The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 86
Chapter 86
After leaving Jiang Mu’s place, following the incident with the needle, Su Yi’an became much bolder. She managed to get into the same car as Lan Yan, though Lan Yan sat in the passenger seat while she sat in the back. Not a single word was spoken throughout the journey.
Even the driver could tell they were a young couple in the middle of a cold war. The beauty’s aura was so cold that the driver, who usually enjoyed chatting with customers, kept his mouth shut. Only when they reached the destination and he received two payment notifications did he have to call out to them: “Misses, you both paid twenty yuan extra.”
Lan Yan walked away in a hurry, and Su Yi’an ignored him as if she hadn’t heard a word.
The driver sighed helplessly. Turning around by chance, he saw a backpack left on the seat. He wanted to chase them, but they had already vanished from sight.
“Arguing so much they forgot their bag… young people these days…”
Just as the driver was about to get out to find a way to return the bag, a stranger in a suit approached the car and showed him a short video: “My young mistress sent me to collect the bag. Sorry for the trouble.”
Looking at the video of Su Yi’an walking with the suited man, the driver hesitated for only a second before believing him. He just couldn’t understand: it had only been a minute, so if she could send someone to get the bag, why couldn’t she just come back herself? That would have been faster. The thoughts of rich young ladies are different from us ordinary folk, the driver thought. To be safe, he took the man’s contact information and a photo before letting him take the bag.
The man in the suit was very cooperative.
Su Yi’an had, of course, intentionally let her subordinate take the bag. Most importantly, she wanted to remove the marriage certificate. As long as the certificate wasn’t on her person, even if her Sister wanted to drag her to the Civil Affairs Bureau for a divorce, the process would be delayed for a long time.
Carrying only her phone, she followed her Sister closely all the way to the front door. She summoned the courage to try and follow her inside, but just as she stepped one foot across the threshold, Lan Yan glared at her coldly. Su Yi’an sheepishly pulled her foot back and said tentatively, “I won’t disturb Sister. Sister, don’t be angry. I’ll sleep across the hall.”
It hurt, it hurt so much. Every day her Sister didn’t forgive her was another night she spent alone. When would she finally be able to sleep while holding her fragrant wife again?
Days spent in a unilateral cold war felt like seconds were years. She truly couldn’t stand even one more minute of this. She was wrong, she really knew she was wrong. The price of making her Sister angry was too high—it felt worse than losing over half her capital in a business deal.
Su Yi’an had already told Lan Yan that she owned the apartment across the hall. However, she seemed to have forgotten that the keys were in her backpack, which her subordinate had taken away. Consequently, when she walked over and realized she needed the keys, it was too late. She could only stare blankly at the cold, tightly shut door.
A miscalculation. Should she have her subordinate bring the keys back, or should she sleep downstairs? If she slept downstairs, would it stir a hint of pity in her Sister’s heart? Maybe if it rained a little or if she was chased by stray dogs, the effect would be even better… Su Yi’an’s mind wandered through wild scenarios.
Lan Yan looked at her, no longer in a rush to close the door. A cold curve formed at the corners of her mouth. “Miss Su, have you forgotten something?”
Don’t think she didn’t notice. The “dead rabbit” had intentionally left her bag in the taxi. As for why it was intentional? Simple: the driver had stopped, and only then did the rabbit take the bag off her shoulders. The eldest Miss Su had a lot of schemes; she wasn’t the simple Rabbit she used to be.
Su Yi’an’s spine stiffened. She turned to face Lan Yan, not intending to hide it. “The bag was taken by my subordinate. Sister, don’t worry.”
She could only use small, open schemes now; she knew she couldn’t hide them from her Sister. She couldn’t use the tactics she used against others on her Sister, and these little tricks only affected herself, having little impact on Lan Yan. Of course, if her Sister insisted she get the bag back, she would obey. But if her Sister mentioned divorce, her heart would break.
Lan Yan: “…” Who was worried about that?
Su Yi’an felt a bit guilty under Lan Yan’s gaze. Her voice softened: “I’m afraid Sister doesn’t want me anymore… I’m sorry.”
Precisely because she was afraid her Sister would mention divorce at any moment, she wanted to hide the marriage certificate first. Even if her Sister didn’t seem to have the intention of divorcing right now, women were prone to bringing up old scores; she was afraid her Sister would do the same in a fit of anger. Without the certificate on her, her heart wasn’t as anxious.
As for the keys, she really hadn’t thought that far ahead. Since her Sister didn’t want to see her the moment she stepped out, she really might have to go downstairs. It didn’t matter where she went; Su Yi’an actually hoped her situation was miserable enough to earn a shred of sympathy from her Sister.
