The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 41
Chapter 41
“It’s nothing.”
Both of them were very natural and shared a tacit understanding. Since they were sitting together and had already met several times, it was normal for them to exchange a few words.
Lan Yin couldn’t tell anything was amiss. The barbecue they ordered earlier was mostly finished, and seeing that her friends still seemed unsatisfied, she asked the boss for the menu to order a bit more. After ordering, she handed the menu over: “Is there anything else Senior Su or Little Aunt would like to eat?”
Su Yi’an finished the plate of food that had been piled in front of her. At this point, she was feeling slightly nauseous, so she shook her head and stood up: “I’m going to the restroom.”
She didn’t address anyone specifically, but her peripheral vision was fixed on Lan Yan. She only stepped away after seeing Lan Yan nod slightly.
Su Yi’an didn’t actually want to use the restroom; she was simply afraid of throwing up in front of her sister again. After all, her sister had been a bit displeased last time and had even lectured her. Although, it couldn’t really be called a lecture.
The group was having a great time eating. He Xia had even ordered a case of beer, so they didn’t pay much attention to Su Yi’an’s departure. Except for Lan Yan—though she said nothing, she silently moved the dishes in front of Su Yi’an to the other side.
Lan Yan was a bit annoyed. She was a smart woman; she knew the little Alpha likely went to the restroom because she didn’t know how to refuse and had overeaten. She had mentioned this to her last time, but it seemed she hadn’t listened. The usually well-behaved and obedient little Alpha was quite stubborn on this point.
Su Yi’an didn’t go to the restroom. Once the strong urge to vomit subsided, she planned to head back. Suddenly, seeing someone at the next table ordering food, Su Yi’an had a sudden inspiration. She walked over, spoke with the owner for a few moments, and entered the back kitchen.
About twenty minutes later, He Xia finished her drink, looked at the empty seat across from her, and said: “Why hasn’t Junior Su come back yet? Could she be in some kind of trouble? I’ll go check.”
Since He Xia was the only other female Alpha present, no one objected. Su Yi’an had indeed been gone for a while. Even though she hadn’t been drinking, they were all a bit worried after what happened last time.
Just as He Xia stood up, Su Yi’an returned. She was carrying two dishes: a portion of sweet and sour pork ribs and a portion of stir-fried green vegetables.
“Junior Su, so you were secretly ordering more food! We thought something happened to you, you gave us a scare,” He Xia teased with a laugh.
The others also joked: “Senior Su, we’re all full. Can you finish that? Don’t let it go to waste.” They had eaten quite a bit for dinner and were now mostly snacking on barbecue. The stir-fried dishes ordered earlier were mostly eaten by Senior Su; they hadn’t expected her to be able to eat more. But then again, top-tier Alphas were different from average people; it was normal to eat a lot with such high physical energy.
“Mm.” Su Yi’an didn’t say much to them, simply placing the dishes closer to Lan Yan and herself.
Smelling the familiar aroma of the food, Lan Yan was stunned and gave Su Yi’an a few extra looks. This food was made by the little Alpha; she had eaten these two specific dishes made by her before. Lan Yan, who hadn’t actually eaten her fill, immediately had her appetite piqued. She picked up her discarded chopsticks, her anger completely vanished, replaced by a flicker of pleasure in her eyes. There was a reason why such a thoughtful little Alpha occupied a place in her mind.
A small smile played on Su Yi’an’s lips as she symbolically picked up a piece of green vegetable. Unknowingly, both plates of food were finished by Lan Yan.
This scene naturally did not escape Lan Yin’s eyes, and her expression became strange. Her Little Aunt usually ate very little when out, and she hadn’t really touched her chopsticks earlier. Could it be that the food Senior Su brought back was different from before? Weren’t they both from the restaurant next door? Lan Yin found that she understood her Little Aunt less and less. She wanted to try a bite, but by the time she reached out with her chopsticks, there wasn’t even a leaf left in the dish—only a bit of minced garlic, which she didn’t eat, so she had to give up.
