The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 42
Chapter 42
Is this kind of thing funny?
Su Yi’an froze completely as she listened to Lan Yan’s light chuckling.
However, she had finally passed this hurdle. Even if someone brought it up again in the future, her Sister wouldn’t be suspicious of her. As long as her Sister didn’t mind, she could overlook today’s incident.
The cool breeze blew against her face. Once the heat subsided, Su Yi’an turned around. “Sister, I’m heading back then.”
Waiting until two pedestrians walking toward them in the narrow alley had passed, Su Yi’an opened the car door and stepped out.
“Wait.”
Lan Yan looked at her and handed over a box of medicine she had nearby. “Dr. Jiang gave this to you. It helps with gland recovery. Take it three times a day, two pills at a time, half an hour after meals. Remember to take it on time.”
She spoke very detail-oriented.
Su Yi’an was slightly surprised.
There really is medicine? She had thought the “medicine” was just an excuse to terminate the agreement because of what happened. But she was wrong; ever since they got in the car, although her Sister’s mood was a bit off, she hadn’t mentioned the agreement once. That was likely why Su Yi’an had been able to interrupt her so easily earlier.
Whether out of guilt or something else, her Sister always maintained a trace of tenderness toward her.
Su Yi’an kept her head slightly lowered, but she used her mental energy to slowly trace the features of the other woman’s face. The more she looked, the more rapid her breathing became.
How could her Sister be so good? Fortunately, she belonged to her now.
Seeing the little Alpha acting as if she didn’t dare to look at her, Lan Yan assumed she was still shy. She immediately withdrew her smile and said solemnly, “You don’t need to blame yourself too much. This kind of thing is normal. I don’t blame you.”
She was older, but she wasn’t some old-fashioned prude. Although she never watched those things herself because she disliked certain Alphas, she couldn’t stop others from doing so. If the little Alpha’s self-esteem was wounded because of this, it wouldn’t be good. She really shouldn’t have laughed just now.
“Thank you, Sister.”
Su Yi’an took the bag, shot a quick glance at her, and turned to walk away rapidly, as if a fierce beast was chasing her. In reality, she was just afraid she couldn’t control the emotions in her eyes.
Luckily, her glands and pheromones were currently malfunctioning. Otherwise, her Sister would have smelled that intense scent of wine, and it wouldn’t be a matter of “explaining” anymore. Her Sister’s pheromones might even be forced out by her, given that she had temporarily marked her several times.
There was a powerful pheromone attraction between them, but she didn’t want to use that to force her Sister. Infatuation was temporary; if things continued that way, her Sister would eventually wake up, and they would reach a dead end.
Lan Yan watched her retreating back, a trace of worry surfacing in her eyes. She watched for a long while until the little Alpha’s figure vanished before driving out of the alley.
The little Alpha was probably hurt by her laughter; otherwise, she wouldn’t have avoided her gaze and run off so fast. What should she do now? The little Alpha wouldn’t say anything, so she didn’t know what she was thinking. This little Alpha was truly a handful.
When Lan Yan got home and finished her shower, she leaned back on the sofa, still feeling uneasy. After hesitating for a moment, she composed a message to the little Alpha. She wrote and deleted, deleted and wrote, finally sending: “Actually, I also have a favorite Alpha. She is also a famous actress in adult movies in Country M. So, it’s normal for adults to watch these things. You don’t have to feel ashamed.”
Regardless of what the other side thought, Lan Yan’s face turned red. She was speaking against her conscience; discussing such things with the little Alpha she was supporting was embarrassing, no matter how mature and rational she was. But to keep the little Alpha from overthinking, she had to grit her teeth and send this “consolation.”
By this time, Su Yi’an had been sitting in her dorm for a while. She was holding the medicine Lan Yan gave her, carefully reading the instructions.
Her Sister wasn’t wrong; the medicine was beneficial for gland recovery, but it was mostly for nourishing the body. The formula consisted entirely of expensive medicinal ingredients, not the kind of medicine an average person would use.
Was this really from Dr. Jiang? Or did Sister…
Su Yi’an was lost in thought when her phone suddenly rang with the specific notification for a WeChat message. She quickly picked it up, and seeing it was from her Sister, her heart bloomed with joy.
However, when she saw the content, Su Yi’an choked on her saliva, coughing until her face was flushed and her veins were bulging.
How could her Sister send a message like this? Had she been hacked? Probably not. So, for the sake of her self-esteem, her Sister actually said such things?
Su Yi’an was both happy and worried. Happy because her Sister cared about her; worried because her Sister’s perception of her seemed to have suffered a massive deviation. If she ever exposed her true nature in the future, would her Sister be angry to death?
