The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Jiang Mu wanted to point out that an Omega’s glands aren’t like an Alpha’s; they are literally evolved to be marked and possess much stronger recovery capabilities. A bite here or there really wasn’t a life-altering disaster.
However, seeing the genuine worry in the young girl’s eyes, Jiang Mu looked at Lan Yan and teased, “Lan Lan, shall I give you a look-over too?”
He wanted to see exactly how far they had gone—was it just a temporary mark, or a permanent one?
Lan Yan’s expression darkened instantly.
“Alright, alright, just a joke! Lan Lan is definitely fine, and little girl, you’re fine too. Don’t let the fact that our Lan Lan is nearly thirty fool you—her pheromones are pure. You won’t catch anything ‘weird’ from her. Your injury is just from poor initial care; it’s a bit inflamed.”
Jiang Mu, a master at reading the room, immediately raised his hands in surrender. He sat at his computer, printed a new prescription, and handed it to Su Yi’an. “Go to the pharmacy downstairs. Ointment once a day—best to wrap it in gauze. Oral meds three times a day. If there’s no improvement in twenty-four hours, come back and see me.”
“But by then,” he added, “you’ll need injections.”
Jiang Mu had seen the commotion in the hallway earlier when he went to find the nurse. He was intentionally trying to spook the girl.
Su Yi’an shuddered involuntarily. She felt as if those terrifying needles were already piercing her skin. Every part of her felt uncomfortable, yet she still turned her gaze toward Lan Yan. “Is Sister really okay?”
“I’m fine,” Lan Yan replied, a flicker of unnatural stiffness appearing on her cold face.
“Pfft…”
Jiang Mu couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “What could possibly happen to her? Her wounds have likely healed by now. On the other hand, little girl, you need to pay attention. For at least two weeks, you cannot do anything… ‘extra’ with your Sister.”
As a doctor, he felt he had to provide the necessary professional advice.
“Shut up!”
The veins on Lan Yan’s forehead throbbed. She cut him off sharply and turned to Su Yi’an. “We’re leaving.”
As long as she’s fine… maybe next time I don’t have to be so restrained. I can be a bit firmer, Su Yi’an thought. She felt a wave of relief, but her face burned.
“I’ll see you out.”
Jiang Mu stood up immediately. As he passed Lan Yan, his eyes were full of mischief. “Not bad, Lan Lan. So you found yourself a little sister. I was wondering why your pheromone scent changed today. What, don’t want the world to know you two are… mm?”
He knew his friend was currently a mix of guilt and embarrassment, but she wasn’t truly furious. Otherwise, he wouldn’t dare tease her like this. He bet she wouldn’t lose her temper in front of the girl.
In a department that was usually the quietest and most boring in the hospital—lucky to see three or five pheromone tests a day—this rare comedy was making his whole week.
Jiang Mu was a trained professional, but he really couldn’t help himself this time. He had never seen Lan Yan like this. If the other Lan brothers found out, they’d all go insane. Now he knew why she chose to bring her here.
Lan Yan’s face was hot. She adjusted her breathing and decided to ignore him. She had brought Su Yi’an here because she trusted Jiang Mu’s discretion, but she hadn’t expected… well, never mind. Jiang Mu would tease her, but he wouldn’t spread it to the family. That was why she sought him out.
Seeing Lan Yan remain silent, Jiang Mu decided to quit while he was ahead. He turned to Su Yi’an. “In short: no pheromone activity for two weeks. That means abstinence. Best not to even watch ‘little movies,’ and definitely don’t go near any Omegas in heat.”
Su Yi’an: “…” That sounds difficult. I’ve been dreaming about ‘drinking grape juice’ every night lately.
As Su Yi’an and Lan Yan picked up the medicine and walked toward the hospital entrance, a warm breeze blew against their faces, making their blushes seem less obvious. Both remained in a mutual, silent understanding.
Only after they stepped outside did Lan Yan speak. “Are you hungry?”
Su Yi’an was lost in thought. Hearing the question, she shook her head without thinking. “I’m not hungry.”
It was not even 9:00 AM. Sister Grape didn’t seem to like roadside stalls, and Su Yi’an could just eat once she got back to school. However, she was worried—why hadn’t Sister Grape given her the agreement? Was she waiting for the lab results?
Lan Yan paused her step toward a nearby restaurant and turned toward the parking lot instead. “I’ll send you back.”
“Okay.” Su Yi’an wanted to spend more time with her, so she didn’t refuse.
The moment they got in the car, the driver handed Lan Yan two drinks. “President Lan, the items you requested.”
Lan Yan took them, kept the coffee for herself, and handed a cup of grape juice to Su Yi’an. “Drink some of this to settle your stomach.”
They had come early, and she had specifically told the girl not to eat breakfast. Saying she wasn’t hungry was likely just the girl being shy.
Su Yi’an was flattered. “Thank you, Sister.”
She took a sip. Suddenly, her mind jumped to the other meaning of “grape juice,” and the blush that had just faded came roaring back.
Lan Yan glanced at her and told the driver, “Turn up the AC.”
“Yes, President Lan.” The driver accelerated and promptly raised the privacy partition.
Lan Yan took two sips of coffee, her pale face flickering in and out of the light as the car moved. Her gaze shimmered as if she were contemplating something. After a long silence, she spoke softly: “Are you afraid of needles?”
Su Yi’an, caught off guard, choked on her juice. She coughed until her face turned purple. “Sister… I… cough…”
Alright, she admitted it. Injections were one of her greatest fears. She hadn’t had a shot since she was a child.
Lan Yan seemed to curl her lips into a tiny smile, though it was hidden behind her coffee cup. She leaned slightly closer to Su Yi’an and asked, “Do you know why I had you do the check-up?”
Hair brushed against Su Yi’an’s ear; a fragrant scent filled her nose.
Su Yi’an’s coughing stopped. Her expression stiffened slightly. Should she act smart or act dumb? Her persona was “pure but not stupid.” Sister Grape had made it obvious enough.
In a split second, Su Yi’an calculated her response. She lowered her eyes, blushing, and asked instead of answering: “Is it because Sister has decided to let me pay off my debt with… myself? I’m willing.”
Smart. But a likeable, considerate kind of smart, Lan Yan thought. She liked talking to people like this.
Lan Yan pulled a document from her briefcase and handed it to Su Yi’an. “Read it carefully. Sign only once you’re sure. If there’s anything you want to add, tell me.”
Finally.
Su Yi’an felt a surge of joy. She tried her best to hide it as she flipped through the contract. But when she saw the clause stating they would only meet twice a month—and only when Lan Yan needed her—she froze. A wave of uncontrollable disappointment washed over her.
This contract wasn’t much different from the one Lan Yan signed with Zhan Ming in the original book. Lan Yan only wanted pheromone soothing. Beyond that, no physical contact. Simply put: she couldn’t touch her.
The only real difference was that she was being offered several times more money than Zhan Ming was.
But she hadn’t come for the money. If money could solve this, she’d pay Sister Grape 100,000 a month just to be near her.
Lan Yan observed her expression and raised an eyebrow. “What is it? Is there something you want to add?”
Is she thinking 50,000 a month isn’t enough?