“Senior Su, Little Aunt, aren’t you two drinking?” He Xia passed the beer toward them.
Both of them simultaneously thought of the scene where they were pulled over by the traffic police the night before. They put down their chopsticks, and the ears hidden beneath their long hair turned red. Fortunately, the light in the barbecue shop was dim, making it impossible to see clearly unless looking closely. Furthermore, everyone else had been drinking and it was a summer night, so their faces were even redder than Lan Yan’s and Su Yi’an’s. No one noticed the subtle change.
Su Yi’an pushed a whole pack of tissues toward the group. After everyone who needed one took a sheet, she pulled one out and placed it in Lan Yan’s hand. The treatment was slightly different, but the distinction wasn’t grand.
Lan Yan wiped the corner of her mouth with the tissue and politely declined: “Sorry, I have to drive in a bit.”
Unless necessary, she didn’t want to touch alcohol at all. It wasn’t that she was a bad drunk, but rather that she was “too good” of one. In the words of her cousin Lan Yu, she was so well-behaved when drunk that anyone could just walk away with her. As for whether that was true, she didn’t know, because she had only ever been drunk in front of Lan Yu; even Jiang Mu didn’t know what she was like drunk. She didn’t like drinking primarily because once she started, she couldn’t stop. It wasn’t that she didn’t like it, but rather that she liked the taste too much.
Just like… the little Alpha’s pheromones.
That was why she was thinking of her now, thinking of her pheromones. Come to think of it, the last time she drank was during the New Year. Lan Yan glanced at the little Alpha sitting upright, her gaze gradually becoming complex. Perhaps because the little Alpha’s gland was damaged, she could no longer smell that wine scent with a hint of mango on her. This pure, clear wine scent now seemed even more pleasant to her.
Speaking of which, she had smelled this wine-scented pheromone on someone else once before—in her brother’s bar, on a fox-like female Alpha. She had even given her first kiss to that person, and she had been the one to initiate it. She didn’t hate the person, but the feeling of being controlled by pheromones made her recoil whenever she thought of it. Moreover, that person’s kissing skills were, frankly, terrible; she just stood there with a stiff body like a block of wood.
Unlike the little Alpha, who was very gentle and kissed her in a way that forced her to admit she felt something. In comparison, the little Alpha was full of merits—at least she was very satisfied. It was just this personality of not knowing how to refuse that troubled her. Lan Yan lowered her eyes and withdrew her gaze. Why was she thinking of that stranger now?
Su Yi’an wasn’t unaware of Lan Yan’s gaze, but she couldn’t guess the meaning. Every time “Sister Grape” looked at her, her heart rate accelerated, and her clenched palms began to sweat. She wasn’t paying much attention to what others were saying; all her thoughts and senses were focused on the person beside her. The fresh scent of mint overpowered all other smells. Su Yi’an’s mind was clear, but because it was clear, her imagination often ran wild.
Until He Xia waved a beer bottle in front of her: “Junior Su, what about you? Don’t tell me you’re not drinking either?”
As an Alpha, if you don’t smoke, don’t flirt with Omegas, and don’t drink, what’s the point of life? Even Lan Yin and the others could drink quite a bit as Omegas; after all, this little bit of alcohol wouldn’t get anyone drunk. It was understandable if Little Aunt had to drive, but Junior Su had to have some.
However, He Xia was destined for disappointment. Su Yi’an stated quite openly: “Sorry, I’ve never drank before. I don’t know how.” She could drink, and her tolerance was actually quite good, but since her sister wasn’t drinking, how could she? Moreover, based on her observations, her sister didn’t seem to like drinking much either.
The two of them even used similar phrasing to refuse. Although He Xia was disappointed, she didn’t continue to push, only joking: “Junior Su and Little Aunt have such a tacit understanding. If I didn’t know better, I’d think you two were the actual aunt and niece.”
The alcohol was starting to get to her head. After the joke, she forgot about it and turned to share a “cross-cup” drink with Zeng Wei.