Seeing Su Yi’an coughing so hard, He Xia—who had been watching her carefully—became even more cautious. “I’m sorry, Junior Su. If I did something to make you mad, just say it. You can even hit me, just don’t get yourself sick with anger.”
After being lectured by her girlfriend, she also felt she had provoked her roommate, though she still hadn’t figured out the exact reason. It was best to apologize first since they had to live together for a long time. she couldn’t stand her roommate being cold and silent all day; it was too quiet, it made her scared. Moreover, this was her savior, so every fault was her fault.
Junior Su had answered every question before the barbecue, but after returning, she had been cold and unresponsive. Although the chill around her had vanished, this attitude was more painful than a direct scolding.
Su Yi’an didn’t care about He Xia, but her constant talking was annoying. After she stopped coughing, she waved her hand at He Xia to indicate she wasn’t angry. If her Sister wasn’t angry, why would she be? If she were truly angry, He Xia wouldn’t be standing there talking to her. She just didn’t want to waste energy on an unimportant person.
He Xia took the hint and didn’t dare say more. She grabbed her pajamas and headed for the bathroom. “I’ll go shower first then.” This meant Su Yi’an would have to wait a bit if she wanted to shower since the water heater needed time to reheat.
But Su Yi’an didn’t know that; the words sounded different in her ears. She frowned deeply. What does her showering have to do with me? She’s not Sister.
Su Yi’an’s attention soon returned to her phone. She hesitated for a long time, unsure how to respond to her Sister’s message. She knew perfectly well that her Sister didn’t watch those things. Even she herself had only started learning because she fell in love with her Sister.
If her Sister were already her wife, she might jokingly discuss it with her. But now, any answer felt inappropriate and risked killing the conversation, and she wanted to chat more. It felt wrong to ask Chen Zhi for advice again; she didn’t want her private matters with her Sister to be known by more people, even her best friend, because her Sister wouldn’t like it.
Earlier, she had turned to Chen Zhi in a panic, but now she felt Chen Zhi’s idea was too much—it totally ruined her image. The only upside was that her Sister had misunderstood and was being even nicer to her. Fine, her Sister would eventually find out she was “thirsty” anyway.
Su Yi’an thought for a long time before sending a cute kitten emoji and replying seriously: “Sister, I don’t feel ashamed, and I don’t blame myself.”
She instinctively ignored the first part of her Sister’s message. She couldn’t very well ask which Alpha her Sister liked, or even what positions she preferred. That was asking for death.
Lan Yan stared at her phone for a long time. Because she couldn’t see the little Alpha’s expression, she couldn’t tell if the cold text on the screen was true or false. She couldn’t exactly find a photo of an Alpha to send over; she really didn’t watch those things and didn’t even know where to find them.
After thinking for a moment, Lan Yan asked: “Then why didn’t you dare to look at me tonight?” This was the point she cared about—it was why she was convinced she had hurt her. Regardless of the agreement or being a “secret lover,” she needed her pheromones; that was a fact, and things couldn’t go on like this.
Lan Yan had never coaxed a younger girl and didn’t interact with Alphas often. No matter how smart she was, she couldn’t guess Su Yi’an’s heart—the only heart she could somewhat guess was Lan Yin’s.
Across the screen, Su Yi’an felt as if her “Sister Grape” was interrogating her. Her face turned red, and she sat frozen for a long time. Could she say it was because she missed her? Could she say she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to control herself? Obviously not.
Su Yi’an could only stubbornly reply: “I wasn’t afraid to look at Sister.”
Since the person wasn’t there, Lan Yan couldn’t prove she was lying. She sighed and finally typed “Get some rest early” and said nothing more.
Lan Yan’s mind was too chaotic. After finishing her face mask, she tried to sleep but couldn’t. She got up to get a book from the shelf and sat back on the sofa, trying to numb herself with words. Opening a page, the dense text gradually blurred and transformed into the little Alpha’s shy and awkward face. Lan Yan’s breathing grew heavy, and she quickly snapped the book shut.
The back of her neck felt slightly itchy, and a faint scent of grapes permeated the air. It wasn’t the feeling of pheromones going out of control, but rather a slight, normal physiological reaction. Lan Yan sat in a daze, her mind blank.
Until Xiao Bai, who had been waiting in the bedroom, pushed open the door and jumped onto Lan Yan. Meow… Xiao Bai let out a low cry, as if asking why her owner hadn’t come to bed.
