- Chapter 20.2 - The Cannon Fodder Alpha Secretly in Love with the Female Lead Omega (17)
Chi Jingyan struggled slightly but couldn’t break free.
Her body felt languid now, devoid of strength, with Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones still lingering on her. Looking at the woman kneeling before her, Chi Jingyan found herself unusually patient.
She didn’t try to withdraw her foot again but instead pursed her lips and asked softly, “What do you want to do?”
The ankle in her palm was so slender it seemed it might snap. Jiang Mengyu stroked Chi Jingyan’s ankle with her thumb, feeling the slight recoil before explaining gently, “A-Yan.”
“You’re so beautiful.”
Her words were direct, a compliment that left Chi Jingyan unable to scold her for being presumptuous. She gave a light hum. “Whatever you’re thinking, stop it.”
Jiang Mengyu continued to watch Chi Jingyan quietly, who had already turned her face away. With her ankle held in Jiang Mengyu’s grasp, her body curled into the spacious chair, she was enveloped in Jiang Mengyu’s scent, as if trapped within an invisible cage.
Yet Chi Jingyan remained unaware of her predicament. Glancing at Jiang Mengyu from the corner of her eye, she noticed the other woman still staring intently, her deep, unfathomable eyes swirling with some unreadable emotion.
Chi Jingyan’s heart skipped a beat. She knew she should be wary, but some subconscious part of her believed Jiang Mengyu wouldn’t dare act, after all, Jiang Mengyu had always been obedient.
She didn’t mind giving her well-behaved little dog a small reward.
Chi Jingyan lowered her long lashes slightly, ceasing her struggles as if tacitly permitting Jiang Mengyu’s boldness.
But in the end, Jiang Mengyu did nothing. She released Chi Jingyan’s ankle. “The air conditioning is set too low.”
Chi Jingyan paused. “Mm.”
Her voice still carried a faint nasal tone.
She hadn’t noticed while her body was feverish earlier, but now that she’d calmed down, the chill was apparent. Pushing herself up, she said, “I’m going to rest for a while.”
Jiang Mengyu moved to support her but was refused.
Chi Jingyan had an inexplicable stubbornness about this.
During her rut, she could allow herself to crave Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones, but once composed, she refused to show any trace of vulnerability again.
Jiang Mengyu followed behind Chi Jingyan, watching as she reached the master bedroom door. Chi Jingyan pulled it open but didn’t enter immediately, instead turning back to glance at Jiang Mengyu one last time.
“You can use anything in the house. The computer in the study isn’t password-protected.”
Her words seemed to brim with trust toward Jiang Mengyu.
If Jiang Mengyu hadn’t known just how many surveillance cameras were installed in the house, she might have actually believed Chi Jingyan.
Was this some kind of entrapment?
……
Jiang Mengyu did nothing.
Chi Jingyan’s susceptible periods were unpredictable, so Jiang Mengyu had no choice but to stay by her side, ready to provide pheromones at any moment.
System 031 watched the unfolding events with quiet satisfaction.
Turns out, the host actually knew what she was doing. It had been too impatient earlier, worrying that the host might derail the plot entirely.
If things continued like this, Chi Jingyan might soon forgive the host for her past actions. Then, with a little pleading, Chi Jingyan would surely agree to let the host return to school!
031 happily envisioned this bright future, completely oblivious to the occasional glances Jiang Mengyu cast toward Chi Jingyan glances that carried an inscrutable depth.
They didn’t leave the house all day. Lunch was delivered by Secretary Zhao, and in the evening, they had congee made by Jiang Mengyu.
Chi Jingyan only took a few sips before setting down her spoon. She studied Jiang Mengyu, who sat across from her, and after a long pause, abruptly said, “Sleep with me tonight.”
Her tone was never one of discussion only command.
Jiang Mengyu swallowed a mouthful of plain congee. “Okay.”
Her obedience improved Chi Jingyan’s mood considerably.
