Chapter 30: Greetings to the Returning Demon Lord!
The two cultivators from the Spirit Sword Immortal Sect didn’t even have time to utter a scream before they were pulverized into shards of ice on the ground. Forget a complete corpse, not even a wisp of a lingering soul remained.
Mo Xun deactivated the array and looked up at Yun Wushang flying in the air.
Her appearance hadn’t changed. She still wore the white robe trimmed with cyan edges. Although her hairstyle wasn’t as meticulous as usual, it was still neat and tidy, having been personally attended to by Mo Xun, with no signs of post-coital disarray.
She flew a short distance forward, turned to face Mo Xun, and slowly descended.
Her veil had been removed. Her face also showed no change; it was still breathtakingly beautiful, and her expression was still aloof and distant, showing no emotion.
But her demeanor had completely transformed.
The arrogance deep within her bones, which had previously only inadvertently surfaced in her gestures, was now unrestrainedly radiating outward.
She held her chin slightly raised, looking down at Mo Xun with the gaze of an empress surveying a commoner.
Mo Xun met Yun Wushang’s gaze calmly, saying nothing.
Yun Wushang’s eyes narrowed, as if displeased with Mo Xun’s reaction, yet she did nothing, and continued: “You cultivate the immortal path, and I cultivate the demonic path. Our paths are worlds apart. Therefore, we can never become Dao Companions in this lifetime.”
When Mo Xun asked if Yun Wushang was willing to become her Dao Companion, Yun Wushang was internally moved.
Yun Wushang didn’t believe Mo Xun truly liked her. She always felt Mo Xun had ulterior motives, so when Mo Xun held her down and had her way with her, she was prepared to be played with and discarded, treating it as a forced moment of indulgence.
She hadn’t expected Mo Xun to actually be willing to become her Dao Companion.
It was unexpected. However, it was too late. Much too late.
If Mo Xun had been born a few hundred years earlier, met her sooner, then…
Then what? Would she not have fallen to the demonic path?
No. Her descent into the demonic path had nothing to do with Mo Xun or anyone else. She had walked the wrong path from the start and now clearly saw everything.
So, at this moment, she didn’t feel regret about not being able to become Mo Xun’s Dao Companion. She only found Mo Xun’s reaction a bit odd.
How can she be so calm?
Yun Wushang frowned slightly. Seeing that Mo Xun still had no intention of speaking, she had no choice but to ask directly: “Don’t you have anything to say?”
“Hmm…” Mo Xun pondered for a moment before replying with this sentence: “Then, should we continue exploring now? Since we’re here, it seems a shame not to turn this place upside down.”
Yun Wushang: ?
Yun Wushang always found Mo Xun hard to read, unable to distinguish which of her words were true and which were false, unable to tell if the smile on her face was sincere or misleading.
In this situation, she felt she understood Mo Xun even less.
What kind of powerful mental fortitude and audacity does it take to still casually think about the demonic creatures and herbs in the secret realm while facing a Great Vehicle stage Demon Cultivator?
Actually, Mo Xun felt a slight headache right now.
She had known Yun Wushang was the Demon Lord from the beginning. Long before fully healing her, she was prepared for her to recover to the Great Vehicle stage, so she wasn’t surprised when Yun Wushang actually did recover.
It wasn’t that she was entirely unaffected, but the emotion was so negligible that it wasn’t enough to elicit a shocked expression.
She considered putting on a show but worried about overdoing it. If her acting was too exaggerated, it might arouse Yun Wushang’s suspicion, which would be counterproductive.
So, Mo Xun ultimately decided to go with the flow, speaking exactly what she thought: “You are a Great Vehicle stage Demon Cultivator. You probably don’t have much interest in this secret realm suitable for Nascent Soul experience, but I’m quite interested. I want to continue exploring. Will you come with me?”
Yun Wushang: “…”
Yun Wushang really wanted to cut open Mo Xun’s head to see if her brain was wired differently.
Just as this thought crossed her mind, three cultivators in blue robes flew from a distance.
“Who is it! Who dares to kill people from our Spirit Sword Immortal Sect!” the leader angrily shouted.
A cultivator immediately following chimed in: “Water Moon Immortal Sect! You really have immense audacity! Killing our Elder wasn’t enough, you wouldn’t even spare her two disciples!”
The third cultivator let out a cold laugh: “A sect of female cultivators with water spiritual roots who stick together. It’s a miracle you’ve lasted until now. When I return, I’ll have my Master occupy your Water Moon Peak and refine all of you into cultivation vessels!”
As soon as he finished speaking, Yun Wushang merely glanced at them. The three were immediately suppressed by an invisible force, one after another, falling from the sky to the ground, unable to move.
The pressure from a Great Vehicle stage cultivator, even if only slightly utilized, could force Nascent Soul cultivators to prostrate themselves, leaving them helpless, like fish on a chopping block.
