The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 23
After a few days of filming, Xu Youyan had fully adapted to the pace of the crew. As for the variety show, the two of them wouldn’t be participating in the recordings for the remaining episodes. They would only return for the finale. After all, such shows heavily rely on editing, and the production team already had enough footage to work with.
“Today’s scenes.”
Xu Youyan leaned against the table, comfortably reclining in her lounge chair as Cheng Zhun dutifully poured her tea. Her fingers tapped on the script, landing on the scene she had no choice but to act out an intimate scene.
“Lian Que pins the person’s hands down, her rationality already overtaken by the gu poison.”
Xu Youyan only managed to read a line or two before her ears flushed bright red. She recalled Bo Zhoucheng saying this scene was tailor-made for her. How infuriating!
Was she really this submissive in real life? Bo Zhoucheng was the domineering, assertive type, while she was just a delicate, fragile woman! This was truly too much!
Despite her internal complaints, this scene was unavoidable. When Bo Zhoucheng emerged in her costume and saw Xu Youyan, her eyes lit up.
“Are you nervous?” she asked.
Xu Youyan had always played roles in idol dramas, never anything with particularly intimate scenes. Today would be her first time.
“I’m not nervous.”
Xu Youyan glanced around anxiously, but the expression on her face betrayed her true feelings.
“Yanyan, you’re lying.”
Bo Zhoucheng gently held her hand, and the cool touch of her fingertips sent a shiver down Xu Youyan’s spine. Embarrassed, she lowered her head and asked, “Um, do we really have to touch?”
The script described Lian Que’s actions in explicit detail.
Bo Zhoucheng thought for a moment. “Yes, it’s necessary. This is a film.”
Seeing the shyness in Xu Youyan’s eyes, Bo Zhoucheng couldn’t resist reaching out to stroke her hair, as if petting a little kitten. Her fingers gently combed through the long strands.
“It’s okay, don’t worry. I’ll have the director clear the set.”
Bo Zhoucheng always carried an air of calmness, and her gentle tone was reassuring. Xu Youyan took a deep breath, reminding herself that she was an actress. There was nothing to fear about such scenes. If Bo Zhoucheng wasn’t afraid, why should she be? This was all for the sake of art.
After mentally preparing herself, the two entered the filming set. In the story, this was Lian Que’s bedchamber, with red curtains swaying, exuding an atmosphere of sensuality at first glance.
The director sat nearby, facing the camera equipment.
“Have all non-essential personnel leave,” Bo Zhoucheng said coolly, as if she were the one in charge.
And indeed, she was. This film was funded and organized by her, and she had even commissioned the script.
“Everyone, out!” the director shouted through a megaphone.
Bo Zhoucheng glanced at Xu Youyan and noticed she was examining the set, oblivious to their conversation.
“Let’s add a bit more to the scene later,” Bo Zhoucheng said softly, clearing her throat.
The director looked up, momentarily stunned before understanding. “You mean.”
“Nothing much, I just want to tease her a little more.”
With that, she walked away.
The director suddenly recalled the rumors in the industry that Xu Youyan had cast a spell on Bo Zhoucheng, making her utterly devoted. But now, it seemed that wasn’t entirely the case.
It was clear that Bo Zhoucheng had even more on her mind.
“Scene one, action!”
With the director’s booming voice, only a few crew members remained on set.
Bo Zhoucheng closed her eyes briefly, and when she opened them, she was fully immersed in her character.
Xu Youyan took a few deep breaths, sheathing the long sword in her hand.
“Why are you here?”
“I never knew… you were from the demon cult!”
Xu Youyan glared coldly at the person before her.
Bo Zhoucheng stepped closer, pressing her against the edge of the bed.
“Ah Xue, you shouldn’t have come.”
With that, she placed her hands on Xu Youyan’s shoulders. Before Xu Youyan could react, she tumbled onto the soft brocade quilt.
Her dark hair cascaded over the red quilt, momentarily dazzling to the eyes. Bo Zhoucheng paused for a split second but quickly regained her composure, continuing to act according to the script.
Xu Youyan had never been in such a position in front of others and felt somewhat embarrassed, but she remembered she was acting and delivered her lines.
Bo Zhoucheng’s fingertips were cold, like ice cubes pressed against her skin.
Yet, they brought a refreshing coolness to Xu Youyan in that moment.
Bo Zhoucheng’s gaze swept over, noticing the other’s collarbone, slightly prominent, the pale skin glowing seductively under the candlelight.
Truly, Youyan was captivating in every way.
She lowered her head, her nose brushing against the collarbone.
Suppressing the stirring emotions in her heart, Bo Zhoucheng continued with the scene. They had rehearsed this scene many times, mainly because Xu Youyan was too nervous.
She often forgot her lines at critical moments, gritting her teeth and blushing, unable to speak.
But what could she do? Bo Zhoucheng’s acting was so compelling that it was impossible to stay calm.
If it were any other director, even the biggest star would have been scolded harshly by now. But here…
The director merely gripped the megaphone tightly, swallowing his frustration. After all, who was she? She was Bo Zhoucheng’s wife. If he dared say a word against her, she would turn around and settle the score.
Bo Zhoucheng didn’t have the best reputation in the industry.
The main reasons were her stern expression, bad temper, and sharp tongue.
It was only in recent years, after falling in love, that she had mellowed a bit.
Finally, as the moon was about to peek out from the clouds, Xu Youyan finished her scenes for the day.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, glad they could wrap up and go home to sleep. But only Xu Youyan knew she wasn’t feeling well.
Her body trembled, her head felt dizzy and muddled likely because she hadn’t worn enough during the shoot and had caught a chill.
“Bo Zhoucheng… my head is spinning.”
Xu Youyan’s legs felt weak, and she didn’t want to take another step. She simply rested her head on the other’s shoulder.
Bo Zhoucheng reached out and touched Xu Youyan’s forehead. It wasn’t particularly hot, but the symptoms suggested she had caught a cold. She would need to brew some ginger and brown sugar tea and take some medicine for the chill when they got back.
“Then I’ll carry you on my back.”
Without hesitation, Bo Zhoucheng crouched down.
At that moment, numerous crew members were still packing up, and they witnessed the famously ill-tempered actress Bo crouching down.
Xu Youyan climbed onto her back.
The two walked out of the set together, where Cheng Zhun had been waiting outside. Seeing this, his thick eyebrows nearly knotted together.
“Youyan, it’s just a short walk. You can’t make Actress Bo carry you all the way back, can you?”
Cheng Zhun assumed his sister was just being lazy again.
Bo Zhoujing gently shook her head.
“Youyan is feeling dizzy. I think she caught a chill from the wind. She doesn’t have a fever now, but you should still buy some fever-reducing medicine just in case.”
“How could this happen.”
Cheng Zhun hadn’t expected her to fall ill after just a short while apart.
“She’s been filming all day, and she wasn’t dressed warmly enough. Of course, this would happen.”
Bo Zhoujing explained softly.
