The CEO Omega’s 'Soft Rice' Alpha - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Lan Yan hadn’t lied; she really only ordered basic checks.
The first was a blood draw to screen for infectious diseases, and the second was a pheromone compatibility test. Originally, Lan Yan hadn’t planned on the latter, but after Su Yi’an mentioned her pheromones were “unstable,” she decided to check. After all, the pheromones were the most critical part of the agreement.
Though Lan Yan had experienced it firsthand last night—the girl’s pheromones were exceptional, and that brief temporary marking could likely stabilize her own disorder for about two weeks—she had suffered from insomnia all night. She couldn’t stop thinking about how her own loss of control had lured the young girl into such a situation. Moreover, seeing the girl was friends with her niece made her hesitate about developing this kind of relationship.
Hearing Lan Yan’s explanation for the pheromone test, Su Yi’an felt like she’d dug a pit for herself. She regretted lying about her “unstable” pheromones, but she hadn’t been sure if Lan Yan would recognize her as the Alpha from the bar that night.
Staring at the blood-drawing room, Su Yi’an took a deep breath and summoned her courage. “Sister, will you come in with me?”
Lan Yan, who had intended to wait outside, glanced at her and nodded slowly.
“Thank you, Sister!” Some color returned to Su Yi’an’s pale face as she walked in.
She remained remarkably calm—until the nurse pulled out the collection needle. Cold sweat broke out on Su Yi’an’s forehead, and the arm tied with the tourniquet began to shake uncontrollably.
That needle is terrifying. I want a cigarette.
The nurse sighed. “Miss Su, please don’t move. I can’t do my job if you’re shaking.”
“I’m not moving!” Su Yi’an gritted her teeth, stubborn as a mule. But now her legs were shaking too, making her look like a vibrating motor.
“Miss Lan, look…” The nurse looked behind Su Yi’an for help.
Many people recognized the President of Lan Jewelry, especially since the hospital had been notified in advance. They just couldn’t figure out why someone of her status would bring a young girl here for a simple physical instead of using a private doctor. Given their looks, they assumed they were relatives.
Lan Yan covered her mouth to hide a smile. She stepped forward and pressed a cold hand onto Su Yi’an’s arm. “Don’t move.”
She could hardly believe this was the same Alpha who had taken down four thugs bare-handed. It was a good thing she hadn’t called a private doctor; if her brother Lan Yu knew about this, heaven knows what rumors he’d spread—probably that she was bullying and “forcing” a poor girl.
The scent of mint drew closer. The hand on Su Yi’an’s arm was cool, sending a spark through her heart and igniting a secret fire. Su Yi’an froze, stopping her tremors immediately. She sat perfectly still.
What a well-behaved girl. Lan Yan looked at the crown of her head and let her lips curve upward slightly. So, she’d asked for company because she was needle-phobic.
“All done. Miss Su, press down on the cotton swab.” The nurse skillfully drew the blood and released the tourniquet. She teased, “Seems like the sister’s words are the most effective!”
To Su Yi’an, the simple remark felt like it was setting her on fire. It felt as if that cool hand was pressing directly against her heart. Lan Yan withdrew her hand quickly. “Let’s go.”
The pheromone lab was right next door.
“Lie face down over there. Tie your hair up and expose your gland!”
As soon as they entered, a familiar voice rang out. Su Yi’an looked up and felt a jolt of alarm. It was the male Omega who had been with Lan Yan at the bar—the one who had hit her with his bag.
This is tricky, she thought. She hoped her people had successfully tampered with the test results, or this doctor might find something.
Jiang Mu saw Lan Yan follow her in and laughed. “You already called ahead, yet you still have to watch in person? Lan Lan, is this your family’s little friend?”
His friend had only said a girl was coming for a test; he hadn’t expected Lan Yan to bring her personally. She must be a younger relative, though he’d never seen this beautiful girl before.
Su Yi’an instinctively turned to see how Lan Yan would respond. Lan Yan didn’t answer, simply saying “A-Mu” in a warning tone. Jiang Mu raised his hands in surrender. “Fine, fine. I’m working!”
Jiang Mu put on latex gloves and approached Su Yi’an with the extraction device. When he saw her exposed gland, his face dropped. “What on earth bit you? It’s mangled! How am I supposed to test pheromones on a wound like this?”
Su Yi’an’s face turned bright red. She tried to hide it. “It’s nothing.”
She secretly liked the mark, but Jiang Mu was serious. “You’re young; don’t disregard your gland! If you’d waited any longer, you might have permanently lost the ability to become a mother! Don’t hide things from your doctor. Wait… these look like human teeth marks. Who would bite an Alpha’s gland like this? Are they rabid?”
Cough, cough! Su Yi’an nearly choked. She peeked at Lan Yan and caught her gaze.
Lan Yan’s deep eyes were a complex swirl of embarrassment, guilt, and a strange, unreadable tenderness. Su Yi’an felt that the bite had been worth it.
Lan Yan looked away first and asked Jiang Mu, “Is it hard to treat?”
“Depends on if there’s an infection,” Jiang Mu said, cleaning the wound with alcohol. “First, I need to know who bit you. Speak up, little girl.”
Silence. Su Yi’an turned her head away with stubborn defiance.
Jiang Mu got annoyed. “Listen, do you have any idea how important a gland is to an Alpha? You can’t just let people bite it! If you don’t tell me, I can’t treat it properly.” He suspected domestic violence or school bullying.
As Su Yi’an remained silent, Jiang Mu turned to tell Lan Yan he couldn’t help her “relative,” only to hear his ice-cold friend slowly utter three words:
“I bit her.”
At the same time, the previously silent Su Yi’an spoke up: “I bit Sister too. Can you check her first?” (Even though she’d been gentle, she was worried she’d hurt her).
Jiang Mu: “…”
He pressed the alcohol-soaked cotton swab hard against Su Yi’an’s wound. So, this wasn’t that kind of “little friend.” His friend of thirty years, who had never shown interest in romance, sure played dirty.
They were literally flirting with him while he was trying to be a doctor. Who doesn’t have an Alpha? he thought bitterly. Still, he noted that Lan Lan’s “little friend” was remarkably well-trained and obedient.
Su Yi’an’s eyes teared up from the sting of the alcohol, while Lan Yan’s blush spread all the way down her neck.
