so much,” Bo Zhoucheng played along, her voice soft. “Yanyan, if you kiss me, it won’t hurt anymore.”
Xu Youyan: “…”
“I’m not a painkiller.”
Though she said that, her heart was still filled with concern. Xu Youyan lowered her head, swift as a shooting star, and her soft lips gently brushed against the other’s forehead.
Before Xu Youyan could speak, a soft cough came from behind. She looked up and saw Su Cha’s face tinged with a shy blush.
“You two, I’m still here.”
These two really don’t care about the suffering of the single people around them when they’re in love.
Su Cha’s inner resentment was high, but her hands remained gentle as she applied the ointment. The skin, bruised from the impact, burned with a fiery pain, but the ointment soothed it, easing the sting.
Still, she couldn’t move for a while any movement brought pain.
Xu Youyan had no mind for filming at the moment. The director was busy investigating issues with other props. If something like this happened again, he didn’t even dare to think about the consequences.
Bo Zhoucheng was the only daughter of the Bo family. If anything serious happened to her, the entire crew would be in trouble.
Cheng Zhun brought in a fruit basket, placed it down, and then left with Su Cha, who had finished applying the medicine, not wanting to disturb the two being alone.
“What would you like to eat?”
Xu Youyan crossed her legs, looking at the person lying on the pillow. The frustration in her heart dissipated. Fine, she wouldn’t argue with someone who was injured.
“You do care about me.”
Bo Zhoucheng chuckled softly. It seemed that getting injured wasn’t entirely a bad thing at least it made Yan Yan forget the pain of learning about the engagement a few days ago.
“If I didn’t care about you, knowing you had an engagement, I wouldn’t have reacted at all.”
Xu Youyan reached out and poked the other’s cheek.
“Right, big movie star?”
“Your acting is superb, isn’t it? You’re so good at understanding a character’s thoughts. Then you should know if I didn’t love you, I wouldn’t have shown any expression upon learning about your engagement.”
Bo Zhoucheng took a deep breath, surprised that Yan Yan had become so perceptive.
She nodded.
“That’s true, but I couldn’t bear you ignoring me.”
“So, this injury might not be such a bad thing.”
“As the saying goes, ‘A loss may turn out to be a gain.'”
Before Bo Zhoucheng could say more, Xu Youyan stuffed a peeled grape into her mouth.
“You’re the only one in the world who could say something like that while injured.”
The grape was a bit sour, but mostly sweet just like love.
Bo Zhoucheng swallowed it gently, spitting the seed to the side. It seemed her back injury would take a few days to heal.
She hadn’t expected this film shoot to be so fraught with difficulties.
Still, the final product was turning out alright.
Xu Youyan used a small knife to peel an apple. She wanted to peel it smoothly like in TV dramas, but she couldn’t manage it, ending up with a rather unappealing-looking apple.
She cut the apple into small pieces.
“Here, eat.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s eyes lit up. Her porcelain-white teeth bit into the apple, which was crisp and fragrant with the sweetness of fresh fruit.
“Thank you, Yan Yan.”
Bo Zhoucheng’s voice was as gentle as ever, softening even the edges of one’s heart.
Xu Youyan felt a little dazed. Just a few months ago, she had been fervently liking comments from Bo Zhoucheng’s anti-fans.
But now, she was willingly doing something she had never been good at peeling an apple for this person and patiently feeding her.
How unpredictable life truly is.
But,
Xu Youyan lowered her gaze to Bo Zhou, a flicker of hesitation stirring within her heart she couldn’t bear to part with this person either.
Those words she had just spoken were, in truth, meant for herself.
Xu Youyan, oh Xu Youyan.
Have you already fallen helplessly in love with this person?
