Their bodies finally separated by a few inches.
Chi Jingyan’s gaze lingered, catching a glimpse of Jiang Mengyu’s slender, supple waist beneath the loosened hem of her pajamas, the elegant lines of her toned abdomen disappearing into the waistband of her pants. Unable to resist, Chi Jingyan traced her fingertips along Jiang Mengyu’s waist, back and forth, as if drawn by an irresistible pull.
Everything about Jiang Mengyu held a fatal allure for her.
Chi Jingyan spared no effort, coaxing out that intoxicating jasmine scent until it surged forth, mingling passionately with the sweet wine fragrance in the air just like the two entangled on the bed.
Her lips trailed along Jiang Mengyu’s cheek, then down her neck to her collarbone, whispering her name over and over by Jiang Mengyu’s ear.
“Please…”
Chi Jingyan murmured, her voice husky and sweet like never before, like a damp towel wrapping tightly around Jiang Mengyu, suffocating her.
The calm facade on Jiang Mengyu’s face finally shattered. She pinned Chi Jingyan’s wrist to the bed, her dark eyes unreadable, like the depths of a turbulent sea, carrying a dangerous edge.
“Chi Jingyan, do you know what you’re doing?”
Chi Jingyan knew.
She had never been this reckless before.
“I want you!”
Mark me completely.
The rest went unspoken, but the raw desire in her eyes as she looked at Jiang Mengyu said it all.
Jiang Mengyu’s response was a shadow falling over her vision, she covered Chi Jingyan’s eyes with her hand.
A night of damp chaos.
Like a sudden downpour shaking the branches, sending tremors of scattered raindrops that lingered endlessly.
By the time everything settled, Chi Jingyan had long since collapsed into exhausted slumber.
Already weakened by the pheromone inducer, her body couldn’t withstand such intensity. But thankfully, after being marked, her pheromones gradually stabilized.
The room was thick with an unmistakable intimacy, the mingled scents of their pheromones filling every corner, anyone who walked in would know exactly what had happened.
Jiang Mengyu sat on the edge of the bed, her back to Chi Jingyan, draped loosely in a robe, her long hair cascading behind her. A faint red scratch was barely visible at the nape of her neck.
Zhou Heng’s voice crackled through the black walkie-talkie.
“How is the young mistress?” he asked.
Jiang Mengyu glanced sideways at the sleeping figure beside her. “Asleep.”
Zhou Heng hesitated. “Professor Chen is already here. When should we—”
“Tomorrow,” Jiang Mengyu cut in, her gaze lingering on Chi Jingyan’s still-flushed face. “It’s not convenient now.”
Zhou Heng sighed, clearly wanting to say more but holding back. “Take care of her.”
Jiang Mengyu didn’t respond. She tossed the walkie-talkie aside and stood, heading for the bathroom.
She had already released System 031 from the blackout, but her mind was eerily quiet. Jiang Mengyu spared a glance and found the system curled motionless in a corner, seemingly frozen.
“System?” she called out, a rare moment of initiative.
System 031 was acting dumb and confused, [Who are you calling? That pitiful System 031 who got punished by the Main God for its host’s disobedience and sent back for a factory reset?]
Jiang Mengyu: “…”
She ignored the system and turned to open the task panel.
The main quest had unknowingly reached 72% completion, but what stood out more was the blood-red “88” next to it, the plot deviation value.
No wonder System 031 had shut down like this.
Seeing Jiang Mengyu still looking completely unbothered, System 031 couldn’t help but wail in despair: [Host, do you have any idea what you’ve done?!]
Staying loyal to one’s CP is the sacred duty of every Green River female lead.
But as the female lead, rolling around with a cannon fodder character would get her flamed to oblivion in the forums!
Jiang Mengyu casually reassured it, “It’s not like I haven’t been flamed before.”
When she played the villain, did she ever get spared from criticism?
System 031: …
That’s not the same at all!!
The next day, when Chi Jingyan woke up, it was already 10:30 in the morning.
She was exhausted, as if she had just run a full marathon her limbs ached so much they barely felt like her own.
The gland at the back of her neck was hot and itchy. When Chi Jingyan reached up to touch it, it even felt slightly swollen.
All because Jiang Mengyu had bitten her too hard last night.
Wait, where was Jiang Mengyu?
Chi Jingyan jolted awake, realizing Jiang Mengyu was no longer in the room.
She was gone?!
Chi Jingyan froze for a long moment before suddenly shuddering. Spotting the intercom at the foot of the bed, she grabbed it and hoarsely yelled at Zhou Heng on the other end, “Where’s Jiang Mengyu?”
Zhou Heng: “…She’s downstairs.”
Chi Jingyan gritted her teeth. “Now. Immediately. Bring her up here right now!”
Her voice was so loud it clearly carried through the intercom and straight into Jiang Mengyu’s ears.
Zhou Heng looked at the girl standing in front of him and took a deep breath.
Jiang Mengyu remained completely unfazed by Chi Jingyan’s anger. Her expression was calm, her tone indifferent. “Have Secretary Zhao bring someone over now. She needs a thorough check-up.”