“Does having an understanding make you aunt and niece? I have an understanding with my best friend too.” “Senior He, your eyesight isn’t great. Little Aunt and Senior Su don’t look alike at all. How are they aunt and niece? Saying that will hurt Sister Lan’s feelings.” “Look, you and Zeng Wei have an understanding. Aren’t you a couple? So, an understanding can mean many types of relationships.” “Nonsense! Take another drink as punishment.” “Zeng Wei, you need to discipline her!”
The group laughed and teased He Xia, not thinking anything of the two who weren’t drinking. They were close, and He Xia was generally accepted as the “brother-in-law” of the dorm, so there were no reservations in their speech. He Xia didn’t get angry either; after drinking, she shamelessly leaned closer to Zeng Wei and kissed her on the cheek: “Are you going to discipline me?” Zeng Wei gave her a light punch.
The group burst into laughter again. Only Lan Yin quietly glanced at her Little Aunt. Many young people were like this nowadays. Her Little Aunt was usually very proper; would this behavior from He Xia and Zeng Wei make her feel uncomfortable? Fortunately, her expression didn’t change, nor was there that coldness she showed toward strangers. Her Little Aunt probably viewed them all as juniors; she wouldn’t hold a grudge against juniors. Lan Yin breathed a sigh of relief.
She was worried, unaware that the “proper” Little Aunt she spoke of had recently kissed the “Senior Su” she spoke of on the street in front of others.
Lan Yan and Su Yi’an glanced at each other and then quickly looked away. They didn’t look at He Xia and Zeng Wei. Both had things weighing on their minds, and sitting together made them feel as if the air around them was sweltering. Especially Lan Yan—she didn’t know what was wrong with her. After a busy day, she was clearly exhausted, yet instead of going home, she had driven here to sit with these youngsters. Seeing the passionate young people, she felt she really was getting older and somewhat out of place.
But the little Alpha beside her didn’t seem like a young person at all. she seemed even more old-fashioned and dull than herself, just eating without saying much. Lan Yan was a bit worried that her introverted personality would make her a social outcast among her classmates, making her feel lonely.
Naturally, this concern was unnecessary. Su Yi’an’s purpose for coming to school wasn’t to make friends, and she didn’t need to fit in. Furthermore, the people here knew her personality and were long used to it. With her sister by her side, how could Su Yi’an feel lonely? She was overjoyed. She didn’t speak only because she had nothing to say to He Xia and the others. The things she wanted to say, she couldn’t say out loud. So, she chose silence, quietly accompanying her sister. If her sister was happy, she was happy.
At the dining table, one side was noisy while the other was quiet, yet it was strangely harmonious. For some reason, over on He Xia and Zeng Wei’s side, the playing turned into Zeng Wei darkening her face and grabbing He Xia’s ear, glaring at her with feigned anger: “So you’re very charming, huh? Tell me, how many other Omegas do you have outside?”
He Xia repeatedly begged for mercy. Even though she knew Zeng Wei wasn’t truly angry, she was so nervous she blurted out: “None, none! I’m the least charming Alpha in our class. If you don’t believe me, ask Junior Su. I haven’t even had contact with other Omegas. The most charming Alpha is definitely our Junior Su. I’m not bragging—at least ten Omegas have asked me for Junior Su’s contact info!”
“Right, right?” She winked frantically at Su Yi’an while speaking.
Everyone knew they were joking, and Su Yi’an’s charm in school was evident to everyone, so they all laughed: “Does Senior Su’s charm even need to be mentioned? If she didn’t already have an Omega she liked in her heart, would there even be a chance for others? We’d have made a move ourselves.”
It was just a joke, and if Lan Yan hadn’t been there, Su Yi’an wouldn’t have cared. Now, however, she felt like she had thorns in her back. Facing her sister’s slightly dark gaze, Su Yi’an’s face went pale for a moment, and her brain seemed to stop functioning. The worst part was that she couldn’t explain; some things only got worse the more you explained them. For instance, she couldn’t explain who this “liked Omega” was. She hadn’t won her sister’s heart yet; once she admitted she liked her, their agreement would likely end right then and there. Even worse, if her sister knew the purpose of her approach, would she ever be able to be with her again? So, she couldn’t admit it, but she couldn’t deny it either.