Lan Yan’s pupils contracted. With a bang, she slammed the door shut.
She stood behind the door for a long time, reminding herself countless times not to soften her heart before finally changing her shoes to rest. Having not slept all night, her eyes were exhausted, but as she lay in bed, memories of the past flooded her mind—every detail was incredibly clear.
Lan Yan lay there for a long time without falling asleep, yet she just wanted to lie there and do nothing. It was as if by not getting up, she would never have to face that “dead rabbit” who made her sad and angry, yet for whom she couldn’t help but feel soft-hearted and didn’t know how to handle.
With so many schemes, surely Miss Su isn’t stupid enough to wait outside forever? Jiang Mu had said that being angry was one thing, but taking care of one’s health was most important. She wouldn’t care about that rabbit now. She would eat when she should and sleep when she should; she refused to be led by the nose.
Lan Yan comforted herself. After lying there for a long time, as the weather turned cool and a chilly breeze blew in through the window, she finally succumbed to exhaustion and fell asleep.
Su Yi’an had no keys and didn’t dare wait at the door any longer, so she went downstairs.
The sky showed signs of rain. Su Yi’an wasn’t so foolish as to stand in the open; she sat inside a pavilion. She wanted her Sister’s forgiveness, but health was the foundation of everything. If she got sick and her Sister still ignored her, it would be a loss. Although there was a chance her Sister would feel bad for her, she didn’t want to gamble with that. Besides, if her Sister felt pain, she would feel it too.
Time passed. The wind grew stronger, and rain seemed imminent. Since it was nearly August, the weather in the capital usually featured bright sun during the day and rain at night. Su Yi’an sat on a bench with her eyes closed. After a long while, she felt lightheaded, but because she was worried, she didn’t dare fall asleep.
Several leaves blew onto her face, waking her up. She checked her phone: 1:00 PM. About two hours had passed.
She wondered what her Sister was doing. Was she hungry? Probably not; she had eaten breakfast quite late. But who knew if her Sister actually ate? Maybe Jiang Mu ate her portion. However, there were pastries she had prepared at home—she had made a two or three-day supply before going to the US. If her Sister was hungry, she wouldn’t starve.
She just didn’t know if her Sister would eat what she had made. But thinking about that was useless; if her Sister refused to touch her food, even sending more up now wouldn’t help. As for herself, she hadn’t eaten a thing and was famished.
Just as Su Yi’an was about to order delivery, Old Man Su called.
“An’an, did you forget what you said yesterday? I knew you were lying to your old man about being married. Where are you?” Old Man Su’s voice was loud and aggressive.
Su Yi’an finally remembered the explanation she owed him. “Dad, I’m back in the capital… I was kicked out of the house by my wife…”
The plan had hit a snag. She had anticipated her Sister would be angry after her explanation, but she hadn’t expected her Sister to discover the truth first. From last night until now, she had only thought about explaining and coaxing; she hadn’t considered anything else. But Old Man Su’s interference might not be a bad thing. Perhaps it could catalyze her relationship with her Sister.
Su Yi’an’s eyes flickered as she exaggerated her actions: “I hid my identity, deceived Sister, tricked her into bed, and tricked her into marrying me. Now that she found out, she’s ignoring me and might make me divorce her. Dad, your daughter-in-law is almost gone…”
She knew Old Man Su was a very upright man. By saying this, he would definitely drag her before Big Brother Lan. Old Man Su and the Lan family wouldn’t stand by and watch her “bully” their sister. This would give her a chance to be near Lan Yan. No matter the punishment, it was better than being treated coldly and unable to get close. Besides, the rest of the Lan family would find out eventually. It was better to face it now. It was her fault anyway; taking her punishment early was better than letting resentment build up.
Break it to build it. With this in mind, Su Yi’an held nothing back and painted herself as a marriage-scamming scoundrel.
“What did you say?” Old Man Su couldn’t believe his ears. He trembled with rage, and after a long silence, he roared, “Is that how I raised you? You ignore the good and learn the bad! Why are you bullying a young girl? Couldn’t you just pursue her properly? And you bullied my friend’s sister! Do you want to kill me?”
“I told you not to hang around Madman Wang’s crowd but you wouldn’t listen! You wait right there!” With a snap, Old Man Su hung up.
“By 9:00 PM tonight, tie that brat up and bring her to the Lan family estate! If they don’t forgive her, I’ll kick her out of the family and disown her!”
“Master, isn’t that a bit harsh on the young mistress…?”