It’s important to note that the distance between her and the three was not far. If not for deliberate control, Yun Wushang’s pressure would have inevitably affected Mo Xun.
The Spirit Sword Immortal Sect had sent a total of five people to this Demon-Slaying Assembly, and all of them were now here.
Realizing their impending doom, the three instantly changed their previous anger and disdain to expressions of terror.
The leader trembled: “Senior, spare our lives! We are blind fools who offended Senior. Please be merciful and grant us a way to live!”
The person following him pressed his forehead to the ground: “As long as Senior is willing to spare us, I am willing to serve Senior as a slave!”
The third person was scared white, unable to speak clearly: “I, I spoke wrongly… I, I was joking. I said it casually. I didn’t mean it! I beg Senior to spare my life!”
Mo Xun tilted her head, watching the scene. She had to admit it was somewhat satisfying. This was the advantage of having power: easily forcing those who displeased you to bow down and beg for mercy.
Yun Wushang turned sideways to stand alongside Mo Xun, facing the three, and spoke coldly: “Are you still occupying Water Moon Peak?”
“We never had such an idea!” “Whoever occupies Water Moon Peak is an enemy of the entire Spirit Sword Immortal Sect!” “Please, Senior, spare our lives!”
Yun Wushang sneered: “Refine all of us into cultivation vessels?”
“Such despicable acts should never be easily done!” “Whoever dares to harm a hair on a Water Moon cultivator, I will kill them!” “We beg Senior to be merciful!”
Yun Wushang stared at the three coldly for a while, then turned her gaze to Mo Xun and asked: “Do you need a cultivation vessel?”
“No,” Mo Xun replied without hesitation.
Refining cultivators into cultivation vessels to extract spiritual energy for faster cultivation. For Mo Xun, who came from a peaceful society, such a practice was not only anti-human rights but anti-humanity, against her principles.
The faces of the other two Spirit Sword cultivators instantly turned ashen, their bodies shaking like withered leaves in a gale, cold sweat breaking out on their foreheads.
However, just as they thought they were doomed, Yun Wushang withdrew the pressure suppressing them and uttered one word: “Scram.”
“Yes!” The demon cultivators responded, quickly getting up and retreating.
They seemed very submissive to Yun Wushang, yet demon cultivators are inherently difficult to manage. Who would genuinely be willing to be controlled by her if not for fear of her power?
A few demon cultivators immediately started whispering amongst themselves as soon as they turned away.
“She’s still alive. What a tough life.”
“Isn’t she? First, stabbed in the back by the demon realm, then besieged by the Heavenly Mountain Immortal Sect, yet she still survived.”
“But why did she bring a Nascent Soul cultivator back with her this time?”
“She looks pretty good. Maybe she was captured to warm her bed?”
“The rumors that the Demon Lord likes women must be true. I heard that’s why she was expelled from Heavenly Mountain…”
Before the sentence was finished, the temperature in the air plummeted.
Realizing what had happened, the few demon cultivators hurriedly turned and knelt: “Please forgive us, Demon Lord!”
Sitting on the throne, Yun Wushang looked at them from hundreds of meters away and ordered coldly: “Guards, drag those people away and give them one hundred lashes. Anyone who gossips like this again will be executed without mercy!”
“Yes!”
The demon cultivators were dragged away. None of them resisted or begged for mercy. They seemed to understand that any resistance would only bring more pain.
Yun Wushang left the throne and walked toward the depths of the cave. Without looking back, she said to Mo Xun: “You follow me.”
Mo Xun replied “Mhm” and followed closely at her side, maintaining a calm demeanor throughout.
In truth, she was shocked and uneasy, but she knew that fear and worry wouldn’t solve anything. Instead of wasting time imagining her death, she should focus on how to make Yun Wushang happy, so she would be willing to share her past before her descent into the demonic path, allowing Mo Xun to complete the mission assigned by the System and accumulate movement speed points.
Yun Wushang walked directly into the depths of the cave, reaching the edge of a clear pool. Then, right in front of Mo Xun, she unfastened her belt, slipped off her robe, revealing her pale back and seductive waist.
Mo Xun’s gaze landed on her back, momentarily stunned.
Before Mo Xun could regain her senses, Yun Wushang stepped one foot into the pool and then sat down in the water. After a moment, she spoke: “I shouldn’t need to remind you what you should do?”
Mo Xun: Does she want me to help her bathe?
It must be.
Mo Xun replied “Mhm,” took a piece of cotton cloth from her Storage Pouch, knelt by the pool behind Yun Wushang, and leaned over to wet the cloth.
However, as soon as the hand holding the cloth entered the water, her collar was abruptly grabbed by Yun Wushang and yanked down!