For the first time, Su Yi’an truly hated He Xia’s big mouth. She was flustered, and a murderous glint appeared in her eyes as she glared at He Xia.
The sudden silence was noticed by everyone. They looked at each other, confused. From their perspective, He Xia’s comment was just an insignificant joke. But for Su Yi’an, things that weren’t funny weren’t jokes. In fact, this was a serious problem. He Xia herself was startled and forgot to coax her girlfriend. She scratched her hair awkwardly: “Junior Su, what… what’s wrong? Don’t… don’t scare me.”
Just as the tension reached its peak, Lan Yan suddenly let out a light laugh: “Oh, really? Is the little sister that charming? It’s a good thing to be charming. You’re young, after all.” Her tone didn’t reveal any anger, but it broke the tense atmosphere.
Su Yi’an had no mental capacity to focus on anyone else. Although she didn’t dare look at Lan Yan, all her mental energy was focused on her. Thus, she knew that although her sister appeared calm and indifferent on the surface, her heart was actually not at peace. Her sister’s emotions were unstable.
“Oh, right, right! Even though Senior Su is charming, she’s extremely clean and only interested in that Omega in her heart. What does it matter if other Omegas like her? She doesn’t even spare them a glance.” Zeng Wei pinched He Xia and tried to smooth things over with the other girls. They still didn’t understand why Su Yi’an had suddenly exploded, which led to things becoming “darker the more they were painted,” just like Su Yi’an’s expression.
“Is there anything else you classmates want to eat?” Lan Yan suddenly stood up. She was smiling, but the smile didn’t reach her eyes. “It’s late. If not, I’ll head back first.” Her voice was still indifferent, but Lan Yin could hear her displeasure.
Everyone was mostly full, and with things becoming so unpleasant, they couldn’t eat any more. One by one, they said: “Right, right, it’s late. We have early classes tomorrow. Little Aunt should go back and rest too. Thank you for treating us to dinner today.” “Goodbye, Little Aunt. We’re heading back to school.”
At this time, no one dared to pull the grim-faced Su Yi’an. They had only seen this expression on her face once before—when she faced those thugs. To this day, they still remembered the ferocity with which she beat them. He Xia plucked up the courage to go over but was pulled away by Zeng Wei. Once they were far away, Zeng Wei pinched He Xia’s ear again: “Look at your big mouth, you’ve offended someone! Tell me, what’s going on between you and Senior Su?”
Although she hadn’t figured out why Su Yi’an’s face had suddenly changed, it had indeed happened right when He Xia opened her mouth. He Xia was more confused than anyone. She repeatedly complained: “That quiet blockhead Junior Su never tells me anything. How was I supposed to know which mine I stepped on? I really don’t know. I was just praising her charm, which is something everyone knows…” As the two walked away, their voices could still be heard faintly.
After paying the bill, Lan Yan said softly to Lan Yin: “Go back.” She was pleasant, and if Lan Yin hadn’t known her temper well, she would have thought her Little Aunt was in a good mood. Just as no one understood why Su Yi’an was angry, Lan Yin didn’t understand her Little Aunt. However, even knowing her Little Aunt was in a bad mood, there was nothing she could do. Perhaps these classmates were too noisy and the jokes went too far, affecting her Little Aunt’s mood, Lan Yin guessed. She glanced at the motionless Senior Su, sighed, and turned to leave: “Then I’ll head back to school first. Be careful on the road, Little Aunt.”
Su Yi’an also stood up.
Lan Yan stopped her: “Dr. Jiang asked me to bring you some medicine. Come with me.” Lan Yin only faintly heard this sentence as she walked away.