“Did she think about ‘harsh’ when she was bullying that girl? Wait, beat her first. Make it heavy.”
“Master, please reconsider, maybe there’s a misunderstanding…”
“Misunderstanding? The scoundrel said it herself! Can it be a misunderstanding? I told her to date and marry properly, but she wouldn’t listen. Is this the behavior of a human being?”
Before the call cut, Su Yi’an heard this exchange. Far from being afraid, a smile appeared on her face. She leisurely ordered a delivery, intending to have a full meal first. When Old Man Su said “beat her,” he meant it. This would serve as an apology to the Lan family. She hoped her Sister would calm down afterward. She didn’t mind the beating; she just wanted it to be worth it. She had a strong constitution and the family had plenty of doctors; she’d be lively again in a few days.
If Old Man Su really kicked her out and froze her assets, and her Sister still didn’t want her, she would truly be a wanderer on the streets. Sister is such a gentle person; surely she won’t watch me fall into such ruin? I really hope Sister takes me in. I don’t mind continuing to be ‘kept’ by her at all.
Another hour passed. Su Yi’an finished her meal. The dark clouds were thickening, feeling as if a deluge was imminent. But besides the heat, not a single drop of rain fell until 6:00 PM.
The grandmother who had taken her grandson to school earlier returned. Seeing Su Yi’an still in the pavilion, and since her grandson wanted to play, the grandmother stopped to talk. “Your lady still hasn’t forgiven you? Sigh, is her temper that big? Between a couple, as long as it’s not cheating or domestic violence, nothing is a big deal. I say, as an Alpha, sometimes you have to be assertive. Carry her to bed and coax her… maybe your lady just can’t lower her pride. Take me, for example; sometimes I like my man to be assertive…”
The grandmother kept winking at Su Yi’an, as if she couldn’t stand to watch her fail and was passing on her experience.
Su Yi’an: “…Okay.” If I dared do that, I’d be kicked out of more than just a room. Her Sister was truly angry, not just throwing a minor tantrum. To be honest, in all their time together, they had never had a “minor” squabble. Furthermore, according to her observations, her Sister didn’t actually like her being too forceful; she responded much better to the gentle and considerate type. Although Lan Yan indulged her “in that area” occasionally, while she was still angry, Su Yi’an wouldn’t dare try to force her even if she were given ten times the courage.
Even when they were in the honeymoon phase, she always carefully asked for her Sister’s opinion. Not everyone was like the grandmother; that method wouldn’t work. However, she felt a sudden, inexplicable heartbeat at the thought. Well, thinking about it isn’t a crime. Sister doesn’t know what I’m thinking.
She humored the grandmother, and after she left, Su Yi’an remained steadfast in the pavilion. she was waiting for Old Man Su to catch her; that was her chance to get close to her Sister. The grandmother’s advice wasn’t right for her Sister now, but maybe in the future, she could try. What if her Sister liked her being a bit “wild”? She hadn’t tried it yet, and since her Sister was the type who didn’t like making noise at those times, who knew? Su Yi’an’s thoughts drifted between joy and worry.
Lan Yan had a light nap. When she woke up, her mental state and mood were much better. Having only eaten breakfast, she was hungry. She looked at her phone but ultimately didn’t call the cooking auntie. Instead, she went to the fridge and took out a box of pastries.
They were a bit cold, much like the weather outside. The wind blew in from the balcony, causing the curtains to sway. Lan Yan sat on the sofa with the pastries but suddenly lost her appetite. Looking at the trash can which was nearly empty, she suddenly took out the trash bag.
After changing her shoes and reaching the door, she told herself she was just going down to throw away trash, not to see what that “dead rabbit” was doing, and certainly not because she felt bad for her standing outside.
When the door opened and she didn’t see anyone, Lan Yan felt an inexplicable discomfort. Did the rabbit use her key to go across the hall or somewhere else? It’s too easy for Miss Su to go wherever she wants. It’s none of my business. Maybe she’s currently whispering sweet nothings to some other ‘Sister’.
When she saw the girl, Lan Yan was cold; when she didn’t see her, she couldn’t help but overthink and wasn’t as happy as she expected. Lan Yan irritably brought the trash bag back in and sat on the sofa. After just ten minutes, she couldn’t sit still and called Lan Yin.
“Lan Yin… about Rabbit…”
As she spoke, she unconsciously walked to the balcony. Considering Lan Yin didn’t know about their conflict, Lan Yan’s tone was normal, and she still referred to her as “Rabbit.”
Sure enough, Lan Yin didn’t notice anything amiss. She was only surprised: “Little Aunt, did something happen to Aunt Rabbit in the US?”