Mo Xun: I…
Mo Xun’s curse was swallowed by the water. She rolled once in the icy water, gagging on several mouthfuls before her head surfaced. She couldn’t help but glare at Yun Wushang.
Yun Wushang stared at her coldly, her eyes showing no guilt for her action, only that lofty arrogance.
Mo Xun: Alright, there’s no way to calm down now.
Mo Xun admitted she spoke out of spite, deliberately trying to provoke Yun Wushang.
She was prepared to be slapped to death by Yun Wushang.
However, after staring at her for a while, Yun Wushang didn’t get angry. Instead, she burst out laughing: “I am this impatient. What are you going to do about it?”
Mo Xun looked at the smile on Yun Wushang’s lips. Although she smiled wantonly and wildly, Mo Xun distinctly sensed a hint of sorrow in her laughter.
The scene created by the heavenly lightning, that illusion, seemed to have become a demon in Mo Xun’s heart, preventing her from ever hardening her heart and completely falling out with Yun Wushang, no matter how angry she was.
Mo Xun sighed, knelt in the pool, and reached out a hand to Yun Wushang: “Come, give me your hand. I’ll rub you down.”
Yun Wushang raised her hand, roughly grabbing Mo Xun’s wrist, and yanked her closer, forcing Mo Xun’s palm onto her chest.
Mo Xun: “…”
“Now, do you understand what you should be doing?” Yun Wushang asked her.
Mo Xun felt like she might not quite understand.
Although the mission at this stage, in addition to learning about Yun Wushang’s past, also involved “in-depth contact.” Going along with Yun Wushang’s desires for in-depth contact would be beneficial to her, but…
If she did such a thing with an agenda, how was she different from a heartbreaker?
Mo Xun wanted every moment of their indulgence to be mutually consensual.
But then again, it wasn’t Mo Xun trying to figure out how to have in-depth contact with Yun Wushang; it was Yun Wushang actively inviting her. So… it should… be okay, right?
Mo Xun wiggled her fingers. Yun Wushang tilted her head back and to the side, relaxing her grip on Mo Xun’s wrist.
Confirming Yun Wushang’s intentions, Mo Xun no longer hesitated. She leaned in, lowered her head to kiss Yun Wushang’s collarbone, and extended her other hand below the surface of the water.
The flower poison of the Twelve-Petal Lust had dissipated, but the desire ignited by it, which they had only hastily resolved, was not so easily satisfied.
Before recovering to the Great Vehicle stage, Yun Wushang had many concerns.
But now, having recovered to the Great Vehicle stage and returned to her own territory, couldn’t she do whatever she wanted? Except that this “whatever” now included Mo Xun.
“We’ve already done it once. I don’t understand why you… are being so reserved,” Yun Wushang whispered, panting, close to Mo Xun’s ear.
Mo Xun pecked her neck before responding: “I was just wondering if what you told me before was true or false?”
Yun Wushang: “What parts?”
Mo Xun: “The part where you said you cultivated at another immortal sect, and your Master expelled you because she believed rumors.”
Hearing this, Yun Wushang let out a cold laugh: “Even my identity was fake. Does it matter whether that incident was true or false?”
“It matters,” Mo Xun replied earnestly. “You are the esteemed Demon Lord. You were forced to conceal your identity and live as a Foundation Establishment cultivator because of your severe injuries; I understand that. But… I want to know the real you.”
At these words, Yun Wushang fell silent. Her fingers, resting on Mo Xun’s shoulders, slightly curled, wrinkling the wet fabric of her robe.
After a moment, she again grabbed Mo Xun’s wrist underwater, stopping her movements, rested her head on Mo Xun’s shoulder, and replied softly in a somewhat mocking tone: “Why do you want to know the real me? Could it be that… even if I am a demon, you still like me?”
“Why not?” Mo Xun raised her other hand, carefully and gently touching the back of her neck. “Whether you cultivate the immortal path or the demonic path, you are still you. I like Yun Wushang, not an immortal Yun Wushang.”
Yun Wushang’s nose stung. When she spoke again, her voice carried a hint of a sob: “You are lying.”
“I am not,” Mo Xun replied quickly. She knew that whether she was lying or not, every word she spoke now carried an agenda, but, at least in this moment, her desire to comfort Yun Wushang was genuine.
Yun Wushang continued to rest her head on Mo Xun’s shoulder, soaking with her in the cold pool water. She said in a voice clearly laced with emotion: “You are just afraid of my power, or you want to share the status of the Demon Lord with me.”
Mo Xun calmly responded: “If that were true, I wouldn’t have been able to form a Nascent Soul, and even if I had, I would certainly be plagued by inner demons.”
Yun Wushang was silent for a few more moments, then let out a sigh, released Mo Xun’s wrist, and hooked both hands around Mo Xun’s neck: “Continue… don’t stop.”