Things today were indeed strange, but no matter how much she thought about it, she never imagined her Little Aunt and Senior Su had that kind of relationship. Nor could she imagine Su Yi’an would darken her face over a small joke simply because her Little Aunt was present.
At nine in the evening, the area outside the school was at its liveliest, filled with students out for fun. Su Yi’an followed silently behind Lan Yan, weaving through the crowd and getting into the car parked in the alley with her. She had no experience dealing with this, but she didn’t lack people with rich romantic histories around her—for instance, Chen Zhi. Before getting into the car, Su Yi’an had already received a solution from Chen Zhi. However, under her sister’s powerful aura, she couldn’t help but feel flustered. Chen Zhi’s method was, frankly, quite shameful. But she couldn’t think of anything better, so she had to grit her teeth and use it.
Lan Yan was indeed annoyed. She didn’t know if she was annoyed because the little Alpha had lied about not having someone she liked, or something else. At that moment earlier, she had even impulsively wanted to terminate the agreement. She couldn’t tolerate a grain of sand in her eye; if an Alpha had someone else in their heart, she didn’t want to hold them back. Now she felt like the villain using power to break up a loving couple. Looking at the little Alpha’s current state, Lan Yan’s heart softened, and she didn’t know how to start.
She rolled down the car window and looked outside. After a long while, she spoke: “You have an Omega you like?” Her voice was unhurried, like a casual question.
Alarm bells rang in Su Yi’an’s heart. She didn’t have time to consider how good Chen Zhi’s method actually was. She gritted her teeth and nodded. Before Lan Yan could speak, she took the initiative to admit her fault: “It’s my fault, Sister. I broke the agreement first.”
With that, Su Yi’an opened her phone and handed over a photo, enduring the shame: “This is the ‘liked Omega’ He Xia was talking about.”
Lan Yan glanced at it casually, and a sudden pang of pain hit her heart. She had to admit, the woman in the photo had an excellent figure. Although her features weren’t as good as her own, she looked younger.
“Fine… then we…”
As soon as Lan Yan spoke, Su Yi’an urgently interrupted her and leaned into Lan Yan’s ear, whispering something. The paleness on Lan Yan’s face slowly turned into a flush, and she looked at Su Yi’an in shock. What was the little Alpha saying? That the Omega she liked was the most famous actress in adult movies from Country M? Did this well-behaved little Alpha like that kind of thing too?
Lan Yan was embarrassed and annoyed, but her heart no longer hurt, and her complexion looked much better than before. She really hadn’t expected that such a clean little girl would actually…
Su Yi’an’s face was even redder than hers. She took a deep breath: “Sister, I’m sorry. Because I’ve never been in a relationship, I was just… curious before, and then… this is my favorite Omega. If Sister minds, we can terminate the agreement.”
This was too embarrassing. Although she had indeed looked at such things to learn after falling for her sister—even the kiss was learned from adult movies and novels—and she even kissed her own hand to make her sister happy, saying it out loud in front of her sister was truly humiliating. Would her sister always guard against her as a pervert from now on? Her perfectly disguised image… although, she did truly want to be intimate with her sister. Su Yi’an wanted to cover her face, but in the end, she did nothing.
After the initial shock, Lan Yan regained her composure. Looking at the little Alpha whose face was almost entirely red, she didn’t feel as annoyed. To tell her even about this showed honesty. Young people couldn’t control many things and had strong curiosity; she understood that. To be this good-looking and not go out and mess around was a rarity among Alphas. For some reason, Lan Yan wanted to laugh, but considering the little Alpha’s precarious self-esteem, she held it in, only saying calmly: “It’s better to show moderation with those things.” Doing it herself would, after all, harm her body.
“Mm.” The heat on Su Yi’an’s face hadn’t faded. She quickly took back her phone, still not daring to look at Lan Yan: “Sister doesn’t blame me?” She cursed Chen Zhi to death in her heart.
Lan Yan couldn’t help but let out a light laugh. What did she have to blame her for? This was perfectly normal among adults. She was just… a bit surprised, that’s all.