Lan Yan snapped out of it, lifted Xiao Bai up, and scolded gently, “You little thing… coming in uninvited.” Just like that little Alpha—incredibly obedient when she wanted to be, but truly stubborn when she chose to be.
Why am I being affected by that little Alpha? Lan Yan’s gaze toward Xiao Bai gradually darkened.
In the Dorm
Su Yi’an leaned lazily in her chair, staring at her phone with a frustrated expression. As expected, she had killed the conversation again. That’s why her Sister told her to rest. But starting a new topic now didn’t feel right. She didn’t want to disturb her Sister’s rest.
In front of others, she wasn’t exactly talkative, but she wasn’t so bad that she couldn’t find anything to say after two sentences. It was her current status that limited her; she and her Sister had no common topics. Not just on WeChat, even face-to-face, she didn’t know what to say. More accurately, there were many things she didn’t dare to say, which made her passive.
Sigh… When would she be able to be honest with her Sister? Any way would do. Su Yi’an felt strangely melancholy and empty.
She sat quietly until He Xia came out of the shower. “Junior Su, the water isn’t hot yet. You’ll have to wait if you want to shower.” He Xia wasn’t a naturally attentive person; this was a deliberate attempt to make amends. Since there was no real enmity between them, Su Yi’an nodded slightly.
The dorm went quiet once He Xia stopped talking. Sitting alone, Su Yi’an felt a surge of loneliness. Tonight was a night without her Sister. Unfortunately, she still hadn’t managed to take a photo of her, and there had been no chance. She could only wait for the trip to Mount Miao this weekend.
Su Yi’an showered, blew her hair dry, and climbed into bed. But with her mind racing, she couldn’t fall asleep quickly. Before she knew it, it was midnight.
The system’s voice rang out with an indescribable cheerfulness: “Congratulations, Host! You have completed the mission to prevent Zhan Ming from signing an agreement with Jiang Dong. Reward: 50 points. Current total points: 100. Host can now exchange for the antidote to the sterilization.”
“However, Xiao Kuaibao wants to remind you: your points have just reached 100. If your points accidentally turn negative and you can’t fix it within three days, it will be quite dangerous. Therefore, I suggest taking a steadier route. Wait until Zhan Ming’s success timeline arrives to get more points before exchanging. Of course, I respect your choice.”
It sounded happier than Su Yi’an herself. Su Yi’an didn’t really care about the timing, as she didn’t plan on having children with her Sister yet; that was up to her Sister anyway. However, taking medicine every time she helped her Sister with her pheromone disorder wasn’t a long-term solution. Like at the Zhang house—not having water was inconvenient. Although she had managed to swallow the medicine with her Sister’s help, what if an emergency happened and she didn’t have pills? It was a constant risk.
As for the negative points, she just had to do missions. Currently, Zhan Ming was easy to handle, meaning missions were easy to complete. So, the sooner she got the antidote, the better. Then, she wouldn’t need those pills to help her Sister.
Su Yi’an pondered for a moment and asked, “Does the sterilization antidote work immediately?” She was afraid of an instant recovery that would arouse suspicion, especially from her Sister.
System: “Of course not. To avoid being abrupt and to fit reality, the Host’s glands will recover slowly over a month. For example, within three days, a trace of pheromones will leak out. A week later, the concentration will be higher until total recovery. So, Host doesn’t need to worry about being snatched for experiments.”
That’s good. Su Yi’an hesitated for only a second before choosing to exchange.
System: “Okay, Host. Antidote exchanged. 100 points deducted. Current points: 0. Would you like to use the antidote now?”
Su Yi’an: “Use it.”
System: “Okay, antidote used. To prevent negative points, a random mission is now open: Please prevent Zhan Ming from dating Jiang Dong tomorrow night. Reward: 10 points.”
Su Yi’an: “…You didn’t say that earlier.”
The system sounded aggrieved: “Host didn’t ask! You can’t blame Xiao Kuaibao.”
Su Yi’an was angry: “Last time points were negative, there was no random mission. And didn’t Zhan Ming and Jiang Dong fail to sign the agreement?”
The system explained patiently, “Last time was your first mission, you were still in the newbie protection period. Plus, you made up the points within three days. Zhan Ming and Jiang Dong didn’t sign a fake relationship agreement tonight, but they made a verbal agreement to fake a relationship.”
A “verbal fake relationship”—Su Yi’an was hearing this for the first time. She had to admire Zhan Ming’s quick thinking and ability to find loopholes in her words. But didn’t this also mean she could find loopholes in the system’s missions? Su Yi’an didn’t know whether to laugh or be angry. Finally, she said nothing and let her mind go blank until she fell asleep.