Zhou Heng nodded. “Understood.”
After speaking, Jiang Mengyu picked up the glass of honey water she had just prepared and turned to head back upstairs, her figure quickly disappearing from Zhou Heng’s sight.
Zhou Heng’s expression was complicated. He wasn’t sure if he should stop her, he had a feeling the young mistress was no match for Jiang Mengyu.
Just look at the situation now: the young mistress was already panicking just because she woke up alone, while Jiang Mengyu remained utterly composed. The two of them weren’t even on equal footing.
But Chi Jingyan was also fiercely protective of Jiang Mengyu, repeatedly warning them not to actually harm her.
Zhou Heng didn’t know what to do.
All he could do was silently pray.
He hoped Jiang Mengyu truly cared for the young mistress.
When Jiang Mengyu returned to the room, Chi Jingyan was slumped on the floor, her upper body draped over the foot of the bed, her face buried in her arms.
Hearing the sound, Chi Jingyan abruptly looked up. Jiang Mengyu saw tears streaking her face, her eyes glistening with moisture, looking utterly pitiful.
Before Jiang Mengyu could even set down the honey water in her hand, Chi Jingyan lunged at her, sending her stumbling back a couple of steps. Some of the water spilled, dampening Jiang Mengyu’s wrist.
But now, no one had the time to pay attention to the glass of honey water.
Chi Jingyan stared at Jiang Mengyu with reddened eyes for two seconds, then without giving her a chance to speak, she pressed her hand against the back of Jiang Mengyu’s neck and kissed her.
It was less of a kiss and more of a bite.
Jiang Mengyu had one arm wrapped around Chi Jingyan’s waist while the other held the glass of water. With no free hand to stop her, she simply let Chi Jingyan sink her teeth into her lips.
Fortunately, the kiss didn’t last long.
The familiar scent of jasmine soothed the agitation in Chi Jingyan’s heart, bringing a sliver of clarity to her mind, which had been overwhelmed by panic and fear.
Seeing that Chi Jingyan had stopped, Jiang Mengyu finally asked softly, “Are you awake now?”
Chi Jingyan didn’t answer, only staring at her intently.
Jiang Mengyu released her hold, walked around the foot of the bed, and placed the glass on the nightstand. When she turned back, she found Chi Jingyan had somehow slumped back onto the floor.
Luckily, the room was carpeted, so it wasn’t too cold.
Chi Jingyan bit her lip as she looked up at Jiang Mengyu. Under her gaze, she tried to push herself up, but her legs were too weak to support her.
Just as Chi Jingyan lowered her head, seemingly about to try again, a shadow suddenly fell over her. A firm grip wrapped around her waist and the bend of her knees, and the momentary sensation of weightlessness made her instinctively cling to Jiang Mengyu’s shoulders.
Staring at the familiar face so close to hers, her eyes reddened even more. “Weren’t you leaving?”
“Didn’t you ask Zhou Heng to bring me up?” Jiang Mengyu countered.
As she spoke, she lifted Chi Jingyan and placed her back on the bed.
But Chi Jingyan looped her arms around Jiang Mengyu’s neck, refusing to let go. “Then where’s Zhou Heng?”
She had told Zhou Heng to bring Jiang Mengyu up, but he was nowhere to be seen earlier. Did that mean Jiang Mengyu had come back willingly?
Chi Jingyan’s gaze was sticky and damp, fixed unblinkingly on Jiang Mengyu, her voice still trembling with tears. “You never actually planned to leave, did you?”
Damn Jiang Mengyu, she was scaring her again!
Jiang Mengyu didn’t answer. Instead, she frowned and pried Chi Jingyan’s hands away, then picked up the honey water from the nightstand and handed it to her, saying simply, “Drink.”
But Chi Jingyan leaned in again, hooking her fingers into Jiang Mengyu’s clothes, her voice hoarse. “My hands are too weak. I can’t hold it.”
The cautious probing in her eyes was unmistakable.
For a long moment, Jiang Mengyu didn’t move. Just as Chi Jingyan was starting to lose hope, Jiang Mengyu finally, silently, brought the glass to her lips.
Her eyelids were half-lowered, her expression unreadable, but her movements were careful.
The weight in Chi Jingyan’s heart finally lifted.
She obediently drank half the glass of honey water before turning her head away. “I can’t drink any more.”
Jiang Mengyu set the glass down and sat silently by the bed. Just as Chi Jingyan reached out to embrace her, Jiang Mengyu tilted her head slightly to avoid it.
Chi Jingyan paused, then changed tactics. “Jiang Mengyu, my legs hurt.”
Her tone was half-complaint, half-embarrassment, mixed with a barely noticeable hint of coquetry.
Jiang Mengyu glanced down at her exposed legs. Despite hours of rest, faint red marks left by Jiang Mengyu’s teeth in a moment of loss of control were still visible on the smooth skin.
Chi Jingyan, seeing her silence, pressed her lips together and emphasized again, “It really hurts.”
Jiang Mengyu glanced at her and retorted, “And whose fault is that?”
Chi Jingyan immediately fell silent. After a long pause, she murmured in a small voice, “You could have just ignored me.”
