The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 63
Chapter 63
Being held too tightly brought a sense of suffocation, but the “fire” spread from Su Yi’an’s back straight to her heart. The flush on her face hadn’t faded once. She felt as though she could perceive the contours of her Sister’s figure against her back.
Lan Yan’s warm breath brushed against the back of Su Yi’an’s neck a fatal sensation for an Alpha. Su Yi’an’s hands, gripping the rope, began to sweat. Steeling her nerves, she exerted force in her limbs and quickly climbed out of the pit despite the extra weight on her back.
“Little Aunt! Where are you hurt? Do we need an ambulance?” The group, seeing Su Yi’an’s hand bruised and battered while she still insisted on carrying Lan Yan, assumed the latter’s injuries were far more severe. They crowded around in concern.
Being carried on the little Alpha’s back in front of everyone made Lan Yan feel like she was emitting steam. “Put me down,” she whispered, her breath tickling Su Yi’an’s ear.
Su Yi’an didn’t budge. She walked two steps forward. “Little Aunt’s foot is sprained; she can’t move for now.” This explanation made Lan Yan want to bury herself back in the dirt pit. She called her “Little Aunt” while she herself was faking an injury to cling to her the irony was stifling.
“I’m fine now,” Lan Yan said, her voice a bit louder. “Your hand is injured. Put me down, I can walk.” She was amazed by the girl’s stamina; even with an injured hand, she climbed out effortlessly. As much as Lan Yan wanted to be close to her, she didn’t want the girl to exhaust herself during the thirty-minute hike to the summit.
However, Su Yi’an’s grip only tightened. “Little Aunt can’t move,” she repeated stubbornly. She was convinced Lan Yan was just being stoic for the sake of appearances in front of Lan Yin.
“I… can move,” Lan Yan tried again.
A strange silence fell over the group. He Xia broke the awkwardness: “Maybe we should head down the mountain and find a doctor? Su Yi’an’s hand looks bad too.”
“No need,” Su Yi’an and Lan Yan said in unison.
When He Xia offered to take over the carrying, Su Yi’an’s face turned icy. “Little Aunt is a bit… heavy. It’s better if I do it. My hand is fine.”
The group nodded, looking at He Xia’s thin arms. But that “low EQ” comment about weight completely dispelled any romantic suspicion. Lan Yin even felt ashamed for doubting them—I must be watching too many romance movies, she thought.
Lan Yan, however, was stunned. Heavy? I’m barely 100 pounds! She forced a smile and slid off Su Yi’an’s back. “I’ll walk myself. Consider it weight loss.”
The hike continued. Su Yi’an followed behind, panicked. She had only said she was “heavy” to keep others from offering to carry her!
“Sister, your foot…” “I have plenty of meat on me. It’s fine now,” Lan Yan retorted coldly. The group couldn’t help but snicker at the usually elegant Little Aunt’s dry humor.
Su Yi’an felt like she’d committed a cardinal sin. She didn’t realize that for an Omega, especially one you like, comments about weight and age are off-limits. Eventually, when the others moved ahead, Lan Yan glanced back at the dejected Alpha and felt her anger melt. She reached out and took Su Yi’an’s hand.
“I see you’re walking unsteady, be careful not to fall,” Lan Yan justified. Su Yi’an beamed. She was walking “unsteadily” on purpose, knowing her Sister was too kind to let her stumble.
At the summit, they watched the sunrise—a golden sea of clouds. As the group took photos and prepared lunch, the two “injured” ones were left to sit together.
“Sister,” Su Yi’an whispered, “Actually, you aren’t heavy at all. You’re just right.” Lan Yan looked at her. Seeing the girl still agonizing over the comment proved she cared. “Then, do you think it’s better to be a bit heavier or lighter?”
Su Yi’an panicked. Was this a trap? “Lighter, I suppose?” She saw Lan Yan’s gaze dim slightly. Fearing she’d messed up again, she quickly added: “Actually, as long as it’s the person I like, weight doesn’t matter at all.”
Lan Yan went quiet, looking at her own reflection in her mind. She felt a rare spark of insecurity. The little Alpha was young, fit, and talented. Without her family background, Lan Yan felt she might not be “good enough” for her. She even thought about getting a gym membership once they got back to the city.
The trip back to Jing City was quiet. Lan Yan and Su Yi’an sat in the back of the car. Su Yi’an, exhausted from the night before, fell asleep and slumped onto Lan Yan’s shoulder.
Lan Yan watched her. The little Alpha looked like a sleeping rabbit. When no one was looking, Lan Yan reached out and gently poked the girl’s soft cheek.
“Sister…” Su Yi’an murmured in her sleep, nuzzling into Lan Yan’s neck. Lan Yan froze. The girl’s lips were almost touching her skin. She realized her own behavior was quite childish, but she didn’t move. She let Su Yi’an sleep on her shoulder all the way home.
When they arrived, Lan Yan sent the others back to school but kept Su Yi’an with her, claiming she needed Dr. Jiang to check her hand.
In Lan Yan’s living room, Dr. Jiang finished the examination. “It’s just a bruise. But Lan Lan, your little Alpha is getting injured every other day. I’m becoming a regular guest here.”
Su Yi’an, having drunk too much water to hide her nervousness in the car, excused herself to the restroom. Once she was gone, Lan Yan spoke up slowly.
“I have a friend…” Dr. Jiang interrupted, “Lan Lan, isn’t your only friend me?” Lan Yan glared at her and continued, “I have a friend who sponsored a much younger Alpha. She thinks she… might like her. What should she do?”
Dr. Jiang: “…” Just say it’s you already.