The next day, Su Yi’an woke up early. The first thing she did was call Zhan Ming: “Are you dating Jiang Dong tonight?”
Concise and direct. Zhan Ming was stunned for a second. Then his face changed. “How did Great-Aunt know?” Jiang Dong had just mentioned it to him, and he was still considering it. If Su Yi’an knew this, how vast must her influence be? The current Su family was likely not the Su family of old. Escaping this person was as difficult as climbing to heaven.
Fortunately, Su Yi’an only forbade him from being a “kept man”; she didn’t interfere too much in other things and actually gave him many conveniences. In that case, escaping didn’t really matter. It was just that he didn’t want to live under someone else’s roof. He wanted to pay her back as soon as possible and do what he wanted. Now, that seemed difficult.
Su Yi’an: “You don’t need to know how I know. You just need to know you can’t date Jiang Dong tonight.” She wasn’t willing to waste more effort on something a single phone call could solve. She seemed to remember something and continued: “Since you have the energy, go see two people. They are my second uncle and aunt.”
She had previously told Zhan Ming to keep her identity a secret; for safety, preparations had to be made.
“Okay. But Great-Aunt, Jiang Dong has leverage over me, so…” Zhan Ming’s feelings for Jiang Dong were complex. He didn’t really want to go, and he welcomed this excuse. He could use his Great-Aunt’s hand to get back those damaging items.
“I understand,” Su Yi’an hung up. Having solved one thing, she felt much more relaxed. Her words were basically a promise. Zhan Ming was in a great mood; he directly rejected Jiang Dong, feeling a sense of triumph. He had been tormented by him for the last two days. Once his Great-Aunt helped him get those things back, he would no longer be under Jiang Dong’s threat. Being controlled by his Great-Aunt was miserable enough; he really didn’t want a second person controlling him.
Throughout the day, she didn’t receive any messages from “Sister Grape,” so Su Yi’an wasn’t very interested in anything. She was already looking forward to the weekend. After class, she went to Lan Yin’s studio. The studio hadn’t found a model yet, so she went to help her future niece. She owed her for the trip to Mount Miao. Even without that, just hearing her talk about her Sister made her feel comfortable, so she was happy to help.
However, there were too many Omegas asking for her WeChat, both male and female. He Xia was right—her face was quite charming among the students. But that charm was a nuisance to her. After rejecting another male Omega, Su Yi’an’s face was almost frozen. Just as she was about to leave the studio, the system’s urgent voice arrived: “Jiang Dong and Zhan Ming are about to meet at a bar. Please go and stop them immediately! Please go and stop them immediately!”
The urgent voice made the originally calm Su Yi’an feel flustered. She instinctively dialed Zhan Ming’s phone, but just like last time, it didn’t go through.
Su Yi’an said immediately, “Which bar?” This involved life and death; she couldn’t be as casual as before now that she had her Sister.
This was strange. Zhan Ming kept his promises. Since he had agreed, he wouldn’t back out for no reason, and he didn’t even want to see Jiang Dong. At noon, she had already had the “leverage” he mentioned eliminated. Logically, he shouldn’t be going. She couldn’t figure it out, so she decided to go in person.
System: “The same bar where Host met Sister Grape before. As for where specifically, Host will have to look. Friendly tip: Host cannot use mental energy inside. There are jammers, it won’t work.”
Su Yi’an’s steps paused. “…I know.” Otherwise, she wouldn’t have spent so long looking for Zhan Ming last time, eventually letting him meet her Sister.
In a private room at the bar
Lan Yan was supporting Jiang Mu, who was so drunk she couldn’t even stand. Her expression was not good. Jiang Mu even pushed her: “Lan Lan, don’t worry about me. That dog of a man wants to disgust me, right? Today I’m going to find an Alpha to sleep with. Have Lan Yu come and find me the best-looking Alpha.”
The “dog man” was Jiang Mu’s ex, who had broken up with her for another Omega. He was already married to that Omega but had come back to pester Jiang Mu. Lan Yan had rushed over after receiving Jiang Mu’s message. She had been working late at the office, but when she arrived, she found Jiang Mu dead drunk and playing around with several Alphas. Had she been any later, Jiang Mu would have suffered a great loss. Lan Yu’s bar had a better atmosphere than others, and while nothing messy would happen, no one cared if things were consensual.
Lan Yan had a headache. She waved for the Alphas Jiang Mu had ordered to leave and helped Jiang Mu onto the sofa. Just as she was about to pour her some water, her gaze accidentally caught a figure passing by outside the door. Her eyes darkened slightly.
Why is the little Alpha here again?