They still slept in the guest room, but Chi Jingyan, wary of rolling into Jiang Mengyu’s arms again, decided to have her sleep on a makeshift bed on the floor instead.
Jiang Mengyu raised no objections.
Lights out. Surrounded by the scent of jasmine, Chi Jingyan quickly drifted into deep slumber.
Jiang Mengyu, however, lay awake, silently counting the seconds.
Sure enough, Chi Jingyan’s episode struck again in the middle of the night.
She panted heavily in bed, while Jiang Mengyu remained motionless on the floor, eyes closed.
Frowning, Chi Jingyan reached out beside her, only to find the space empty yet Jiang Mengyu’s scent was unmistakably close.
It took her a moment to remember she had banished Jiang Mengyu to the floor.
Jiang Mengyu lay perfectly still. The rustling sounds above her grew louder, the aroma of pear lychee wine intensifying. Then, a light kick grazed her calf.
Still, Jiang Mengyu didn’t react.
Biting her lip, Chi Jingyan stared at the woman before her. The dim glow of the nightlight was enough to reveal Jiang Mengyu’s face eyes shut, as if lost in deep sleep.
Chi Jingyan nudged Jiang Mengyu’s leg again with her toes and whispered, “Jiang Mengyu…”
This time, at least, her dizziness didn’t distort her recognition.
Yet Jiang Mengyu didn’t stir.
Chi Jingyan couldn’t understand how she could sleep so soundly. Had she not heard her call?
The discomfort was unbearable. She desperately needed Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones, the faint traces lingering in the room were nowhere near enough to quell this wave of heat.
After a brief hesitation, Chi Jingyan leaned down, reaching out to tap Jiang Mengyu’s cheek. She was so close that when Jiang Mengyu’s eyes suddenly flew open, Chi Jingyan nearly jumped in surprise.
Before Chi Jingyan could react, she heard Jiang Mengyu whisper softly in her ear, “Come here.”
The scent of jasmine instantly filled her breath, making Chi Jingyan’s head spin even more. Her body felt light, as if it had been split into two parts.
One part yearned for the person before her, while the other anxiously warned her not to fall for it.
Jiang Mengyu watched her quietly, her deep black eyes clearly reflecting Chi Jingyan’s figure. She parted her lips slightly, her voice soft and tender, “A-Yan…”
Chi Jingyan’s brows furrowed tightly. She moved her lips, her voice strained as if forced from her throat, “No…”
Though her words resisted, her body betrayed her will.
Chi Jingyan slowly leaned closer to Jiang Mengyu.
In her mind, the panicked voice of System 031 rang out, laced with confusion.
[Host, what are you doing?]
Jiang Mengyu didn’t respond, swiftly silencing it instead.
What was she doing?
Hadn’t she made it clear from the very first day she transmigrated here?
Perhaps it was because Jiang Mengyu had played her role too well all this time.
She had countless opportunities to act against Chi Jingyan, yet she restrained herself each time, doing nothing. As a result, not only did Chi Jingyan believe in her harmlessness, but even System 031, who knew her temperament well, had been deceived.
But they had forgotten one thing Jiang Mengyu was a suspected Enigma.
The records were clear: Enigmas possessed even greater aggression and dominance than Alphas.
If even Chi Jingyan had been tempted by her pheromones to the point of wanting to mark her, hadn’t they considered that she, too, might be lured by Chi Jingyan’s pheromones?
Chi Jingyan had actually trusted her.
Jiang Mengyu couldn’t help but find it laughable.
Those naive enough to trust the wicked always learned their lesson.
Jiang Mengyu released her pheromones, remaining motionless as she coldly watched Chi Jingyan draw closer like a cunning hunter setting a trap, baiting her prey, waiting for it to fall into her grasp.
The distance between them shrank further.
Only when Chi Jingyan’s nose was mere inches from her face did Jiang Mengyu finally part her lips and ask in a low voice:
“Ayan, do you want it?”