This proved the little Alpha hadn’t gone back to school. Lan Yan glanced down at the pavilion and saw a familiar figure. Her eyes narrowed slightly, but her voice became much more cheerful: “It’s nothing. I’m hanging up now.” Thinking of her when she’s gone, getting angry when she’s there. This was her current state.
Lan Yin: “…” She stared at her blank screen, but didn’t think too much of it, assuming her Aunt just missed the other.
The swaying curtains drew Lan Yan’s attention. She looked at the black clouds. It looked like it would pour tonight, and that pavilion couldn’t block the rain. Being drenched in this weather made it easy to catch a cold. Does that dead rabbit plan to stay there all night again?
Su Yi’an’s face had been so haggard this morning, and her eyes were bloodshot; she must have stood outside all night. She usually has so many schemes, so why is she being so honest now? Who is she doing this for? Does she really think I’ll feel bad for her? Lan Yan felt angry again, her emotions fluctuating entirely because of the Alpha downstairs.
She sat back on the sofa, closing the windows and pulling the curtains. The already dim room grew darker, much like Lan Yan’s expression. Her phone sat quietly on the table. After a moment of silence, she picked it up. She called Jiang Mu. “A-Mu, were you planning on coming over tonight?”
Jiang Mu, who had reconciled with his new boyfriend and was waiting to be fed: “…” He swallowed a piece of apple and typed back firmly: “Not really.” It was about to rain; why would he go all that way to Lan Lan’s place instead of staying home with his boyfriend?
Lan Yan: “You were.”
Jiang Mu looked at the screen, then at the dark sky, and suddenly realized. “Yes, I really want to come over. I’m coming right now.”
I’m really exhausting myself for Lan Lan’s love life, he thought. He bet Lan Lan was having him come over just to bring an umbrella to her little Alpha. He suspected the Alpha had been waiting downstairs. Fine, fine. For my tsundere Lan Lan, I’ll make the trip.
Lan Yan: “Remember to bring an umbrella.”
Jiang Mu: “Got it. Thanks for the ‘concern,’ Lan Lan.”
Jiang Mu laughed. He took a peeled banana from his boyfriend. “Let’s go. Come with me to a friend’s house.”
The man was stunned. “Didn’t you say we weren’t going out today? I’ve prepared dinner, and it looks like it’s about to rain.”
Jiang Mu gave him a look. “We’ll cook somewhere else. And while we’re at it, let’s save your former young mistress who is about to be drenched to death.”
The man: “…” Okay, I get it now. Is the Madam that hard to coax? The Miss is suffering. But it seemed like true love; he had never seen the Miss willing to suffer like this for anyone before. Usually, any Omega who tried to get close was thrown out. In matters of the heart, there was always someone who could tame another.
Jiang Mu and his boyfriend drove to Lan Yan’s place with two umbrellas. When they arrived, it still hadn’t rained, and the dark clouds had actually thinned a bit. Seeing the little Alpha in the pavilion, Jiang Mu couldn’t help but smile. “Miss Su, what are you doing here alone? It’s getting dark, and it might pour soon. Aren’t you going to find somewhere to hide? This place won’t stop a heavy rain.”
While Jiang Mu dared to laugh, his boyfriend didn’t; he bowed respectfully. “Miss.”
The group chat said the Master was sending people to catch the Miss and bring her to the Lan family to apologize. Why was she acting like nothing was happening, just guarding the Madam? If she fell into the hands of those Lan brothers and the Madam didn’t protect her, she’d lose a layer of skin even if she didn’t die. But he couldn’t say this; the Miss surely knew. He just didn’t understand her plan.
“Mmh,” Su Yi’an nodded slightly. “What are you doing here?” Without Lan Yan, she and Jiang Mu had little in common.
“Coming to Lan Lan’s for a free meal, of course.” Jiang Mu placed an umbrella by her hand. “Look, I won’t bother you, but it’s going to rain soon. Take this umbrella and find a place to rest.” He knew Lan Lan likely didn’t want to deal with her yet, so there was no point in her waiting. If she got sick from the rain, Lan Lan would only feel bad and blame herself.
“Thank you,” Su Yi’an nodded again, clearly having no intention of further conversation.
However, a spark of hope rose in her heart. Sister cares about me. Sister called Jiang Mu over. Even if the possibility was small.
Jiang Mu shook his head and was about to leave when several men in suits suddenly rushed in and took Su Yi’an away. Su Yi’an didn’t resist.
Jiang Mu’s boyfriend pulled him aside and whispered, “The Master’s men. We can’t interfere. Just notify the Madam.”
